I was here for the roll out of IOs. My Kat/Regen is lvl 50, and is fitted out, for the most part, in ALL basic IO enhancements.
My rule of thumb when I crafted my IOs was anywhere I was using just one or two of the same enhancement, I would use one or two lvl 50 basic IOs. Anywhere I used three of the same enhancement, I would use 3 lvl 40 IOs.
I have no SOs or lower anywhere.
So, for example, Dull Pain & Reconstruction are both 6-slotted with 3 lvl 40 recharge & 3 lvl 40 healers. My attacks are slotted 1 lvl 50 +acc, 1 lvl 50 endo, 1 lvl 50 recharge & 3 lvl 40 +dam. (I only slot 1 +acc because I'm running Focused Accuracy)
My reasoning was that, because of ED, I didn't lose that much going with 3 40s rather than 3 50s. I think 3 40s give you aprox. +101%, while 3 50s give you aprox. +108%. Not sure if that is exact, it's been close to 3 years I've been away.
Yes, I do know that 2 lvl 50s give aprox. +98% and a lot of people go with all lvl 50s, 2 +acc, 2 +dam, 1 recharge & 1 endo.
Also, a few of my Katana attacks are slotted with all lvl 50 "sets." For the life of my I forget what the sets are.
Here's a question: Will I run into problems if I Exemplar down to run some of the lower level Task Forces? IIRC when I left there were some problems with IOs scaling down too much when you Exemplar, particularly the IO sets. -
Hey guys! I'm back to the game after a long absence. I'm wondering what might have changed for my Kat/Regen.
I lived through the I5 & ED roll out, otherwise know as The Crisis of Infinate Nerfs. Have the Devs rolled out any other major retcons like that one?
When I left, the key to Regen was 6-slotted Dull Pain, with 3 recharge & 3 healers. Instant Healing was no longer a toggle, and MOG was skippable.
3-slotted Fast Healing & 3-slotted Intigration were enough for 90% of fights. For tough fight you hit Dull Pain before the fight to up your HP and, by extention, up your total regen. If Dull Pain wore off you could hit Instant Healing.
3-slotted with healers Instant Healing actually provided more of a regen buff than Dull Pain. The downside was that the buff was short, and without Dull Pain HP buff you couldn't shrug off the Boss/AV alpha strikes. The only good thing about it was that by the time Instant Healing wore off Dull Pain was back up.
I soloed several AVs using Regen's Dull Pain-Instant Healing-Dull Pain cycle. I even managed to drag down a few of them.
Anyway, that's what I remember. Has it all changed much? -
Hey guys! I'm back to the game after a long absence. I'm wondering what might have changed for my Invul/SS Tanker.
I lived through the I5 & ED roll out, otherwise know as The Crisis of Infinate Nerfs. Have the Devs rolled out any other major retcons like that one?
Does Invincibility still have a built in Def debuff? (that NEVER made sense, IMO)
Can Rage still be made perma?
SS still have all those cool knock-ups & knock-downs? -
Say I have 6 Crushing Impact IOs and I slot them all in one of my attacks. As I understand it, this gives me these bonuses to that power:
acc: +68.9%
dam: +101.5%
end: +68.9%
rch: +68.9%
It also gives me this global bonus:
immob resistance +2.2%
max health +1.125%
tohit bonus +2.5%
recharge reduction 5%
psi resistance +2.5%
Now say I get another 6 Crushing Impact, and slot those in another attack. It will give the first group of bonuses to that attack as well. What about the global bonuses? Do I get another round of global bonuses?
What if I slot Mako's Bite in the second attack? I'd then get both groups of global bonuses, wouldn't I? -

Did Statesman get with his Quasi-Step-Sister and then Marry her, Betraying his best friend in the process ?

Now, I come from the South, so y'all'd better take this how you will, but quasi-step-sibilings are fair targets the last time I checked. Certainly not ideal, but fair.

As a social worker who works with at risk teens, I can tell you that tagging your step-sister is an old and honored tradition in many inner city households, as well.
I've seen some family trees that had loop-the-loops in them. -

But I'm a little sensitive on I5 - my 2 highest chars are dark defs.

Cha! Check my sig, I've got the hat trick - Invul Tanker, Regen Scrapper and Dark/Dark Defender.
Thank God I've got a Blaster. At least I'll have a toon to play until I6 comes out. -

Because of all the Archetypes, we're happiest with them [Defenders]. There are certainly issues with individual sets and powers - and those we're always looking at. Defenders, however, don't have any overarching problems.

And remember, that was posted by Statesman himself in THIS very forum on June 13th, LESS than two months ago.
Therefore, any nerfs to Defenders, even Dark/Dark Defenders or Force Field Defenders, must be a figment of the player's imagination.
After all, Defenders don't have any overarching problems, he's happiest with us... -
Here's a little something Maiden Mystica, my Fire/Dev Blaster, uses whenever her XP counter gets close to 2:00:
AoE attacks on mobs of -1 & -2 Minions
-1 and -2 Minions give crappy XP. However, I can eyeball a mob of 6-8 -1 Minions, line up just right, sprint up and unload with Flame Breath, follow it up with Fireball and drop the whole mob. EVERY time.
One -1 Minion is crappy XP, but EIGHT -1 Minions ain't half bad XP at all. Not too many groups later the Level Up music sound nice and sweet.
And this examply just reenforces the idea that, as Blasters playing solo, we are Bottom Feeders.
We want out prey to run -1 to -2 consistantly so we can kill them and kill them fast, and if they do happen to get into HtH or take a few pot shots, then they can't drag us down. At least, not too quickly...
