The Coliseum

Welcome to the Coliseum, the semi-legal brother to the well known Arena system.

Created for the sole purpose of entertaining those with power and money, the Coliseum exhibits fights much like those of its namesake from ancient times. One day’s worth of fighting could have a team of heroes hampered by power dampeners fighting for their lives against a gang of Hellions. A squad of Nemesis troops might fight alongside those of the Devouring Earth against a small army of Council while afterward a Circle of Thorns death mage reanimates those who died to fight against a small group of villains. Anything and everything goes in the Coliseum as long as it does not harm the patrons from which it gathers money and new gladiators. Any may participate for any reason. The Coliseum is also a place for those seeking to hide from the law; for as long as they fight, the influence of the Coliseum’s patrons will protect them.

OOC: This RP will be a bit different from those that are here normally. Instead of joining you with my own character, I will instead control those you will all fight. Therefore, you can’t instantly knock anything out of the fight. The most you can do is say what you try to do, such as throwing a fireball at a Skull, and maybe add a contingency plan just in case the fireball misses or otherwise fails. I am the ultimate decision on what happens when someone attacks an NPC. PC combat will operate normally.

You can be anything in this thread; a hero, a villain, the Sergeant of a squad of Longbow, or a CoT demon leading his troops into battle. Any mix of powers is acceptable. If you want to be a guy who can fling fireballs, manipulate gravity, and throws cars, that’s ok, just remember that I may point at something and say, “No. You can’t throw cars.” And that would be that.

Have patience, keep an open mind, and let us see if we can make this work as well as I’ve gotten it to work before.

OOC: It all depends on if people join. If they don't show up, I can't start it.

BIC: The fifty yard diameter circle of the Coliseum floor provided more than enough space for most battles. With holographic technology and an entire floor that could be switched, swapped, or combined to form any type of terrain or environment it was more than enough. But all this technological marvel was wasted on this fight, a pair of trolls fighting a hulking pumacite. The fight was already a forgone conclusion; one troll's spine was broken and the other was fighting for his life against the sledgehammer fists of the rock creature. The troll slipped and fell on the plain sand that currently covered the arena and the watching crowd screamed and booed and cheered as his skull was caved in by a foot stomp. The Coliseum boasted a medi-port system on par with that of Paragon City but to use it you need either money or connections. Those two trolls had neither, which might have been the reason for their fighting. But that didn't matter, as the pumacite was being led away and the announcer was annoucing the next fight.

"And here we are ladies and gentlemen! The biggest fight of the night! A straight fight between two randomly picked teams! Let's see who wins!"

Two large doors on either end of the floor opened up to admit the opposing teams onto the arena floor.

OOC: Two teams. Red and blue. First person to post after this is on the Red team. The person after him is Blue team. And after him is Red and then Blue, etc. And about the medi-port. Villains and heroes get automatic use of it, as do team leaders. The general consensus being that those who are capable of putting up a good fight should get the chance to do so many times over.

((OOC- Looks like fun. I might bring my ever-changing insane character into it. Blarg will rise again! And his clown minions too. Basically, he is a Clown MM. I hope that is okay.))

OOC: Ack! Stop telling me what a great idea I have. Trust me, I know that already. If you want to join, just post your character entering through one of the gates. Red team on the left and Blue team on the right. The floor is plain sand and a special transparent metal lets you see the crowd but prevents your attacks from hitting them.

A sinister and demented looking figure stepped out first. His insane grin chilled all onlookers to the bone, it literally went from ear-to-ear. He wore a gray cargo suit for both shirt and pants that had bright purple highlights that appeared to be the jester pattern of Medival times. His gloves and boots were metal and looked like... lilac colored bones. But that was not all. He had bright oarnge hair that was brought back in spikes that were strangely puffed. His face was totally white and had red 'face-paint' on it to make it resemble a Jack-O-Lantern.

Gazing around, the madman let out a high-pitched laugh that made two on-lookers faint and one to barf. Blarg took no notice. His twisted mind looked at all the different possibilities of chos that might be acheived. Today was going to be a good day. Looking over to his shoulder, Blarg said to thin-air, "I wonder when our comrades will come, Mr. Pie? No, I don't think they will mind my insanity. It's my best feature, after all!"

((OOC- Blarg has come. Fear him! Think of him as a Clown MM. He has all pets. Three harlequins, two Mimes, and a Jester.

The Harlequins all have low-level psychic attacks and fencing swords. They prefer to fence, but will start off by sending Psychic Darts at the opponent.

The Mimes are basically Mind/Bubble Controllers. They frequently use Force Bolt to knock their opponents down.

The Jester looks exactly like the ones you see in Medival paintings. Dangling bells on the hat and two-colored costume. There is only one difference. They have no face. It is simply an endless sea of darkness. They have both dark and psychic powers. Think of them as a Dominater that has no Control powers and is something like Psychic Assault/Dark Assault. Strange, yes, but it IS the most powerful pet.

Blarg is totally, completely insane. (as can be said when he talks to Mr. Pie) His powers are those of "Reality Bending." All his pets come directly from his insane, twisted mind. His "Signiture Power" is a Mass Confusion type power. It gives anyone he uses it on a glimpse into his mind, which drives his victim completely insane. It might or might not were off. Okay, enough OOC! Time for chaos!))

After the clown another figure stepped out his face was covered under a hood and a skull mask with glowing red eyes. this figure was dressed in all black with red markings on his clothes.. The man summoned a fiery sword as his body was surrounded by a black aura. Before the crowd, stood Sin Reaper. Hells' champion. Everything about him seemed magical from the aura to the flaming blade he held in his hands. Sin Reaper looked at the clown then waited for the next combatant to come out.

The vibrations of the excited crowd made her uncomfortable. The bright lights hanging from the rafters nearly blinded her. Here she was being forced to fight, not for the right to mate with the perfect male but for entertainment. Fights like this weren't unheard of on her home planet, just very rare.

Females on her home planet ruled with an iron fist. They selected males from centuries of strict genetic testing to breed with. She was an abomination in her cultures eyes. Her mother had mated with an inferior species and she was the result. Sure her father had some rather unique abilities, he could fly, was resistant to most types of damage, and on a side note could use kinetic energy to enhance himself. He was a hero of earth or so he said. Her mother had fallen in love with him but had lost the right to mate with him in a fierce battle. Unfortunately for her, the battle was just a formality as she was already growing in her mothers wound.

Like most of her kind she was short for earth standards, but a giant on her home planet. Standing nearly five foot tall, her white hair cascaded down to her waist. Her dull grey exo-skeleton contrasted greatly to the blue stripe painted on it. Her forearms extended her peoples deadly poisonous spikes, as did the back of her calfs. She had been told that she was as beautiful as she was deadly.

So here she was, a Cross Breed, fighting make believe battles, on an inferior planet all because her mom wanted to make it, with an alien.

(OK fixed it)

OOC: Blarg and Gideon are Team Red for now and Cyric and I will be Team Blue. Any one else who wants to join can hop in on either team or just watch the fight.

BIC: A trio of heavily armored figures stepped out from behind Cross Breed. Their mechanical spider legs twitched as combat programs activated and they began tracking their owner's eye movements. The Crab Spider Webmaster surveyed the competition with an experienced eye and turned to his Longfang followers.

"This should be a piece of cake, boys." He said confidently, "And you, woman; you can handle the guy in armor. My men and I can handle the doofus brigade over there, you got that?"

That last bit was directed at Cross Breed and emphasized by an armored fist smacking into a gauntleted palm. The Longfang's took up flanking positions next to their leader and readied the machine guns built into a few of their spider legs. As they prepared themselves for the fight, the announcer came back on.

"Alright ladies, gentlemen, and others, we have our fight ready to go! Who will win? Sin Reaper augmented by Blarg the Hobo and his crazy clowns? Or maybe the deadly Cross Breed and Captain Farfield's Crab Spider squad? Let's find out! Fight!"

A loud bell rang and the doors slowly began to grind shut.

All at once, the three Crab Spiders opened up with machine guns and disintegrater beams on Blarg's clowns.

Blarg grinned and unleashed his deadly rays of inanity directly out of his head and into a helpless Wolf Spider. On the other hand, his minions attacked in random spurts, it was impossible to guess what they would do. Blarg sent the Jester to attack the one that everyone--including the now insane Wolf Spider--was laying waste to. Blarg grinned his insane smile and laughed again.

Suddenly, looking over to his shouder, Blarg stood deathly still as he gazed at it before saying, "Yes, I beleive so. Musn't let ourselves have ALL the fun!" Turning to his magical companion, Bllarg said, "Care to destroy the lady? I always enjoy a show!" The mad clown gazed at Sin Reaper with a stare that would make most tough men's head explode. Blarg hoped that would be the case with the magical man.

The man standing next to her in the uniform had addressed her. Angered that a male was addressing her she knew that what he said had no bearing on the battle unfolding in this Coliseum. She watched as the spider like humans attacked the clown like fencers. If she wasn't participating this might be fun to watch. Across the arena was a dark clad armored figure. Judgeing by its size and its broad shoulders it was most likely a male. Humans are such a wasteful species throwing away all there genetic codes for sport. She would ablige them after all this is what paid for her meals.

Flexing her legs muscles she leaped into the air, her inertia dampened by result of her fathers genetic code. She landed infront of the armored male. Gathering the nearby photons in the air around herself she cloaked her self in darkness. "Time to die Mudcrawler", she said to the armored male.

Sin Reaper couldn't see the woman till she struck. He then swung his fire sword and missed her by an inch. She went to impale him with one of her spines But Sin Reaper blocked it with his Sword. He then opened his mounth and spit out fire at the women. She dodged it again. The two circled each other and then charged. The woman shot out more spines but Sin Reaper breathed fire on them burning them to a cinder. Though the woman couldn't see it, Sin smiled. He then chuckled. "Do you think you are a match for the Champion of Hell." He asked as he chuckled again.

Just as the fight began, the insane clown thing shot a ray into one of Farfield's men. Almost instantly, the affected Crab Spider whirled around and lunged at the Captain. Used to dealing with rebellious subordinates, Farfield grabbed the man's arm as he lunged past and slapped an emergency deactivate button on the back of his armor. The Longfang collapsed, his mad laughter still echoing across the comm. link until Farfield cut him off. When the man had gotten over whatever had affected him then he would reactivate his armor. Until then, he had a jester thing to deal with.

The remaining Longfang finished firing a barrage into a clown and that minion, having been targeted since the beginning, collapsed and slowly faded away. But then a force bolt slammed into the Crab Spider and knocked him back against the wall. Righting himself, the Longfang bellowed a challenge over his suit's speakers and charged. He may not have been especially fast but once he got moving his armor gave him a lot of momentum. Another force bolt slammed into him but it only made him stumble before he slammed into one of the Mimes. Readying his wrist blades, the Longfang slashed at the demented clown minion.

While the Longfang charged, Farfield had his own problems. The Jester was a truely disturbing beast, its face nothing but endless blackness from which various attacks emerged from. A fencer and the second mime joined the attack on Farfield and put him on the defensive. Missing one third of his squad, Farfield was sorely pressed to keep himself alive. Bracing himself, five of his spider legs erupted in red light, bathing the area in front of him in disingigrator beams. The minions that were engaging him dodged and mostly escaped harm but the point was to break up their attack. Canceling his supression fire, Farfield charged the fencer while firing a machine gun burst at the jester. Taking out the fencer would be both faster and easier than going straight for one of the stronger minions.

She looked at the man in the armor. "You are just a man in a suit of armor, afraid to face the real world.", she said bluntly. "On my home planet, It would be right to kill you for striking at me. Here on this planet it is pleasure."

She lashed out with her spikes hopeful she would pierce his armor. This man was no match for her, after all he was just a man.

Blarg grinned and stepped nimbly in front of the charging Longfang before driving him mad. Looking over to the invisible companion on his shoulder, Blarg remarked, "No, Mr. Pie. I do not believe they enjoy my pets. Shall we finish this?" Listening to the words that did not exist in sane minds, Blarg nodded. Turning around and grinning, the insane clown let loose a massive surge of psychic energy onto the two standing men in front of him while his minions attacked.

((Can we change the scenary? You did say it would change... I think. ))

Sin Reaper looked at the woman. "I was a man.A man who lived and died a thousand years ago but was brought back as something more." The woman tried to impale him with the spike but his armor was to strong. he then surrounded his fists in flame and took a swing at her hitting her in the stomach while slightly burning her in the process.

She offered the armored man an opening and he took it. His fist came up hitting her in the stomach. Her exo-skeleton charred a little bit but that pain was bearable. The force of the armored man's punch caught her off gaurd a little bit. She hadn't suspected a man to be so powerful.

Gathering her sense quickly she rolled down the armored mans arm. Landing close enough to him to see his charred armor she launched a spike into his armpit, at the same time launching another spike deep into the back of his knee.

She smiled. This fight was over before it began.

Sin Reaper pulled out both spikes as his dark regeneration activated Draining some of the womans' Life force as well as the Life force of the combatants that were in battle with the insane clown.Sin Reaper chuckled as he saw the woman and the other two men feeling drained. He then sliced her across the chest with his fire sword causing a deep wound and burning her at the same time.

With a loud groan, a huge piece of the ground in between Blarg and the Crab Spiders rose up and formed a wall. At the same time, other walls began rising one after another until Captain Farfield and Blarg were effectively blocked off from their men, or clowns, if you will. Blarg's pyschic attack disipated harmlessly against the rock wall.

"What the hell!" shouted Farfield, "I thought the maze was supposed to come up in the next fight! Damn it!"

The Webmaster pivoted and slammed his fist into the wall, causing a few chunks of rock to fall off. After a quick comm. conference in which Farfield learned that his Longfang's were still together, he gave the sane Longfang the information he needed to reactivate the other one's armor. Then, he set off down a random passage in an attempt to find that crazy [censored] clown and put an end to this fight.

OOC: Sin Reaper and Cross Breed are still right next to each other.

Blarg stared at the wall and mentally contacted all of his troupe. His little band of insane clowns nimbly went over the wall, just like acrobats at a circus. THey stood around, did tricks, and genberally just did what clowns do. Blarg unexpectedly turned and went down a hallway with his Clowns close behind. Turning a corner, Blarg saw a very annoyed Longfang wandering around. The insane clown grinned while motioning his troupe to follow him up onto the wall. He mentally ordered them to attack the surprised and angry Longfang. Laughing maniacally, Blarg decided not to send the man into insanity. It was WAY too much fun to watch him die.
