What if Doomsday had come to Paragon City
..PT2 our story so far,
The Day was Bright crisp; fall had come to Paragon City. Perez Park had been cleaned out by many of the City's heroes there was a few Reports of Muggings where still reported from time to time. The Park was Still a good place to patrol for some of the Lower Security Clearance heroes, But all in all the life had returned to normal it had been about 3 years ago that the rikti had been defeated and much of the City was still being rebuilt. Jobs where growing do the growth of construction, small business that are the backbone of many communities had sprung up over night. All in All the city was doing well for itself. The two lovers where holding hands in the park. Walking down some of the more well known but darker paths in the Park.
"Hard to believe a year ago this place was taken over by the street gangs, and the Thorns."
"Yes I know sweet, (With a wink in where eye) you want to find some place private."
"Sue Damn Girl, that make s three time today,"
"What can I say there is something in the air"
"Alright."
The Two walk off the open path to a private spot they know of. As soon as the two arrive they hear the strange sound of thumbing coming about 100 yards away from them. It sound almost like something is coming up from the earth.
"Did you hear that..."
"Ya, what is it?"
"I don't know stay here let me see what is it"
"Be careful"
"Hey Baby I'm a hero what can happen there is not to much I can't handle"
As Stallion was a Scrapper all the way he was right there was not to much he could handle. He had taken on 3 squads of 5th column solders that had attacked his team the rest of the team had been knocked cold. The Stallions Fast regeration had been the key factor in that battle.
The Stallion went into the deeper into Perez Park; He heard a loud rumble and the explosion of Dirt and Ground go up before him. Standing Before him was a Creature well over 9 feel tall One arm tied behinds its back by Steel cables. The Green jumpsuit it was wearing was covered in dirt it look like it had been bared alive in it. One hand was free and it had boney patursions sticking out. The Stallion looked at the creature and Smiled looks like another wanna be bad guy. "Buddy you have any Idea on who I am. Im the Stallion and I'm going to kick your butt." This where the last words the Stallion said before the Creature moved with Lighting fast speed and placed his fist though the young heroes chest. The Creature flings the body of the young hero off to the side like a rage doll. Sue after hearing the loud noise comes to find the Stallion.
"Honey you there, What was all the noise over here," As she comes up the trail she can see her boyfriends body laying there his back is to her and she can not see the gapping hole in his chest. Sue Rushes to his side "OMG, Stallion Don't now I'll get you to the hospital. " As Sue rushes to his side and round the tree for the first time she can sees the hole. She is shocked and is about to scream for help. She sees a Shadow standing over her. As she looks up she sees the creature, its hand pulled back in a Full force blow. Before she can Scream the Creature strikes............(Well that sets the stage. Remember that this was the doomsday creature the same one that killed Big Blue (Superman) and trashed the JLA. Your Single Character my have a few chances of fighting the creature. But what I'm looking for in this thread is your story telling skills. 3 facts to keep in mind about the doomsday creature. One Doomsday has almost no internal organs most of his body is made up of Muscle Mass. The Creature can Evolve a defense for most powers this is way it is considered the ultimate survivor. His Endurance is about equal to the man of Steel, he has a little bit stronger than Old Blue boy. Remember that most energy attacks just upset him the JLA blasted him with everything that they had and he did not even blink at this. Keep these factors in mind and have fun with the story. I will then pull off the whole tread after it is completed and post it on the fan story telling Forum here on City of Heroes. Thanks all Good Luck and have fun
Tick-Tok was doing his routine patrol of the Perez Park area, He spotted something shining in the forest below.
"Now what do we have here?" Tick-Tok said as he landed into the small grove, as he touched the ground something hit him in the back sending him flying into a statue left over from who nows when? Tick-Tok got up and flipped over behind the strange creature, and did a cartwheel kick which sent the creature flying into the same statue, but this time the statue smashed completely. Tick-Tok shot out a tesla cage which held the creature in place.
"Who are you?" Tick-Tok said as he took a fighting stance.
The Creature looks at the ring that os holding him inplace and begines to move. To the pure horrer of Tic-Tok This simple ring of energy that would ahve held some of the most powerful Villains in Paragon is not even phased by it. The Creature picks up a Junk of the Statue what Tic-Tok can estatement weights in at a easy 1 ton. The Creature thorws it With the Speed if a Bullet. Tic-tok does not have time to dodge and is hit square in the chest and is sent flying into thicker forest parts of Perez Park. The Creature Jumps into the air heading to the other sections of the Park that will lead into the City Proper
Captain Fletcher sat on a large concrete block near the archway between Perez Park and Atlas Park loading oversized bullets into his magazine. He'd led a five man squad in after a Kraken, reported in the Park, but they came up empty. There were only Man of Wars out this day.
As usual, there were a handful of heroes hanging around the archway, either coming or going, all with something to prove. Just down the street, a small group of superheroes was trashing a gang of skulls. Fletcher laughed when one of the skulls went through the bus stop glass. "Amateurs."
He looked back at his squad, all muddied up and cleaning off their gear as they took their first rest of the day. They'd done good. Each time he goes out with them he's amazed at the progress they're making.
He took a long drag of his cigar, plucked it from his teeth and opened his mouth to say something. The tranportation droid behind him initiated a warning. The comment was overrun by, "Incoming!"
The soldiers sprung up, scanning the horizon in the direction the captain was pointing. A figure in green landed among the heroes as they were basking in the pride of their victory, and shattered them. Energy bolts bounced off of the unknown entity, rock shatered across it's limbs and back, and a well placed radiation beam hit it in the eye, annoying it long enough to draw the new creature's full wrath.
"Marx, Up." Fletcher shouted as they all took defensive positions behind the concrete.
"Sniper up." Marx called as he settled behind cover and braced his rifle on the concrete slab. He'd acquired a site picture of the green creature holding a horned hero by the neck as flame danced around both of them. "Target Obscured."
"Maximum force load, fire at will." Fletcher put his cigar back between his teeth as he turned back toward the droid. "Get me CIC, emergency channel."
Marx pulled the clip from his rifle without taking the crosshair off of the green jumpsuited creature. He slid a special clip into the rifle and pulled back on the bolt. The hyperdense round in the chamber fell to the concrete and rolled onto the ground as it was replaced by the most deadly round ever made by man. Marx ratcheted the guass power up to full to compensate for the new ammo.
When the head came off the horned demon, the creature turned toward the archway and crouched. Marx's rifle voiced his dismay. The butt shoved Marx back eight inches and the crack of the round going supersonic caused leaves to fall from a nearby tree. The brass hit with a heavy "tong" and then rolled to a stop on the concrete platform.
Carter watched the green jumpsuit go backward and hit the deck. "Target down." It was his job to call the shot. But he'd dealt with the unusual before, so he kept his scope on the target and watched as it got to its feet again. "Target back up."
Captain Fletcher turned toward the droid, having just completed his conversation with CIC. "Displace through the doors!"
"I can take him." Marx insisted firing his second round into the creature. This one only staggered him as he started his jump, knocking him off course. The creature crashed into a building and disappeared from sight leaving a shower of glass speeding down the side of the building and glimmering with sunlight.
Captain Fletcher grabbed Marx by the shoulder and pulled him from his braced position. "MOVE!!"
The Police guards at the gate looked up at the doors as they started to close.
Captain Fletcher pushed his men through the doorway and yelled to the heroes near the door, "Get through the gate! Do NOT stand and fight it!"
And then it reappeared, heading directly for the gate. A hero with a large hammer slammed into the creature from the side and both security drones opened fire on it as Captain Fletcher pushed everyone he could through the closing gates. "GO, GO, GO!"
Several heroes elected to stay behind or simply chose to run too late. When the gates shut, Fletcher told his group to take up a defensive position. Then he moved off to the side to begin coordinating the hunting and extermination of this new threat.
The Cap. Fletcher turns on the video feed from the Camera over the Gateway to Atlas Park The Doors are well over 100 tons each and are capable of stoping some of the must powerful villians that Paragon knows. As the Video flicks to light Cap. Fletcher can see that the heroes that have moved to Stop the Creature are being torn apart. A load thud is heard againest the doors as the Tanker with the Hammer attack the Creature is flung againest the door like a rage doll. The Creaures other arm has gotten loose Cap. Fletcher can see clearly now that the other hand has boney pertustions sticking out now With the Grace and power of something born with Pure killing instinct the creature is on top of the police drones the rays bouncing off of the creature with ease. with two quick blows the drones are destroyed. With a roar of pure rage the creature now looks at the titanum doors that stand in his way and begins to bond on them with full force blows. On the other side the Gathered Police and heroes can see that the doors are being dented in, they will not last long.
It had been a weird week for Sol-Ar. After finally managing to attain a Security Level of 34, he got a call from one of his contacts in Independence Port, telling him the Terra Volta Reactor was under attack...again! He had flown over there as fast as he could, relieved to see that others had answered the call as well. As a Tank, he was used to being the first one through any door the group went through, taking the majority of damage aimed at the heroes...and he had done exactly that inside the reactor, thrown himself in the line of fire time and again, while his teammates ensured the reactor stayed cool and intact throughout the numerous waves of attacks against it. In the end, himself and one other had been the only two left standings, the villians and other heroes laid around them defeated.
That had only been the begining of his troubles, because after leaving the reactor he had been told to get checked out for radiation poisoning! Turns out he didn't have that particularly nasty side effect hit him from being inside a nuclear reactor running at three hundred percent non-stop throughout the battle, thank goodness...but he still didn't escape unscathed. Turns out the radiation altered his genetic structure more than it had already been tampered with when that Rikti Light Emitting Bomb had exploded in his face, first granting him his powers to absorb sunlight.
Through careful experimentation, Sol-Ar discovered that not everything that had changed had been bad. He could no longer ancor himself to the earth as he once could, unmoving from even the most powerful of blows, unyielding to any force trying to move him...but he had gained new abilities as well. In place of his Unyielding Stance, he found himself now to be almost truely unstoppable, his endurance and abilities increased to before unimaginable level: He could now fly almost as fast as some of his superspeed friends. When before he had been using his super strength to knock his enemies into the air and stun them for three follow up blows that would put them down, he had struck one Crey Protector so hard he had launched the man four stories up into the air, sending him crashing back to earth unconsious! But the biggest difference was in his ability to take damage. Before he had taken missiles and rockets point blank in the face without flinching, bullets had bounced off his costume and skin without leaving a trace...but since coming out of the reactor his Invulnerability seemed to have gone into overdrive. He had waded into the middle of a group of 15 Rikti Communication Officers, Monkeys, and Swordsmen that were threatening to take down two lower level heroes...and come out on top! Not only that, he had not been hurt once throughout the entire exchange! Blows had landed, he was sure, but none of them really effected him, and he was starting to become scared about what had happened to him inside that reactor.
His thoughts of worry were soon cut short when he heard reports coming over his commlink unit about a massive disturbance coming from one of the entry control points in the city. Wondering what could possibly be giving one of those re-enforced secure areas a problem, and wanting to lend a hand if he could, he turned his flight towards the area in question, his ankle length red cape fluttering behind him. He became a streak of blue and red as he sped across the sky, his thought turning to concern for the dedicated men and women of the PCPD who manned those points, wondering if they were alright.
He landed a few seconds after the call went out, his red boots gently touching the ground. Walking over to a man who was chewing a cigar, wearing officer ranks, and obviously in charge, Sol-Ar glanced over and his eyes widened as he saw the damage on the screen the man was looking at. His eyes grew wider as he took in the steady dent being pounded into what he had once thought were indestructible doors.
He soon put on a serious face though as he saw the carnage this creature was raining down on the other side of the doors, and he could see the wounded and crippled laying at it's feet.
"Anything I can do to help sir?"
Cap. Fletcher looks at Sol-ar and says " Are you kidding, That thing out there just trashed well over a dozen or more, as well 2 police drones. You can see that the doors will not last long. Yes we can use your help. This Kids we have here ar all low level heroes. I think I have seen you before Sol-ar isn't it. Your one of the young upcoming heroes in the City. Glade to have you here. " Here is the low down that creature just showed up out of the park my men and I dropped it with some of are most powerful firepower and the Damn thing Still got up." I have placed a call into City hall but have not heard anything form any of the Statesmen team. I have a Feeling that before this is all done we will need there help in this matter." "So Kid you think you can help?"
<<Power Surge detected>>
Calash landed on the top of a building, the force shook the building as his massive bulk impacted the roof. As the dust settled he stood up and looked out at the surrounding buildings. Though he seemed very peaceful the computers in the cyborgs head were very active.
<<Classifying power type>>
<<Unknown power type. Creating new record>>
<<Power levels exceed all known recorded levels. Unable to determine source>>
For a moment he stood there contemplating the information he was seeing. Something had entered the city and it was big. More troublesome was the fact that he could not identify it. Even with the recent invaders he was able to classify the power as magic in origin, but this was something totally different.
<<Police transmission detected. Unknown enemy approaching Atlas Park>>
Quickly the Cyborg leapt from the rooftop, streaking across the sky as he jumped from building to building. Very quickly he arrived at the tram. Without wasting any time he moved onto the tram to get to Atlas park.
The first thing Calash noticed when he stepped off of the tram was that the ground was shaking. People were running away in horror from what they though were tremors from a small earthquake. His scanners told him otherwise, the tremors were from pounding on the Perez Park gate.
As he arrived he was greated with a shocking site. The massive doors were being pounded on from the other side. The metal was buckling under the tremendous force that was being applied to each attack. Calash stood there for a moment, his sensors analyzing the door, inspecting its strength. He then approached Cap. Fletcher
What is causing this damage?
His voice was very robotic, yet a hint of human emotion lingered in the statement. He was worried, something very powerful was on the other side of the door
more powerful that anything he had encountered in his 39 security levels of service.
He paused for a moment before continuing.
The door super structure is failing. ETA to failure
..5 minutes.
Sol-Ar's mouth turned into a grim determined line as he heard the Captain's statement of the facts so far. Glancing around, he took in the young scared faces of some of the heroes surrounding him. He saw determination and hope there as well, and he turned back to the Captain as he replied:
"I can get people out of here in a hurry if you need me to, anyone in need of immediate medical treatment I can take first to the hospital. If you can handle the evac with whatever materials you have at hand, I can at least try to buy you some time as a rear guard, try to slow this thing down..." and he glanced back at the door as he watched the dent grow steadily larger, his voice taking on an uncertain quality: "...somehow."
Then the cyborg arrived, and Sol-Ar turned to glance in his direction. He was glad to have some other higher level heroes on hand for the situation, until he heard the estimate on how long the door would stand: Five minutes.
His tone was precise as his eyes never left the door: "Captain, that's not alot of time. In fact it might take me longer to start transporting everyone back and forth from the hospital before this thing makes it's way through the door. I suggest you gather some civilian vehicles and start transporting everyone out of here who can and is willing to go. Also, you might want to get over to City Hall personally and try to explain to them the situation we have here, just in case they think this is not a high priority threat yet."
Sol-Ar kept his eyes on the door, but directed his next comment to the newly arrived Cyborg: "Glad you could make it to the party. My name is Sol-Ar, nothing too fancy in my powers, I can just take and dish alot of damage. How about you, anything you have in your bag of tricks that can help us slow this thing down?"
With every Blow the Creaure grows in anger and rage. The Video feed from over the Gate to atlas park shows that the gate will last about the estimated time the Cyborg gave. From the other side the younger heroes begin to move the injured. Cap. Flethcer looks at the Monitor and his Comm unit "Where in the Hell is the Statesmen. and why in the hell have not some of the cities top heroes responded yet." The heroes on the other side of the titinum door start to see hung junks of the reinforced concreat that is hold the doors in place are cracking and falling for the gate area. " This is not good " say one of the officers.
Calash stood for several moments silently gazing at the quickly failing door. Though he seemed silent his internal systems raced to establish an uplink to the video monitors.
Woah
..
It was a much more human statement than normally came from the cold Cyborg. The video feed showed the carnage on the other side of the door, the giant beast that was ripping apart a structure not even Nemesis could break down.
<<Target ID: Unknown, creating new record>>
<<Target ID #2332 linked to energy reading #998476563>>
His internal systems continued to ramble on as he gazed at the image in his head. He was so focused upon the image that it took a moment before he responded to Sol-Ar.
Greetings Sol-Ar, My ID is Calash
<<Target ID: Sol-Ar. Data retrieved. Registered Hero>>
The Cyborg stood for a moment longer, once again fixated upon the giant door as the surrounding wall began to fail. Red arcs of energy began to jump across his body as his defense systems powered up. With a bright flash flames suddenly burst out around him, enveloping his body in a Fiery Shield. A small amount of heat radiated over the nearby people, much less than one would expect from flames of that size.
Tricks
.yes, I have a few tricks.
His robotic hand clenched in anticipation of what would most likely be a dangerous battle.
"We must stop the target here. If it gets lose in the city the loss of life with be more than the city transporters can handle"
The Creaure now fully in raged gives the Gate its final death blows, just as the door explodes in on the other side the last of the young heroes have moved all of the wounded out of the area the police have fallen back and are forming a Defensive line at the Second gate leading into Atlas park. The Watch commander is about to give the order to shut the second door. When Cap. Fletcher stops him. "Look there are two good heroes over there about 50 yards from here. You close the doors and they are trapped we have to give them time to see if they can stop the creature and for the some of higher heroes will get here." Cap. Fletcher look at the heroes ready do die for Paragon if it comes down to it. He thinks to himself "God Help us all, if they fail"
Sol-Ar listened as the workers and police scrambled around them to transport the wounded, moving only as fast as their injuries would allow. Once he saw Calash ignite into flames, he smiled grimly and nodded. Although he was standing right next to the cyborg, his body registered none of the heat obviously coming off the hero.
He heard Capt Fletcher's words as they were about to close off the second portal to the city, wanting to wait to see how successful he and Calash would be against this thing and hoping against hope for higher level heroes to arrive and help. Raising his voice so he could be heard over the constant metalic banging sound of the creature's fists slamming into barrier before it, he called back over his shoulder:
"You might want to close that thing, just in case we can't hold it back! If more heroes show they can at least form a second front where this thing will be forced to go, bottlenecking it at the entrance to Atlas Park!"
The words were no sooner out of his mouth than the door before them exploded inwards, a giant grey hand with bony spikes along the knuckles showing through the opening, surrounded by the scrapped remains of a green glove.
Sol-Ar felt his stomach flutter and tighten all at the same time as he took in the massive size, power, and obvious viciousness of the enemy they were facing. Focusing his mind on all the innocents that would suffer if he and Calash were not able to stop this thing, or at least slow it down, he found his inner calm and resolve. He felt his powers growing inside him, his rage at the horror and destruction this thing seemed to thrive on growing stronger, and he knew he would be in for the fight of his life. Slowly forming his hands into fists, he took one step forwards so he was out of Calash's line of fire, but still the closer one to the creature. He narrowed his gaze, his face settled with resolve and purpose, his voice ringing with authority:
"End of the line, whatever you are...your rampage ends here!"
"Sir, permission to join the two heroes inside." Marx stood next to Captain Fletcher, reloading his gun from the ammo brought by other soldiers as they arrived.
Another soldier, Gabresey stood next to him. "Me too, sir."
Fletcher looked over the evacuation, the younger heroes pooling up around the door, and even civillians collecting to look in at the noise and see what all the disturbance was about. "I just can't help but think about Bull Run. All those people. What would have happened if the South pursued? I can't take that chance. Permission denied, prepare to herd this crowd back."
The gate guards began firing at the opening with their shotguns and civilian assault rifles as the hole grew larger and the creature invaded more and more into the small corridore between sections of the city.
Captain Fletcher grabbed one of the soldiers that had just arrived off of a truck. "When I point at you, I want you to fire your LAW at the top of the archway." He turned toward Sgt Shaw, who had also arrived on the scene moments earlier. "Shaw, deploy every available gun to disperse the crowd, and get the wounded out of here by truck. Instruct your men to fire over the crowd's head. We need to clear this area."
"Yes Sir!" Shaw immediately related the orders and moved soldiers in amongst the wounded and in a circle inside the onlookers. Every soldier had his rifle ready. Each was facing out, toward the crowd.
The young soldier that Fletcher had singled out had pulled, pinned, and extended his law, and was pointing it at the wall above the archway. Fletcher tapped him on the opposite shoulder and he fired.
The rocket left a visible red trail as it streaked up into the titanium archway and exploded. Gunfire erupted from the center of the crowd and heroes jumped back into defensive stances while civilians ran for cover. Captain Fletcher held the reciever of his military radio up to his ear. "Close the Inner Atlas Park door. And try again to find the Statesman."
Fletcher put the reciever down as the creature tore through the last of the outer door. The inner door began to close. "Calash and Sol-Ar. Make a note of those names. Good luck, heroes."
Tick-Tok fought his way through the foliage of Perez Park.
"Damn giant monster, I JUST GOT MY ARMOUR WAXED!" Tick-Tok screamed in fury as he blasted in the direction of the enourmous beast.
Vondor was meditating in his chamber when, he heard Silver yell something from the other room. At first he paid no attention to his partner.
Vondor I really think this is important! Silver yelled banging on the door to his room
You do know I am meditating Vondor replied quite terse
Vondor Silver said in a very serious tone I believe it can wait
Knowing that his friend only got serious when there was important goings on in Paragon City, and they threatened its citizens. He removed his thoughts from his meditation and began to put on his costume. He personally hated his attire being called a costume, but he accepted it as a custom on this planet. It consisted of a hood, and a cowl that when looked directly upon gave the illusion that he had no eyes or any facial features of any kind. He wore a skin tight long sleeve shirt; the pattern was one of red camo, and stripes of black. The red dye used on the garment was disturbingly blood red. His hood and cowl also consisted of the same blood red color. Hit pants were baggy with a camo pattern similar to the one on his shirt. Only visible to those who looked was his sheath, holstered in it was a katana from his home world. He got up and opened the door to his almost comic looking friend.
On the other hand his friend (Silver Haze) had a sort of comic look to himself. His jet black spiky hair appeared to be held in place by cement, for it never moved or changed shape. His attire was a different story altogether he wore a pair of black goggles with the center of the eyepieces an odd lime-green tint, making it seem that he had an enormous pair of green eyes. Upon further inspection you could make out the red lines that flowed under the surface of the lenses, happened to be an advanced targeting system of his won creation. He wore a tight fitting white long sleeve shirt with an electron pattern running over it; the sleeves were tucked into his large banned gloves that appeared to be armored. His pants were baggy with the same electron pattern and his boots matched his gloves. Although he preferred not to carry unless necessary he had assault rifle that, It was obviously of his design and had several components that looked quite dangerous. He had it strapped to his back at the moment, with a look of determination on his face.
There is a problem in Atlas Park silver said
Although a problem in Atlas Park was a lady being mugged by some crooks, it was nothing that was necessary to disturb Vondor while he was meditating.
As Silver headed for the door Vondor said Will I get a briefing on the way Captain he responded with the sarcasm obvious.
Silver looked back with a glint in his smile If you can keep up and with that silver jumped out the nearest window, and bounded along his boots absorbing the shock
Vondor followed suit but instead of jumping he began to run at a superhuman speed along side his partner.
As silver filled him in on the events that had happened so far Vondor began to realize hoe big of a deal this was. He had seen the gates in Atlas Park, anything that could even dent those monstrosities was defiantly deserving of their attaetion.
and there are 2 heroes who plan to engage it when it brakes through the gate silver replied. He was distracted by Vondor as he halted in mid stride and his head turned in the direction of a tall sky scraper. He remained trained on that building for the next minute then he shook his head and looked in the direction of the Perez Park gate.
Vondor had been having Deja-Vu many times lately; he kept feeling good and evil energy sources all over Paragon City. He would notice them long enough for him to make a lock but the thought patterns were erratic and as soon as he found them they usually disappeared. He disregarded them as anomalies of the planet, but he always had the feeling that he was being watched
As both of the heroes stood near the entrance to the Perez park gate Silver asked the person who looked in charge Can we be of any help.
He appeared to be surprised by the two heroes sudden and quiet arrival. As the spiky haired gentleman gave a hand to the man to shake, while his partner surveyed the two heroes next to the gate.
Faolon stepped out of an abandoned office building in Perez Park.
"Doesn't Nemesis EVER get tired of those crazy schemes?" He said to himself. "I mean, weather control? Only he could be ballsy enough to take control of the weather."
He reached behind his back into a pouch and pulled out a cell phone.
"Guess I better call Christopher now." He said with a sigh.
As he started searching through the cell's phone book for Maxwell Christopher's phone number a loud noise grabbed his attention. It sounded like a scream.
He looked up just in time to see a blast of some sort shoot out from within Perez Park towards the Atlas Park gate area.
Without hesitation he jumped into the air and began to fly toward the gate.
As he drew closer he could hear someone's voice. They were shouting at someone or some thing.
"...your rampage ends here!" they screamed.
Faolon stopped dead when he got a glance of the, now thrased, gateway.
He turned to his left and saw a hero climbing out of the dense forest. Then turned back towards the doorway and saw the creature that caused the destruction of those massive doors. The sight of it gaved him goosebumps.
"That thing..." He said with his eyes wide open,"That... can't..." The words failed to escape his mouth. He knew that creature was bad news, and he was used to that sort of thing, but something about this thing scared him.
As he hovered down to the ground, he tried to compose himself.
"It can't be allowed to enter Atlas Park." Faolon said to himself.
He looked at the two heroes preparing to do battle with the creature. He knew he had to get their attention and the beast's without distracting the heroes and making them drop their guard.
He looked up at the door as he muttered an enchantment. He knew it was going to be a painful few minutes.
Faolon closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Then opened his eyes as a green glow surrounded his body.
Without a second thought, he flew towards the creature at full speed yelling to the other heroes: "TRY TO LEAD HIM BACK INTO THE..." It was all he was able to say.
The two heroes looked on helplessly as the creature spun around and met Faolon with its fist. It had been anticipating his attack and caught Faolon in the chest with its giant bony fist, shattering Faolon's rib cage and sending him flying backwards; through the great stone wall that surrounded the park area. A few yards after breaking through the wall, he hit the ground and bounced hard, breaking a few more bones as he continued to bounce until finally sliding to a halt.
As Faolon gasped for air and tried to concentrate on healing his wounds, the creature turned to the two heroes blocking its path.
Calash momentarily dropped to one knee and slammed both his hands into the pavement. Grasping at the now shattered roadway he effortlessly lifted a large chunk of dirt, rock, and asphalt over his head.
"Engaging target"
With all his strength he send the massive chunk of rock flying at the beasts head. At the same moment he leapt forward and struck the monster it it's chest at the same moment the heavy rock landed upon it's head. It was a combination of attacks that would level even the strongest of villains.
The creature did not move. The ground beneath it's feet was now cracked from the force of the blow, but it still stood there.
It's mammoth hand quickly wrapped around the cyborgs body and began to squeeze intent upon crushing the armor like a paper bag.
The Creaure had the Cyborg. The Cyborg could feel the power that this creautre, as it slowly squeesed the armored figure seem to enjoy the sound of the crunching of Metal. with the blur of motion from behind the creaure. Another hero had arrived on the sight. The hero was large and well muscled his uniform looked that of the Colors of Great Britten with the White lion on his chest body aromor, Lookgin into the Creaures Eyes "Now mate that is no way to be treating Folks" With a Blow that would level a Small building the Aromered figure land a blow into the Cretures chest. The Creaure takes the blow and does not even move. "Bloody Hell looks like I got your attention didn't I" The Creature drops the Cyborg and craps the Brit hero by the face and picks him up, the creaure then plains him into the pavement. A loud thund and the British hero is laying there knocked out cold. The Creautre the rasies his foot, to place another blow to end the brave souls life.
The creature stomps down on the British Hero... or does he? The instant the creature stomps down, the Hero is gone in a white flash, and creature stomps the solid concrete, leaving large crack in the road.
Mr. Light quickly rejuvenates the British Hero and then leaps away before the Hero knows whats going on...
Sol-Ar decided he had held back long enough in the fight, and planted himself in front of the creature. Releasing all his pent up rage at the creatue, he slammed his right fist into it's face with all the power he could muster, determined to rain blow after blow down on it until it dropped...
Pieces of torn paper, trash and swirls of dust congregated in the corners of the security zone entrance. The door that faced Perez Park was shattered, torn loose at the base where the beast had broken through. Two trails of blood, marked by the creature's steps, led to where it was now grasping a Cyborg and facing another hero.
She could sense the mechanical hero moving this direction through the trees, and several others still in the Park. Some were coming this way, some making for the other exits, hopefully to help mount a defense in other parts of Paragon. The swirling debris passed through her legs and body, only the faintest outline of her cloak could be seen, phase shifted as she was.
Almira kept her gaze averted from the monsters face. One of the Mistresses from years past had told her that gazing into an animals face could allow the animal to feel your presence, and avoiding this beast was her goal. While shifted, she was invulnerable to any force she had yet encountered, but there were always the forces you did not know that had to be considered. A thousand years was still a speck in time, and she learned new things every day.
She felt the suffering from the heroes near the beast, even the bravest could feel pain. With the massive doors closed, she knew that the closest Medical Transporters could not retrieve the fallen, they would lie where scattered. She could resurrect them, but that would also show her presence, and she could not stand against a blow that had levelled the tanks and scrappers.
Her "daughters" would be rallying the forces they could find, centering on Tony's Bar and Grill. Sibling had been found in the loft, and the ancient woman's instructions were explicit: travel by foot from Kings Row to Atlas, gathering any hero or heroine that would come. Should the battle go poorly, harm could not befall City Hall, most especially not the MAGI vaults, where the last possible solution could be used. The last, desperate solution.
Perhaps the twins would find the Diva, Bubbles, or more. From what she saw here, it would take many, and the youngest would not be able to slow the villain long.
Always one near the back of the fight, defenders were the soul of heated battle. Unsung, and often all but invisible, they could turn the tide of battle, but only by keeping the heroes strong and healthy and the villains weakened. Even the Great Old Ones, many times as powerful and old as Almira, could not stand and battle their villainous peers, that was not their place. Their place was clearing the spells of foes, healing the injured heroes and removing unfair advantage from opposing forces.
She moved in silence out of the alcove and into the street, skirting the bodies of Hellions and Bones that had come between the monster and the gate. Several hundred yards further, near the entrance to Skyway City, where she could confirm that the gates there were also shut, she became in phase again and faced the Atlas gate far away. Her left hand began to glow green, the most powerful healing spell she knew pulsing there. The stone wall blurred on her side, superspeed travel gathering, the gate and battle rushed toward her.
The healing aura loosed just as she passed the flagging heroes, already wasting away before the force of the un-named foe. She knew it would give them a momentary respite, but only so much, there was nothing more she could do without endangering herself and her cause.
Her pause was incredibly fast, the bolt flew to the heroes, and she was again phase shifted and running for all her might toward the Skyway exit again. The entrance to the underground tunnels would be her only haven, all the gates were closed. She knew of a way to Steel Canyon, but the trip was long and filled with evil still. News would have to be carried, and she appeared to be the only one.
Sol-ars blows land on target everyone with the force of a moutian. After the first round of blows Sol-ar looks up in the the face mask of the Creaure he can hear is laughing at him. The Creaure pulls back with a full force blow that takes Sol-or off of his feet and sends him flying into the last set of steel doors that are to atlas park. The Bristish Hero that arrived in the spot earlier says to the rest of the heroes present "Good Day Mates this Creaure is a nasty cuse, Name is Big-Ben" .. Ben Ripped on of the steel fence post and looks at the creautre. "Batter Up mate" With Lighting fast speed Ben slams the post in to the side of the creaures head. The Creaure looks at Ben with his full rage. "Bloody Hell this is going ot hurt" after this e words leave his mouth the creature slams his fist into the chest of Big-ben sending him flying into the Titaium Doors leaving to Atlas Park. He has landed right next to Sol-ar. Both of the heroes get up at the same time Blood running form the side of their mouths. as Soon as Ben Stand up he graps his Side and winzes. "Damn Broken Rip" The Creaure focuses in the two heroes that have hit it. It Screams in Rage and moves in for the Kill.
Big-Ben looks over at Sol-ar "Come on mate lets Double team this Little Cuse" Ben moves in and land a series of Blows into the creatrues side. Sol-ar flys in and land a perfectly placed right handed power punch to the creaure. The Creaure is sent flying out the way of the broken doors. as the creaure passes over head Both Tik-Tok and the Cyborg let loose with full force blast this sends the creaure flying into Perez park. They hear a Thund and the lound crash of the creature landing in the thickets of the woods. It lets out a Scream of Rage and hate. and Leaps again at the four heroes that are gathered to defend the Atlas Park opening. On the other side of the gate Capt. Fletcher wounders of the fate of the young heroes
<<Engage Battle Armor>>
Surges of green fire circled the Cyborg as he lay on the broken ground. His normally blue power paths on his armor surged with red power as the energy from the flames fed the nano-repair system. The dented armor quickly flexed back into shape and was altered to a new form.
<<Armor Active.>>
Calash was now in a red and black armored suit. Both his human hand and his robotic hand were now encased in powerful robotic gloves. This was the battle armor he has gotten from Crey, a gift he acquired during his short stay at one of there research facilities. They had helped him heal and upgraded his systems.
The rejuvenated Cyborg retuned to his feet and charged at the back of the creature, striking him with a tremendous force that seemed to cause it to stumble for a moment. As it turned to see what had hit it the ground erupted in flames, engulfing the monster, Calash, and all near by. The heroes only felt a mild warmth even though they stood in the middle of a raging fire, but this was by design. The Rikti Plasma generator that fueled Calashs fire powers could be aligned not to injure specific targets. Only those who were targeted would feel the true heat of the blaze, and only the giant monster was the target.
Captain Fletcher turned toward the com station that was hastily erected at the scene of the incident. "Get me some video from the other side. Security cameras, traffic cameras, something. I need to know what's going on over there. Do we have a patrol in Perez park?"
"No Sir." The com operator didn't turn from his station. More soldiers and police arrived, along with more heroes. Everyone stared at the door, waiting for some indication of how the battle was going on the other side.
Tick-Tok landed down behind the monster.
"Hey big boy!" Tick-Tok said as he started pummeling the monster with electrical blasts.
Sol-Ar shakes his head to clear the last of the cobwebs out from that last blow that had flung him like a rag doll against the titanium doors. He had never been hit that hard in his life, and he was fairly certain that if that blow had landed before his power up inside the Terra Volta Reactor, it would have removed his head from his shoulders. Charging forwards to engage the creature, their bodies slammed together powerfully enough to send a shock wave rippling through the air.
Using all the strength he had, Sol-Ar began to pummel the creature with a lightning fast series of blows, slamming his fists into it's head, throat, chest, stomach, chin, anything his knuckles could connect with. He didn't let up for a second, his stamina and accuracy of blows fueled by his rage and determination. While he was doing this, he felt return blows raining down upon him from the creature, but he couldn't afford to let up for a second to feel the pain.
The two combatants stood toe to toe, slamming blow after blow into one another, shaking the very ground they were battling upon, sending concussion shock waves out into the air surrounding them with each punch that landed, each determined that they would not be the first to give ground or rest...
It was happening again the surges of energies, Light then Dark, then dark and light again. It was overwhelming Vondor he gazed at the Perez park gate only imagining what was causing such a commotion that the entities of light had to intervene at such an astounding rate. This is when he began to chant.
Silver noticed his partner starting to glow from the ancient incantations that he was saying. He would continue to do so till he felt he was adequately protected by the light shield radiating from is body. Silver well knew once his partner was ready he would attack, with or with out him by his side. Silver just waited patiently checking his ammunition and assortment of gadgets.
Vondor finally reached a peak energy level and, slowly drew his katana. The monster still not through the gate had weakened it in many places and ruptured it in several others. As Vondor gained speed on his approach to the gate he planed to vault through a hole in the concrete near the top of the door.
Silver was quick to follow his friend, Vondor was not particular about explaining why he would attack when he did. But most of the time it was ideal or something was happening that could not be ignored.
As they both went through the hole they came to upon battle field of 4 heroes. There was clockwork, a cyborg, a tanker, and an English hero of a sort.
Immediately as Vondor entered the battleground, he sensed them the energies. They were appearing at regular intervals helping and hindering the heroes with no particular order and reason. He tried to cast the entities out of his mind and focus on the battle at hand.
Silver had jumped to a ledge above the battle and was targeting the monstrosity with his goggles. He projected no weak points and immunities to almost any element on earth.
Vondor disregarded the energy for the time being, he figured the problem was the giant monster taking the four heroes with ease. As he ran up to the hulking being he swung his katana in an overhead arch directly onto the things back. The attack that would of easily cleaved even the most armored freakshow in half, reverberated off with a dull thud. The creature turned to him from the fist fight that he was having with the tanker, he prepared to swipe at him. Before his hand made contact a bullet collided with it sending it in the opposite direction. That was all the time Vondor needed he raised his katana and with a sharp movement swung it in an arch that would disembowel the creature. Again the same reverberating thud and this time Vondor tripped on a piece of debris. As the creature prepared to stomp franticly tried to get out of the way
The screen crackled to life and the static riddled image of the battle on the other side played out on the monitor. The sound of impacts on or near the doors rang out in time to the dance witnessed on the other side.
"Hey, heroes, I hope you're ready. I'm not going to just stand by and let those guys die. We're going on the offensive." Captain Fletcher picked up his com handset and said, "Open the doors."
"ALRIGHT EVERYBODY MOOOOOOVE!!" Shaw screamed as he waved his arm frantically at the assembled heroes. He urged them to rally near Captain Fletcher who had picked up his own rifle, lit another cigar, and was walking toward the doors as they opened slowly before him.
When the heroes assembled, Fletcher turned and addressed them. "We're likely only going to get one shot at this, so listen very carefully to what I want you to do. I know everyone thinks they can one on one this thing, but I need you to put aside that ego crap for a second and listen up. If we work together, even a group of low levels can be more powerful than the Statesman and his friends. Now, here's my plan. We don't have time to argue it. So either work with me, or do your own thing, but this is what I had in mind."
Fletcher gave sweeping orders that covered a lot of general areas. Ice powers to be used first, then firepowers, then mind control, not knowing what he had at his disposal. He hammered out the detail while the creature hammered Sol-Ar and vice versa. Then he turned toward the open doors.
"Engage your target." He spat the words out with contempt.
Sol-Ar flashed from the lake, sending water splattering outwards as he roared towards the creature preparing to stomp out the life of a katana wielding hero who had probably saved his life by distracting the creature for a vital moment he needed to reorganize himself. He wasn't sure what was going on around here, but all he knew he had to concentrate on was stopping this thing.
With a monumental two fisted blow, he crashed his knuckles into the thing's spine, only managing to make it turn it's attention back to him and away from the fallen hero, but that was enough for now. He was glad to know he was able to return the favor for the sword wielder, but kept his focus on the task at hand: Stopping this thing.
Planting his feet solidly before his foe, he silently vowed to himself that the thing wasn't going to move him again, not until one of them was down. He was doing his job as a tank, drawing all the creatures rage and attention to himself, giving the others the opportunity they needed to gather their forces and strike. Realizing this was probably the last fight of his life, he let loose with everything he had, crashing blows upon his opponent that would have shattered small buildings easily, doing everything he could to keep the creature focused on him, and trying to stop it at the same time.
Judging by the expression on the thing's face, he was at least succeeding in annoying it, as it kept roaring loudly in his face and continued to meet him punch for punch in the middle of the park, the force of their blows causing the trees around them to break and topple over, creating an epicenter in the destruction that was easy to see from the air...
"Pour is on mate" Big -Ben begins to join in with Sol-ar blow for blow with the creaure. Tik-tok blast it with electrical energy. And the Cyborg focus its Fire energy on the creature. A live video feed is established on Video camera on the enterence to Perez park the Same enterece that is a cross the street looking at the gate. Cap. Fletcher and those present can see the battle the air around them is blinded with the Sera power that is being displayed the electrical and fire energy is arching across the creaures body. The video feed is blured by the shockwaves that Sol-ar, Big-Ben and the Creaure are exchanging. the fuzzy images shows the creature raising up both fists and planting them in the ground around him So powerul is the blow that it sends Ben, Sol-ar, Tik-tok and the Cyborg flying back away form the creauture. The Door to Atlas Park is also rocked by the force of the blow it knocking over some of the police nearest the Gate. When the Smoke clears the 4 heroes are laying in the ground knocked out cold. As Cap. Fletcher is about the give the order to open the door top get the heroes out, he can see that the Statesman and Ms. Liberty have arrived. Once the doors were open it was easy to seen the path of destruction that led into the park proper. The Statesman and Ms. Liberty led the charge into the park, instantly bolstering the spirits of the younger heroes. Captain Fletcher did his best to keep the formations tight and prep everyone to follow one battle plan that he was sure he could make up as the Statesman and Ms. Liberty went to work.
A ladder of flying heroes formed above the creature as the battle raged. The creature would break away from the Statesman and Ms. Liberty and the others battling it to be frozen solid in a block of ice instantly summoned by ten heroes, then break free to be fried by ten more, then mentally scrambled by ten more, until the Statesman, Ms. Liberty and the others could re-engage.
Then Captain Fletcher shouted out to the statesman as he reeled from a powerful punch. The Statesman looked over as Captain Fletcher gave a gesture intended to get the Statesman to throw the creature into the air. He quickly coordinated with Ms. Liberty and she took the legs out from underneath the creature while it grappled with a powerful hero.
Then the Statesman grabbed ahold of it from behind and pulled its arms back shouting, "let go of it."
Everyone complied as he hurled it into the air. Several heroes effected the gravity around the creature, making it weigh only a fraction of its regular weight, and heroes began grabbing it and throwing it, higher and higher to the next hero.
Up and up the creature went, until heroes and creature were too far away to see.
Almira emerged from the underground network, somewhere near an abandoned warehouse in Skyway. She was tired, but unscathed by the trip, maintaining her phase shift and using invisibility when possible.
She had seen the goings on, and understood what was afoot. Skipping from bridge to bridge, she used speed and stealth to reach the tram line, then on to Atlas and those that would listen to her words.
The gods were playing games, using beings that had neither morals or care. There would be no winners, or losers, simply a story that would go on and on, on
Tick-Tok shot off his powered blast. He watched as a small chunk of the creatures arm off.
"Thank-you..." Tick-Tok said into the nothingness that was presenting itself before him.e invincible force versus the other.
Her destination was a small bar just across from Atlas City Hall.
