A tip to the OP, if you are going jitsu secondary get the trops....it helps, toss the trops on a door way, run in AS one guy, run away...granted I have not tested this, just something that I thought would be good to try out. My only question is, will you be able to rehide even though the trops are doing damage?
[/ QUOTE ]
This does NOT work. Every time the trops deal damage, you are unhidden. Once a hero lands on your trops and takes damage, you will be visible, even if you placate that hero, you won't be able to AS him due to the damage dealt by the trops canceling your placate effect.
[/ QUOTE ]
Unless something has changed, caltrops do not unhide you. The mobs will aggro on you but it does not take away your hidden status.

lol I thought I had seen this one before.
On the topic though, something new happened to me last night (as in happened in July 06).
I was fighting Ms Liberty (solo) in an instanced mission and she killed me. I went to the Hospital and on the way back to the door turned on Hide and my other toggles. I was in Hidden state before I left the bottom of Lord R's tower. So I trought Grandville and get to the door, zone in (still hidden), travel the map, go up the elevator, travel the map (all while hidden) and walk up to Ms L it prep my attack.
And she turns around and starts whaling on me. [censored]??
Me = hidden and just back from hospital
Her = so what? and pound-pound-pound
Saw Mynx not lose aggro in the same way. Maybe those two are running some +perception power after they aggro, because before they aggroed I could walk up and wave my hand in front of their face. Not so fun a surprise.

Seems like all mobs are behaveing like this. If they have seen you once, they seem to always see you even after they are no longer agrod on you and you are hidden.
no i think it's just av's (and eb's if you're on an easier diff setting) now always remember
haven't tested it myself though
but if they didnt see you the first time you snuck up, then it's not perception, it's just not losing aggro

In the past it's been my experience that a trip to the Hospital, though the zone back to the mission, through the map and up the elevators and through more map back to the mob has been sufficient time / distance to allow the mob to cool down and lose aggro.
It might not be new to everyone, but returning from the Hospital into an instanced mission and having the mob still aggroed is new to me.
it is new to i7

Zen is correct. I thought we went over this?
_Castle_'s talked about it before. According to my understanding, once a mob aggros onto you, it always knows where you are, even after you re-hide. The only thing getting out of range does is give them a chance to target someone else. That's why you can still be shot at directly through hide.
This is especially troublesome on ambush spawns, particularly in mayhem missions, as they come pre-aggroed. You can get hit like hide isn't even on. No amount of hide, stealth, etc. can prevent this. It's the way Mob AI is coded.
According to _Castle_ it has to work this way, at least for now. One idea I had was to have Hide issue a "Placating Pulse" in PvE in a large radius whenever it re-hides. I don't know if this is valid from a coding standpoint, and ambushes would still be a problem, but it would cut down on being targeted through hide without having to change the fundamentals of Mob AI.

Personally I would like to see Placate work on more mobs than just one.
Maybe like how Taunt works on 5 mobs or how Blind has a chance to affect more than one mob.

I luv the slippery slope philosophical approah of ur sig castle ;-)
I think we are talking about two slightly different things here (or at least I am )
Mobs knowing where you are after you re-hide --> if you still have their aggro <-- has been the "normal" way of things since the CoV beta.
However, in the past, my experience has been that mobs eventually loose aggro.
Its also been my experience that once a mob looses aggro and you are Hidden you can go back up to them and they will not react to you. You can e/ boombox in front of them or do what ever you want; as long as you are Hidden nothing happens until *you* start hostilities once again.
If you run away and break Line if Sight I have never seen a mob retain aggro for an extended period of time. The Boss or AV thats chasing you eventually stops, looses interest, and wanders back to where they spawned. Even if they chase you right to the mission door, exiting the mission waiting five or tens seconds before reentering would cause the aggro to be lost.
I can specifically remember lots of times where I re-entered the mission and saw the mobs walking back to their spawn point. I was Hidden and they did not see or react to me because they had lost their aggro so I would sprint to catch up and line up an AStrike while they were in the process of walking back to their spawn point.
Same thing for being chased inside a mission and not being forced all the way out the door
once you see the targeting reticle (has to be that because you are out of LoS) on the mob thats chasing you stop moving, turn around, and start wandering back, you can run up to them (while Hidden) and /e boombox as they wander back they will not re-aggro on you. Thats happened to me while being chased by minions, Lts, bosses, and EBs.
Up until Ms Liberty / Mynx I have never had any mob, including EB's, keep aggro after I go to the Hospital and return to the instanced mission. They could see me even though I was Hidden precisely because they had not lost aggro. That's why started to beat on me again. The issue is that the aggro should have dropped way before I got back into the mission, not that they could see me while Hidden due to their status = aggroed.
So the issue Im pointing is not that they can see you when you are Hidden if they still have aggro. Its that the aggro never, ever, dropped... and that's not the way it's should work.
