21 out of 30 here. Maybe he should change his name to Bardman? Batspeare?

So, my wife started watching GoT and pressured me into watching it. I got caught up through episode 4 on Staurday and saw 5 last night.
I really like the show so far. The characters are well done, the writing and acting are top notch, and the production design is excellent. The sets alone should win someone an Emmy, they're just gorgeous.
Tyrion is by far my favorite character. The actor playing Tyrion - Peter Dinklage - is just amazing, as I've seen mentioned several times already in this thread. From seeing Dinklage as Dr. Simon Barsinister in the live-action Underdog movie (I've seen it far too many times; my son loves it :/), I never would have pegged him as such a good actor. I'm very pleasantly surprised and always look forward to more scenes with him.
Now I need to get the books. -
I gotta agree, that was one of the coolest scenes in the movie. I really wanted to see more Iceman action, such as surfing on a ribbon of ice he's shooting from his hands.
I agree with this 100,000,000% (+ - 99,999,900%). -
Quote:Or...maybe they were following (loosely) the origin story in the comics, and Thor also needs to have some connection to Earth for that little Avengers thing.Yeah I could have just watched an entire film of Thor beating up frost giants or them showing Odin and his posse take them down rather than an abridged version. I get they wanted include some earth time to make the story have some grounding points for the general public though.

Agent Coulson didn't call him Hawkeye, but said (paraphrasing): "Barton, get out there." Hawkeye's "real" name is Clint Barton, and he passes by all the other weapons to choose a bow, so....

I liked the movie. I thought Hemsworth made a great Thor, and the cuts back and forth between Midgard and Asgard were handled fairly well. It would have been very easy for the movie to become muddled in trying to portray the story in 2 vastly separate locations, but it managed pretty well IMHO.
My wife, who is not a comic book fan and has never read an issue of Thor in her life, also thought it was good. I asked her if she had any trouble following the story, and she said no, it was all perfectly clear to her. Heh, for a change SHE is the one who wants to go see it again on the big screen. -

Obviously, Batman didn't have time to plan.

Wow, it's like they go out of their way to make sure that people with jobs can't attend these events. Oh well, I'll just add this to the list of events I haven't been able to participate in due to poor timing.

I'm guessing that someone at Sony got one of those viruses that pops up the "Oh Noes!! You've got a virus!" warnings and prompts you to buy their "anti-virus" software (which is actually another virus/trojan) to get rid of the virus. Sony bought the "anti-virus" software, and that is the extent of their protection.

Scienticians at Tokyo's Kajimoto Laboratory have created the "Kiss Transmission Device". Basically, one person uses their tongue to twirl a tube attached to a box. That box transmits the "kiss" to a computer, across the interwebtubes, where another box twirls its tube in the same direction, speed, etc.

Quote:Gah, that would be as bad as the dancing/piano-playing Peter Parker from Spider-Man 3. Maybe even worse.Hmm, tend to agree with Durakken
Unless they are playing it for the social ineptitude, you know, he's trying to fit in and can't, he's not very balanced, tries to skateboard to show how he's actually pretty "cool" falls off the board and gets laughed at.
Until he gets his powers and does it again, this time like a long lost cousin of Tony Hawks
That could work. So far we've only seen an image, depends on the concept I guess. -
Looking better with each new trailer. I definitely be seeing this.

Quote:Oooohhhh...I would have bought that and MADE space for it. I'd put it on the ceiling if I had to.I almost bought this poster at Emerald City Comic Con... until my wife pointed out that I had nowhere to display it.

Steelclaw, I just had an idea. Instead of restarting your teams when there's a major change to the game, could you just develop a conversion algorithm to give a weighted comparison between teams that started with different game mechanics in place? It would probably have to include things like the level of the character when a certain mechanic was put in place, amount of time spent playing the character both before and after the game change, and other factors as well.
This way, you don't have to delete characters, and it should be quite complex. Win/Win! -
Quote:That's cool and all, but please, only sell retractable claws (ala Wolverine) in a package deal with Regeneration.EDIT: (hehe, suddenly feel like a super powers salesman!)
However, did I mention that we're having a sale on the Whirlwind power today? Sure, it may not be as powerful as some of the others, but you'll stand out amongst the crowd!

Quote:Coming from someone who obviously didn't read the "article" I linked.Says someone that has obviously not read Superman books v.v
Superman would always choose flight probably just from the way he love it so much.
But if I had to choose... time-space manipulation powers or high powered ESP powers.
In the "article" Superman talks about how cool it would be to be invisible...while he's using all his other powers. It's a joke. -
Wow, did nobody read my earlier post in this thread? The hashes don't have to be reversible to get the passwords. All they have to be is hashes of weak passwords (which is what most people use) and then be compared to a Rainbow Table.
-
Quote:*facepalm*Let me answer you with an anecdote: a particular podcast was reviewing Twilight Guardian, and they really dug it. But while talking about it, these two things were said: "We're all the way through the first issue, and she still hasn't had her first fight," and "we're not sure what her powers are yet."
-
So, I'm sure most or all of us geeks here have had this conversation at some point. If you could have one super power, what would you choose?
Well, Superman knows what power he'd choose.

I think it looks great. There was a lot of additional footage in this trailer, and I liked all of it.
As for the flippant attitude evidenced in this and other trailers ("I pledge allegiance" and "I know, right?!?"), the feeling I get is they are going for a Han Solo-like arc...the nonchalant, braggart rogue who grows into maturity and responsibility in the face of great adversity.
I have good feeling about this. I hope I don't have to eat my words. -
Quote:Rainbow TablesUnless Sony is a complete bunch of morons, it is unlikely that they actually got passwords. Nobody who sets up security systems with a lick of sense actually stores passwords. Instead you store the passwords in your database as a hash.
From the article:
Quote:...most hashes are designed to be computed quickly. This allows someone who gains access to the stored hash values to rapidly check long lists of possible passwords for validity. One defense against such attacks is to use longer passwords, increasing greatly the number of possible passwords an attacker must check to find the correct one. For simple hash schemes...an attacker can precompute the hash values for all common or short passwords and save them in a large table. Once a hash value is obtained it can then be quickly looked up in the table to find the matching password. However as the size of passwords grows, such tables can become too big to store. An alternative is to store the starting points for long chains of hashed passwords. This requires more computation to look up a purloined password hash, but saves greatly on space.
