  1. My problem with both of these zones is the same.. that I have to go through bad guys higher level than is level appropriate to get to them. Boomtown starts at 11, and yet in Steel Canyon all the bad guys near its entrance are level 15 through 20. But at least the ones in Steel don't mez... In Skyway on the way to Faultline, which is level appropriate at 14, you'll have to side step a good number of level 18 and 19 Lost and Clockworks, the lieutenants and bosses of which like to mez, sleep, and hold people (mez and sleep for the Lost, the clockworks will hit you with Tesla Cages). Now, each of these is made easier with a travel power, but not everyone takes a travel power.

There is ONE good thing about exemplering.....
the joys of being level 34, and begging level 8's in perez to let you AFK at the gate to work off debt.... =)

HA! Never thought of that. You've just invented "Reverse Power Leveling" or "Power Debt Reducing". Are we going to start seeing broadcasting now, "Hey level 42 blaster here, could some low-level here please PDR me?"

It doesn't work that way... Exemplaring doesn't have the same issue as Sidekicking, when you get too far away you don't automatically return to your level, but it uses the same radius for debt clearing.. if you aren't close to the person you are exemplar to, you get nothing.

Works the same way for all those "Defeat XX" mobs badges, you don't get credit for the kill unless you are close to the person who defeats it. That I can prove because a group of friends and I had not played since badges came out, then we all did the Synapse TF.. on one mission, one guy needed to afk, so we did the mission with him standing inside (to get exp) but waiting at the entrance. Near the end, we all got the Gearsmasher badge (for defeating clockwork gears that spawn after you defeat a clock boss) at the same time, except him because he hadn't gotten credit for all the gears we'd gotten in the one mission he stayed at the door afk.

    Some clarifications:
    1. You get XP debt reduced at 2x your real level's debt removal rate, not your exemplar level's debt removal rate. If you have no debt, the real level XP is turned into Influence.
    2. You do not get any enhancements while you are an exemplar.

    Some upcoming fixes:
    1. You will be able to do old TFs by exemplaring.
    2. Bad will not run away from exemplars.

The code for these has been written and is on its way through QA and into a patch. Stay tuned.

I'm not understanding the exp to debt work off conversion...

I'm level 22. When I fight an even con minion, I get 50 exp. If I have debt, I get 25 exp and 25 goes to debt. When I exemplared down to level 3 to play with a friend, fighting even con minions, I got 15 debt worked off. I thought I was supposed to get 50?

    What's up?

    Tanker Update

    Statesman,
If you can code exactly what you have said, then I have only one word for it: Perfect.
  6. Decisions, decisions... go as the reporter, or go get in on the action? ... hmmm...
  7. The main problem with any game in trying to designate an "Official" server for something that is not supported by game mechanics (i.e. - PvP is a game mechanic, Roleplaying is not), is that there will always be players who use that designation as a loophole.

For example, on an "Official Roleplay" server, while not the rule, in general, people who enjoy roleplay tend to level slower AND tend to be more easy going about disputes. Because of this, grieffers and power gamers actually ENJOY playing on an RP server, because it means they will have more uncontested (or easily pushed over opponents) access to high end game content. Now, in CoH, most of the content can be or is already instanced, so it avoids that, but it doesn't negate the fact that power gamers would play on an RP server just because they'd rather have 15 people at level 40 in the "best" zone than to have 100 people at level 40 in the "best" zone.

For roleplay, it really is the best method to develop the community outside of game or through word of mouth, and find places where people can gather in game on their own. Any attempt to legislate roleplaying in a game just spirals into defining roleplay... "But I AM roleplaying. I'm roleplaying a 14 year old with tourettes who is trapped in a computer game surrounded by people who think they are superheroes, and whose only relief from the pain caused to him by the game is to inflict pain on others in game. THAT's my role!"

And Fox, you forgot "The Official Asian Server", "The Official Goth Superhero Server", and "The Official 18+ Server" ...
