Quote:He sure kept THIS opponent off balance....A lot of people like to dump on Ant Man but I think he has a unique power set. Keeps things fresh. I'm glad to see that he will be part of the regular line. I know that we will get to see Giant Man aswell but I'm really hoping for Yellowjacket. Love his fights when he uses a combination of shrinking and growing to keep opponents off balance.
Hank Pym: Wife Beater -
Winter runs from Dec. 21 to Mar. 20, so basically Q1 2011 is what they should have said.

I hear that being promiscuous - in slang, "easy" - can garner one a lot of respect. Give it a try!

Ummm...Winter 2011 starts on December 21, 2010.

I'm guessing that it's PG-13.

Quote:I agree, there are good and bad sequels and there are good and bad original titles. The article fails to establish that sequels are anything more detrimental than personally annoying to them. Some sequels are good, some are bad. Some original titles are good, some are bad. The OP fails to make a case that a bad product can be linked to sequels. The shovelware on the Wii is all "original".
I don't see a real case here.
I'm not really trying to "make a case" or convince anyone of anything. I just saw an interesting article that I thought could spark a further interesting discussion here. I'm honestly just interested in seeing some other gamers' take on this. -
OK, so maybe Madden was a less than optimal example. I don't play the game myself, but I've seen complaints in the past that often the game's sequels are just changing the rosters, with no new mechanics, etc., and that roster updates should be a download rather than a full-priced new release.
Quote:Actually, I think it makes the point. A sequel is one of their biggest sellers. So they put their time and money into a sequel, rather than a new offering which might not sell as well.Madden is one of EA sports biggest sellers...so to even put madden in the category of "sequels" ruining gaming is wrong from the start...which invalidates your point to begin with.
Again, whose fault is that, gamers for not supporting new titles as much, or game developers for pumping out sequels? Maybe "fault" is too strong a word, but I hope you get my meaning. It's kind of a chicken-and-egg question. As the article stated, we see the same thing in movies and music...sequels do well while new oferings tend not to sell as much. Is this just a further sign of the maturing of the video game industry and its clientele, i.e. gamers? Is this really anything new, or is it as old as human nature and being comfortable with the familiar? -
Yeah, it looks pretty nice. I'll definitely pick this one up.

Found this article on CNN, I apologize if it's already been posted. I looked but didn't see it here.
http://www.cnn.com/2010/TECH/gaming.....html?hpt=Sbin
The article makes some interesting points. We've all, or most all, been burned by a video game sequel in the past. We await the update of a beloved game, then it comes out and we find we've paid $50+ for a lame rehash with some marginally better graphics and gameplay, or often worse graphics and gameplay. We've been suckered by the title.
On the other hand, game developers have been burned in the past too. They've spent huge sums developing a truly new game only to have it flop while Madden NFL MCMXXXLVIII sells out, when it offers nothing new other than a player roster update.
So what do you folks think? Are there too many video game sequels today? Is it partly our (gamers' in general) fault for being risk-averse in trying new titles, which makes game developers risk-averse in developing new games? -

"Cinderella story. Outta nowhere. A former greenskeeper, now, about to become the Masters champion. It looks like a mirac... It's in the hole! It's in the hole! It's in the hole!"
Happy Birthday Bill! -

As for completed series:
"Y: The Last Man" - available in 10 TPBs. The story is that everything male (animals included) on the planet dies at the same time...except for one man. It's a great story and the art is pretty good IMHO.
"Preacher" - also available in 10 TPBs. The story is...well...browse through the first TPB at your comic shop. It's kind of hard to describe. But it is totally awesome.
I highly recommend "Irredeemable", from BOOM! Studios. It's written by Robert Kirkman and it kicks mucho derriere. The basic storyline is that the Superman-level hero - Plutonian - of the book's Earth, snaps one day and levels an entire city, killing 3.5 million people. And that's just where he starts. Oh, and did I mention that Plutonian has no known weakness, such as Kryptonite? The first issue starts out about 1 or 2 months after Plutonian started his rampage, and Plutonian's former teammates are desperately trying to stay alive and find some way to stop him.
Now, "Irredeemable" is an ongoing series, BUT it's set in its own universe. So there's no retcons or huge back-story to screw up. It's currently on issue 17, and the first 12 issues are currently in TPB with issues 13-16 due out in TPB soonish. I know you said no ongoing series, but this is soooo good that I had to mention it.
There's also a "companion" series called "Incorruptible", in which one of the world's greatest villains decides he's going to become a good guy. It's currently on issue 9, with the first 4 issues in TPB and the next 4 due out soon. -
I'd actually like to see them leave the Fitness pool in place after making it inherent. That way one could double-up on Swift, Health and/or Stamina, if that's one's desire. Much like a Regen or Willpower character can take the powerset's recovery-boost power and Stamina and pretty much never worry about endo again. I wouldn't double-up on most of my characters, but there are some who I would love to.
This might also solve the possible issue with slots caused by fitness becoming inherent. Double Stamina could allow some Endo Reduction enhancements to be dropped, freeing up slots for other powers. -
My PC case has actual gauges, with needles and scales and all that stuff. They monitor voltage, case temp and fan speed, and are back-lit. When I got it all set up and running, my wife took one look at it and said, "Now THAT looks like a computer."
As to the OPs question...no. -
I have a friend who had an ulcer last year. He was treated with antibiotics, no surgery required. I don't believe his ulcer was bleeding, but what Lothic said is indeed true, many *stomach* ulcers are caused by a bacterial infection, specifically Helicobacter pylori.
From this link: http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/hpylori/
Quote:A bacterium called Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a major cause of peptic ulcers. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as aspirin and ibuprofen, are another common cause. Rarely, cancerous or noncancerous tumors in the stomach, duodenum, or pancreas cause ulcers.
Peptic ulcers are not caused by stress or eating spicy food, but both can make ulcer symptoms worse. Smoking and drinking alcohol also can worsen ulcers and prevent healing.
Regardless of the cause or treatment you may receive, my thoughts and well wishes are with you. -
Leveling is so quick in the game now that I usually don't slot at all until I reach level 22. Then I get level 25 common IOs and keep slotting IOs from then on. I sell all drops.

Holy fogging carp! I've done some free climbing back in the day, but at most 100 feet high or so. Nothing like that. And never dragging a 30 pound dead weight on a rope beneath me.
That's awesome and takes nerves of steel.

As if poorly scripted, needlessly 3D'd crappy movies weren't enough to keep people out of theaters, how about bedbugs?
Now this is in New York, which has been having a major bedbug outbreak in recent years, but still....
"Here's your ticket. Enjoy your movie. Don't let the bedbugs bite!"
*shudder* -
#4 should have won, it was by far the funniest one of them all.
