Moon Missions

I thought I would start a moon mission thread. Based upon the Moon Hazard Zone I envisioned.

Please feel free to add to or make suggestions to anything.

***************

I stepped into the teleporter. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’ve used the teleporter’s in Paragon City for years, going from one section of the city to another, (usually to the hospitals), but the trips are usually only a few miles. They tell me this trip averages about 238,855 miles, but this trip will be closer to 241,000 miles. Just my luck I get the longer trip.

I watched as the technician activated the teleporter. Usually a trip with a teleporter is instantaneous; you just appear at your destination with no sensation of movement or time having passed. This time was different my awareness changed, I could see and feel energy all around me. I was part of that energy. I could sense I was traveling at great speeds, and I could feel the passage of time. I became aware of movement and half formed images just beyond my perception. Being a hero for all these years has given me a kind of 6th sense where I was always aware when danger was near me. I sensed danger now. I knew something was preparing to attack me. Just as it was about to attack, the world changed. I was suddenly on another telepad. I had made it. I was now on the Moon.

[You have receive the “Astronaut Badge”]

Suddenly I felt like an Astronaut! I was on the Moon! I thought someone should make a badge for that. I informed the technician of my experience in the teleporter. He laughed and said “you heroes and your imagination. No one can feel the sensation of time passing in a teleport. You guys all say the same thing. You Heroes are so paranoid. Do the guys on the other end tell you to say that? Really this joke is getting old. Please go down the hallway. Your contact, Professor Clark, is expecting you. He’s by the entrance”

I walked down the corridor looking for Professor Clark; the lighter gravity made every step into a bound I actually hit my head on the ceiling a few times while navigating the corridor.

I spotted Professor Clark by the exit; I went up to speak with him.

“Ah, Golden Ace Glad to see you at last” stated Professor Clark as I approached. “As you know The Mare Vaporum and the surrounding areas contain a breathable atmosphere. We have been unable to determine how this is maintained. But the atmosphere is maintained throughout the Sea of Vapors and even up a few unexplored canyons along the rim. The energies that somehow maintain the atmosphere also seem to Suppress Travel Powers. Sorry Golden Ace it looks like your going to have to hoof it from here. If you get a chance you should speak with the Base Commander, Ms. Helen Konig, and Admiral Tarkin, the Commander of Task Force Beta I’m sure they have some tasks that you could help them with.”

I stepped outside and attempted to fly. Sure enough I was unable to take off. I hate it when scientists are right about stuff like that. The sky above was full of stars. I had never seen so many stars before. Off to the left just above the rim I could see the earth. It was a beautiful sight. Just ahead and to my left was Admiral Tarkin. I bonded over to speak with him.

“Golden Ace! Boy am I glad to see you!” Stated Admiral Tarkin. “I don’t know if you know this or not but Moon Base Beta is slowly being overrun by the local vegetation. Our scientists have determined that the local ecosystem is both terrestrial, and extraterrestrial in origin. In some areas the two differing flora genomes appear to coexist in harmony, while in others the terrestrial and extraterrestrial vegetation are in a constant state of war. These areas are extremely dangerous as the plants are constantly mutating into new and dangerous forms and attack anything that moves. Unfortunately Moon Base Beta is near one of these areas, and is slowly being encroached upon by the hostile plant life. I have Task Force Beta patrolling the encroachment area attempting to curtail the incursion of the hostile foliage. Task Force Beta is slowly being overwhelmed by the local vegetation and any help you can give them is welcomed.” [Destroy 100 Plants].

I set out on my fist mission.

The Bases are some distance away from each other. Think one end of the zone to the other (Hollows size or larger). If you don't know, make something or someone up. Contacts names of contacts missions etc... Heck if you think it fits make up anything you like. Treat it like any other PvP zone I guess. As for what the bases look like, think of the base on FBZ. Add a few turrents.

There are several unexplored canyons you can use them for what ever you like, or make them into whatever you would like.

I left the building, and started toward the jungle. I heard weapons fire, and immediately started running with leaps and bounds, toward the sound. I was surprised at how quickly I could move in the lighter gravity. Members of Task Force Beta were fighting the very jungle itself. Some of the trees were attacking, them. The plants looked to be tough customers, they were pinging orange, red and purple to me. I focused on the large Tree that was using it’s branches to swat Task Force Beta like they were flies, and doing tremendous damage with each stroke, It reminded me of one of those tree creatures from Lord of the Rings. In my mind I labeled it an “Ent”. I hit build up, and hit it with Block of Ice as I was running up to it. It appeared to have no effect on the Ent. I followed up with Frozen Touch, and the Ent froze in a block of Ice. I then slammed my foot into the ground releasing the “awesome power” of my Frozen Aura. A ring of frost zoomed out in all directions and froze several of the orange bushes that were attacking me.

I pulled out my Greater Ice Sword and dealt a tremendous blow to the Ent. (Ok humor me on this, I’m an Invulnerable / Ice Tank and Greater Ice Sword is my highest damage attack, for everyone else it might be a medium damage attack, but for me its “High Damage”) I followed up with Air Superiority, and frozen fists. That’s when I noticed I was being hit for a lot of damage from some weird looking bushes. They were shooting out toxic spores! I immediately switched targets, and started in on them. I sent out another Frozen Aura, which froze up a few more bushes, and started in on the toxic spewers. The Ent was released from my hold and hit me from behind with a tremendous blow. I ignored it, and froze a toxic spewer in a block of ice, then hit the second one with frozen touch. I ate a purple I was carrying and hit dull pain. I was back to full health and then some.

For some reason the Ent was pissed at me, and hit the ground hard shaking the entire area. A few of the Task Force Beta troops were knocked down, I wasn’t knocked down but with all the shaking I found it difficult to aim my blows, and was missing more than I should. I hit Build up again and Frozen Aura, I was unable to get any more of the minions in it’s grasp but it did keep the ones I had held already frozen a little longer.

I hit the first toxic spewer with another tremendous blow from my Greater Ice Sword, which finished it off. I hit the second one with Frozen Touch again to make sure it was frozen solid, and continued in on it until I finished off.

I then turned my attention back to the Ent; it was starting to annoy me. I dealt it another tremendous blow with Greater Ice Sword, making the entire tree shake. As the tree shook, I noticed that falling leaves were hitting me. Toxic leaves! They weren’t doing much damage, but it was annoying getting hit by dozens of pinpricks. Every time I hit the Ent more leaves would fall. I was finally able to freeze it again with another combination of Frozen Touch and Block of Ice. When it was frozen in the ice the leaves no longer fell on me. I vowed to keep it frozen until it was dead if I could.

Seemingly out of nowhere, vines attacked me, they would reach out and strike me with some sort of electrical discharge. They had a long reach, and while the damage was noticeable I ignored it in order to finish off the Ent. The Ent had a sliver of life left when 3 vines struck me almost at once. The combined electrical discharge was enough to overcome my defenses and stun me.

The minions I was ignoring were now much more of a threat, they were doing a lot more damage! I popped a break free, and started powering up my armors again. I was down to a sliver of life when dull pain came back up again. I healed myself, and finished powering up my armors just in time to be struck again by that damned Ent! I finished it off with another combination of Air Superiority, Greater Ice Sword, and Frozen Fists.

I hit frozen Aura again and got lucky. I froze 5 of the minion bushes. That’s when I noticed the Ent was still moving. Out of the Ent popped 4 smaller versions of it. Mini Ents if you will. I decided to ignore them and ran up to the base of the nearest vine. Hitting it with frozen touch, I switched targets and hit a second vine with block of ice. I ignored the third vine and started in on the first one. It unfroze on me just as I finished it off. The second vine got free also, but I wasn’t worried, because, I had build up and frozen touch ready. I froze it again and was able to freeze the third vine with block of ice. I finished the second vine and started in on the third, I was getting exhausted, luckily I had a blue handy, and ate it. I finished the third vine and then made piece meal of the remaining minions and the Mini Ents. I then did a quick count and realized I still had 83 plants to kill to finish my mission. This is going to be tough. Someone said that if I kill 500 I could get a badge too. I began wondering if the badge was worth it as I headed for the next group of plants.

((Please excuse if my participation is unwelcome...))

"A-ah! Look out!"

Suddenly, a smaller figure, strangely lacking a space-suit (with the exception of a face-visor), leapt towards Ace. There seemed to be an overabundance of pink in her uniform, and she was barely four feet tall, proportioned rather like a child. It was quite obvious that she was an artificial being, her lower arms shielded by huge robotic busters. Comm antennae bristled from her helmet and she hesitantly leapt, bit by bit, towards the Ice-Sword wielding hero.

"Do you require assistance?" the high voice repeated unsurely. Fists glowing with healing light, the little pink robot extended her fingertips towards Ace to envelop the hero in regenerative light.

"I apologize for the intrusion upon your business. I just...noticed that you were slightly injured. You are not severely damaged, I hope?"

The robot tilted her head, the large eyes in her human face childlike in their concern.

The robot smiled, seemingly relieved. "Oh, good!" she sighed. "I d-didn't want to bother you. Are you after the plant creatures?"

Glancing from side to side, she noticed the various detritus left by Ace's assault on the maverick wildlife.

"Dear me..." she mused. "I suppose that would be the case. Well...If you need any help...I'm not really capable of taking these on by myself." With a sheepish smile, she shrugged. "Are you sure that this piece of junk will get me to the moon?" Toy Dispenser asked of the flinchy portal technician standing in front of a control panel.

"Of course it will work!" the tech replied, all offended dignity. "I made it myself using only the most effective of techniques!"

Tapping one hand against his yellow painted legs, Toy pointed at a piece of the device that looked suspiciously like a pair of TV antennas. Blushing a bright red, the tech refused to respond and instead punched in the security code that would activate the portal. With a groaning cough and rattle, a shimmering blue opening into nothingness appeared in front of the mastermind. The bright blue light reflected off of Toy's multi-colored armored body and the flat blast plate that served as his face. Grunting in surprise at the portal's appearance, Toy picked up a small piece of metal and tossed it inside. When the piece of scrap disappeared instead of getting torn to pieces, Toy relaxed and cast one more look back over his shoulder.

"You are damn lucky your boss is giving me hazard pay," Toy shot back.

Bracing himself, Toy stepped into the portal and vanished.

**************************************

Stepping out of the recieving end portal, which looked quite better kept up, Toy was met by a trio of armor suited 5th Columners. Mentally switching gears to German, Toy Dispenser spoke first.

"Greetings fellow soldiers," he began. "It is indeed a good day to go to the moon."

From what Toy could see through the lead soldier's face mask, the man was surprised that Toy spoke his language.

"Indeed it is, mercenary," the man replied. "If you would follow me and my fellows, we shall escort you to the Kommandant."

Toy nodded and followed after the three Nazis. While they were walking through the base, Toy took the opportunity to take a look around. Things seemed to be fairly well kept up, no wires dangling from the ceilings at least, and there were quite a few un-armored personnel walking around on their duties. Even though Toy suspected that he was being deliberately led through the better areas of the station he didn't begrudge the 5th Columners anything. It was their station after all.

Stepping through a door that slid open at his approach, the lead Nazi waved Toy through into the Kommandant's office. The office was mostly a barren affair. A desk, some pictures of Earth, a plaque on the wall, and several chairs rounded out the furniture in the room. The tall, blond man seated at the desk rose at Toy's approach and gave him a sort of half-salute. Toy responded with a full-on 5th Column salute which made the man grin briefly.

"You are the mercenary Toy Dispenser then?" he asked as the two of them sat down.

"Indeed I am, sir. Your man contacted me through the regular channels and informed me as too your situation up here. I must confess that he offered quite a large sum of money so I was more than alittle eager to come up here and take a look around."

"And I am sure that you have never been to the moon, yes?" the Kommandant said and, at Toy's answering nod, continued. "I am Kommandant Bäcker, the commander of Base Alpha. As per your contract, I am now your commanding officer until our contract has been broken or expires."

"Yep."

"I am so glad we agree on that. Since you are the first super-class individual that has answered my call for assistance, amenities will be few. Frankly I expected help to-"

"I won't need them," Toy cut in.

Bäcker's eyes widened and he looked at Toy curiously. "Why will you not need them?"

"Because, quite frankly, I am a robot."

"Oh. Well then, I guess you can begin your duties immidiately. You're first mission is to locate a missing patrol of ours out near Cave Io. They were supposed to report back about six hours ago but we have heard nothing. I suspect they are all dead but I would like to know how and why."

"Possible hostiles?"

"There should be none. Cave Io is in one of the flora friendly zones and the Moon Pumicites have not been spotted anywhere near that area. This might have changed or somehting new might be out there. Your job is to find out what."

"Gotcha," said Toy as he stood up. "I'll report in when I reach the cave and then once again when I've found the patrol. Keep your ears open on Frequency 19-A. If you hear a loud noise on that, it means something got me. And now, I'll be off."

Walking out, the door opening and shutting automatically behind him, Toy soon found his way to an airlock leading outside. After waiting for it to cycle through, the mercenary mastermind stepped out onto the moon's surface for the first time and took a good look around.

"One small step for Toy Dispenser, one giant leap for villain kind."

"Uagh!"

Suddenly, the little robot glanced up, startled. Something had just ripped through her comm system - a harsh blaze of static that left her audio receptors ringing with the protest of feedback.

"I-I...." She trailed off for a moment, her eyes distant. Where was it coming from? Was someone on an unauthorized frequency? It was strange...Radio waves in space were much less coherent than ones on Earth - so any sort of activations were immediately picked up by the bot's receivers. Looking back to Ace with an apologetic little bow (/e sorry XP) she stammered, "I-I'm sorry. I got distracted. There's...something I'd like to investigate." With that, a pair of matter relocation thrusters on her boots gently levitated her into the air. "By the way..." she murmured, "My designation is S6. Most people call me...Essex."

With that, she drifted off, looking for the source of the static, eyes wide. She was still startled by the sudden blast on the frequency.

"Alright, let's bring in the troops," Toy said to himself as he flipped open a panel on his wrist. Tapping in several commands, he flicked the panel shut and then looked up. Sure enough, half a dozen streaks of light shot out from Earth's orbit and came down to the moon. The three battle drones slammed into the ground, safely contained in their rapid deployment crates and activated prototype gravity increasors built into their legs to keep them from flying back up again. The assault bot blazed its foot thrusters long enough to have a soft landing and activated its own gravity field. The protector bots initiated a short range teleport as soon as they got near the ground and popped up next to Toy completely unharmed. They too activated gravity fields and soon every bot under Toy's control was surrounded in a dim blue glow. Wishing that he could install one of those as well, Toy started trudging off toward Cave Io.

It took a little while to get to the cave and along the way, Toy had to fight his way past a plant monster that his threat recognition system insisted on calling an Ent. The Ent went down relatively quickly once a pair of seeker drones stunned it into sitting atop a patch of fire dropped by Combat Toy's incendiary missiles. Patting the assault bot on the back, Toy and his crew continued on.

Cave Io was finally reached and Toy peered into its black depths, wondering what the hell had dug that cave out. It couldn't be water and it couldn't be wind, so what had done it? Shaking his head, Toy left that question for another time and set his bots up in a standard defensive formation before calling up the Kommandant.

"Toy Dispenser to Alpha Base. Alpha Base do you recieve?" he radioed.

"This is Alpha Base. We read you loud and clear, Toy Dispenser," said a heavily accented German voice. "How are things?"

"Pretty good, pretty good. I've just arrived at the objective. Had to pull out my weed whacker on the way but it was nothing serious. Just remember my SOS and keep the poker game ready."

"Roger, Toy Dispenser. Beck says he hopes you come back for a good game. Alpha Base out," said the comm tech, for all intents and purposes understanding the code that Toy had spoken in.

"Some damn good code makers they've got around here," chuckled Toy as he looked once again into the cave. "But I gotta go in there eventually. I wish I could get rid of my fear emotion."

Steeling himself, Toy stepped into the cave.

OOC: Cliffhanger! I'll see what happens inside after I figure out what should happen inside. And did you mean Toy's SOS code up there, Essex?

((OOC: Nah, I didn't think Toy had blasted his SOS...although it was his system she was detecting. Just the sudden presence of an unfamiliar frequency - like if you're listening to the radio and suddenly blip past a station when you're not expecting it. :P))

Essex hovered over the cratered ground, her signature worried look on her face. An incredibly lifelike robot created as a fusion between DNA and technology, she had a strong emotional presence, despite the artificiality of her being. In truth, she really was little more than a repair-bot, designed to keep the more battle-worthy models up and fighting. Really, though, she preferred to be a lab rat and stay with her creator, working with his computer system to navigate for the scouts.

That was really why she was on the moon - She was tired and frightened of battle and requested to be sent to the new Moon Base to research. Little did she know the chaos she would find, and that she would be roped into more heroic deeds.

Finally, her sensors picked up an odd anomaly in the area. As soon as it was there, it was gone, but it quite definitely had been there. Following the blip, Essex passed the decimated remains of what had formerly been plant matter...having been disposed of in quite a violent fashion. She shuddered involuntarily.

I-I hope...there aren't any...extraterrestrials...up here....

She had been safely tucked away during the Rikti invasion, thankfully...but when the other models in her line, her 'brothers', had heard she was going to the moon, they had teased her mercilessly. Essex had tried not to take their words to heart, but, being the naive sort, they placed in her the nagging fear of grotesque, Hollywood-like aliens rising from craters with tentacles and pincers flailing.

She shuddered again.

Picking up her speed so she skimmed across the ground like a dragonfly, the little pink robot finally stopped outside what looked like a large, natural cave....

Kicking another chunk of rock that used to be a Moon Pumicite, Toy Dispenser wondered what the hell had happened in here. He had found what appeared to be the remains of a running fight that the Nazis had staged as soon as the first chamber off of the main entrance. His electronic brief made mention that the patrol was ten men large and so far Toy had found four of them, all of them torn to bloody pieces by rocky hands. But by all accounts the 5th Column patrol had given a good accounting of itself.

Leading his robots on, Toy stepped into yet another of the seemingly endless smooth-walled chambers. This one looked a bit different. There was no detritus of the earlier fight and, unlike all the other chambers, had something natural looking sitting in its center. Scanning it while walking forward, Toy determined that the short pillar was made of the same sort of rock that the caverns were formed of. But for some reason a quick age test showed that the pillar was less than 100 years old, which should be impossible. Mentally frowning, Toy gave the pillar a light kick. Preparing to walk around around the odd pillar and continue, Toy halted when his audio sensors detected an odd sound.

Suddenly wary, Toy directed his robots into a defensive formation and looked all around, waiting and ready for an attack. Which explains why he was surprised when the Pumicite dropped down from the ceilign above him and clubbed the mastermind with clenched fists on the back of the head. Falling to the ground, Toy's robots attacked while more Pumicites fell from the ceiling and attacked.

Suddenly, as Essex hung unsurely outside of the cave, she began to hear a commotion deep inside. The sound of rock striking a hard surface, a shockwave through the ground...there was something going on inside. The little robot shrunk away from the entrance, timidly.

W-what if there are aliens in there fighting?! she mused fearfully. I'll be scrap for sure! And nobody will find me!

At that thought, she was about to fly away, when she was struck by a realization - she had seen another hero fighting those plants earlier...what if someone needed her help? ...It was her function to help...Essex couldn't abandon her function. With a timid sigh, she slowly hovered into the cave, her left hand retreating into the thick protection of her robot arm, a beam of light extending from it instead.

What she saw inside was horrifying.

Men - or what had been men - lying smashed and torn to pieces inside by massive hands. Far too far gone for her healing abilities. Quickening her flight, she zoomed in. If she had had a true heart, it would have been pounding in her ears - if there were more innocents inside, they must be saved at all costs...!

When the cave opened out into the large chamber, Essex's breath caught in her throat. She was just in time to see a huge rock-creature pound someone over the head...Someone guarded by multiple small robots, like herself (though obviously inferior models to her sophisticated design, she didn't allow herself to think).

"No...!"

Zooming forward, Essex concentrated on the downed figure, green light exploding from her body as she lifted her hands in one of the strongest spells she knew - Revive.

"Please be all right...!!"

Feeling like a new man from the regenerative light that emanated form the hands of Essex, I wanted to thank her for the help but she seemed preoccupied with something, and flew off on thrusters. Unable to fly after her, I started toward the next group of plants. This time I was wary, of the vegetation, and knew some of the dangers involved in battling them.

I selected the next group with care, and hit an Ent with a Block of Ice from a distance. I backed off and watched them come. I picked my targets carefully hoping to split the group. Once the main group was away from the jungle and any possible electric vines, I attacked, this time I took froze and took out the toxic spewers first. I kept the minions and the Ent at bay with Ice Patch, while I took care of the toxic spewers. I was quite pleased with how the Ent would bounce around on the Ice Patch. After the toxic spewers were taken care of I turned my attention to the Ent. With Build Up and an application of Block of Ice, and Frozen Touch, I had myself a nice Ent-cicle. Before I knew it I had finished up that group and several others, completing my mission. Earlier I had seen some meteors falling in the distance, I decided to investigate, perhaps I would meet up with Essex again. I looked forward to the company.

"Protect the boss!" roared Combat Toy as it rammed into the Pumicite standing over Toy's motionless form, knocking the rock creature away and to the ground. Then it lifted up its cannons and blasted the Pumicite a new air hole in its chest. Mini Bot, a battle drone, had leapt atop one of the new attackers, relentlessly pounding his claw hand on the Pumicite's face while it ran around in circles, trying to get the little drone off. The other bots were also busy engaging hostiles when Essex flew in and hit Toy with Revive.

Things clicking and whirring as he came back on-line, Toy watched as the world became a point of light that suddenly expanded and widened until he could see his assault bot standing over him, firing a barrage of missiles at something outside his field of vision. Struggling to his feet and wondering what the hell had happened, Toy shouted commands.

"Focus fire! Take them out one by one! Proc bots! Drop some shields on everyone! Combat Toy! Forget the flamethrower, it's not working!" he shouted.

Pretty soon, things seemed to be pretty well in hand. Small Toy had suffered from a crushed leg, but a quick nano-bot infusion fixed that. With the Pumicites driven back for the moment, Toy looked over at the pink armored figure behind him. Sweeping his arm out, Toy made a fancy bow at Essex.

"I take it that you are the one who prevented my brains from being dashed upon the lunar surface?" he said, in much more dignified tones then he had been speaking before. "I thank you for your timely assistance. My name is Toy Dispenser, and you are...?"

"I-I....ah..." In truth, Essex was quite speechless, her eyes wide behind her blast shield. She'd never really seen Pumicites before, though she'd heard of them on Earth. And she hadn't expected to see them on the moon. To be honest, this fellow was quite a bit stronger than she, and they'd managed to get a lucky shot on him - she wondered if she was in the right place. Her processor working to get her back up to speed on the situation, she dropped out of Hover mode and landed neatly on her feet - the crest on her helmet reaching roughly the middle of Toy's torso. With one last glance at his little troupe of robots, she offered a little bow in return to Toy.

"I am designated with serial identification S6...But...Most people call me Essex. Repair is my primary function, with an emphasis on both organic and inorganic support systems."

Tilting her head to the side, she looked up at the larger android, somewhat quizzically and curiously. "You said your name was...Toy Dispenser? How interesting. And your allies work well together." Essex allowed herself a little smile as she regarded Toy's subordinate robots, but then looked back up at him with sympathy.

"I apologize for the loss of your friends near the mouth of the cave," she murmured, with another little bow.

Once I got here, though, some of the technicians were having some problems with Moon Base Beta...they asked me to do some field observation and collect samples of any rogue plant seedlings. I've been unable to get close enough though...as I said, I am..."

At this, she reddened, and glanced down.

"...not very skilled at combat. Repair and research - I am good for very little else."

Toy shook his head after Essex stopped talking. A muffled clanking drew attention to his attendant bots, which had suddenly moved forward. The big assault bot looked down on the small defender, its red sensor strip glowing menacingly.

"Paragon, huh?" Toy said after putting a hand out in front of Combat Toy. The bot looked down at its master but it did stop moving.

"This is quite unfortunate. I assume that neither your creator nor the officials at Moon Base Beta gave you much in the way of the situation here?" Toy asked.

"Situation?" Essex echoed.

Toy sighed and multipled panels up and down his sides popped open. Removing a small black component from each panel, which promptly shut afterward, the mastermind rapidly put together a laser rifle which he let hang down by his side.

"To put it simply, my dear, the two of us are enemies. I am working for the current owners of Moon Base Alpha, the 5th Column. You are working for the owners of Moon Base Beta, the Freedom Corps. As you see, it could never work out," Toy lifted up the gun and leveled it at Essex's head. "But let it never be said that Toy Dispenser is not honorable. A life for a life. You saved me and I shall spare you. Flee now, while you can, for the next time we meet it shall be as enemies."

Combat Toy loomed over Essex, a thing that it did well, and boomed out in its deep voice.

"I'll look forward to smashing your pretty little head in, cape."

Toy's outstretched arm shot up and clouted Combat Toy in the chin.

"A..aah...!"

Essex's eyes widened again as the group seemed to turn on her, one of the robots looming over her menacingly as the others regarded her in anticipation with various offensive clicks and whirrs. Listening to the words of Toy, she unsurely took a step back.

"But...I...."

It was then that he levelled the laser at her head. Toy's words struck at her like a blow.

"Flee now, while you can, for the next time we meet it shall be as enemies."

For a moment, she looked up at Toy with an expression of childlike hurt and fear. Hadn't she just helped him? She was only fulfilling her function...And they were both androids. How were they so different? Why did people have to despise each other?

It was true that she wasn't a very experienced hero - but one dominant trait about her personality was that she hated seeing people hurt or in trouble. Inwardly, she wondered how that could make her an enemy to anyone...

Then, she was startled from her thoughts by the movement of Combat Toy. The diminutive Essex swallowed uneasily, backing even more as the huge henchman sneered down at her with a menacing taunt.

At that moment Toy turned and struck his henchman back with a movement that startled her greatly. Mind racing, she immediately leapt into the air and her thrusters blasted backward, firing her back through the caves. She fled, terrified, from the Mastermind and his robots, her armor scraping off walls as she took sharp turns through the narrow passageways at blinding speed. Finally, she shot out of the mouth of the cave, nearly colliding with Ace as she blew past him, back, away, anywhere that she could calm down...

It was her first encounter with a 'villain.' And it frightened her.

On another part of the moon another battle was being waged.....

"You cannot win!" said OmegaGuy as he lit fire to the nearby robots
"Your oposition is pathetic, your lifesigns read 40%, chance of victory:0% You have lost" said the insidious MM, Son of Megatron
Using his fire sword and using earths embrace (Now "Moons Embrace" I guess) he cut through the battalion of robots and ran full speed into SoM.
"ERROR!" yelled SoM as he grabed Omega's head and slammed it into the ground.
As he did this, a flurry of arrows hit his back.
"Aye! You shant be doin that ye scallywag!" Yelled Omega's sidekick, LEP-recon.
"STATEMENT: How did you arrive here?"SoM yelled as he removed the arrows out of his back
"Well, Lad, they dont call me LEp-Recon for naught! I snuck me way over here and got meself in a few good hits,eh?"he said pumping another 10 shots into SoM's back.
"So you think you are strong? Activat program X88Y" said SoM pulling out a Laser Cannon and hitting LEP square in the chest.
"You forget about me?" said Omega
"NO" yelled SoM fireing 4 shots into Omega's chest....but they never made contact.
"Hmm.....energy vs crystals? Who wins?" he said as hecracked his knuckles.
"ACTIVATING PROGRAM:WEAKNESS"said SoM as he used his fist to punch a hole in Omega's armor
"NO!!!" but it was too late. His powers began to take control.
his heat reached over 10000 degrees as he lost control
"GET OUT OF HERE LEP!!!" he said as he ran past his friend and sidekick.
"May the luck of the irish be wit you laddy!" he yelled as he ran in the oppsite direction.
SoM chased Omega to an open crater" You have been defeated. Your cape is mine. All your base are belong to us"
" YOU THINK THAT!!????!!! " Omega said, but his voice was lower, it sounded demonic.
"EXECUIT PROGRAM: RETREAT" SoM knew what was coming.
20 seconds later the area the crater was was now no more then an incredibly deep hole. LEP came back after hearing the explosion.(YES THEY CAN HEAR THERE)
"lad you need to gain better control of yer powers." said LEP, weilding a peice of scrap metal onto the fist-sized hole.
"Your right.....but lets resume our mission"Omega replied
"Aye" LEP said. Omega couldn't stand up, he was drained of all power, so LEP carried him as they headed to base beta......

I traveled onward. Exploring as I went. I was looking for the meteor craters and anything else that was interesting along the way. I still couldn’t get over the fact that I was on the moon. Jumping in the lower gravity was exhilarating it was like having a mini super jump on at all times. As I took off at the next jump, I spotted something glinting in the distance. I changed course to investigate. As I got closer I could tell it was metal. It was a downed satellite. It appeared almost fully intact. How it survived the landing I’ll never know. As I got closer I saw some letters on the side they looked Russian.

[You have earned the Cosmonaut Badge]

It looked like it had been there for a while. I wondered how it had gotten here, and for how long it had been here. So many mysteries, How did the satellite get here, how did this pocket of atmosphere get here on the moon, who or what caused all this? I noticed that I was close to the wall of the Sea of Vapors. As I looked at it I could spot a crevasse along the side. I went to investigate.

The Crevasse was small. I was surprised that I was able to spot it from the satellite. As I traveled deeper into the Ravine it widened. I spotted some sort of strange structure in the distance. It was a large black Monolith. I circled the Monolith, looking for an entrance. I could find none. I wondered if it could be on top. There was an outcropping of rock just below the top of the Monolith; it looked like I could reach it if I jumped to the top of some rocks nearby.

I jumped to the rocks and propelled myself toward the out cropping of rock. I made it but barely. From here I think I could reach the top of the Monolith if I timed my jump just right. I ran and jumped just as I hit the lip of the outcropping. I soared threw the air, and just as I reached the apex of my jump I cleared the top of the Monolith. I had made it.

[You have earned the Monolith Badge]

I was right there was an entrance to the Monolith, unfortunately I could not get it open. It looked like I needed a special code to open it. Just my luck, I discovered an alien artifact, and an entrance to the artifact and I can’t open the darn door. I decided to head back to the base, perhaps my contact had something else for me to do, and he might know something about the Monolith.

Essex skimmed the surface of the moon, her mental circuits fluttering in panic. Villain...Villain...That was a villain...a supervillain...Accessing internal databases... Mentally, she scrolled through every villain in her mental research file...but she couldn't come across anyone by the name of Toy Dispenser. Her area of expertise was somewhat limited. However, she thought as she flew, the abilities she had seen him use - those were the abilities of a villain who had far surpassed her own capacity for strength.

The little android was still terrified, just wanting to get away as quickly as she could. It was almost as if she could hear that larger Combat Toy stomping after her...

WARNING: LOW POWER. WARNING: LOW POWER. POWERING DOWN.

"A-ah!" Startled, she checked her meters - she had overtaxed her system!! The boosters on her boots began to sputter, and before she knew it, Essex was in a downward spiral. Shielding herself protectively with her arms, she clattered off the side of a rock, sending her spiral out of sync and scraping up her armor, until finally, she spiralled down and impacted the surface of the moon with a sickening metallic crash.

The sensation of pain is a complicated one, to living creatures. However, at its basis it is nothing more than the body's response, notification and registry of physical damage.

That having been said, Essex's mind reeled with pain. "U-ugh..." she murmured. "...Status report...One health unit remaining. Mayday...System has shorted. Resources low. Beginning regeneration sequence in --"

The strike of the butt of an assault rifle brought on a merciful end to the pain, the transition completed with a curtain of darkness...
