Quote:Indeed, there was maintenance Monday through Friday from 9AM to 11 AM Eastern, back in the day. It is my perception that as soon as it was possible to reduce that time, the schedule was cut back.Yeah, didn't they used to have a maint window every morning? They didn't always use it, but ISTR the rule used to be something like "0700 to 0900 Eastern, don't make any plans."

I'd like to do that!

I'm curious about the PvPvE. Are you obliged to participate in PvP by the nature of the game? Or can you choose to opt out of the PvP part?

Hmmm, I've got a highish forties Dark/Dark brute ... I can't remember just how high ... I'll go check.
My memory served me well (this time!) ... Pen is forty nine.
What do you mean by high rech, Net? High recharge where, specifically?

So noted, Squiddy! I should be there. I may or may not be able to participate in EoE farming, however. I have regularly scheduled tabletops on both nights.
Looking forward to it!

I've been having this problem today. I finally logged off just before 7:00 PM, Eastern Daylight Time because it was making it very difficult to play. I wouldn't say that it was every twenty seconds but about every thirty seconds to a minute. The loss of connection was momentary, say about three to five seconds. I'd say the problem started somewhere around six thirty and got progressively worse over time, until I logged at about 6:55. I would have logged earlier but I wanted to finish an old mission that I did not care to have to restart.
The server was Champion and I'm outside of Philadelphia, Pa.

Glad to hear you guys finished the jello off. I was out of town yesterday and didn't get back till late.
Hope to get in on the next one. My Crab is high enough to do them now, so if needed I can join a different team.
Yup! I missed you! I'll look forward to seeing you at the next raid, whatever toon you're on!

Quote:Had you read my post you might have understood that I said, "the behavior you described" was petitionable in my opinion. Perhaps you would have an easier time of understanding my point had I written "the behavior AS you described it".What surprising responses. Blame the homosexuals. From the first quote it is just as likely that the friend started the fracas. Since we have no way of knowing for certain what was said by whom, how about trying for a non-biased response such as the one that Doctor_Roswell gave.
Observations regarding specific behavior are one thing; assigning blame is quite another.
Further, it is not within the purview of the players to pass judgment or to sanction other players. That's up to the GMs ... which is why the petition system is in place.
It is entirely possible that the entire incident was a misunderstanding that escalated. I have no problem believing that.
Like Eric Nelson, I take umbrage at Bay Blast for putting words in my mouth and ascribing motives to me that I do not possess.
And ... thanks, Spatch and General Hospital

All right ... I found the thread with the time ... so ... no need for anyone to confirm ... I'll do my best to be at the dock in Monster Island at about 8:30 - 8:40.
Geni -
I'll be there on Geni, my MM. I did lead the team last time, but it was with considerable help from another player, whose toon name I have completely forgotten (to my eternal shame and chagrin). I'll do whatever I can ... and, I'm not shy about asking for help if I think I need it ... and I usually do.
Can we confirm the time, please? I'll be there a little early so that I can at least start team organization.
Geni -
I'll be there as well! I'll do my best to dragoon any vg mates that can to come along ... and any friends, as well. As far as the vg mates go ... well, there's some advantage to being the vg's Den Mom! XD

Oh, snap! I totally forgot about the official French and German servers! I REALLY hate not being perfect! ;D

I started playing this game on Victory server almost five years ago. I played steadily and regularly on Victory for some four to six months. Sometime later, my main server became Champion. Recently, I've started splitting my time between Victory and Champion (blue side and red side, respectively). Not ONCE in the time that I have played on Victory did this EVER come up to me or to anyone that I know.
The creators of this game don't make "unofficial" or even "official" servers for anything but geographic location, to the best of my knowledge. Geographic location refers to servers that are designated as either North America or Europe, and are determined by which "box" or version of the game is bought by the consumer. This is usually determined by where that version was bought ... in other words, in New York City, one version of the game, most likely, was sold tagged as "North American" in their serial codes and your choice of servers were the eleven servers that had been created for the North American market (Freedom, Victory, Justice, Champion, etc) but, if you bought the game in London, the version of the game that you bought, most likely, was marked as "European" and your choice of servers were the four (I believe) European servers.
"Unofficial" servers come about because of a substantial number of players belonging to one particular subset of players congregating on a given server for their own personal reasons. Virtue is the "unofficial" role-playing server. Another server is considered to be the "unofficial" Australian server.
The behavior you described is in no way, shape or form allowed. It is, in my opinion, petitionable under the rules governing griefing and harassment. The problem lies in that this type of activity must be made known to the GMs so that they are aware of it to begin with and only then can action be taken. I would STRONGLY suggest that you encourage your friend to report this incident. Should it ever re-occur, it should be reported again. It should be reported each and every time it occurs.

[QUOTE=Schismatrix;2100961] The biggest risk to a player in doing those missions is boredom due to monotonous enemies, not banning or removal of characters.
AMEN!

You are probably right ... I was slogging my way through the thread in consecutive order and didn't stop to check the date of the last posting. Heh, my, not bad, exactly, but certainly my oversight ... especially since EarthWyrm a page or two past the post to which I responded, supplied precisely the same answer with pertinent information that I had posited.

I realize that I'm a little late to the party, but, in regards to the "alphabet soup" following and underneath the name (David M. Myers), I'm not sure that the reference to so and so SJ/ etc, actually applies to Professor Myers. I'm wondering if that isn't the name/title of a "Chair" which he holds. In other words, the name/title of his position. I could be completely off base and talking through my proverbial hat but it doesn't make a great deal of sense to me that we appear to have two separate personal names referring to one person.

I should be able to make both Friday and Saturday. I'll see everyone then .. and, since I don't pvp ... I don't have to worry about conflicts.

Oh, drat, Meowtch ... that's too bad ... I'll miss you ... but next time!

So ... are we on for this Saturday (second Saturday in July, July 11)? And are we planning on EoE farming on Friday night?
Geni (Geninara) -
There's also Origins. Plenty to see and do, including a Kid's program. I've never been to Dragon Con, but as the biggest of the big three (GenCon, Origins and Dragon Con), I imagine that it offers many possibilities
Geni (Geninara) -
My tabletop schedule will be changing somewhere in the middle of July. Therefore, I should be able to join in the SFs for the second run in July.
Geni (Geninara) -
I'll be there for both events, barring acts of the gods or force majeure. I don't know that I'm qualified to lead the team, per se ... I think Dread is probably a better choice if he's on an MM ... I also thought that Meowtch did a great job on her corr (?) toon. I'd be more than happy to help recruit, though, and start the team off if I'm there early (and I am usually early). I'd be most willing to pass the star to anyone that's more qualified once things get rolling, if that seems appropriate.
As for recruiting ... shall we simply post asking for interested parties in this thread ... or start another one for each team (which may give us more forum "clutter" than we'd like.
