  1. Title gives the tl/dr.

So, having fun with the guy so far. Siphon Speed is doubleplusgood, Siphon Power helps with the bang-bang, Empty Clips might be my favorite attack on any character I've played so far. Couple of questions to maximize my supportiness:

Is Swap Ammo a good bet? Seems like you could add a lot of debuffy support by swapping to Toxic and leaving it there.

How do I slot support powers effectively? Right now I'm dropping two Accuracy into each and focusing on my attacks because I have no idea if I should be doing something else. I've checked the guides for Kinetics, and not a mention of IOs.

Is it intended that I have to put my guns away every time I use a Kinetics power? Really awkward. This isn't a big deal, the redraw hasn't cost me anything yet, just annoying as crap!

I'd like pool suggestions. I'm thinking, Leadership to maximize my supportyness, Fitness 'cause it's Fitness, maybe Soul Mastery 'cause it looks entertaining on paper, and that's about all I've figured out. Maybe a travel power or Concealment for concept, but not really necessary. Could go for perma-hasten, but again wondering how helpful it would be.

What are the really skippable powers of each set? Right now I'm thinking I want everything from Dual Pistols, and that can't be quite right. For Kinetics, I'm thinking of skipping Repel and Inertial Reduction.

Thanks for reading, and preemptive thanks for any advice. Feel free to just answer bits and pieces if that's what you'd like to do, any input is appreciated.

No, but you need them if you want the badges and temp powers. It's part of the overall experience you're guided to.

So... what's the problem with merits in Praetoria then?
  4. Well, futz. I started playing the market because I wanted to have enough Inf at level 22 to do a frankenslot build, something "cheap" that would make me kick **** on the way to 50. 600M Inf later, I'm level 20. Maybe I need to reevalutate my plans.
  5. I'd love to know what a "proper" build is, too. I'm having fits trying to figure out what to buy for my EM/WP/Mu Scrapper.
  6. Um. I think he was choosing an impossibly high number to illustrate why there will still be demand for these recipes on the market. He was pointing out to the poster above him how much of a time investment is involved with trying to generate 3 alignment merits every 2 days with 3 characters.

If you have to spend 2.5 hours running TFs for 50 merits and an hour on average on tips / morality missions, ever day, every character, and assuming you're going to make 60M a day doing that content without spending any merits, then you're putting in 2 hours 20 minutes per Alignment Merit. You're talking about playing 10 hours a day at 20 merits per hour, even assuming everything else is fast.

Point is, there is "impatience" and there is "efficiency." If you're going to put 70 hours a week into this game, you're better off buying it on the market.
  7. I'm wondering if I'll actually come up any shorter than I did with getting my Hero to 20. With my Praetorian, every single mission is part of an Arc that eventually awards Merits. With my Hero, there were radio missions and safeguard missions to do, and bridging missions between the arcs to find the next arc. Also, none of the first missions until I was sent to the Hollows was an arc that awarded merits.

I'll be interested to see how many Merits my Praetorian has at level 20. Right now, my Hero at 20 has 34 Merits, and my Praetorian at 8 has 6 Merits.
  8. Is the Complete Collection only available in the US?

*EDIT* nevermind. You can get the Complete Collection online from NCSoft here

    https://secure.ncsoft.com/cgi-bin/Store.pl?view=212

No sale price, but still has the month's playtime and the item pack. If you think of it in piecemeal terms, you're getting the expansion content and item pack for EUR 17,00 when you deduct the cost of a month's playtime. It's worth it.
  9. The market prices will adapt to the new supply. The only reason the prices were so high before is because there was a large demand and a very limited supply. You dump a bunch of new ways to get things into the game, and prices drop as the new supply trickles in. The effect is already visible on a number of items.

No. You can do Tip Missions without GR, but you cannot do Morality Missions, which are what give the Alignment Merits.

I'd really suggest buying the Going Rogue Complete Collection. You can get it from Best Buy on sale right now, and it includes a month of game time. You end up getting all of the expansion content plus some neat costumes and aura for not much more than the price of a month's play.

I'd put them in about that order, but that's very rough.
I'm totally stealing this for my thread.
  12. Sorry for the late post, I'm juggling format now that I'm tracking 2 characters. Also, when it came time to put this up, I was drunk.

Would 3 columns be better? It'd certainly fit my monitor, but can't be sure about everyone.

    Grand total: 683M liquid inf.

LOTS of Mako's Bite. Too much. New rule: never invest more than 10 at a time into any one set. Ended up selling a bunch at-cost and others at a lost, both from a typo while buying salvage (15M is not just like 1.5M) and from plain overkill.

Still managed to profit by about 100M, and still have a few more enhancements to sell.
  13. I'm going to suggest some reading for you. One thread is self-promotion, but the other two are from the godlike Fury Flechette.

A simple illustrated guide to make inf
A Market Journal: From 0 to 1 billion in 7 days
Tips and Tricks from a newby: A market blog

Take the general advice from those threads and you'll be well on your way. I've gone from a level 1 character with nothing, fresh account, to over 600M in... 12 days now using the advice in these threads.

Nah, they called in sick the past 9 months.
  15. Yes, every sever has the same market, whether you are on Virtue Blueside, Justice Redside, or Freedom... Greyside? you'll see the same market interface.
  16. No, you're in your right to hate the game. However, you can hate it while still learning it and beating it at it's own rules.
  17. Someone accidentally bid 15M on 5 Rikti Alloys too.

    Wait, that was me. Crap.

Thanks for being cool maggotface :-D
  18. See, that makes me feel better. Even if it tanks and I get 1/4 back what I put in, I'm only out 150M. It's all relative. 150M seems like a lot when it's 25% of your total capital.

    We're popular!

I'm playing a feline humanoid type as a Praetorian, and so far have gotten nothing but good results from RP'ing. I'm pretty much "THE TARGET" as far as the greater interwebs are concerned, so I think there aren't really that many bad apples.

Let's pick a different definition of "new" I do agree, though. I find a lot of people seem to think the market is some scary, arcane mumbo-jumbo that they'll never understand.

I do think I might have lost my shirt today, though. We'll see what the evening brings.

Yeah, I agree with DumpleBerry. My MMO gaming has become much more pleasant since I developed a hair-trigger Ignore reflex.
  22. I am probably the laziest marketeer in the world. If I can make a quarter billion in 11 days from nothing, anyone can.

I just realized that someone is finding this thread useful. Yay! Mission accomplished! *puts on cowboy hat and takes 4 month vacation*

You then bid on anything else desirable and then farm for purples at +2/x8 on occasion. That's how I do it if I'm looking to cap a character's inf in a short amount of time.
My point is, with 20 being my highest level character, I don't have access to that source of income. Marketing is the only thing I can rely on at all. I think I could get my daily profits up if I were able to spend an hour a day nabbing AE tickets and rolling for recipes that people want. The guy is EM/WP, he should be able to farm fairly well.

Heh, the number is only going to go higher. Alt-itis has struck and I'm focusing on a Kinetics / Dual Pistols Defender now. That means more Market slots to play with, too, which should help increase daily profits.

So, I got sick of the time I was spending every time I did a bunch of purchasing. Adding up the cost of the recipe, all the salvage, crafting price, and then calculating the "break even" and "profit" points was just a pain. I put it all together in a spreadsheet, and now I'm sharing that with you folks.

    Check it out here:
    Google Documents Link

You'll need to download it by going to "File -> Download As". If anyone has a better way to share a spreadsheet, please tell me.

Column titles should be self explanatory. You can use it for flipping by entering the total cost under the "recipe" heading. It has really sped up my crafting process and gives me the confidence to attempt flipping for profit.
  24. Argh. Never drink and market. Just typo'd away 80M. Has a sad now >.<

In that case, objection withdrawn. Plenty of interesting tension and potential conflict involved in the idea. Go for it, have fun. Heck, we've all probably done it without realizing it. A lot of what people consider "normal" reactions to unfortunate events are actually more serious than they think.
