Positron looked up at the huge sphere on top of the Physiks building a block away.
"What the.... ???"
Activating several sensor arrays, he searched for the source.
"Hot damn, it's green to me."
After about 20 minutes of build-up, a massive tachyon pulse speared upward, striking the sattelite's main emitter dish.
It exploded.

( OOC: Jeez, one day of school and a war starts! Well I wont have much time for posts but I'll try to post one here or there. I have 2 projects due monday and we have Hurricane Wilma as well..)
Eddy head was pounding. He slowly got up and looked around. After a few minutes of nothing but blurry images things started to clear up. He looked to see if Ms. Parker's assistant was alright. She was against a wall and her leg looked in some pain, but other than that she looked alright. Suddenly, he recognized her. He had know her from High School.
( Is that Mallory? Mallory Swanson?)
His thoughts were confirmed when they spoke to her by the same name. He figured he would catch up with her at a less "hectic" time. Someone had healed him. He figured it was the lady who wasn't there a few minutes ago. She had revealed her name to Ms. Feynman, she was Lady Gwenivere. After a while of listening to their conversation he knew what was going on. Apparently the men who destroyed the lab were Legion soldiers. He had heard of Legion before, they were a very large company in the weapon industries. And now they were in some kind of battle against Crey Industries, he had only heard of them from the scattered advertisments in Paragon City. After a while, the ladies decided it was time for some action. Lady Gwenivere asked him if he could take care of himself, he was uncertain because he hadn't tested the suits combat capabilites yet.
"Haven't tested it in combat yet, but we'll know soon enough."
A few minutes later he was ontop of a rooftop with Mallory, Ms. Feynman, who know had revealed her powers, Ms. Parker,
Lady Gwenivere, and a large group of women who appreared to be fellow superheroines of Parker and Lady Gwen. He put his helmet on and was ready for battle. He raised his fists and they began to glow a bright crimson color..
(OOC: Well level wise Makavell is only level 7, but Rp wise he could fight better. I won't make him a pro at it, since he hasn't tested the combat features of the suit. )
Kate's heart was beating as she got to the top of the building. She gazed at the chaos in the city below.
She had walked forward through the crowding of heroes and was approaced by a glittering heroine with dark brown hair falling just past the shoulders. The hero had questioned why Kate was there, but Kate happily showed off the disciplines she had learned starting at a young age due to having spent all of her time in her father's studio. Since her mother had died giving birth, she and her father had only eachother. He, too, was dead, but Kate could not bare to think of that. There was too much going on around her.
After her incounter with the woman, she continued to wander until she happened upon Mallory lying unconscious on the gravel of the rooftop. Kate immediately attempted to wake her, but it was no use. She then tried to gather some help for Mallory from some of the many heroines around her.
"Help! Please, can any of you help her?" Kate yelled with a tear in her eye.
Kashaye and Gwen both turned.
"Wait.. how did she pass out? She was busy bubbling all of us... "
Gwen leaned close. "She's worn out. Her leg needs some attention that I can't cure, but I can dull the pain easily enough. But she's not unconscious, she's asleep. And, judging by the way her eyelids are moving, a DEEP sleep. I think she just used up too much endurance too fast. She'll be fine in an hour, maybe two."
Kashaye keaned down, and easily hoisted the sleeping Mallory in her arms. "I can carry her. But we'll need to find a safe place for her, one that can be watched."
As one, the assembled strike force activated their various travel powers and started moving toward Gimry Ridge, where Crey had set up a command and control station to coordinate their forces against Legion.

((I hope someone has Recall Friend because Clarisa Feynman is only lvl 9...LOL))
While enroute, Clarisa handed out communication devices to the "team" and requested that they use channel Tango ((hehehe...T for Team)).
Clarisa surveyed the landscape as they traveled. Crey forces were battlling Legion in small groups. Physiks's forces where intermixed when Legion's numbers were reduced. Even though they had a common foe, they did not seem to be working together with a unified plan. It was clear to Clarisa that THIS team needs to work together to be successful.
"Ok Team, I'd like to put Soulll Trainnn in charge of our tactical maneuvers. It's important that we work as a focused force, lest we be divided and conquered." ((passing the star))." A purple glow surrounded Clarisa as she activated her super reflexes and prepared for Kashaye's assesment and tactical direction.
((When Matamoros has time, he can join us or run a separate team but talk to use on "friends" channel. I definitely understand how hard it is to keep up with all the happenings in this thread, so don't feel pressured to write. It needs to stay fun and enjoyable. Other writers who do write often, need to leave openings for other heroes. Thanks! /end public service announcement.))

((OK, this is how this is going to work. I'm assembling squads that someone can 'write in' as they need to. If you need someone on an 'a la carte' basis, write it as if your needed resource notices you're in trouble and jumps in. Or we can set the whole bunch on NPC mode and let them engage Crey as a tactical maneuver, while we focus on specifics.))
Soul nodded, and stood up straighter. (( toggles: Assault and Tactics - if anyone drops she'll pop Vengeance as well ))
"Alright everyone. Crey is running a command/control outpost at the very top of Gimry Ridge. They've sent the regular crooks packing... so all we have to deal with is them, and the civilians. We need two flank teams and a larger frontal assault team. 5 people each on the flanks, 8 on the frontal. Crey's got a lot of nasty toys, and their Revenants and Protectors aren't a laughing matter. So do this by the numbers, no crazy stunts.
War Valkyrie, Voodoo Child, you're team leads for the flankers. Both of you are controllers, so your job is to lock down the opposition so that your teams can punch through. Big Momma, go with War Valkyrie, she'll need you to make as much trouble as possible up front. Rockslide Red, you do the same for Voodoo Child. Scimitar Dancer and Ginsu, you girls get to use your blades. Thank me later. Jayne Doe, Cold Shoulder, provide artillery support for the flank teams, decide among yourselves which you want to go with. Finally, Acid Trip and Heavy Weather, pick a team, you're the defensive end of things."
The named heroines nodded, and split into two satellite teams, conferring among themselves.
OK, Clarisa, stick with Gwen ((you're now sidekicked to a level 30)). I'll provide additional cover. I'll need Miss Frigid along as artillery. Kate, you're assigned to Miss Frigid, OK? (( Sidekicked to a level 25 Ice Blaster.)) Sister Disco, you're our lockdown. Makavell, you get to help her out. ((sidekicked to a level 28 Illusionist)) Hot Flash Helen, tank for us.
One other thing. Mallory here needs someone to watch her until she recovers. Radical Lass, Vivica Shox, you two. Set up someplace where you're out of the thick of it, but also where you can see and provide overwatch, OK? I know you girls want to get into it, but I need some support of my own. ((Mallory is now sidekicked to either a Level 31 Rad/Rad defender, or a level 35 elec/Elec blaster)).
The rest of you, provide cover fire, distractions, evac and medical assistance as you can. Don't get dead.
OK teams... advance to Crey perimiter and take out the sentries. Give 'em all a boot to the head!"
Soul turned to Clarisa. "Boss, you know you don't have to worry about travel powers when I'm around." She popped Inertial Reduction and Speed Boost, and Clarisa was endowed with super speed and superjump abilities, as she was the very first time she met Kashaye.

(( Okay...slightly busy the past few days...annoying little things here and there...but I think I can grab some time today))
The white cloaked man and crimson cloaked man spoke again. They were watching over a well-known Spaniard donning a familiar, albeit a new and more advanced version, red and gold armor.
The crimson man spoke, "How did you get him up and running so quickly? You ARE a genius!"
"No, it wasn't nearly enough time to upgrade his anatomy with the cybernetics. I only managed to install a few into his legs. He's running purely on drugs right now. Everything from 'dine to venom..."
"What?!?" the crimson-cloaked man exclaimed. He paused a moment, weighing in the gravity of the situation. "I guess it was unavoidable. It appears everything goes as planned so far. Crey will be out of the way soon enough."
"Also, there wasn't enough time to install the proper shielding mechanisms. Instead, a smaller, incomplete version has been installed on the armor. It may not stop a full blast, but it will enhance his defense against small-arms fire."
"That will have to do for now." The crimson-cloaked man said, stepping away from the doctor in the white cloak and approaching the now-armored Spaniard...Matamoros. "Everything goes well. Our delaying actions have been successful, innocents are being moved back, and Martel's assault has proven overwhelmingly effective. The Hammer has smashed the evil in the Hollows and the Death Legion now swings around to crush Crey. They've completely underestimated our capabilites and have left their very own headquarters lightly guarded. Nearly all of their focus is their assault on Physiks and chasing down our 'retreat.'"
Matamoros turned to him, his muscles massively expanded and his veins pulsating. The drugs were taking their toll, straining the body, forcing it beyond 100% potential. "Good. I will lead the counter-attack against Crey, stop their forces dead in front of the compound. Have Martel swing around, flank them, and hit them from behind. I will serve as the anvil, he will be the hammer." He paused for a moment, slowly placing the full helm onto his head. "What will you do, Inquisidor?"
"I will muster the rest of our soldiers and oversee the evacuation of the innocents. The corrupt will undoubtedly be among them and must be weeded out."
"Paragon will finally be bled clean of the evil that has plagued her." Matamoros took up a rather large, metal backpack and slung it onto his back. Several other clerical figures came to him, carrying a small gatling gun, and attached the ammo feed from the pack to the gun. Matamoros strapped it to his shoulder, then slung Torquemada over his other shoulder. He felt no strain, not with the various injections he was given. He nodded to the crimson-cloaked man, Inquisidor, then moved towards the elevator and made his way topside...
Mallory felt herself moving. Her eyes were still closed and she was still very asleep, but her brain sensed movement as the two heroines that had been assigned to protect her were carrying her to a safer spot. They carried her over to an elevator that had roof access and leaned her up against the wall facing away from the battle. It was much quieter there, and they could get up on top of the small structure to keep an eye over everything else that was happening.
"You watch her first. I'll go up there." Mallory heard vaguely.
"Fine... but if something happens, tell me, she'll be fine here and we could help." Electricity and static discharges started crackling around her fists as she thought about the upcoming battle. Mallory didn't see this, of course.
The first woman started to climb quickly and gingerly up to the top of the elevator housing.
Just two or three minutes later, a piercing scream was heard coming from the general direction of the battle. The heroine on watch jumped down without alerting the other and started running across the roof. Vivica heard the scream too, however, and dashed around the corner and sprinted to catch up with her sg-mate. Mallory was left alone for a moment, but she too had heard the scream and it had roused her out of her sleep.
It took a good 90 seconds of being awake before she was able to open her eyes. She tried to stand up, but her muscles wouldn't respond. She felt more tired than she ever had before, but her little rest had gone a long way toward restoring her. Even her leg didn't hurt as much as it had been.
After another few minutes sitting, Mallory was finally able to stand up. She couldn't put too much weight on her right leg, and she still felt pretty sore in the abdomen, but she was able to hobble along the rooftop toward the sounds of battle on the ground below and in the air ahead. When she finally arrived, she was horrified by the battle going on in front of her. It was somewhat difficult to tell the difference between the scattered Legion forces and the seemingly overwhelming Crey forces, but the Heroines were easy to pick out, darting from group to group, helping wherever they were needed.
As she watched, Crey seemed to be gaining the upper hand through sheer numbers. The Heroes, while rarely defeated, were starting to thin out here and there, and the scattered Legion forces, though they were awesome fighters, were getting overwhelmed. Mallory was torn... she wanted to help save the day, but she was terribly frightened of what could happen to her if she tried to get into it.
On the sidewalk so far below her, she saw three soldiers closing on what looked like a Hero, but was dressed entirely in blue and yellow, with a helmet in the same colors that completely covered his head. It looked like the soldiers, who Mallory thought to be Crey, were going to be able to take down the Hero. She suddenly felt anger growing at the soldiers. Wishing very much that she could do something to help the lone fighter, she looked down at the soldiers and willed them to stop fighting. As she watched, a thin blue haze formed around the group. ((Detention Field)) The soldiers, completely enveloped within the sphere, stopped fighting and just stared out at the Paragon Protect as it rested and jumped away to fight another group.
Mallory continued to watch the battle, too tired to do anything else. She was able to help out the occasional heroine with her defence, but other than that, she could only watch. As the battle started to swing slowly into Crey's favor, Mallory heard a distant rumble coming from the southeast, but was unable to place the sound.
At a forward command post, chaos seemed to reign supreme. However, it was not truly the case. Among all of the screams over the radio, officers and NCO's rushing about, everything was indeed organized.
Although Legion was in retreat, it was an organized retreat. A series of delaying actions were being fought all throughout Paragon, with civilians being relocated to safe, uncontested positions.
"Sir, we have further orders from headquarters," a staff officer said to his commander. He paused a moment and continued, "It appears the orders are directly from...directly from Matamoros."
The commander turned to his staff officer, taking the written orders he was holding into his own hands. He read over them twice to make sure. "Alright, carry them out. The innocents have been relocated and we are now ready to move forward with the operation. Get every field officer on the radio, tell them to fall back to point 'phalanx.' We will reconcentrate and set up defensive positions there."
"Yes, sir. What about the heroes currently battling Crey along side our forces?"
"Do not worry about them. Let them do their job, we will do ours. You have your orders, move out."
"Yes, sir!" He saluted in typical Legion fashion ((stiff right arm forward...stolen from ROME not the other, evil guys you may be thinking of)) and moved out.
===
Matamoros stepped out of the elevator and walked out of the Legion building towards the open compound. Several units were already concentrating there and setting up defensive positions. Once the Legion soldiers spotted him, a cheer went up and their morale was visibly improved. The soldiers chatted among themselves, now certain of victory.
"An elite?!? Here?! We cannot lose now!"
"One of the Seven? Victory is assured!"
"Crey hasn't a chance now!"
Matamoros looked out towards the conflict taking place deep in the city. A surge of power shot into his legs and they emitted a red aura onto the ground. Immediately, Matamoros bursted forward with unnatural speed towards the battle. ((game terms: super speed ))
The left flank group, which had designated itself as Team Tango, had managed to get close to one of the Crey sentry outposts without being detected. However, Team Foxtrot, on the right flank, was not so lucky. Rockslide Red had inadvertently gotten too close to a sentry, and the noise of her rocky armor shifting around as she moved caused him to look up and spot the team.
"Command, this is Owl 3. I have unknowns on my position. They look to be heroes."
"Understood Owl 3. Engage at will, we will send support units."
The three Crey agents and the Revenant manning the post opened fire on Rockslide, who staggered back at the strength of the assault. Heavy Weather immediately kicked up her signature 'hurricane' to provide shelter, and also revived Rockslide with a breath of fresh air. Ginsu whipped out her twin blades ((treat as Katana powerset, but she holds a smaller sword in each hand)) and leapt at the Revenant, her regeneration abilities already kicked into overdrive. She wasn't taking any chances. Voodoo Child attempted to use her magical mindtwisting abilities to lock down the Revenant and keep it from attacking again... but her attempt was botched, and the Revenant instead unleashed a powerful bolt of electricity at her, staggering her and causing her to go into a short spastic dance. Jayne Doe, seeing her team lead hit hard, unlimbered her assault rifle and, drawing a bead on the chestplate of the Revenant's armor, sent a large-caliber slug downrange. The impact was enough to knock the Crey 'hero' off its feet.
-------------------------
Kashaye and Gwen surveyed the sentry they'd have to take care of. "Gwen.. stealth us." Gwen nodded and faded from view. Soon after, so did the rest of the team. They tiptoed closer, and determined that there were two agents in view, and shay could make out the boots of a Paragon Protector behind a stack of communications gear.
"Protector first. Alpha-strike him. On my mark... 3....2....1... MARK!"
The Protector was hit simultaneously by arrows, force bolts, spears of ice, feet, fists, and claws, and at the same time his mind was assaulted with images of him being stripped of his armor and flayed open. The combined physical damage and imagined trauma was enough to make the Protector collapse in shock.
The two agents, on the other hand, immediately locked in on where all the shots came from, and although they couldn't see Shay or her team very well, had a pretty good idea where everyone was. One flipped down a monacle sight over his right eye, and, spotting Clarissa, attemped to take her head off with a spinning back kick. He missed.. but not by much. The other spotted Kashaye, and started to charge her.
She.. felt another strange twinge inside her mind. There was something she could do to this man. Something... useful.
Ah yes! Once she grasped the concept, it was simple.
She gestured... and the man slowed to a stop, seemingly out of breath, as a brilliant blue field emanated out from him, recharging everyone in close proximity. ((Transference - level 26 Kinetic ability - bleeds a significant amount of a foe's endurance off and recharges End on any ally within range)). He brought his sleeve to his mouth to call in for help... but didn't have time to say much, because Kate and Makavell decided to get into the scrap at that point.
"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."
By this time, many Legion units had abandoned their positions and any delaying actions with them. Several units were already falling back with all possible speed, passing right by the superheroines without stopping to assist.
A loud, deep buzz along with a strange jingle was heard throughout the square. Soldiers looked up to see a man in red and gold armor firing down upon Crey with his gatling gun. The empty shells seemingly rained down from the rooftops onto the people below.
Matamoros saw the men standing there, watching. He pointed back towards the Legion compound and screamed "Get to the defensive lines!" He probably wasn't heard over the din of battle, but the soldiers understood through his gestures, nodding and continuing their retreat.
The sound of squeaking and screeching metal and the rumble of mechanical beasts could be heard in the distance. Matmoros recognized the sound as an armored column. Apparently Martel was on his way. Just then, Matamoros looked up to see attack helicopters soaring in the distance, confirming Martel's presence.
The second agent was vaguely aware that his sole remaining partner was in dire straits, but pressed his attack upon Clarisa, who was holding her own quite well against a foe that should have easily taken her down. She'd taken a few hits... but with Gwen behind her, the damage was healed almost as fast as it had appeared.
But she didn't have to fend him off forever. Miss Frigid fired a supercooled blast of air and water vapor at him, at point blank range, and the results were immediate - the agent, frozen in place, was an easy target for Clarisa's furious claw attack.
-------------------
Kashaye noticed the second agent raising his sleeve to his face. *Oh no. We haven't cleared you for communications yet, buddy.* She fired a Force Blast at him, sending him skidding across the grass and into a tree. The followup Speed Siphon made him slow to get up and move back into range... and further boosted her own speed. One more Kinetic energy transfer, and Kashaye, Kate, Makavell, and Sister Disco all had increased offensive capabilities, at the expense of the now-severely-debuffed agent.
"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."
In the midst of all the chaos, Eddy had lost who he was assigned to help. He never even caught her name. After a while of trying to figure out where he was, he activated his anti-grav boots and glided to the nearest rooftop. As he flew higher and higher he saw the battle commencing. There were heroines everywhere, all fighting in large battles, but it looked like no one had a clear hold over victory. Crey had sheer numbers, but ther heroines were making a dent in there forces. When he arose to the roof, he saw a few Crey agents. There were 4 of them, two arguing with each other and the other two standing guard. he hoped not to get their attention, but no luck there. The two Crey agents standing guard saw him and shouted to the other two.
"We got a new target! Let's take it down!"
(Here goes nothing..) Eddy thought to himself.
They began to fire at him but his armor was impervious to small arms fire. As the bullets bounced off him, he raised his fists, aiming at the two agents in the back of the group. He charged energy from his arms and blasted the two and sent them flying and hopefully knocking them onconcious. The larger two guards were heavily armored, so his energy blasts looked like they would't do much to them. The first guard charged him at a abnormal like speed. The guards were most probably injected with drugs to enchance their agility, and possibly strength. The first guard tackled Eddy knocking him backwards. Eddy wasn't much of a fighter but he had an idea.
( If I charge the suits energy into the upper body, I could enhance the suit's strength.) ( Melee based moves such as Energy Punch and Energy Thrust.)
He kicked back the first guard and jumped up. He charged the energy once more and punched the guard square in the chest, the enchanced strength sending him of the roof. Now one guard was left, but when he looked to find him, he was gone. He had probably gone for reinforcements, which wasn't good. After the battle, Eddy felt exhausted. This was his first real combat situation.
( I really gotta get better at this..)
He chuckled to himself and jumped off the rooftop hoping to find some of the heroines, knowing he wouldn't last long alone.

Clarisa saw Kate and Makavell starting their attacks. She looked quickly and noticed a Cyro Tank standing dangerously close to their marks. Thanks to Speed Boost, she was able to reach the tank before he had time to wheel around and target his attackers. To "distract" the tank and his nearby minions, she lept up in air and spun, one arm held high claws extended and the other positioned down into the middle of the spin for balance. SWIPE!
The sound of metal against metal and a few sparks indicated the strike was successful. All nearby foes were now gunning for Clarisa. For a brief moment, she felt less than powerful...where was Gwen? Ahhh...there she was! A fierce blast had knocked her momentarily out of range, but she quickly jumped to her feet like an acrobat and engaged the enemy yet again. Clarisa nodded to her in appreciation. This team was geling well, but the sheer number of Crey were intimidating. Clarisa clawed her way to Kashaye, hoping to get a break in the fighting and plan their next steps.

Makavell was jumping from roof to roof trying to find the heroines. After a few rooftop hops he saw a small group of Crey retreating from what must have been a small defeat. After chasing them down while staying out of sight the group finally slowed to a halt.
He overheard one say "Time for plan B. Bring in the second batallion."
A few moments later the sky filled with what appeared to be robots.. No, they weren't robots..They were more Crey soldiers. But these were clad in armor much larger and more advanced looking than Makavell's. They flew in on anti-grav technology, like his suit, but also much more advanced.
The large battalion had landed and where in large numbers of 30 or 40. He had to find the others and warn them. Before he could even turn the other way something hit him square in the chest. It appeared to be some clamping electronical claw.
( What the hell?)
He quickly turned around to see one of the new soldiers with a dastardly grin on his face.
"We got one alone over here!"
As the soldiers begun to charge him he tried to fly away, but he just fell face first.
( Oh christ, now what??)
He got back up and began to run. But they were gaining by the second. He had to try to slow them down. He quickly turned around and tried to do something. But nothing. His suit was energy-less. He looked and the claw and the grim reality came to him. The claw somehow malfunctioned his suit.
Before he could think any more, he felt like a sledgehammer hit him in the head. He was out cold.

Kashaye looked around. "Frigid, where's your charge?"
"Who, that Makavell kid? DAMN! I got my hands full, Shaye!"
Shaye looked around... oh crap! "Incoming! Powersuits, about, 30 or so!" And it looked as if Makavell had strayed too far and gotten jumped. Well, here's hoping the medical transporter still worked. Good news was, the hospital was only blocks away, so he'd not be out too long.
---------------
Team Tango had managed to clear out the sentries on their side of the ridge, and was slowly working their way up to where they could get a view of the command/control station. Team Foxtrot had run into some resistance... but were still making headway.
However, it was looking as if Shaye's team was gonna be Team Mosh... with the wrong dance partners.

Clarisa fought her way to Kashaye. Between slashes and swipes of oncoming foes, she asked "What can we do to gain the advantage here? We can't keep going like this for too long without a break...even with our talented heroes providing endurance.". She flashed a smile in conclusion and kept on fighting.

(( I know. I've been trying to give folks a lot of maneuvering room to write up their own stuff... which hasn't happened!!))
Kashaye wheeled and bled the endurance off of a Revenant, rejuvenating her teammates. "Hang on! We just need to keep these jokers busy! If they keep sending their top talent at us, our two flank teams will be able to take out that C&C transmitter and their entire command structure in Steel collapses!"
Gwen nodded grimly, and stuck an arrow with a chunk of C4 on the tip square between the armor plate joints on one of the powersuits. The arrow exploded, bits of powersuit armor flying everywhere, and the blast knocked 10 other Crey soldiers off their feet. Miss Frigid followed up with several supercooled blasts that froze several more soldiers where they stood.

Clarisa nodded and found renewed energy in the hope that they would be able to strike at the heart of the conflict. Each team pressed forward, steadily and methodically. Crey were falling before their feet and dissappearing to the Zig. They were making progress! But man, Clarisa's arms were getting sore. If she survived this, she'd be hurting tomorrow. Nevertheless, she was glad to have this team working with her. Who would have believed all these non-corporate people could coordinate every move, every attack and be successful. For some reason, she assumed heroes's were victorious on their individual talents alone. She now had a greater understanding. However, things were happening so fast, that she didnt' have time to dwell on it. When the battle was over she would...well, nevermind that, just keep slashing! She said to herself quietly. Keep slashing! Swoosh, swoosh.

"What's going on? All units have assembled and re-organized at point phalanx and Crey has not reached us yet!" A voice crackled over Matamoros's comm.
"Bloody hell," Matamoros responded, obeserving the battle from a high rooftop, "they're ruining everything!"
"Who?! What's going on?!" The voice crackled back.
"These naive...fools! These...'heroes!' They're pushing Crey back towards their headquarters. If Crey manages to concentrate and re-organize their forces, Martel will meet heavy resistance."
"Stop them. Make sure they allow Crey to hit our lines. We need to distract Crey long enough for Martel." The voice replied.
Matamoros unhinged the now empty gatling gun, dropping it to the rooftop with a heavy thud. "Understood," he said, pulling a smoke grenade from his utility belt. Matamoros pulled the pin and tossed it towards the closes group of heroes...a group of heroines battling back a Crey force.
As the team pressed their attack, suddenly a cloud of smoke erupted and obscured everything. Crey forces and the Stilettos alike were disoriented and unable to see more than a foot or so in front of them.
"All Units! Disengage and regroup!" was heard over the Crey command channel.
"What the (cough) hell?"
Kashaye and her team managed to find each other in the smoke, eyes teaaring and throats raw. "Who set that off? Crey?"
Kate shook her head, coughing. "It... (kaaff) .. came from behind us..."
Gwen set about casting various magicks to try and heal the damage and disperse the effects...
------------
Meanwhile, Tango and Foxtrot had reached the top of the ridge, so far without being detected. As one, all of the ranged-attack heroines sniped the command and control apparatus, blowing it to shreds and sending the Crey command staff flying.
After that, it was primarily a mop-up operation atop Gimry Ridge....
(( OK, Matamoros, if you want to continue going after Crey, go for it. The Stilettos and Physiks are going to fall back to the lab. Good story. ))
"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."
((Their technology shall belong to Legion! Soon WE shall have the nifty power-suits, not them! Bwuahahahahaa...ahem...))
As Matamoros observed the effects of his smoke grenade, he soon found himself disappointed. "Hmph...seems they're falling back. I don't get to kill them." For some reason he found it difficult to put his rifle down. It was as if some force compelled him to fire. "No..." he grunted, forcing himself to lower the weapon.
Just as he lowered the weapon, a call came over his comm. "It appears Martel had some difficulty moving through the Hollows. The shelling collapsed Troll tunnels, causing trouble for the armor. He took whatever men and artillery he could in the choppers and is on his way to the Crey facility."
Matamoros responded, "How long?"
"ETA 5 minutes. The artillery has already been airlifted to the surrounding heights, but I doubt Paragonians will appreciate their city being leveled. Make sure the Crey forces remain occupied by our defensive positions. They must NOT return to the facility, especially since Martel is without his armor column."
"Understood. Matamoros out." Matamoros stood and pressed several buttons on a wrist panel. Seemingly out of nowhere a small metallic cube floated into the air, firing small targeting beams in every direction. Matamoros took aim and began to snipe vulnerable units, hitting some and intentionally missing others. He wanted to generally piss them off...make their emotions control them.
The Crey units began to panic and scream among themselves. They were without proper command and were now being sniped.
"What the hell was that?!? I heard a shot!"
BLAM!
"Agh!"
"What the hell! Command, do you read? I have men dropping left and right!"
"Who the hell is that?!"
"Who?"
"Him! Some guy in red and yellow!"
"What the hell! Did he just flip me off!"
"Lets get that son-of-a..."
The Crey forces, encouraged by the sight of retreating heroes and simultaneously enraged by a sniper, rushed forward, still feeling they had the upper hand.
Physiks headquarters was a bit of a shambles. The building wasn't physically damaged, but the orderly shuffle of suited men and women in and out of the lobby had been replaced by several armed guards and heroes.
Clarisa spoke over the team channel and asked everyone to meet back at the lab. The battle reports had indicated that Legion was dealing with Crey, be it in an unothordox manner. Security chiefs had started retreating from the scirmishes. No need for valuable Physiks resources to be squandered. The tide had changed and not in Crey's favor. That was good enough. Physiks had no desire to takeover Crey in a hand-to-hand war. Best bleed them dry in the corporate arena. That thought always brought a smile to Clarisa's face.
She looked around to see who had made it back to the lab.

Kashaye was dead tired.
But after all that had happened, she HAD to get the lab repaired again. Otherwise all of the work up to this point was for naught.
But first things first. Gwen had shown her worth to Clarisa directly, and it was past time to pop the question.
"Clarisa... I have a favor to ask. And perhaps you'll see it as a benefit too. I'd like to have Lady Gwenivere brought on board as a security consultant, assigned to my project, to replace these Legion goons. She can manage security here, and also provide intel on Crey goings-on as part of her heroine missions. I think she'd fit in exceptionally well."

((Jeez, miss one day and the whole Thread descends into Chaos...
Well, since everyone seems to be "pulling out all their stops", so to speak, I guess I will too ))
"Well, isn't this an interesting development." Mr. Greed mused, observing the various images of Legion and Crey battling it out all over the globe, most notably Paragon City. "This could actually work to my advantage." It was then that one of his Observation Satellites caught the image of a large group of female Heroes, all gathered in one place, ready to counter-attack Crey's forces.
"Hmm... no, I can't have that; not yet anyway." Mr. Greed pushed some buttons on the arm of his seat, activating his Detention Satellite. After inputting the coordinates, the satellite targeted the center of the large group of Heroes. With the push of the final button, the Detention Satellite fired a high-powered beam directly onto the group.
Back in Paragon City, the beam hit the center of the group of Heroes, causing momentary confusing that was quickly replaced by shouts of surprise and panic as the beam created a VERY large Detention Field around the Heroes.
Like all of the Detention Fields used by Heroes with Force Field Powers, there was no way for people either inside or outside of the field to break through it. THIS Detention Field, however, had been specifically modified to sap the strength and energy of ALL occupants inside of it (Game Terms: Endurance Reduced to 0, No Endurance Regen; Health Reduced to Red, No Health Regen). In addition, the field would continue to remain in effect so long as the core of the Detention Satellite was operational.
"This should ensure that Crey finishes off both Legion and Physiks." Mr. Greed smiled as he took another sip of wine. "After that, taking down Crey is a simple task." Mr. Greed then noticed that he had missed four Heroes when he fired his Detention Field.
"Oh, well..." Mr. Greed chuckled. "They still don't know how to deactivate the Detention Field, and even if they did..." Mr. Greed's chuckle became laughter. "How would they be able to make it into space?" Mr. Greed sighed deeply, thinking the matter over. "Still... I should probably station one or two of my agents at the Detention Satellite, just to be safe."
((Yes, the four Heroes that Mr. Greed missed were Soul Train, Lady Gwen, Mallory, and Kate))
