  1. My searchfoo is not strong tonight. Looking for the ranged and melee dmg modifiers for veats. Anyone?

Really? I expected Benumb and Acrobatics to lessen those hold's quite a bit. Would you think ill/ or /ta would be better equiped to take them on Mage?

Since I Siren's alot, that would mean i'd have to make a defender to have it available for that zone i guess.

What does Ill/ lack for zones? I thought Superior invisi would help some in that dept. So ice/ would be better for zone ?
  5. Still tossing around build ideas for Sirens. Originally wanted something to combat the doms in Sirens. I've narrowed my choices to:

    Ice/cold
    Ice/ta
    Ice/thermal

    Ill/cold
    Ill/ta
    Ill/Thermal

I guess Ice/ would have arctic air and all the -recharges and slows. Ill/ would have Superior Invisi going for it, but not sure if that matters since i could just go steath and stealth io, and would have to dip into concealment anyway to get phase.

Any new advice? I did talk to a nice guy in Sirens last night that was on an Ill/ta that seemed to do well. I havent seen any /Thermal controllers though lately, or /cold.

Will continue my search! Thanks to all that respond. Probably going to roll this toon before Wednesday before I head outta town.
  6. Since TA appears to be a good disruption set, would it be crazy to just make a TA/Sonic defender instead for zone? I figure at least you would be able to do some nice ranged dmg. Maybe even TA/Ice? But I'm hearing Ice isnt so hot for pvp anymore.

I do have a cold/ice defender on guardian, but havent played him since like before I14, so not sure how he would do.

Lol, why so much hate on earth/ta?
  8. Well, Im still rolling these ideas around.

So far im choosing from the following

    ice/rad
    ice/cold
    ice/thermal

    earth/rad
    earth/cold
    earth/thermal

    mind/thermal
    mind/cold

Since I tend to solo alot in Sirens and RV, Im leaning away from Ill/ since i'm told by you guys that its fairly low in dmg (at least when paired with /TA?)

Anyone have any experience with any of the combos ive listed?
  9. Was just looking at the builder. Noticed Ice/ had arctic air which does -stealth. Is that viable for zone use to unhide stalkers?
  10. Ah, you know, never looked at it that way.

So, what do you think between earth/rad or earth/cold for zone? Which one would you 'lean' towards?
  11. I can see Ice/Rad, and maybe Ice/cold, but never thought about earth, cold. What makes it decent for zone Mac?
  12. I agree on Ill/Ta. I should of added that I mostly pvp in Siren's.
  13. Maybe not very sturdy for zone pvp, but what would be a good combo for a zone controller?

Ice/rad? Ill/TA? I'm looking for something that might get a kill once in a while, which i'm sure will be hard since most will just superspeed or ps once you put toggles on them.

    Thanks.
  14. Thanks to all of you for responding. I went spines/regen and just got up to lvl 10 (slow but steady). I have some cash flow saved up, so ill set it out and get tactics (and perception io), hopefully by SC level.

So far, so good. I must so, being able to change the looks of both spines and regen makes it so much more enjoyable to play
  15. Someone in zone last night that Regen may be more survivable but Willpower is Survivable enough to get in, get the kill and get out. Seems like Regen would be easier to go staminaless since it has 1 toggle.

Anyone have experience with both sets care to chime in? Still curious which is better for zone pvp in sirens and rv.
  16. I've been reading the forums the last couple days about what kinda stalker to make for zone pvp.

Im hearing a mixed back between /regen and /wp. Some say that /regen is the best for zone because its so survivable, and would just need a perception io, etc. Other's say /wp is the best for zone because it has +percep built in, easier to hp cap, and repel resist.

Regen seems like it would be stronger if you just slot decent sets in it and got the perception io. WP seems like a jack of all trades kinda thing.

So what do you guys think? I'll be pvp'in in Siren's mostly, so please keep that in mind. I'm up for all ideas.

    Thanks!

/dev playstyle is more "over time" than /EM. It's not so much about spikes, more about wearing your target down, while they're semi-helpless from being webbed. And here sonic shines. Not only are you doing more damage with each attack due to defiance, you're doing A LOT more, due to the -res on top of it.

Can't go wrong with psy obviously though.
Well I guess how does Psychic/ hold up if/when the broken proc gets fixed? Does sonic/ come out on top then?

I have a sonic blaster and personally i find it very boring, it's slow and lacks that nice fluent chain that psy blast has. Imo.
Thanks for the input. On that note, im going to go Psychi/Dev. Time to find a slot somewhere to make this Thanks again.
  19. Did some pvp today in Sirens on my Fire/Regen Scrap and noticed a few devices blasters that seem to do decently.

So, I'm going to roll yet another pvp toon to keep me busy till GR.

Psychic/Devices or Sonic/devices? I havent done devices in forever, but seems like it would be fun in Siren's Call. Does they -res in Sonic make it more worthy then Psychic and its ability to slot the Placate Proc?

Anyway im up for whatever suggestions you have. Let me know what you guys think between those two, and thanks in advance!
  20. Speaking of farming builds, which do you guys think would be faster at a typical BM or Council map:

    Plant/Kin Controller
    Elec/Shield Scrapper

I have an Elec/Shield, but I've always been curious if the plant/kin would be faster.

    Thanks!
  21. Blah, thanks Mac. I totally forgot about Taunt. Ill take a look at your build. Mine is currently with just standard Io's so I'm gonna start building it tomorrow. Fiance has been having tons of computer problems tonight so ive been a scatter brain working on that too.

    Thanks again for the input.
  22. Another one of my pvp toons, could you guys give me any do's and dont's on my build below please?

I didnt take Tough, is that a mistake? I wanted to fit in 2 travel powers, and acrobatics. I think my KB is around 41. Is that a decent # to be at?
I wasnt going to take Foot Stomp (only 4 slots, could frakenslot it), but I figure if there is a MM in zone it would come in useful. I could maybe slot it for KB to Knock them around, but that could be counter-productive to using burn on theme. In its place i could just take consume.

Anyway thanks again for the input, much appreciated.

  25. Any gurus out there care to give me some advice.

My fiance is asking for my Christmas List by tonight (yea, her family does this way too early for me), and I always put a new video card on my list.

Currently I have a ATI Radeon HD 3870 612 Pcie card. It does fine with what I play.

Well I see that Going Rogue is going to take advantage of newer cards.

Im looking at either the ATI Radeon HD 5770 1gb ddr5 card right now on tigerdirect, and the Geforce GTX 260 896MB GDDR3. The ATI card is 128bit interface and the Geforce is 448bit. But the ATI does directx 11 and the other does 10.1 I believe.

I know that Cox runs on open gl. Will there be a switch to Directx fully for Going Rogue or will it stay open gl and just operate at a more recent version of it.

In the end, I just want to know which of those cards will probably run this game in Ultra Mode the best. I have a AMD BE 3.0 dual core cpu now, with 8 gig of ram. Nothing fancy.

Thanks all for your help. And would love a dev to chime in, which we know wont happen I'd like to pick the right card so I dont have to upgrade again till Christmas next year
