  1. sadly, took me a few minutes to figure out what was going on
  2. I ran one a year or so ago. The key to success: know their path(s) and have all of the teams focus on a single ship. Easy to take down, just a pain to organize.

I believe we did it in Steel Canyon and Founders' Fall. Go after the ships that are on the longest path ways through a city zone.

    ill/rad build

actually i do. I've all of these enhancements and sets. what i was looking for was not a critique on order of powers, what i was looking for was a way to shave off a few seconds for PA.

I chose my powers for a reason. I read your guide, it is good, but does not suit my needs.

    ill/rad build

here's my ill/rad build..PA is *almost* perma with this build, is there anything I can change slotting wise that will give me that extra % to get it perma? it's at 61.8s at the moment..

btw, there's a bug in mids that shows ice blast as the incorrect damage type for sets, decimation is basically postrion's blast recharge %.

    thanks ryxx

    It has been purchased.

    Respec again tonight!

    Ninja Run

    Perfect, thanks voodoo.

I got an illusion controller so stealth isn't an issue, just making sure that well, it was fast enough to be used. hmm, i forgot about the -threat..i hope it won't affect it too much

I can see the numbers in mids, but there's a difference between the numbers and how something feels.
  13. ohloh

    Ninja Run

Well, I've been playing around with builds and well, if I could get rid of super speed, i can fit everything i want..so,

is ninja run a viable alternative to super speed? usage wise, i don't care about the speed numbers itself, but usability.
  14. might have to do one more respec..mace mastery is accessible and i think i can squeeze in some more recharge and better aoe damage.
  15. just finished a respec and the troller is much tougher now for this run. huzzah!
  16. I'm in with my Ill/rad troller. she's a powerhouse! swiss army knife toon reporting for duty!

as a side note: stargate sg-1 is the best show ever. universe is bad.
  17. you think you had a bad day due to traffic?

we have nothing to complain about here in the US
  18. sounds like you need to adjust the regions.

Control Panel -> Change Keyboards/Input Methods -> Change Keyboards.

click on "add" and go to English (US)..i bet it's canadian that you're using

    problem solved
  19. People are not as nice as you think they are. People who struggled or put in the time for a particular reward would be furious (or very angry) that someone who did NOT have to put in the time and effort for the same benefit got it.

People think this way, people act this way, that's what people do.

Changing the system so everyone gets it does NOT work because of human nature. Granted, it wouldn't really effect veterans at all in game play since they already have it, but they were denied access to the rewards at some point, so why doesn't everyone else get the same treatment?
  20. Honestly, i don't really have a problem either way if it goes [I was only debating it because I'm bored at work at the moment]. The only vet reward I use is the assemble the team and every once in a while i'll pull out a nemesis staff.

GPBunny had a great solution that would appease the most amount of people. Make it selectable, that way people still have to toil through a couple of months to get a perk, but they can choose any perk they want. This is definitely a fair compromise.
  21. Then I should be able to do anything in the game without having to "earn" it. By earn i mean level. (I know that you have to learn to how play the game, but let's say you are a vet), You want a new character to play in a high level tf, you cannot, you are denied access to that particular part of the game because you haven't played long enough.

You can definitely get to play that particular part of the game, once you have played long enough.

I see the vet rewards the same way. I haven't played long enough to use it.

[bad analogy, but same basic line of logic]

So why do you want CoH to be like other games in regards to duration of play?

The PoV you made on my examples are very excellent, and they are indeed poor examples. I can't really think of any examples that couldn't be torn apart by the same types of dismantling.

The benefits that the game gives based on duration of play are various. A minor boost to something to you, could be a major benefit for others. I don't see the character creation as a major part of my play, since i rarely ever go into character creation. I enjoy my high level toons because I enjoy the high level action.

The dev's might say that character creation is a major part of the game for them, but I'm a developer for software, and what I say is a major part of the program is a minor part to everyone else (until it breaks).

Perspective of what is important is in the eye of the beholder. There really is no win to this argument unless they make every single one of the rewards available to everyone. You cannot pick and choose the rewards that you give, someone will be left unhappy.
  23. Just because a game is unique does not mean it cannot be defined in the same criteria used in other games. Take Torchlight for example. Your character builds up exactly the same way as you do in CoH (just doesn't have the character designer). You get items (or enhancements) to make your toon more powerful. You can follow any line of story you want. Your character gains and grows abilities, but still uses their lower-level ones.

Weird I just described another game using CoH playstyle? But it's unique? Yes, in its own way, but can still be described in general context.

Torchlight feels like a job to me, just as CoH does, but one that I ENJOY.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there are several games out there that allow you to customize your characters look right from the start as well.

If a single feature is strong enough to pull a customer from their current game for how it is, that feature has done its job. Do you honestly think a customer that comes from another game will give up the game because they have to play it to get a certain perk in addition to the feature?

How you play the game is how you play it, I might play it differently. My goal could be getting as many enhancements as i can. Or as much influence. I could not want to play the story-aspect of the game or care what my character looks like (Which I rarely do).

Better is opinion, and does not carry any weight in a debate or argument.

Comparison to other games is the best way to weigh how valuable something is. Without any perspective, there is no argument.
  24. Every single one of your examples are as well.

    Fine.

Credit card companies can give special discounts to customers that have been with them for a long time.

    Banks do the same.

    Insurance companies do the same.

Excluding this game from all other MMOs is a poor excuse to dismiss my point.
