It happened in Atlas.... (Open RP)
Blood Wolffe was jumping from roof top to roof top looking for something to hunt. He was no ordinary hero, he was a failed Crey experiment discarded in the wild to die as many failed experiments before him. He would have to except a mortally wounded wolf fused it's soul to his, giving him power. The wolf and he were one.
Blood Wolffe was hunched over the edge of a roof when he smelled something peciliur, a magic he had not yet seen. He bristled up and growled. Then he set off stalking this new prey.
He came upon the creature quickly, looking down on him from above, judging his movements. He was quite a curious creature. Oblivious to everything around him, trampling down whatever was in his path.
Blood Wolffe cocked his head to one side like a confused wolf would. Apparently he did not care for this society, something Blood Wolffe felt as well. He was an unpopular hero because he killed the villians he fought which did not sit well with the "saturday morning cartoon ethics" heroes as he came to call them. They didnt understand that it was his instinct to hunt, to kill. He did not live by the same moral codes as humans. They would not bother to understand him, but maybe this hero would.
"Hey!"
nothing
"Hey you Ice hero!"
still no response. Blood Wolffe bristled a little, he did not appreciate being ignored. He jumped down in front of the Hero and suddenly saw he was completely made of ice.
"What is your name? Do you have one you giant Ice Block?"
...
"Where are you going? Do you need help? My name is Blood Wolffe, if you are going to accomplish whatever it is you are trying to do, you will need someone who knows how things work around here. I can help. What do you say?"
Blood Wolffe could sense something about this creature that was similiar to him. No one understood him and no one understood this thing, not even Blood Wolffe. His pack instincts were taking over giving him a desire to help this poor creature.
"I will come with you, you dont know what the hell is going on do you?"
((Gonna try something here, since the other thread basically died which I rp-ed a little in.))
For once, Joe wasn't out patrolling or combatting or being a generic figurehead for heroism. Today he had decided to take some of the day off since he dropped off his outfit with Serge to get some of the nastier remains of his last fight with Doctor V out.
Sitting in front of the TV, he flips the channels until he watches a newscast of a giant walking block of ice making a beeline through the city. He puts down the remote and hms "You have got to be joking me..." he mutters while settling down in his chair to watch.
((Not every hero is out 24/7, eh? ;D ))

The ice beast kept walking. Whether he had noticed Blood Wolffe walking next to him was anyone's guess. He crashed through a bus stop awning, smashing glass and stomping the roof flat. News teams were starting to become more daring and setting up across the street from this creature. They were talking nervously into their cameras and loking frantically over their shoulders to make sure the icy "person" wasn't turning thier way.
Blood Wolffe finally said something that caused a reaction. "Where are you going? Do you need help? My name is Blood Wolffe, if you are going to accomplish whatever it is you are trying to do, you will need someone who knows how things work around here. I can help. What do you say?"
With that, the man of ice stopped and looked down at the feral experiment walking with him. "The Master has tasked me with retrieving an amulet. I will accomplish this task and be allowed to return home. I will not reside on this plane long enough to learn the ways of the people in it. Your assistance is not needed, but I will not stop you from interfering. If you pose a threat to me, the Master, or the item I am retrieving, then I will destroy you."
He didn't wait for an answer. He resumed his slow, steady pace across the zone. Blood Wolffe watched him walk, and could see his path was going to lead him right into a group of Hellions hanging out on a street corner. Judging from Ice Bloc's actions so far, he wasn't going to walk around them.
The Hellions noticed this as well. They all turned and faced this.... thing headed their way. "Well, look at this cool customer here!" said one of the goons behind his red bandana mask. There was a chorus of laughs that disappeared as they realized that he was still walking. The Hellions started pulling baseball bats and pistols, ready to take on this hero.
As soon as the weapons came out, Ice Bloc paused. His head tilted slightly as if he was intrigued by what these men were holding. That all changed when one of them fired off a round at Ice Bloc. At first, it wasn't obvious if he had even hit him. Then, the ice man looked at his right "shoulder" and saw a starburst crack in it.
He made no noise, no sound that he felt it. Instead he charged forward, growing in size as another layer of frost grew on him. The one who shot him was laid out as an icy fist landed sqare in the middle of his face. He landed a few feet away and did not rise. But then, he just stopped. The ice man just resumed walking. The other Hellions just stood in shock.
((In case you hadn't figured it out, Ice Bloc is an Ice/Ice tank without the Ice sword attacks.))
Tick-Tok was standing infront of a building in Argosy Industrial.
"I smell Circle of Thorns..." He said as he looked at the windows which were flashing green. Then he heard some screams and some crashing.
"The hell..." Tick-Tok said as he looked behind him at a giant Ice Beast.
"Well that is new!" Tick-Tok said as he stood infront of the warehouse.
The police dispatcher recieved a call reporting the presence of an ice monster making its way through the city and vandalizing the neighborhood.
"Car 64, there's a 382 in progress by you."
Officer Jerry responded, "Yeah, I see it. And I saw the gang of hellions he mauled, no way Mark and I are going near that thing!"
"Back-up is on its way," answered the dispatcher.
"Oh great..." muttered Jerry.
Ice Bloc resumed his slow, steady pace across the Industrial Park. The Hellions scattered behind him as a black-and-white rolled onto the scene. The icy hero walked down the street and paused in front of an older warehouse. It had been an old Crey warehouse, but they had long since emptied out and was thought to be empty. The street vibrated with each of Ice Bloc's steps. He calmly walked up to an old rusted rolling door and reared back to punch the door down. The first punch bent it in considerably; the second broke it off the tracks; the third finally sent it back into the room, landing with a noisy crash. As the dust settled, he spoke.
"I have come for the amulet. Give it to me and I won't kill you."
This did not sit will with a rather large group of Hellions that had more then enough time to ready themselves. Three men in demon masks opened fire at once, peppering the icy hero with Uzi rounds. A fourth one cocked and blasted away with his shotgun which was just enough force to send the icy hero flying back off the dock. He landed with a crunch; flecks of ice raining down as he lay on the ground for a moment.
The Hellions could be heard cheering and hurling insults out at the "stupid tank". They disappeared as the "stupid tank" sat up.
Their attention fully on Ice Bloc Blood Wolffe was able to position himself well. He let loose a wave of energy that sent the hellions flying. He then proceeded to blast one with a crushing burst of energy that sent him through a pipe and hitting a wall with a sickening crunch. Hellions didnt make for challenging prey but this curious creature was intriguing to Blood Wolffe, he wanted to see what this thing was all about.
Blood Wolffe sniffed the air for a moment...
"More are coming."
A megaphoned voice stated, "This is the police! Come out with your hands in the air, all of you!" Suddenly a tear gas canister was thrown through the window. "Come out with your hands in the air, now!"
"Come out with your hands in the air, now!"
Blood Wolffe bristled up and started growling.
"You better hurry up you giant ballroom decoration, the cops are here. They dont like you and they certainly dont like me. But dont hurt them they are innocent. I hunt the wicked to protect them."
Blood Wolffe began to search for another exit but it wasnt promising, usually when the police announced their presence they were already swarming all over the place.
"There is something else in there with your amulet, be careful. I am going to distract the police to buy you time."
He was really doing it because he knew the beast would crush anything in its path, maybe even innocents.
So he burst through the window and onto the street with a loud crash.
"Blood Wolffe, put your hands in the air and-"
Before he could finish Blood Wolffe sent a wave of energy to a squad car which crumpled it and sent it over the police officer's heads. It landed far from anyone but it was a mangled peice of metal now. Then he set another squad car ablaze by pointing at it, sending the police taking cover by it running for cover as it exploded.
With enough damage done to distract some he then leaped away, bounding from roof top to roof top.
"That will destroy whatever reputation I have left." He thought.
"Hopefully someone understands what I am trying to do. That thing looks determined and hardly stoppable. I hope it can handle whatever is in there."
Xyfen left the natural store with some fresh Hero-Os
"mmmm...this is fantastic" then he saw blood wolffe jumping from building to building.
"Wow! a wolf..thats crazy!" then he saw the police coming behind him.
"Crap! they found me!" xyfen began running, leaving his hero-os behind. He ran until he met up with IceBlock in front of him.
"......isnt it febuary?" The police then caught up with him. He was between a rock and a hard place.
"Hey, green meaney, get out of the way!" the cops yelled.
"I must get the amulet, or my master will die" said iceblock.
Xyfen turned around.....without thinking too much he teleported Himself and IceBlock away from the cops.
He teleported onto one of the buildings. Near him.
"thank you, Green one" He said.
"dont mention it" at possibly the worst time, Blood Wolffe dropped on the same rooftop.
"Get away from my prey, you troll!" Said Blood Wolffe.
"Trol-"xyfen was blasted of the building before he could finish his sentence.
Captain Neem was flying overhead after a successful raid in Perez Park when he saw the commotion below.
"Wow, something got the cops in this town to actually try to do something? Amazing."
He swooped down to see if he could be of any assistance knowing full well the level of competency that most of the cops in this city posessed.
When he got to ground level he saw the trail of minor destruction left by the Ice Blok on its way to this warehouse and the busted in door.
"Hello officers, looks like you could use a hand. Anything you need my help with?"
As Permafreeze ran through the streets, she noticed a trail of destruction, as well as a sheen that remained from the ice still melting.
"Hmm, maybe I can find somebody else that shares this curse" she thinks as she looks over her own pale skin and the ice crystals forming on the ground from the exposure to her body temperature. As she reflected, she felt better and better about meeting this new man, and so off she went, promising herself that she would not stop until finding another to share in her torment.
Heat Storm hated owing favors, which is why Sergent Williams had called one in. He looked at both the rogue 'hero' Blood Wolffe and a ice gaint. He looked down at his dark blue costum with yellow detail. like flames in his jeans and on his long sleave shirt ended in lighting bolts, it had a mask, also dark blue, and his almost unaturaly red hair stuck out of it. He hated the thing, he hated it because it repressented heroes, and he had a deep haterd for heroes, how he ended up as one was a much longer story. He ran up the fire escape of the building and made it to the top in record time. The field was not one he liked, some poor sap was on the ground and the ice beast was looking around, what he hated most was the glare that Blood Wolffe gave him when he reached the top, the fearl gaze seemed to come from some different branch of the evolutionary tree.
"All right, lets get this out of the was, Blood Wolffe, other hero...I think and ice beast, surrender peacefully and blah blah blah. Right that about covers it. Now the real meat, Wolffe, get the hell out of here and I won't have to be mauled, other guy, get off the feild and let me deal with Icy." He was a realist, Wolffe had done amazing-and terrifing- things to those he stopped. He didn't quite like Wolffe, in his favor he wasn't a glory hound, and he didn't think he had some sort of moral authority from some past wrong, he did kill people, but to be fair he had killed a few of Crey out of sheer rage. But he did drag the title of hero trhough the mud abit.
Heat Storm held out his index finger and pointed it at the ice monolith. "Don't make me blah blah blah. Why can't the Winter Lord just give up." He got ready to cut the beast down if he got a winter lord style respones and he sure didn't want to kill Wolffe, mostly because he didn't want to fight him.
All sorts of heroes were converging on the roof top now. Blood Wolffe could sense that Heat Storm didnt want to pick a fight with him but would if forced to. Blood Wolffe didnt want to pick a fight with him either so they were safe from each other, for now.
He wasn't to popular with heroes who took the moral high ground because they didnt understand his set of morals. He had more of an animal mentality than human which inevitably leads to the law of the jungle, "kill or be killed".
"I think you got this guy wrong Heat Storm" he said.
"He is trying to get an amulet from whatever has it in the warehouse. There are hellions in there... and something else. Give him a chance, I feel his intentions are pure."
Something about Ice Blok's mission seemed important and time could be running out.
The Police helicopter caught up with Blood Wolffe and now a sharpshooter was peeking out the side aiming at him.
"Put your hands in the air and get on the ground, now!"
"Ice Blok, Im gonna grab you and jump."
The beast turned its head and looked at him with what were presumably eyes.
Moving as fast as he could He grabbed the walking Iceberg and pushed off the building as hard as he could sending them both towards the warehouse.
The sharpshooter was better than he thought. The bullet impacted with a stinging sensation in his back.
"AAK!" He yelped and they both tumbled to a grassy area about a hundred yards from the warehouse.
Blood Wolffe reached behind him and pulled out a tranquilizer dart.
"Ha, tranquilizer! You go on Ice blok, Your mission is important. I will keep their attention."
The beast continued walking towards his mission, as unstoppable as ever. Blood Wolffe got up and was feeling groggy.
"Since when do the cops use tranquilizers?" he asked himself.
"Thats not the cops..."
It was a Crey Industries helicopter. They caught news that he was in the area and dispatched their Project Recovery Team. Blood Wolffe had a past with them they wouldnt soon forget.
The tranquilizer was very strong. He pointed at the helicopter and tried to shoot it but only a small wave of blue energy escaped his hand. So he used what energy he had left to stagger down the street away from the helicopter which was now just waiting for him to collapse.
Blood Wolffe slumped down next to a car, wondering if anyone would save him if they could. He doubted it with his reputation as a renegade murderer.
"You... are either.... a wolf.... or you are... prey!" He said as he gathered all his energy he had left and sent a beam of energy at the helicopter. The shockwave from it burst the windows in the car and set the alarm off. It hit the helicopter causing it to smoke out of the engine but it could still fly. So it began to land a few feet away from him. Some men ran to him and began to pick up the now growling cornered Blood Wolffe, half concsious but still dangerous. But he noticed some men in HAZMAT suits running right by him towards the warehouse the Ice Blok just entered.
"NO!" Blood Wolffe screamed as he lunged on top of one of the men. He was only able to punch him a few times before he got buttstroked by another.
And then everything went black.
Heat Storm watched the two jump off the building. "And I'm suppose to trust him after the damage he did? He had better be doing something important." He said to the world in general. Then he saw the logo on the helicopter, CREY!?! Looks like Icy is going to get a head start after all. Then something hit it and it made an emergency landing. "Oh no you don't." Heat Storm jumped off the building and landed roughly. The men in HAZMAT suits had taken down Wolffe, "HEY!" The two men over him looked up, Heat Storm pointed an index finger at each of them. "This ones for Alice." And from his finger tips lances of pure heat struck both of them from his internal reserve, which was a 100 degrees over normal, noone could realy see it, except for a hazy effect in the air between them. Both operative cluched the burning flesh as it the 300+ Degrees continued to cook it.
He left Wolffe and went after the rest of them, today Crey would pay for what they did to Will and Alice. "Retrubtion is coming!" He yelled as he chased down the remianing operatives. I should have enough heat for this and maybe Icy. He stopped in mid stride and looked a Blood Wolffe, he sighed and slung the uncontious psuedoman over his shoulder and starrted after Icy. He couldn't help him at all, but he was an enemy of Crey and that automaticaly made him an ally, and he was sure he could find someone to help him.
((Wow, lose net-access for a day or so and the thread EXPLODES))
Joe was just getting another drink when the sirens came blaring, both on his tv-screen as well as two blocks down the road. He returned to the set and peered at it.
"Whoa, that's practically the backyard..." he muttered, and then looked out the window.
"And me with my entire gear in the shop..." he sighed whistfully. Once again, he settled down in the comfortable chair to watch the goings on, before eventually throwing his snacks to the floor... "Dammit... I can't just sit here and watch."
Hurriedly, Joe looked to see if he couldn't locate his prototypes while the battle between good and evil raged on.

Captain Neem was in the middle of getting caught up on events by the now rather confused police officers.
"I'll see what I can do to clear things up." He said to them.
Just then he noticed a Crey helicopter going down. "Just what we needed at this party, a morally ambiguous supercorp swooping in to 'save the day'."
Then he noticed the Ice Blok walking through the bashed in door of the werehouse and two of the crey agents now severely burned. "Oh man, what a mess. I don't even know who is on whose side anymore."
Captain Neem shrugged and decided to see what the Ice Blok had to say. If he was fighting Hellions then possibly help out. The cops had said that he had been shot at by them. He flew into the open door and after the giant ice sculpture gone wrong.
((I know what you mean, TechSupport. I had so much to do this weekend that I couldn't post here. Anyway, back to the post.))
Ice Bloc had watched all that went on around him with a stoic passivity. He had even let Blood Wolffe leap away with him. When another hero showed up and began loosing blasts of fire, he became a bit more wary. This passed as he watched the fire consume the gentlemen dressed in odd coveralls. With the ensuing chaos, Ice Bloc reasoned that he may still finish his mission easily. As he stepped back toward the building, the asphault erutped, spraying pebbles and tar everywhere. Ice Bloc looked up and saw that a tube on the front of the flying machine was spewing sparks. Suddenly, he felt as though thousands of hard chunks of hail will raining down on him. This hail was much hotter however.
He didn't know what it was, but he knew it had to stop soon. He wound up like a spring and lept high into the air, cratering the street with the force of his leap. He saw that the pilot was spooked as the flying machine pitched backward. It didn't matter; Ice Bloc wrapped his arms around the nose of the machine and let his tremendous weight haul himself and the machine back to earth. He saw sparks coming off the street as the machine came down with him. In a flash, he saw large blades flying off the top of the machine. When it was no longer moving, he let it go and looked curiously at the blades that were easily longer than he was tall. He turned back toward the building and began walking.
This side of the building had a small door. He wrapped his massive fist around it and pulled it and the frame out of the wall. He looked to see flashing lights as some black and white colored cars were coming around to this side of the building finally. He simply ducked and stepped into the building. He saw that the Hellions were engaged in a heavy gun battle with the police. He was content to let them have at each other. He followed the tingle in his "mind", knowing that he was close to recovering the amulet.
He rounded a row of containers in the warehouse and saw a disturbing sight. A man in a demon mask was laying on the floor; his chest was burned rather badly. Standing over the obviously dead body was a man in green robes with a tall hat and red shoulder spikes and a demon with large bat like wings ((i.e. a Ruin Mage and a Behemoth Overlord, don't worry it's not "him" )). The man grinned at Ice Bloc and dangled a pendant on a leather cord. "Looking for this?" he hissed.
Ice Bloc charged forward, but was met with a gout of flame that shot forth from the Demon. He was about to try again, but he found the ground falling away from his feet. He tried to regain his footing, but the earth beneath him rose up again. It was as if the ground had become the surface of a rolling sea. He could only look on helplessly as the Demon grabbed the man and took flight through a hole in the roof. Eventually, the rocking stopped and Ice Bloc stood up. From behind him, he heard guns being drawn. "FREEZE!" came the command from behind him.
((Sorry Captain Neem, was writing mine while you were posting.))
Captain Neem looked around at the chaos from the Ice Blok as he mauled the helicopter and followed him into the werehouse. The Ice Blok ignored all of his attempts at communication. He saw the police trying to arrest the hellions in the werehouse and helped out with a blast in the direction of any hellions he passed. He couldn't take them all out and keep up with the walking monolith but he could knock out quite a few.
He stepped out of the way just in time as a gout of flame hit the Ice Blok square on. He turned around to see a Behemoth Overlord and Ruin Mage standing there. He immediately took to the air just in time to avoid the ensuing earthquake.
The mage taunted the ice being with some sort of amulet. Apparently that was his objective.
The police arrived just as the mage was escaping with the demon and the amulet. Captain Neem knew if the Circle wanted that amulet then he definitely did not want them to have it. He flew up after them and fired off energy blasts at the demon's wings hoping to ground them but in order to keep up, he had a hard time aiming.
Heat Storm was almost to the warehouse, even with the dead weight of Blood Wolffe over his shoulder. Two more Crey agents in HAZMAT suits were dead ahead. Judging from thier guns they were both Chief Plasma Scientists. With one hand preoccupided with holding Wolfee he had to take them on one at a time. He took the first by surprise with a lance of heat focused through his index finger, it hit him right in the shoulder blade. He collapsed on the ground in agony, the second turned on and target Heat Strom. He just got out of the way of the spray of super heated energy, barely, it burned his skin and he absorbed some of it into his internal reserve. He point at him and heat burned right through the mans face, he might not did, but he would have a nasty burn.
He keeped running and got to the warehouse that Icy had entered. He got there just in time to see a demon fly out of it. "The Rapture had better not come." he muttered as he got out into the street, something like this took prority. After dodging a car he put Wolffe down and put his hands to gether with his index and middle fingers extended. He took careful aim at the moving target, one turn and his shot would be miss horribly, he fired out of all four fingers a bolt of heat at around 500 degrees, even with immunity to fire that beast was in for it.
(OOC Note: I'll let someone else decide if it hits, also Heat Storm uses heat, not fire, there is no real visual effect other than a wavy effect. Just a note PUCheesehead.)
Permafreeze sprinted through the carnage, paying no heed to the charred remains that were the Crey agents. As she passed the one remaining man, attempting to crawl away without the use of his left arm, she quickly focused that freezing pain she always felt, letting it fly out of what used to be her hands. After finishing off this scientist, she turned, just in time to see something.... huge explode in the middle of the air. The shockwave knocked her back and left her dazed.
"Crap, must have been some blast" she muttered to herself.
She was now sauntering, searching for any survivors left. she glanced up and saw the only man left standing, carrying a large man-wolf over his shoulder.
"Is that what it was?" She thought. "How can I ever become that powerful?"
As she glanced down at her mechanized hands, she felt his eyes on her. Quickly looking back up, she dropped her arms to her side, striking what she hoped was a heroic pose.
"Good work, though I personally wouldn't have made such a mess. Haha!" She spoke with false bravado. "I'm Permafreeze. I saw the ice trail, and thought I could be of help."
Blood Wolffe woke up to the newly cold air eminating from Permafreeze with a start. He looked around and saw the two looking at each other. He cocked his head for a moment looking at Permafreeze. Sniffing the air he could smell some insecurity. He would never say that in front of other heroes but he let her know he knew with his facial expression.
"What happened?"
They explained to him that a Behemoth Overlord had taken the amulet and Heat Storm shot it.
It was still flying away though at an incredible speed.
Blood Wolffe's predatory instincts kicked in at the sight of what he considered prey running away.
He lept into the air and was racing down the beast.
It didnt take long to catch up to him and as soon as Blood Wolffe felt he was in range he let loose with beams of energy. One blast hit the Overlord in the side and threw off it's balance. The fight was now on the street.
The Overlord threw a stream of fire at Blood Wolffe. He dodged most of it but he felt the flames flow over part of his arm and shoulder. Blood Wolffe returned the favor by sending a powerful burst of energy at the creatures chest. It took a step back to brace itself. It took the damage well, it was strong. This one was going to be extremely difficult to take down. What just sent a police car tumbling threw the air for 25 yards the beast just took smiling.
The Behemoth ran up to him and hit him with a fire sword it created from thin air. It hurt bad, he needed help fast. Blood Wolffe threw a wave of energy at his legs to knock him down. He couldnt hold the Overlord off much longer.
"I must look like an idiot..." Tech muttered to himself, creeping along the streets and heading towards the general combat scene.
He had taken an old shirt, and wrapped it around his head with the neck-opening in front of his eyes, thus making sure he wouldn't be reckognised. An old army-dump flack-jacket has a rather bulky power-supply strapped to the back like a backpack, and thick wiring runs along his arms into the almost oversized gloves. "Ohwell, good thing I never started listening to my mom about throwing old stuff out."
Of course, once he managed to get to the scene, he just stands there a moment or two watching Blood Wolffe tousle with a Behemoth.
"Oh, this day is just getting better and better." he comments, if sarcasm was a weapon, he'd have outmatched any broadsword wielding hero by now.

Heat Storm looked over Permafreeze and then Wolffe got up and took off after the winged demon. Normaly he would go after it, but he had been charged with stopping Icy. Besides he couldn't keep up with Wolffe. He ran towards the twisted in frame that had once be a door and looked inside and saw the cops surronding Icy. "Looks like my job is done." He said very satisfied that he hadn't had to do too much work.
((This is a nutty idea I got when I was thinking of an origin story for one of my characters. I was just curious what sort of reactions I would get from other heroes if I could really act like this him. Hence, I figured I should post it here.))
The interns in the MAGI office of City Hall ran around, trying to collect papers that were being blown around. They knew that this would happene, but the strength of the winds coming out of the portal were far stronger than they anticipated. Azuria stood there before the portal unaffected; the circle at her feet glowed and blasts of snow wrapped around it. The intense cold from the portal was starting to cause frost on the cases scattered about the room. One of the interns finally shouted, "Are we sure this is a good idea?!" He was shielding himself from the combo of bright light and bitter cold that blasted from the open portal. Azuria called over her shoulder, "All of our magicians are busy and we are on an abbreviated timetable! We need someone or something that can take care of this!"
She closed her eyes and started forming the Latin words that formed the calling spell. The assistants' eyes widened as a massive column of ice stretched out of the portal, then another. Then, like a giant stepping through a door, a head ducked through, followed by shoulders and arms then a torso. Of course, these descriptions only describe the overall look and possible function of the pieces of the vaguely humanoid shape now standing in the room. A more appropriate dexcription would be chunks of ice that have frozen together to form this shape. The "joints" of the body spiked jaggedly and the body's "legs" expanded in diameter until they met the floor.
Two deep blue pits scanned the room as the "head" swivelled. Azuria stared at the creature before her, amazed at its size. She knew it would be a large entity, but she wasn't prepared for the sheer scale of what she summoned. She snapped out of it and dismissed the portal. The protecting circles disappeared with it. The creature looked down at her with stoic silence. She cleared her throat and tried to sound as commanding as possible. "Creature, I require your services."
"Name your task," rumbled the icy creature. The voice sounded like a combination of icy wind and cracking frost.
"There has been a theft of a magical item. You must retrieve it," Azuria responded.
"Where does it reside now?" came a quick answer.
Azuria looked in the file regarding the theft of an amulet being brought to MAGI for safekeeping. Her sources and her magic had told her that a group of Hellions had stolen it in hopes they could sell it to the Circle of Thorns for some fast cash. Azuria knew that it had to be retrieved before the sale happened; otherwise, it would be much more difficult to get back. "It is being kept in a warehouse about three quarters of a mile due East of here."
The creature looked down at her. Silence lingered in the room. Eventually, Azuria spoke. "Are you familiar with these terms?"
"No. They are not known to me."
Azuria's assitant stepped forward and whispered in her ear. Azuria nodded and began chanting. Slowly, the creature could see the amulet. It floated before him, out of reach. Suddenly, the image disappeared and he could sense the direction and distance to the amulet. "I have given you an attachment to the amulet. You will know where it is and how close you are to it. When you have recovered it from those who possess it, bring it back to me. Now go!"
With that, the creature turned and faced due east. He began to walk a steady pace that direction. Unfortunately, this meant he walked right into the ELITE office. He didn't notice the desk he crushed as he walked. Azuria came running after him, apologizing profusely to those her "new hero" had inconvenianced. She dragged him upstairs and showed him how to use the front door to City Hall. Once he was outside, however, the creature resumed his path. He faced the direction in which he could sense the amulet and began walking. This time he caused no big problem; no one really got in his way and the citizens calmly walked around him. This all changed when he stepped out onto the street without looking.
The driver was either too busy talking on his cell phone or simply didn't have enough time to stop; either way, he crashed right into the side of this walking ice man. The front end was heavily impacted; the creature simply kept walking. Citizens watching this were shocked. Many had assumed he was just another hero, but such disregard for a citizen couldn't be a hallmark of a hero, could it? Cell phones and police radios came alive and news of this odd "hero" began to spread. The walking Ice Bloc, as he had been called on the news, had reached Argosy Industrial Park when the news helicopters started to circle.
It was clear to see where the beast had walked; there were trampled fences and flattened trash cans stretching all the way back to City Hall. Still, he walked. No one knew what to do. Could it be another of the Winter Lord's creations? Was this the real Winter Lord? And what were the heroes doing about this thing?
((I've always loved "stranger in a strange land" stories. I'd like to where this story idea goes so.... TAG!))
