Very cool.. Hey Mr. Grey! Good to thread with you again? :-)

Kensai Imagawa had only been in Paragon city a few days before all this rukus had gone down. He had emerged here from the same shrine that transported his cousin, Motoyasu Yoshitomo, to this incredible time and place. He was on a mission to find his cousin of course; after all, the mighty Jade Dragon Empire wanted the third son of the Emperor back and had sent the Kensai to seek him out.
Paragon City, although bizzare and even a bit confusing to the mighty samurai kensai, Imagawa realized what his cousin had quickly learned: There was a great chance to gain honor and prestige in this new environment, and he was going to gain as much as both as he could in his mission.
Imagawa was still taking in all the new information of this time and place when the stuff hit the fan. In the place that was called "Blyde Square" by the locals he saw a massive machine like army attacking a small band of these so called "heroes". Outnumbered. Outgunned. That would have been painfully obvious even to a layperson. The Kensai pulled his Kitana and his Wakizashi, smiled a bit to himself, and ran at full speed towards the action. It was going to be an Honorable day indeed... -
As long as there are a few good friends, some soda and cheetoes or chips, a few good characters and some multisided dice to use... Gygax's spirit will always be there.. nothing can ever change that simple truth. *holds up glass of soda* To the G-man. Gygax forever!

I'm interested if you guys think my writings have been good or at least up to the standards you are looking for. I agree with this concept you are trying because it will make for better storytelling as well as better character development. The only thing I would say is that single stories as well as cooperative stories should be allowed for creativity purposes as well as the ability to write even when your partner may not be around. I am not on here as much as I would like (trying to take care of my dad, he's been in the hospital for 6 months and we finally have gotten him home)... so again, I'd be honored to contribute if you would have me... stories are to be written on the city of villians forums I take it?

I first met you at the 1981 Gen Con, and again ten years later, I fought side by side with you in an arena event, I rolled my dice against you in the Finals. Mr. Gygax, DnD changed my life. DnD influenced my life and allowed my imagination to soar. It made me proud to be called "geek".
I cannot think of a world without the creativity of your mind Mr. G. I cannot possible comprehend how all role playing games would even exist without that great game that taught us old gamers how to believe in something so fantastic.
I know that now you must be heading up the greatest roleplaying tournament ever created in that GenCon in the sky. You will be missed Mr. G. more than you might ever believe. I will place my first d20 in a box and put it on my shelf and never touch it again in your honor.
My characters from all my games, pnp or computer, will have their heads hung low and in a moment of silence with black armband wrapped tight to give their final appreciation of your genius.
May the legend of Gygax continue forevermore. Let us all roll one more Crit in honor of the G! Peace Gary, Peace. -
The situation seemed more hopeless than before. Professor IQ had tried his best to think of a way out of the predicament they had all fallen into. He said to his companions after much thought, "If we are to be as vagabonds and restless wanderers then so be it. We cannot just stay here and let the Miasma wipe us out as well, we must seek assistance. I am heading out to find more survivors if possible, it is the only way if we are to have any chance of slowing down this Miasma. Now, I suggest we begin to make our way towards Dark Astoria, its as good as any place else I can think of." The Professor TK'ed his top hat to his head and began his journey with or without his companions. He was not going to just sit around and wait for the end, he would face this evil and either be victorious or defeated. IQ then gathered the power within him and lept a great leap towards an uncertain future....

(OOC: lets not ruin a good rp thread all.. keep everything in due bounds ok? Continue on my friends without stepping on any toes or whatever...))

Iq watched as Wonerderful took off again and shook his head, "Well, at least someone doesn't seem to worried about the whole situation.. and fighting in Pocket D??? Then DJ Zero must have been eliminated as well.." IQ sighed. "Ok then Masque, I willing to go with you to Atlas Park. Maybe, just maybe you are correct about MAGI having something. It wouldn't hurt us to do some investigation." IQ looked over to Pure, "What seems the matter Pure, you have been far too quiet as of late, is there something you want to add to this discussion?"

"Look, I don't like any of you and I know he doesn't like me," he thumbed toward Masque, "but whatever wrecked your city will probably move to the Isles when it's done here. And that makes it my problem too, so for the moment it seems we are to be allies. My name is Reaga. And the rest of you are...?"
Reaga you dolt! Put the gun down!
Reaga quickly placed his rifle in the compartment on his back. Some more clicking and the gun was safely locked in place.

IQ was startled a bit as the man had come in, he quickly jumped in front of Goth as if to shield her and held his hand out straight in front ready to blast the guy with a psychic attack if he so much as looked at the group the wrong way.
When the man finally put his gun away the Professor eased up a bit. In a steadied voice he said, "So, it is true then Reaga that the miasma didn't just hit us eh or at least knows no difference between the light side and the dark eh? Well then, it would behoove us to start figuring out what our next move should be with even a greater sense of urgency." IQ looked around at everyone and back to Reaga. "I am Professor IQ: Freemason, Shriner, Just a man trying to help others when all this occured. So you must be the one who killed the strange woman with such deadly accuracy. Impressive I must say. Whatever your past, you most definetely know what you are doing, I respect that. Do I trust you? No. But this is not a time for meddling words or non-existant stereotyped rivalries to be had, we must work together or the end will come for us all.." He looked over to the White Masque and said, "Even to you my powerful friend." -
IQ shook his head, "I do not know Goth. The only other place I can think of is Talos Island right underneath the statue of Talos. The last I had heard before all communication went dead was that the miasma seemed to not 'desire' if you will to go near it. Maybe that mysterious old shelter that is supposed to exist at the base of the statue still remains? Unless you all have heard something more.." IQ thought a minute and then had another idea.. "Wait a minute.." IQ mulled over his thoughts, "What about Pocket D??" His voice became filled with a bit of excitement. "It doesn't technically exist in this dimension so perhaps the miasma would not be able to get there! We can however! Most heroes I know have their special little Pocket D recall device on them at all times! Perhaps this is the solution we have been looking for! What say you all? Should we make the teleporting jump into Pocket D?"....

The State of the Game, tonight my friends, is strong, vibrant and better than it has ever been before. Tonight, I am proud to say that the State of City of Heroes and Villains proves that you CAN bring fun, thought and diversity to the MMO scene and make it work. After nearly four years of this best MMO game in existence, let the world know: We are here and we aren't going anywhere. Long live Paragon City and the Rogue Isles.

OOC: Dogma, hey man, cool stuff but I am worried that you might be playing a "god" type character? Anyway... love the story developing.

Professor IQ listened intently to the others in the warehouse, but something in the back of his mind bothered him very much. If he were a Jedi, he might say that there was a "disturbance in the Force".. but this was no time to make light of their current situation. He spoke to them all with a low and steady voice, "Look my friends, something is amiss here. We cannot tarry long here. We must find not only adequate shelter but other survivors as well. Should we attempt to go back to Atlas and try to take cover in the city hall? Perhaps something the M.A.G.I. have can help us as Pure had mentioned before. Things do not feel right here.. they just do not feel right..." IQ's voice trailed off a moment. He quickly TK'ed his top hat to his hand and got up. "I'd really like to hear what the rest of you have to say on this matter. We obviously cannot stay here."
-
IQ listened intently to both Pure and Wonederful and tried to imagine their own horrors while trying to put the pieces together. He didn't like the current situation at all.. he was even more worried about the rest of his stablemates. Were Ms. Thunderbird, Amberk, Cycron, and the rest all dead? He certainly hoped not. The fears in his heart though would not rest.
When the question was asked about where they were, IQ realized that he had no idea. In his haste to survive he wasn't even thinking about where he had gone. He sat back a bit and tried to think about where their next move should be... his heart and his mind ached. -
IQ thought a minute and looked at Wonederful and spoke in a more calm voice. "Stories? Ahh, I see where you are going with this, you also seek answers to questions we do not have. Still I agree that we need more information. I am Professor IQ, I was working my way through Baumtown when this 'miasma' struck. It literally struck from nowhere and just started dealing its deadly objectives.
I had lept to the top of a rather tall building when I saw the destruction below. My instincts told me this was not going to go well and my intellect and rather strong mental powers made me realize the predicament I was in. So, I left post haste. That is when the 'miasma' started to ..."
IQ's voice trailed off as White Masque headed out. "Ooo kay.., I know you are powerful Masque but I do hope you will be careful out there, we do not know what we deal with.."
The Masque had gone and the Professor was still at a loss as to the next move. "I believe we will need to go somewhere else to make our encampment, but... as to exactly where, I am not sure. Any ideas?" IQ stated the question to the group as a whole. "Obviously we need to really be careful now, looks like we have more trouble that I had initally feared we might just get." IQ added as an afterthought. -
IQ turned quickly, the shot had done its deadly deed but that was the least of the Professor's worries. "Get down! Get down! Whomever shot that is obviously a superior marksman! (or Woman) And if he or she can kill that minion with one clean shot I am going to assume he or she can kill us too! Stay away from any windows or cracks in the wall or any other possible opening!" IQ went down to his knees as he took in the moment to calculate. The same magic which had unlocked all of his human potential while adding its own extraordinary twist to him also made his already formidable intellegence even more so formidable.
It took only seconds for the Professor to establish where the shot had come from; it took only a few moments more for him to find the crack in the wall where the shot made entry. "Here!" He said in an excited tone. He quickly peered out the crack and saw only the dark and gloomy outside. IQ pulled his head back and began to make lightning fast calculations once more, he then turned back to the crack in the wall and peered out again.
"Let's see if there is any response to an unexpected situation." IQ said with a slight tone of vengence. He spotted an old oil barrel just within range of sight and the range of his TK. Using his power he levitated the barrel off the ground and using the calculations and triangulations he had done in his head, he whipped the barrel toward where the shot had originated. He doubted seriously he would hit the shooter, hell, he may not even come close, but he wanted the shooter to be aware that his moment of surprise was lost. It was real "shot in the dark".. (forgive pun).. -
((OOC: dang, had hoped my attack did something.. hehe oh well.. hehe))
-
Immediately IQ was on his feet. A minion of the "Miasma" had been in their midst all along! The Professor was outraged. He had overlooked the possibility that the new enemy could have spies and it made him even angrier at himself. He put his gloved hands to his temples and said aloud, "Let's see how you handle a migraine headache!" Professor IQ sent a powerful psychic attack at the woman hoping to give Pure an opportunity to counter attack...

((OOC: Well here I am, the Professor IQ at your service :-))

((and yes, Prof has black pants and red shirt underneath the jacket. This is the current look for him.. and fleur d'li is the closest thing to anything Masonic on the site.. I had to embellish him exactly what he would be wearing. Hope this helps for visual sake)) -
IQ bowed to Goth and even though he was sitting down he still swept off his tophat in a gentlemanly gesture to her. He then used telekinesis to hang his tophat on a nearby nail on the wall. He then turned back to White Mask and said, "Well then, I would argue we need to start thinking about what are plans are to be. This warehouse looks to be in relatively decent shape and should be our temporary base of operations until we decide to go elsewhere. I still believe we must have reconnaisance and any other type of information gathering that is possible if we are to survive here." IQ sat with his left hand on his chin, thought a minute, and continued, "And, we will need provisions as well. Food, water, necessities such as that are crucial. We must act as if we were the survivors of an all out Nuclear War. Dangerous days lie ahead I am afraid. Let us gather our wits and our intellects and decide how we act from this point further.."
-
IQ nodded. "How so full of irony it is that the fall of Paragon's heroes owes itself not to the struggle between the usual conflict between Statesman and Lord Recluse or even the usual power struggle between the various factions that existed, no, ironic that something entirely esoteric, entirely 'super-powered' in itself would undo the gathering of heroes to be found here in Paragon City. And we seem to be some of its last remanents. Now we are more vulnerable than ever before. I certainly hope that this 'miasma' as it were has affected the 'dark-siders' over there in the Rogue Isles or else we may face other threats that we surely do not need right now..."

"I am called White Masque by those who know me." The man said pleasantly. "Would any of you object if I were to join your small force here...?"

Professor IQ pulled down his glasses to the end of his nose, his right eyebrow back into a "Spock" position as he replied in a bit startled voice, "What in the name of the Templars? Oh, well, it seems you are powerful indeed sir. Your essense and eminence are quite extraordinary." IQ pushed his glasses back up flush to his face and continued, "I would not be opposed to your addition here, but I must ask you. Where in the name of the Supreme Architect did you just come from? And what more can you add to our knowledge base about this infernal 'miasma'?"
