NRG/MM and Sonic/MM help.
My main is a sonic/MM blaster and I must say that it is very awesome.
From sonics, I took everything but shockwave as the dmg was weak, only had kb, and didn't add a -res. However, in my earlier lvls, I had it and was pleased with its results, I respec'ed out of it once I had siren's song.
From MM, I took everything but the 2 melee attacks and scare. I'm thinking of re-spec'ing out of World Of Confusion as I'm a bit disappointed with it, mainly because it has minor dmg which wakes up any targets i have slept =/. I'm holding out til I can aquire a Contagious Confusion proc to make a final judgement as I hear it gets much better with it.
Sonic/MM is pretty awesome as it has a solid single target chain which really starts to stack those -res; Some control through Siren's song and the lvl 26 Sonic Stun attack (the name escapes me atm) which has an huge duration; as well as 2 solid cone attacks, and 2 pbaoe attacks. Siren's Song + Drain Psyche practically replaced stamina for me (until I hit lvl 45 and started running shields and WoC and Hover in combat)
I took force mastery for concept reasons, but I think if I was more interested in dmg and effectiveness, I would have taken Elec, since it adds another cone attack and elec hurts robots more which tend to resist psi.
On the whole, I think if you go sonic/mm you wont be disappointed at all.
I can make you a build if you'd like. I know a couple people tha are actually playing the pairs you'd like to make.

Here is a quick build I threw together for you to get an idea. The build is not that expensiive for the core parts, the only pricey IOs are the two Luck of the Gambler +7.5%, Numina and Miracle uniques and the Contagious Confusion set which to be honest is cheap compared to the other purple sets.
The build has 30.6% ranged defense and I figured that would be more than adequate since the attacks in your primary and secondary are most all ranged. Your recharge with Hasten is 128.8% which is good since your powers don't have long recharges anyways and the onyl power that really needs the recharge is Drain Psyche which you only have 10 seconds downtime when Hasten isn't running. I slotted Telekinetic Thrust with the +Rech proc since it recharages fast and you can take advantage of the 10 check for +100% recharage.
Anyways this should get your started for the most part.

Okay, so with customizations and whatnot being awesome, I was messing around the test server and decided on the concept of wavy/concentric heat/plasma/energy stuffs ala Havok.
I think the best fitting sets would be NRG/MM or Sonic/MM. I went back 29 pages and saw nary a mention of NRG/MM. I imagine it's because as a primary it's so average... but I'd really appreciate if someone took a sample crack at that build incorporating Super Speed. I'm coming up on my 4th month for CoH, and still can't make a build to save my life. Bonus cookies to someone to provide me with a sample Sonic/MM, too. Or any advice... Thanks in advance. |
Check on the guide/build/link in my sig, it should help you a lot to configure out your sonic/mm blaster. The energy/mm would be very similar, only less tricks and most direct attacks/knockbacks.
