Request for help with Photobucket and forum Avatar

Hello, I am newly signed up for these boards (tho I've been playing COH for a while, and thus reading the boards for a while)

I seem to be having trouble implementing my forum Avatar which is over on photobucket. I've tried both a JPG and a GIF. When I put the URL to the image in the "use URL to avatar image" spot in the forum settings - it just takes a long time and either I get "cannot proceed" and it tells me the format is incorrect, or it goes to those ugly white "your page is not found" error pages.

I've seen others who use photobucket for thier avatars - is there some secret voodoo I must do to get mine to work?

And I did search on "photobucket avatar" but got billions of hits that didn't seem to focus on my problem.

Is it the right size? Looks a bit large to me, but I can't really tell from eyeballing it. The profile section does say the dimensions you need. You *should* be able to simply fill in the blank in the profile change area, with that url. But if it's too large it'll look funny and/or not work.

Edit: It also might be an error with the forums. Sometimes the forums database gets sticky and they have to spray it down. Maybe try again later.

Yeah - I double-checked that - its 80 pixels by 80 pixels

yup. It might also be Photobucket. I tried backing up to your main directory there and it timed out. Sometimes they go down too.

If you continue to have problems with Photobucket, I use xs.to for my hosting.

It's not you, it's the forums, they've been having trouble taking in data all day... don't worry- I've gotten the same error about eleventy billion times today, and I finally got it to work.

Hey, it appears to have worked - I've got an avatar!

Now, if only I knew what I actually did to make that happen? ("Ah sweah! It done toll me it wuz still broke!" )

I've been trying to set up my wireless network and router for the last 2 days. No luck. Tried even calling the Belkin tech support ("Fred" in India cannot handle it and 2nd level tech never called back until 36 hours later), no luck.

My coworker comes in. Does *exactly the same thing I was doing for 16 hours before him. Except. It works FINE.

Go figure.

yea, i've also discovered the bane of home WiFi network issues, typically it's the Wireless Zero Configuration service that's the culprit. at least, for me it's the culprit.
