  1. NCSoft Launcher does not request Ring-0 access, so no, it does not involve giving the program unbounded access.

That said, I don't experience your problem. It asked once and then shut up.
  2. None of my friends published stories mostly.

I'm sure the other stories out there are awesome and great, but mostly I use it as a means of story-telling with peers.

I'm looking forward to it myself. As it promises to be more than just a 'throw numbers at it' event like Primal Hami .

But will it still provide Hami-Os?
  4. Hmm, which War Witch showed up to defend is my question .

Short of AE Badges, which I imagine just cheat by doing a check on login.

Wow, that makes me sad. Guessing significantly more dev/red presence for the Freedom event which makes sense .

On Virtue we just had the spawnages going on, no assistance from the iconics.

Still cool though . Would be really neat to see the Iconics crop up [but not overshadow the players] during an iTrial now to think about it.
  7. Looks like we owned the original goal that got scaled back too. Bonus.

Honestly, not a fun experience in terms of gameplay (it was more a slide show) but hey, I got a badge!
Ya, the events are not really to fun to participate in gameplay wise due to the technical issues, they are fun in the social sense only. And frankly, just frustrating most of the time.
  9. One method I've seen is making the incentive buff scale based on how many people were added to the league by the turnstile.

I personally think that the biggest hurdle to the LFG being used is that it doesn't let you do other stuff while in the queue. Global channels pre-empt it rather significantly because of that. And the 'very common' sit in an organizing zone is mostly a perception issue since you are still stuck doing nothing while in the far less structured queue of zone-chat .

Will be interesting to see though if a full-league will be able to enter the queue as Open or not, I can see it potentially not being possible. Of course, that just slides the issue to 23/1 or whatever instead, but I imagine you'll find some more folks willing to move into the queue with less than the maximum.
  10. As a bit of advice for dealing with currency unlock auras and whatnot. Transfer your character to test, and unlock the stuff there, so you can decide if you like that look or not before spending 'real' merits on it on a live server.

It was recorded, and hopefully I got my droid phone pre-buffering it for me now since I forgot about it and have to go sleep.

But my general thinking is 1 a-merit = 2 days = 6 e-merits, once the new trial goes live. Given that more trials are in the works, I suspect they'll devalue e-merits *now* rather worry about the increased rate of e-merit earning increasing the 'acceptable' rate of purchase.

If we assume instead 3 a-merits (100 r-merits & 40 M inf) = 2 days = 6 e-merits, the purchasing power ratio would be 2:1, so I'd still guess 4:1 or worse to allow for additional trials (and daily e-merits) over time.
Just another point to consider that actually runs counter to the desire to keep the time-rate the same for these methods. You should consider what they want to set the relative value for V. Rare incarnate components to be relative to the IOs.

I can certainly see arguments from both perspectives, so will be interesting to see where it lands. Personally, I suspect we're more likely to see the potential rate of generation go up for IOs, but time will tell and there is a beta test coming soon.

That's a mess because of the stigma associated with that practice in general. Can see it in these forums with discussions about potential microtransaction expansions and the like. It really 'changes' the game when it's offered by the studio to a lot of people. And there may be more 'cost' to the product over all than the cost of the third party RMTs.

Very unpleasant mess all around though.

What would be the point of griping about it there? At least here, the devs (well, maybe not anymore) read these threads. My league mates aren't going to be able to do anything about it.
I'd contest that people [edit: I have no clue why I had don't here but, now it's gone] do pointless complaining. After all, I remember the gripes during the Praetorian surge on our server, during the MSR, and other large event incidents. Pointless complaining about the nerf/fix to Interface. I complained pointless in AE groups in the aftermath of the anniversary announcement .

I see people complaining pointlessly fairly often in the game .

Again, it's just a perception thing, same as with the forums, I imagine the vast majority are really just impartial to the system.

Well, when one of the counterpoints is that "they have no other choice but to run trials", *shrug*.

    But, sure, okie-doke.

For me personally, I wouldn't necessarily say tiny, but smaller than the forums make it appear. Since I don't see the same sort of ranting going on during the Incarnate Trials I am on.

It's important to really remember that folks will be unhappy with anything with a MMO. Something interesting that BAB relayed way back was just how high the churn rate was for the game.

One side comment, Marketing doesn't typically intend to do things to sabotage the game. They may fail, and be misguided, yes, but those that fail and are misguided, themselves fail. Just a minor pet peeve at the vilification of marketing .

    Inertia Sucks.

Same reason for combat you want to be using Hover instead of Fly [although I will say Fly has gotten a lot better about it].

Myself, I don't like superspeed, I really don't. Hallways too crowded as it is, and it makes it awkward to move through with other collision objects. I don't mind nearly as much in flight, but on the ground it bugs me.

I deal because Speed Boost is freaking awesome, but it's also generally why I don't take Superspeed as a travel power.

Add to that I play with 200-300ms ping, sometimes get extra "red spike hell" lag for days after patches, and play on a computer that occasionally slowdowns, and this makes catching people in a PBAoE, even a 30 feet one, much harder than simply clicking on their name.

Admittedly, I will get to blast even more than I do now, and that's something positive. I don't want to complain as much as explain my reasons for not being thrilled with this change. Ultimately I get that the needs of many outweigh the needs of a few, and all that, and I guess I'm going to get buffed more by other people who didn't buff as much because they didn't like it, so that's another plus.
Just going to add something here, it doesn't look like it's changing to a PBAoE. It's changing to a targetted AoE. So you should still be able to milk the benefit from your range hopping.

Wouldn't be the first time , and prolly wouldn't be the last time.

    A. Merits wouldn't be too bad really, give they rain like candy, but well, I think it may be a bit early to pass judgement on the currency used until we know what it is using. Similarly, I do suspect that the vouchers won't be efficient either, but until we know, really not much point in worrying about it.

On another note, that's not really related to EvilGeko at all, I personally wouldn't expect to see a really 'easy'/"reasonably fast" Solo route for Praetorian Saga abilities until the Trial/Raid climate is on the next target. Although again, I don't really think there's a good point in speculating, until stuff get's announced.

Quite. The Astral Merit isn't really pointed imo. They rain like candy as it is. Perhaps an extra E. Merit for the first Random PUG iTrial you do in a day would give it a good incentive, but even that is questionable.

The big problem I feel, still, is that you really can't do anything else while in the queue. And I think it's unfortunate that other 'perks' are getting introduced before addressing the big issue. Since that just makes it harder and harder as the system ages to get folks to use the LFG system once it is in a usable state.

I still don't like Apex and Tin Mage. Just so annoying with their setups. I guess my situational awareness isn't that great, but I really dislike dealing with the swords of doom.

To be fair, about only thing I dislike with Tin Mage is the Director fight, and that may be tolerable now that I think about it. Might have to give that a run now. And it would prolly be tolerable if I ever ran it with a team that communicated and understood what the goal was with that given run.

Well, if they perfer to play alone on certain characters. Or if they have a 'raid' character. Or an optimized character that is far more fun to play on the trials than another character.

    But ya, poorly worded.
  23. It does sound more complex, however, BAF sounded ridiculously complex to me initially too.

Will have to see how it pans out in the 'real' game.

I think it's only longer because people regular do a full clear on Lam, which they really can't do in BAF [once you got your 40, you can't get any more]. 'Speed Runs' go reasonably fast, imo.
