That was my preference too honestly <_ _>; but I was told it clogged the forum.

[/ QUOTE ]

well that cinches it , I'm definitely getting rid of my sketchdump since they seem to be something forced on folks by some shadowy cabal of art forum dictators

[/ QUOTE ]

It wasn't any kind of shadowy cabal, it was just me.

I made a suggestion to several posters that instead of posting every single sketch in a new thread...they might want to make "sketchdump" threads...for some of their work. Numerious posters had already done so.

It was just a suggestion. The Forum Cartel will not disapear you if you don't follow it.

However, just think... if everyone here posted every sketch in a new thread...an artists most recent masterpiece would be pushed down to page 3 within a day. It would also make it much harder to see an artists progression or to compare their new work with their older stuff.

Finally, it would mean far more threads to search through every day to see the new stuff! What is the single biggest time waster when forum diving? It is not reading through lots of posts...you can skim those...the biggest time waste is opening and closing threads! Many more threads means MUCH more wasted time to see all the new posts.

But do what you want.

>.> well, I wasn't meaning it quite like that; err dammit <_ _> Now I feel worse.

I dunno; for me, my sketchdump has been completely barren of comments and even when updated is on page 3 by the end of the day; I don't know if its because I suck; or if its because its a sketchdump. It seems to get plenty of views... but no comments. Then again I shouldn't be taking away from LJ's time in the spotlight >.< sorry <feeling sorry for self, don't mind me >.>

I don't mind the off topic stuff... I originally didn't want to post any of this seperately, as I consider them "gifts" and not discussions. I forgot to mention that time willing, I'm gonna tackle MM and ** again... for now I'm off to play!

later all...

I was hoping you'd ask, I love your character... gonna squeeze you in, but THAT's it! Sheesh, at this rate I'll never be done...

Been drawing up a frenzy, and thanks to all the requests... I think I've opened up a can of art worms!

[/ QUOTE ]

LOL yes you have...

Well you did such a great job on one of my toons to other day, Siberian Knight, I wanted to request (if you want to and have time of course) to draw my other main toon, Mr. Russia.

Either of the costumes is fine although I prefer the soviet one with the hammer and sickle

Thanks again

Oh and your work on Sithius was just plain awesome. I love em all but that one really stood out for me.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, I really only took this on to keep from getting rusty. And it's been ages since I drew something fun... well no that's not true, I did this about 2 months ago from an older piece I did 2 years ago.

Point is, while critiques are welcome, I'm not asking for them... I just wanta a) give back to the community, and b) draw something cool.

Here's my rundown so far:

1) Replete
2) Siberian Knight
3) Feral Kat
4) Marvel Maiden
5) Sithius
6) Mr. Shock
As I see it, my list for who's next is this:

8) Missy K
9) DonnchadH
10) Migrayne
11) Radey Ayte
12) Mr. Majesty
13) Mistress Vine
14) Bayani
15) and then the big kahuna, TA.

Sad to say I'm not gonna take anymore requests for now... I do have a day job, and the Missus is none to happy I am not drawing cowgirls. Besides that list alone will keep me busy for a month. Thanks again for all the feedback, I love COH!

Wow >< Feral looks awesome in that pic. I didn't see this stuff before <;.;> too busy poutin lol (dun mind me <x,x> I'm depressive)

But anyway <,< as I was gonna say - I really like that pic; especially the way you did the boots; and the background; both quite excellent! The only thing I notice >.> and I really really don't know how to tell you to improve it <;.;> but; she feels... slightly 'lumpy' somehow; I *think* its the outline.

Not really sure how to tell you to fix that though >.> and hell, it could just be me seeing it the wrong way <,< wouldn't be the first time.

Excellent stuff <^.^> I shall lurk in teh presence of greatness <. .> *lurks*

Okay, I am only going to mention this as a *minor* nitpick with the characters I have seen, such as the one above, so far:

The style of body outlines in these are thin. While that normally isn't a concern if the Artist chooses to draw this way, it DOES have a negative effect on the viewing-screen (especially CRTs) that I think you should be aware of, as I have seen some great full-length shots get ruined by it.

What the impact is that there are thin-line *jaggies* all the way around the body when the picture is compressed in viewing size. This is of course a result of the use of thin-line outlines jagging with the monitor's raster and interlace-scanning system. It makes the image seems weak only because it makes the character *appear* to have been *cut-and-pasted* into the background...or keyed-in, instead of solidly appearing there. Even the very outline of the cape suffers from this effect here, when the picture is reduced at all in size.

I am sure if you can reduce the size of the image with your browser's graphic settings you would see what I am saying here. I have 22" Princeton CRT monitors on some of the workstations here and they all exhibit this effect with the drawings linked to your post... once a different, smaller size from the picture's default is selected. I also viewed the same problem on a 24" LCD setup but it was worse on the CRT.

And again, it's the pencil-thin sized draw-lines around the outline of the subject that is the cause as it interacts with the monitor's ability to display them. Many animators for TV productions know of this problem and it is one reason they chose a stronger (heavier) brush-stroke for production work meant to be aired on NTSC television. But that is their choice of style (which also stems from the 'old film days' when they needed to provide bumper-room for the cell-paints to settle in).

This is minor, but noticible. I am sure you might want to make some adjustments to future project based on what you might see locally. I felt it important enough to say something now, before your gallery of stars grows exponentially.

Yeah she is lumpy, a kind of after effect of vector doodling. I'm just learning it, and I still don't do those mega precise lines one can get. I think it's because I am just whizzing the pentool around with no regard for safety (ok that didn't sound right LOL). Also I wanted to finish fast for Katfood, because it was kind of a surprise...

Shego: I get what you're saying, but I like thin lines, they're just asthetically pleasing to me. I use to do that thick layer on the outsides of the body, but sometimes I forget. Also these pieces are reduced in most cases. My screen is set at 1024 x 768 and my photoshop images are in the 3000+ x 2500+ range at 300 dpi, not to mention the little 4 x 5 wacom I have to spank to keep it all in line (no pun intended).

I try to make the images 1000 x 800 to be seen, but I think I will reduce that to 800 x 600 for screensavers from this point on. It was a thought that occured to me for those who might want to use them that way...

In some cases these are cut and pasted because depending on my mood I will clean up my wacom doodle in Illustrator, then put them back into Photoshop for coloring. With Sithius I just drew color on color in Photoshop, it was the fastest one to do. Replete was a earning experience but probably because it was a very intricate costume.

With MM, I was more concerned with getting expression right. Normally I don't work this way, I take weeks to finish something I really am obsessed with, and even then as you can see from those examples, they might sit on the digital shelf until I "feel" like getting back to them if ever.

But in this case, these were meant as gifts, so it was more important to get something back to the requester than for me to be overly satisfied.

The next few pieces will be longer in between as I have to get back to my day job. Thanks for the input, it's definitely noted and appreciated!

Just a quick note, my character's name is Sythius, not Sithius. Just a little pet peeve of mine, no biggie. Sythius looks cooler And again, I am amazed with the work done by LJ, so freaking awesome. I also like the one of Mr. Shock, the lightning effects are really cool.

Good to know, someone corrected me and I wasn't sure... alas the edit time has expired or I would correct it. I'm glad you liked your piece... that's why I did it.

I made it to your "To Do" List! I can't wait to see what magic you work!

Well, I love the picture of MM. Like how you put her in flight. In the image it looked more toned thin skinny to me. Looks Great. I guess the only thing I will say about it is that her eyes are blue and not green but i love that color green! Still awesome job and just so wonderful!

Hooray for more artists around here! Love your style, it's very.... *opens thesaurus* statuesqe and epic-looking. Plus the Feral Kat pic is nicely toony =D.

And yeah, if you could find it in your heart to slot yours truly into your second batch of requests, I'd positively love it (Like you didn't see it coming a mile away)
