My charaters are all about not being in superhero costumes all the time...

I'm working on my own group shot of Trinkit and Devin.

So far... here is where I am at with Trinkit... she is missing her glasses though...

she'd have them, but I have to help setup a garage sale.
Devin will probably be in order tomorrow afternoon.

I wasn't going for the pop-artish look at first, but after making a few mistakes I tried it...

(line errors too... I guess I rushed it, will try to fix those too)

enjoy

Thats pretty cool. I like that. I think it might be cool too if in parts the color goes beyond the line, know what I mean. Nothing too bad just a little bit here and there. Im pretty sure Ive seen other stuff like that before and it looked pretty neato.

Cuppa_Bubble,

I really like that, is it Illustrator? I've been trying my hand a that program lately too (I have a pic of my daughter that has gotten wickedly complicated).

The pen tool is crazy hard to use, so my advice is to practice it a lot to get smoother lines (I'm thinking about the nose outlines in particular). But the eyes look fantastic!

The only thing you might consider when you put the glasses on is how it might effect the hair that is draping over the eye.

But I really like it! THumbs way up!

You have a nice likeness going so far. Did you use reference?
Your linework to me looks choppy as if you were using small spans of a straightline tool to approximate curves. There are too many control points in a lot of places.

The most significant thing to me is that there's no coherent lighting scheme. Looks like you have lighting coming from the front, the back, and maybe the side. But the shadows contradict the highlights in a lot of places. The shoulder for instance, has a bright vertical highlight running down the back. Then a slightly dimmer one coming down at a slight angle from the front. But then there are these odd wedge shaped shadows in between. The shape of the shadow suggests light coming from directly above. Also the shapes are so sharply defined that they look like they should be the shadows of large welts or something.

The color bone has a very dark, flattening shadow right in the middle of her chest. That bone protrudes out. Unless that area were in complete shadow, the convex part of the bone should be brighter than the flatter areas around it due to the way the roundness of the bone would reflect light.

I hope that makes sense. I'de be more than happy to do a quick paintover to show you what i mean if it doesn't. Nice looking woman, should be a good pic when you're finished.

ooookay...

The stupid Garage sale messed up my efforts today.

Devin is NOT completed like I wanted!

anyway... I agree, the shadows and light sources on Trinkit need to be tweaked... that is what I get for doing each character seperate and then put them together after... boo on my part for not planning...

but, here it the works in progress of Devin.

Imagine Trinkit leanin up against him...

Devin WIP popart style

--this is to portray them in casual laying around, taking it easy from fighing crime and Giant Monsters.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I am going to be cleaning up lines and working things out when I'm not running all over the house...

Now... I wanted to be done with this today...

It looks like it will take a few more days to get the background finished...

Plus, I have to fix the horror story that is Trinkit's lighting. I went a little crazy with that and I need to tone it down and make it simple like I did with Devin.

Plus, I didn't get to it today because I need to go grocery shopping and dishes, but I need to work on Devin's eyes.

but, here it is. Thanks for checking it out.
