*bangs fist on the door to Virtue while staring in* No fair my SG is having fun without me!
[/ QUOTE ]Hey, at least you can do that! I can't even get into the game!

Yeah but I'm watching from Freedom while they have fun. I am happy i can at least get on the east coast servers and have alts there.
[/ QUOTE ]I think you misread what I said...I'm stuck at the connection phase of the uploader...

>_< I've been praying the game doesn't crash hard on me.

So, there's really not much we can do except sit, wait and keep checking I take it?

Basically its not a issue with the game servers its between us and them. Until they fix it sadly no game on those servers. =( -

<--- east coast playing on a west coast server
I'm sure some node probably in the midwest between us and the west coast servers exploded. -
Yeah I can log onto Victory find, DBserver error if I try any west coast servers.
-
Yep same here kicked, was able to get back in once, got mapped again. Now I'm just getting DBServer messages.
Other people have no issue so I'm going to hazard a guess at a networking issue. -

I don't qualify for any of these... how can you get into the game industry if they're always looking for game industry experience????
I'd LOVE to be a QA tester for this game.
[/ QUOTE ]
The "experience required" flag is put onto job postings to limit the number of applicants who flat out would not qualify. It is not, however, a "hard" requirement -- if someone is sufficiently gifted and does very well on the various tests/interviews they can still be hired. It's happened before, it will happen again....but it is rare.
Work on Mods to popular games in your free time. This isn't "real" game development experience, in that it isn't usually a paid position, but it can teach you a lot about the why's and wherefore's of game development. This is more true if you work as part of a team, rather than solo mods.
Write Pen and Paper game designs. Whether adventures, game systems or settings, designing these can and does help you hone your skills and can be used as a sort of "portfolio" of design work in some cases.
Lastly, and best if you can get it, work as an intern at a game company. There is no better way to get past the "no experience" boundary than this.

Its like that for most jobs. When I've hired people or looked for jobs I've found its generally knowledge and drive and your desire to want the job that are greater factors to whether you'll be hired than having the exact qualifications.
I don't have a degree, yet the job I have now had a bachelors listed as a requirement. I got the job over a guy with a masters. Why? Because I showed more savvy, on the ground running smarts and wanted the job more. I also had WAY more hands on experience. -
I qualify for a couple of the NCSoft openings. Alas I am on the east coast and my poor mother would have a heart attack if I moved that far away.
Its a long story. I'd love to bring my web skills to NCSoft though otherwise. ^_^ -
Am I the only person who has played two characters to high levels with no travel power specifically to enjoy the zones? There are tons of neat, hidden/cool things in CoX. People just never take the time to look.
We use guides to find exploration badges and plagues, and we don't bother checking out the zones because we feel there is no reason.
One of the coolest things I ever found was that many of the buildings in St. Martial allow you to enter the lobby then take the elevator to the roof.
And the roofs of many of those buildings are really cool.
What I would like to see is more places where I can click on a door or entrance and actually get to see the inside of the building. The carnie tents in St. martial stand out to me as somewhere that could potentially be an awesome space inside.
I'd probably lose hours just randomly clicking doors to see what was inside. I found the lobby's in St. martial by accident. -

. . .it usually means you have to queue up to get a chance to kill a rabbit that has a chance to drop a foot that you need ten of, or open-world PvP, which is a greifer's paradise and everyone elses' hell.

Cool video! Though I still think you should hire on Samuraiko! Look what she can do -without- your resources, Hmmmm...? Imagine what she could do as a contracted employee!

This, the video here was ok, but the history one she did is just... amazing. I was speechless watching it. -

Actually.. Didn't the last patch Normalize Rikti Comm Officer XP to normal minion levels?
Maybe they could make Snake Eggs and such have 0XP 0inf 0ticket drops.... That way we could use them...?
-Rachel-
[/ QUOTE ]
I was actually curious about that. Reading the patch notes it seems this change only was meant to be for Comm officers in MA.
Where they changed in normal game content as well? If so that means the devs can make MA specific critters. -

I haven't seen a genuinely dangerous environment in the game, save for a little lava. Part of villainy is having a base rigged with tricks and deadly traps, poisonous gasses, crushing rooms that cause desperation as the team looks for a weak point in the wall to evade death, etc.
[/ QUOTE ]
There are some on that one Sea Witch mission v-side. Traps that just summon a pile of Controller pets on you if you get too near them. Very nifty.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh yeah the Legacy Chain seals. Totally forgot about those. The legacy Chain are so under utilized....
I should use them in a arc *runs off* -

During base raids
[/ QUOTE ]
And those have worked since when?
[/ QUOTE ]
I13? I can't remember it was only recently turned off when they started trying to fix bases. You use to be able to do pick up base raids.
The PVPEC Haunted House on test was also a gigantic boobytrapped base raid. (And fun!)
But yeah haven't been able to since i13. -
[ QUOTE ]
I know people will misuse the thread title, but anyways.
One thing I recall in a number of hero/superhero shows and comics is the infamous boobytrap where an item isn't what it seems or a floor tile causes a spray of fire and bullets, or a slight misstep causes a wall to close in and bring about your brutal end or a pair of walls to slide up from the floor and seperate the team.
I haven't seen a genuinely dangerous environment in the game, save for a little lava. Part of villainy is having a base rigged with tricks and deadly traps, poisonous gasses, crushing rooms that cause desperation as the team looks for a weak point in the wall to evade death, etc. I would like to see some more of that.
[/ QUOTE ]
During base raids, bases are like this. You can literally boobytrap them to the nines. Acid pits, pits with slow and -jump so you get stuck. Exploding mines. All sorts of stuff.
But I would love to see more boobytraps in the game. I get a kick out of the one in the Ernesto Hess TF everytime I set it off.
Likewise for the one in the STF where Aeon tricks you into entering the porter.
Good times. -

I wouldn't have a problem with it in and of itself.
My issue would lie in the Coding. Would the Devs be able to mark specific spawns to carry that flag, after the most recent changes? Would they have to undo what they've just done to accomplish it? If so then I don't think it's a good idea, due to the possible game-glitches it would spawn.
If they can just move the enemies you're reffering to into a separate bracket "Hellions, Skulls, Rikti, No Rewards" I'd -definitely- be fine with that!
I do have a few arcs in mind that would be best if I could spawn Snake Eggs, but I'd be more than happy to have 0XP for the Eggs rather than not be able to do it.
-Rachel-
[/ QUOTE ]
Unfortunately the coding was something I thought of when I came up with the idea. I don't know if the devs could add them back in but with zero rewards. Or if there is a way, while running a arc flagged as No Rewards/XP, the player receives nothing (Like when testing).
But I imagine if its a change that has to go onto the critter itself its not something the devs are likely to do anytime soon.
I think its just a question really of how the testing flag works and if its something that could be applied to the mission itself and not just how its access.
Maybe... *hopeful* -
I disagree. Though I do think we need a server, that is isolated from the rest of the shards (separate market/etc), but that allows players to purchase as a micro transaction certain levels or recipes.
This would be the twink/pvp server. Its a better option then trying to introduce something like this into the wilds of an existing server culture. Low level salvage already spikes on the market. I don't see letting people blow through the lowbie levels helping that. -

/unsigned.
They just recently made leveling easier, right before the MA
This suggestion implemented would make no sense with that just being done.
[/ QUOTE ]
This.
The devs aren't out to make leveling harder for players. You can get extremely good xp playing with a good 8 man team that isn't PLing with an exploit.
The main issue was people using exploits for personal gain not how fast people were leveling. The speed of leveling was a result of the exploit. Not the other way around. -
I'd love to be able to create missions in the architect, even using some of the items now banned as exploits, but have the mission operate as a arc being tested. In other words, No inspirations, No tickets, No XP and No Debt. The primary purpose being to create some insane missions mostly for fun (Really the idea of a map full of fire imps helping me just amuses me since I saw it mentioned by someone in the MA Abuse thread), or to create challenges for other players in a fun light that don't give a penalty or reward. They could even have their own category.
Part of what I enjoy about MA is being able to really push my characters who I've become bored playing in normal content because its too easy.
These arcs would also not be part of the rating system, but could be part of the tagging system coming with i15. People could label them as fun, a challenge, or a joke.
Yes I know right now you can create some of this and just run it as a test mission. But honestly I'd like to search and see what other insanity people have come up with. -
Oh snap...
Dad got out the belt and someone is getting a whuppin
In all fairness except for being cut off I approve of this wholly, nice to see the devs reacting in a quick and concise manner to address it. -
Yeah the EU guys seemed to get the biggest scope on new content teasers from Positron. There was a lot of stuff brought to these forums from the EU forums

You didn't miss anything in this event you can't otherwise get any other time.
[/ QUOTE ]
And this right here is what I saw complaints about while logged on - there were a few broadcasts of "is that it?"
I personally enjoyed it, when I wasn't lagging so badly that I couldn't get powers to fire.
[/ QUOTE ]
Being fair I myself was a bit bored with the event on live. Many many people though seemed to love it. But it had a bit of a "meh" quality for me. Doesn't mean I don't appreciate or recognize the massive effort that went into it though, and that I do appreciate.
I myself had insane fun once I hit up test, Pocket D was true insanity. But again depends on the player. For a lot of people they never get to the see the Arachnos Patrons or Signature Heroes outside of an occasional "oh noes!" spawn in a safeguard/Mayhem mission. Likewise probably for some of the GMs, so I can completely understand the excitement.
Not complaining through, I didn't get the people whining over broadcast either. Some people have to be a party wrecker though.
