given that you can level to 50 in about 4 hours if you really want to, how is doubling that to 8 hours going to make much difference?
-
You pick an AT and pick your powersets. Then you can have 2 builds with different powers, slots, and enhancements.
Imagine if you could choose different powersets within the AT or even choose a different AT
I know some RPers just make alts and pretend they are all the same character using different tactics, equipment, etc.
The main functional benefit I could see would be for badgers who want to have 1 character do everything.
How valuable would this be to you - would you even care? If it were on the market how many PP would you pay to be able to do this. You can answer per character, or to unlock it for all characters.
I think I would do this. I love teaming and play tankers, controllers, etc so they work well on a team. But a solo tanker is a waste. I would love to be able to switch between a tanker and a brute depending on teaming vs soloing.
I would pay 800 points to unlock an alternate build with a different AT on all characters. -
the correct fix to buffs and everything else is to make them multiplicative instead of additive and still have caps.
imagine tough gives 10% damage resistance
if you are a blaster that means it reduces the damage you take by 10%
if you are a tanker at 80% res already it reduces the damage you take by 50%
So tough has to have effects so low it doesn't really help a blaster but even that low can make a huge difference on a tanker.
This affects tanker powers as well. Inherents are really weak, because they add.
Toggle 50% res + inherent 25% res gives you 75% resistance
if they didn't add you could have inherent 50% and toggle 50%, used together you would get 75%. But if you did not need that much protection you could use the inherent only with no END cost.
Basically the current system forces them to make a lot of powers that are individually almost worthless but together overpowered. Making them multiplicative instead (and still capped) would let you make a bunch of useful powers individually that would have the same effect when stacked.
It does not matter so much what the maximum is - it matters what the difference is between maxed out characters and normal characters. If every character had res 98% except tankers had 99% that is easy to deal with - multiply damage by 100. But when everyone else has def 2% and the elite has def 45% you cannot make that adjustment.
That was what ED was for - not reducing overall performance, but reducing the gap between the extremely powerful and the mundane. -
I would like to see a defenders movie with a good mix - Dr Strange, Gargoyle, Valkyrie, Hellcat, Hellstrom
I really, really want to see a micronauts movie. -

Quote:it's terrible. It's so bad that xkcd provides the link to do so right below the comicIt's even worse form because 1) he's hotlinking the image from the site instead of hosting it elsewhere and 2) xkcd is not that funny.
Image URL (for hotlinking/embedding): http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/argument_victory.png
although I did just note that on the page about licensing they say to link back to xkcd if possible -
I think this should be a new meme on the boards for so many arguments

Quote:they decided to cater to people who like mental rather than cater to the people who do not like it.I couldn't agree more with this. It's amazing that they have decided to cater to munchkin builds that need a customized play setting to work while ignoring the people that took mental to round out their ranged aoes, or for the immob or any of its other features.
you can use disparaging terms like munchkin to try and dehumanize other players to help you feel like they are not important, but that just shows the weakness of your position. -
Quote:it makes no sense to make the whole game more challenging when not everyone wants a greater challenge.I don't think the complaint is really that its challenging.
Its that it is not CONSISTENT.
When I can have a reasonably-challenging encounter in 90% of the game at a certain difficulty level, then run into a part of the game that's dramatically different, it's annoying.
I'd much rather they do a global nerf to keep the whole game challenging than have inconsistently-applied design that just makes newer content more challenging.
it makes sense to have differentiated content - that way players can choose. -
Quote:blasters, brutes, tankers, and scrappers will never be as good on teams as controllers, defenders, corruptors, and SOA's. Yet people still play them.Remember you felt that way the next time you join a league and its 90% tanks, scrappers and brutes. It's really important in any game that you have similar levels of effectiveness amongst the pieces. Otherwise what you see are masses of a few particular pieces.
the game does a good job of concealing how lame most AT's are on teams and how amazing others are, so people think that their scrapper is helping a team a lot.
The place it really matters is soloing where you have no one to carry you. -
Quote:This, and PraetoriaHave you played through Night Ward? Lots of new mechanics flying around and they can be sorta challenging.
The devs made Praetoria and made the game more challenging. The players immediately whined that they did not want it to be challenging.
The devs made Night Ward and made it more challenging. The players immediately whined that they did not want it to be challenging.
There are players who actually like a challenge and like Praetoria and Night Ward.
Then there are players who want it to be easy but with more rewards, so they say they want the difficulty increased, but they really just mean they want the rewards increased. -

so maybe about half of the characters in comics are named something directly related to their powersets. -
Quote:if your build lives or dies by 2 enhancements, they were clearly overpoweredIn all honesty the change to Lockdown means that my Proc will drop to around 60% fire rate, at which point I have wasted 3 dollars on an enhancement that is actually worse than the enhancement I replaced it with (A Level 30 Lockdown Proc). And I can't even use the Devastation proc without needing to retool my ENTIRE build. Between this, the change to the Stalker Stealth Proc, and the new Proc being utterly worthless, I'm basically 50/50 on whether I'm going to keep my character or not.

council doesn't drain END
but really I think they should do them in level order. That way by the time players get to the sucky ones they already like the game -
I don't understand why more companies do not produce content for people who are not willing to pay anything for it.

Quote:It would be great if the blue GM's were triggerable.GMs Redside
All of them are triggerable: most by killing a certain number of mobs (in Caleb's case, only during a certain timeframe).
put coralax in the water in PI and defeat enough to summon Lusca
defeat hydra in PP to summon kraken
defeat firbolg and tuatha to summon Jack and Eochai
defeat DE in Crey's Folly to summon Jurassik
defeat clockwork to summon Paladin
then teams that wanted to hunt them could do so -
We have the summer blockbuster. We assume it will end. Lots of people play it.
We had the Nemesis invasion and they were pretty active.
But we also have occassional rikti invasions, banner events, GM's appearing, etc. And it seems that those events get ignored.
Do we just have too many random things so that they have no real importance? Are they just inconvenient?
I don't run to them because I know solo they can't be done. If I don't hear teams forming, I just assume they will be ignored. That's a vicious circle, I know.
Adamaster seems a good idea - you can summon him and then defeat him. We got a team together to do it, then afterwards wanted to hunt other GM's. But none were out. That's the problem with random events - when you want to do them, you can't. When they show up they aren't convenient.
So do you participate and if so how often - in random events?
Should they be triggerable?
Should they have a big enough reward that makes people want to do them?
Should they be in selected zones so that people actually see them and care?
Should they happen less often so that they are more special? -

Quote:play levels 4-24 and you will be challenged if you set the difficulty upMy wife and I used to play CoH every night together, but she stopped some time back, owing to various other commitments. She recently started playing again and one of the first things she asked me was why they made the game so easy. She was lamenting the days where we had to use strategy to win battles. I'm not sure how long she will stick around now, because she doesn't feel challenged.
the end game is a joke, but the lower levels are still challenging -
I'm going with the guy in Atlas who is having his brother killed to steal his organs to become a Vahz.
