  1. I often see this power recommended for something like stamina. Why is that?

Is one of my assumptions incorrect?
1.) Stamina is an auto power so the proc can only trigger ever 10 seconds. "Procs that are in continuous powers cycle or pulse on once every 10 seconds" -paragonwiki.com
2.) Performance Shifter proc has a 20% chance to proc for +10 endurance

Over a significant time period, you would average 2 endurance every proc chance, which is only 2 endurance every 10 seconds, which is only a 0.2 endurance a second increase (again on average).

Wouldn't it be better to just slot in some 50 Endmod IO's. In stamina, those would give a 0.17 end/s increase. Not quite 0.2, but is markedly cheaper.
  2. If I sniper someone, wait for hide and then teleport foe them to me, does the teleport foe break the hidden status?
  3. nm.. on the wiki it specifically says it doesn't grant hidden status. fail read.
  4. Just wondering does "Beguile" power (Ranged Placate) from the Socialite Day Job power trigger free crits?
Or is it under the rules of a power like smoke flash?
  5. My main is a sonic/MM blaster and I must say that it is very awesome.
From sonics, I took everything but shockwave as the dmg was weak, only had kb, and didn't add a -res. However, in my earlier lvls, I had it and was pleased with its results, I respec'ed out of it once I had siren's song.
From MM, I took everything but the 2 melee attacks and scare. I'm thinking of re-spec'ing out of World Of Confusion as I'm a bit disappointed with it, mainly because it has minor dmg which wakes up any targets i have slept =/. I'm holding out til I can aquire a Contagious Confusion proc to make a final judgement as I hear it gets much better with it.

Sonic/MM is pretty awesome as it has a solid single target chain which really starts to stack those -res; Some control through Siren's song and the lvl 26 Sonic Stun attack (the name escapes me atm) which has an huge duration; as well as 2 solid cone attacks, and 2 pbaoe attacks. Siren's Song + Drain Psyche practically replaced stamina for me (until I hit lvl 45 and started running shields and WoC and Hover in combat)

I took force mastery for concept reasons, but I think if I was more interested in dmg and effectiveness, I would have taken Elec, since it adds another cone attack and elec hurts robots more which tend to resist psi.

On the whole, I think if you go sonic/mm you wont be disappointed at all.
  6. Just checked out that they added Repulsion Bomb to Force Mastery for Blasters. My Sonic/Mental blaster just hit lvl 49 last night with exactly 1 undecided power.
Is Repulsion Bomb worthy of my last slot? Is it mainly used as a dmg power or a kb/kd power?
If not Repulsion Bomb, anyone have good suggestions for my 1 power slot?
I could either take Mind Probe or scare, or from the pools, I have Hover/Fly, Swift/Health/Stamina, Hasten, so that leaves me w/ leadership, medicine, or ionno, concealment, maybe recall friend.
What to do, what to do
  7. For my first defender, I'm planning out a storm/dark defender and I was looking at the leadership pool, which I noticed gives the most benefit for defenders. How bad should I feel for not taking these? Should I be a team player and get these toggles?
  8. Very informative. However, at what cost does the defense come? Are you sacrificing your own dps to achieve survivability? For tanks and scrappers, I'm sure it is useful to hit soft cap, but as a defender/controller/blaster, there are other forms of damage mitigation which can just as effectively be used to survive.
Sleep a whole spawn and you don't have to defend as much.
Mez/Debuff a boss, and his dps will drop.
Team with a (good) aggro holder and your soft capped defense will be redundant/unnecessary.

While I think that defense is important, it is more important to consider the tradeoff. The original post did a lot to show the effectiveness of the last 5%. For some archetypes, it makes me think that if you can't reach soft cap, don't go out of your way to increase your defense because the gain will be so marginal.
  9. I'm thinking of rolling a stalker soon (still in the planning stages of an Elec/Ninjitsu), and checking out whatever guides there are.
Most guides don't seem to include stamina. Is this unique to those guides or do stalkers just not need stamina very much?
  10. One point for the devs..
I think some of the longer stretches were due to the dev team ramping up w/ all the newer hires.
    One point against the devs
I13 and I15 were really small. really small.

I would say try it out and see. What have you got to lose?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Um...sounds like shes got stamina to lose.

I would never build a blaster without stamina. You may say you have never run out of end with unslotted stamina at 43, but then I may say you must be doing it wrong.

Concepts are cool, but damn do they wreck a build.

    [/ QUOTE ]

More often than not, I'm always topped off on endurance. When I solo, I'm only using my single target attacks (shriek, scream, shot, subdual, screech) which seem to never run me out of endurance. When I team, sure I'm spamming my more endurance heavy AoE's, but the larger mobs let me more effectively use Drain Psyche so I rarely have end probs, especially not when teamed. I dont have a super expensive IO build, so I don't really know what else I should be doing to get more use out of stamina.
I suppose I could pick up the leadership pools but blasters don't really get as much out of them as other classes. Maybe I could take up medicine, but stopping to heal seems to slow me down more than anything. I would rather just keep killing stuff and getting more inspirations to heal/recharge end.

In any case, sounds like the presence pool is a poor choice for anything but concept, but meh.. if there isn't anything else, I suppose it's a sacrifice I might make.
  12. For thematic reasons, I'm debating if I should get "Invoke Panic" on my sonic/mental blaster. The premise is my character is a "Mean Girl" (hence sonic (girl talk) and mental (girl manipulation))

Does anyone have any experience with this?
How bad of an idea is this?
How much will I be suffering to do this? (I would probably respec out of swift/health/stamina. I'm lvl 43 and always seem to have a full end bar w/ unslotted stamina, so I feel like this power isn't that vital.)
  13. I've been looking at mids and it seems like I definitely won't have enough power slots to take all the powers I want (every power in both shield and ice sound useful).
As a PvE tanker, is it good to get things like single target holds (freezing touch) or just leave that to the rest of the team?
Why is Freezing Aura good if it sleeps the opponents (I thought teams don't really care much for sleep)?
Is power pool version of taunt worth it? Is acrobatics?
  14. I've decided to roll my first tanker (mostly play blasters/corruptors/dominators/defenders). I didn't know what powersets are the best or anything like that so I went with Shield Ice for thematic reasons. I think I'll be okay with it since Shield is supposedly very offensive for a defensive set and Ice melee is pretty defensive (soft controls).
    2 questions...

Anyone have suggestions on power pools to take? Will I need stamina? Should I get hasten? Are the fighting pools worth it?

Anyone have suggestions on powers to avoid for Shield/Ice?

    Chat bug

    wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwdqeqww
Supperrrr annoyed at the chat bug.
Rather than sit and whinge about it, I want to see if we as a collective mind can make some progress towards fixing this.
Anyone able to consistently reproduce the chat bug?
  16. I'm pretty sure its WAI.
Critters are not all designed for all level ranges. The auto-exempting comes with a warning about scaling down after all. I think that it only scales down when it has to, but if it doesn't have to (i.e. something valid can spawn) it will spawn that instead of trying to hack something in.
  17. I'm currently playing a Sonic/MM so I'm only going to comment on the MM stuff.. I'm not a big fan of World of Confusion. the sphere is too small to work very well as a defensive toggle since the power ticks so slowly. And in my experience, Drain Psyche usually needs some accuracy bonus if you are going to be using it the way I think you are. Ionno, I'm pretty new and mostly solo so take my advice w/ a grain of salt.
