Well, it does give an AT. However, if I type [dark embrace] on my blaster, it says "as used by level 27 Blaster". That, of course, can't be correct.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It usually defaults to the AT you are currently using.

If you click on the AT name, it brings up a menu to let you select any other AT you want to view the stats for... regardless if that power is currently available to that AT or not.

OK, I see that now. Knew it was probably staring me in the face. Thanks, Mateo.

  3. OK, here's an odd question. Maybe I'm overlooking something obvious but this occurred to me today. When you "link" a power in the chat box (i.e. bracket the power name text) to bring up info on it, how do you know what values you're looking at? I mean, several powers are used by at least a couple of ATs. How do I know if I'm looking at values for scrapper or tank, blaster or defender, defender or controller, etc.?

I'm pretty sure the values are different for each AT. Somebody please tell me what I'm missing.

Have any of you had a power combination that you just found to be so exciting, you didnt want to stop playing it? Something that was just so powerful, or maybe just so all around fun that you loved playing as it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've got several 50s. Some were really fun, some were more like projects. The ones I really liked and still play often are:

Ill/Rad controller. Very powerful, great soloer.
Fire/Fire tank. Started slow but couldn't put him down starting in the 30s.
    Dark/Dark/Dark defender. Safest toon ever.
Warshade. Again, started off slow but loads of fun after 30 or so.

Of course, everyone's idea of fun is different.

I like Forcefields/Psy for the psychic scream/psi tornado/repulsion bomb trifecta. All AoE, two knockdowns, they hardly have a chance to fire back if their powers ever recharge.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Agreed. LOVING my FF/Psi. Aoe KD, Psi Scream, Aoe KD, Psi Scream. Rinse and Repeat.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Another vote for FF/Psi. I like to hover above the battle using the AOE attacks. All the baddies are on their butts and I can still keep my teammates safely in dispersion bubble (aka The Mothership).

Honestly, I figured it would happen if I got reported, but I didn't mean it to be malicious or anything, so I rolled the dice.

I lost. I logged in last night to find the insect-themed villainess formerly known as Bee-yotch...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I would have rolled the dice too if I'd thought of that one. Sorry you got generic'd. As everyone else said, I can't see why you wouldn't be able to purchase a rename token.

I suppose "Beetch" would probably get the ax as well...
  7. Thanks, guys. That's exactly what I needed to know. I was hoping it would get better with more powers slotted for endurance mod. Sounds like that won't be the case, so I'll be starting the fitness pool next level.

  9. I've got a level 16 blaster and I was thinking about going without the fitness pool. (This was the very first toon I made almost 4 years ago. I'm finally getting back to it.) I was planning on doing a sapper build for the soft control. Several of the secondary power descriptions say some endurance may be returned to me but I'm not sure it's enough to live on until I get Power Sink. Heck, I'm not even sure PS is enough to live on.

All the guides I looked at included Stamina. I don't want the character to be too painful to play or it will end up getting shelved again. Anyone have experience with this?
  10. OK, can't resist posting. This is our Hershey as a puppy. He's almost a year old now and still full of fun.

What would you rather talk about? What is wrong with talking about an MMO as opposed to say the depressing news of the world?

Hey, you're from Austin! That's where this happened! Were you eating at Freebird's last night??

I saw some players grouped below us, I flew down and asked them twice where the science store was before I noticed they were level 36 Council.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I just spit soda on my keyboard.

CoH is the only MMO I've ever played and I spent the first 18 levels solo (FPS habits die hard). When I finally got on a team for the first time, everyone was at the mish and I'm all "Hey, where are you guys?" Had not a clue how to find them.

Luckily, the leader was very patient and pointed me in the right direction. Once there, I asked for constructive criticism about teaming and everyone was very helpful. The way newbies are treated really can make or break the game for them.
  14. Excellent information but I'd like to stress one really important aspect of character naming: Check your spelling! I don't know how many times I've seen toons with misspelled names. I'm not talking about deliberately misspelling it to get around the name already being taken. I'm talking about people just plain getting it wrong. (I won't mention any names here.) Makes me wonder how on earth they got to level 28 without noticing.

I was in Atlas a week ago with my PB and a level 1 sent out a broadcast asking if their name was spelled right (it was). That just made my day.

  15. Great post! Now I know my scrapper is of the feral variety. And thank you for pointing out the annoyance caused by others hitting my targets. It is so irritating to have the boss knocked away from me by a well-meaning blaster when I clearly have the situation in hand. I finally got housebroken enough to make a button for "target nearest enemy" instead of chasing my prey all over the room and now leave the chasing to those with ranged attacks...mostly.
