Quote:Ok. Thank you everyone. I was afraid this might be the case. No biggie, it will be three clicks instead of one.Ok, this will toggle off dark nova instantly. After that, it gets fuzzy. It will go to tray 1, then queue up hasten, then queue up Dark Nova, then go to tray 9 all so fast that the only thing that will happen is that you go into Nova form and end up on tray 9. The queuing up of hasten doesn't actually happen.
This will toggle off Nova, then toggle on Nova. Just like the last one, except without the tray swapping.
Can't be done. The bind/macro system is built to avoid people being able to automate their play experience, and as such, you can only activate one power in one bind. It always activates the last power in the bind because the speed it goes through the macro. "Queue up three attacks in a row, but the first two were hit so quickly that they didn't actually have time to queue up."
FYI yes this was only until I get the Dwarf (which at the pace I'm lvling right now might be a while). -

will this work?
bind x "powexec_toggle_off Dark Nova$$goto_tray 1$$powexecname
Hasten$$powexec_toggle_on Dark Nova$$goto_tray 9"
or
bind x "powexec_toggle_off Dark Nova$$powexecname
Hasten$$powexec_toggle_on Dark Nova" even if Hasten does not exist on tray 9.
basically I want to come out of Nova only to hit Hasten and go right back into Nova.
Will either of the above binds work? Is there a better way? Is this even possible with a single button push?

Obviously I don't know exactly what the numbers are. I only say half because general searches at random times and many different days on both Virtue and Freedom are yielding me half as many searches. Number of people at WW is half what it used to be.
I am very aware that the servers have been upgraded on several occasions to accomdate more players, but I would doubt that has happened SINCE the PL change thing.
Now the high unemployment rate and the fact that several new MMOs have recently come out are definitely contributing factors. thanks for that. -
Quote:Don't get me wrong, I'm not a CoH hater, I love CoH. That's why I'm so concerned for it. Running for almost six years now, CoH is pretty dated. It's graphics aren't that great ( But we're hoping Going Rogue fixes that ), it's engine is dated and it's combat may be a little dated as well.. I also notice many of the servers ( Guardian for instance ) are nearly dead ( Almost empty ) and the most populated servers don't seem to have that many people on them in the great scheme of things.
Recently I had read that CoH released their subscriber numbers for 2009 and it rounded nearly 130,000 people ( Not quite reaching 130,000 - Something more like in the 128's or something, I think. ) and I notice quite a lot of talk.. Well, everywhere.. From CoH players, haters and lovers alike.. Frankly I'm worried for the game..
It'd be nice if NCSoft staff could answer this, but I don't hold my breath for that.. My question is.. How much is actually riding on the release of Going Rogue being successful? If it's unsuccessful, is that it? Are we looking at dealing with another Dungeon Runner or Tabula Rasa?I hope the game will be okay, but.. At the moment from looking at subscription numbers, discussion and the facts.. It looks kind of grim.
There is another important thing to remember that I don't think anyone has brought up (I didn't read all responses), is that the game is still making tons of money. Whether you believe 100K subs is a lot or nothing is honestly not as important, to a game that has already paid back what it cost to develop, as how much cash flows in regularly. The ninja pack is selling great, and the magic pack before that sold great and the magic pack before that sold great. All those thousands and thousands of ten dollars for booster packs that are very quick and easy to develop help the longevity of the game a lot. -
Quote:I've seen nothing to indicate a 'population collapse.' I doubt such a thing happened. I have noticed a decrease in broadcast spam, but that is hardly proof of a population change. In all other aspects the game seems as busy, or busier, than it has in a long while.
Last I heard, subscriptions were about level. But, people may be on a little less, or for shorter periods, with the holidays. People get fairly busy this time of year.
Clearly you are mistaken. Since the change to SK/team lvl/cannot be five levels below the starman change, the population is half what it used to be. Maybe less than half. I know a lot of people are hidden, but a search now yields half (or less than half) as many players as it did before the change. Assuming that the same percentage of people are hidden this means the pop has halved. Talking to people has given me the impression that fewer people are hidden than before because they were hiding from tells to PL. Now they can unhide. A general search on Virtue, prime time on saturday night, last two weekends has yielded a pop of 550-650, used to be 990-1100 in the past. Also, I have not seen ANY server go two dots (moderate load) at any time any day since the change. Even if you put aside all that, all you have to do is fly around and look at the city, it is deserted. WW in Talos primetime on saturday night this past weekend had about ten people total ! Used to be about 20-25. Stand under atlas for a few minutes and watch the new characters appearing, less than half as many.
I was just curious if the population collapse was solely due to the no PL thing, or were some of the other changes to the game a contributing factor ?? It would seem to me that that is the only reason it could be, but I'm out of the loop a little because I only play about 5 hours a week nowadays and I solo a lot. Power colorization couldn't have driven anyone away, could it? I mean if you dont like it, just dont change your colors, although honestly I teamed with someone who had bright yellow colors for all their powers and I had to quit (just too annoying) and then I've seen a lot of blue fire (stupid IMO).
Maybe Aett-Thorn has some insights??
Aett-Thorn ??

Quote:Is the recent population collapse only because you can no longer PL, or are there other subtler contributing factors. I know PLing was big, but was it really half the population???Freedom and Virtue are the two servers with the highest populations. So you might want to check those out. However, depending on your play time, they might not be the best option.
However, if all you're looking to do is PL and then play top-end content, you're probably going to be disappointed anyways, IMO. -
I would go with the controller as well. A lot of the badges are a pain and very time consuming to do solo. I know my main is a badger (still not in the 600+ club) and when I was badging I spent long periods of time not doing anything else. I have never played a ill/ but I have played a /rad controller and I suppose an ill/rad would be good at badging. It also depends on which badges you intend to go for. If you are looking at all, all the badges, remember the Ouroborous badges can be tough. I have all the O badges on an Ice/Ice blaster and some of them on a tanker. The player debuff mishes and the no enhancements mishes are challenging, personally I would not even consider bringing a defender to those. In hindsight though the O badges were by far the most fun to attain.

Wow. It is nice to see people are really cranking it up. I hope within the next few levels my two MMs can both crank it up like you guys have. I see a lot of people are doing +0/+5 +0/+6 etc. That is the opposite of the way I've been going. I think I will try that again. My MMs were around 30-32 when I ran +0/+4, so I have a lot better slottage now. I really like the idea of +0/+8 for purple drops, I hadn't thought about that. Maybe that will get me interested in the market again.

I was just curious what difficulty settings people are using with their MMs. In general any MM, any lvl, team or solo and then as a separate question which difficulties are being used with a late thirties Robots/ or Necromancy/ solo?
I have a lvl 39 Robots/Traps and a lvl 37 Necro/Dark that have both had the last few weeks off due to halloween and they will be back on in a few days. I play solo most of the time and I want to know what everyone else is doing. I want to make good xp per hour, but more importantly I want to have fun. When the difficulty changes were made I thought the it would be great to play at +0 +4pl, but I actually found that quite difficult. More so than +2 +0pl. My Robots/ MM is on +2 +2pl atm, however, honestly I have to diff down against Arachnos and Longbow. My Necro is at +2 +1pl and of'course some opponents are easy some are perfect. I have Assault and Tactics on all my MMs and capped Acc on all attacks so hitting +2s is never a problem. I have no set bonuses.
Ramble on. -
Holy Crap !!! Nice work. I think that took you more than five minutes.

To the OP, I am a little surprised by your post. I love playing my MMs and I have never had the issues you describe. In fact my only problem with playing MMs is that it is so easy sometimes I'm a little bored.
Learn to get out of bodyguard mode sometimes. If you want a great pull, put yourself just out of LoS, put your robots behind you out of LoS and hit passive, then peek around the corner and range shoot something (anything not in the center of the mob) and run backwards (it doesnt matter if u miss or not) wait two seconds and hit all attack, wait one second and hit all aggressive (just in case u get stunned). Half the mob will be dead before u take a second hit.
You have to watch your pets obviously. Most people love bodyguard mode all the time, if u do then use it, stand in the middle of a mob in bg and hit immobilize on whatever you want dead repeatedly, no immob?, use air superiority repeatedly (great power). If it still manages to run (rarely) just hit nearest target all attack and let it run away, it will come back after everything else is dead.
Most people love bg mode all the time, I get into all aggressive a lot. You have to watch your pets. I just run around in all aggressive if I see something tough I hit all attack and back pedal, wait 2 seconds, if they look ok, run in and hit a heal, if it looks bad fast, keep back pedaling. If I see the pets run away just hit all passive, some will trot back to you, hit bg and respawn whats dead.
I am not the greatest player in the world and I rarely die with my MMs, even early levels. Honestly you have to go out of your way to die as an MM.
Some basics to remember, that are obvious, that you know, just to keep fresh in your mind ALL the time.
Always All Attack one target at a time, i dont care if there are fifteen minions tickling your feet, if there is one Lt still in the group kill it first. Then All Attack the first minion, etc. etc. If you divide your pets damage by even two enemies nothing will ever die.
A good immob is priceless. Use Air Superiority if your secondary has no low lvl immob.
Air Superiority is for everyone even if you hate flying.
You must heal your pets. A lot. Even if you hate it and its boring get into the habit. Take Heal other if you have even a little trouble keeping your pets healthy. If other players tease you about needing two heals ask them to show you their debt badges because you dont know what they look like and never heal them.
Goodluck and have fun with the set. -
nvm i found it on paragonwiki (was looking in the wrong spot before)

Do you get merit rewards for running full story arcs through Ouroboros ?

Sorry back view only. -
Where in the World is Snowcone Freeze ?
Snowcone Freeze will log in at 10PM (EST) on Saturday October 31, Halloween, and will remain in that spot until someone stands directly in front of her and says "Where is Snowcone Freeze? Right Here!". That character will win one "Black Blood of the Earth" salvage piece.
Snowcone Freeze is a lvl 50 Blaster on Virtue.
Saturday October 31, Halloween 10PM (EST) log in time.
Snowcone Freeze will not be hidden.
Find her first and identify her with the above phrase and win one
"Black Blood of the Earth".
Snowcone Freeze will then offer the winner assistance with one mission.
Snowcone Freeze will not be in her Halloween costume.
Good Luck. Have fun finding me. Happy Halloween.
Snowcone Freeze will change her comment to identify the game is over after the salvage is awarded. -
Quote:Passive mode is correct. Seeker Drones are pets, when they blow up they are technically taking damage (they lose all their hp), so in bodyguard mode = you've been attacked !Seekers are pets, so if they're attacked any Henchmen on Aggressive or Defensive will attack their attackers.
At least I'm pretty sure that's how it works. If you want your bots not to aggro have them on Passive until the alpha happens and then switch to Defensive before the mobs round the corner.
Carnifax is right. -
IMO you do not need provoke. If you are going to duo with a MM and your companion doesn't want to take damage; all they have to do is stay behind the robots and wait 2 seconds to attack after the robots start. MM's on small teams never need provoke, their robots do so much damage they become aggro magnets. Even on the very rare occasion the companion does take damage YOU HAVE HEAL OTHER!

There are a lot of threads on this already so a search will do you well. However, just a few thoughts, from me (my Robots/Traps is lvl 38 and soloed 90% of it). You want as much recharge on acid mortar as you can possibly get, it is a great power and you should drop it on every mob. Take Assault and Tactics much earlier in your career. You can take poison trap and seeker drones much later, you will not need them early on. Personally I hate caltrops, but there is nothing wrong with the power its just a personal pet peeve, honestly your robots will not care if the enemy runs away slowly or quickly, everything dies so fast with this build I feel caltrops is a waste of time. Do not take repair, Heal other is better, much better and take it much earlier. I personally do not like maneuvers but you mentioned you want to be soft capped so it makes sense. You will not need challenge at all. Drop challenge, you can taunt your enemies into the caltrops, poison trap, whatever easily without challenge, the zinger is a good set, but I don't think its worth it. Take heal self it is a great power (two recharge, one interrupt early and add three heal later in your career). At lvl 38 I run my Robots/Traps on +2lvl for 2players and I have no set bonuses, this is the true Heavy of the game.

difficulty five. I can clear the bank job by setting it to one. Will that then unlock the contacts? Is there any other way to unlock them? I find the bank jobs very stupid and boring, I only ever run them if i'm on a team that wants to.
-
I am trying to unlock Hard Case HardLuck and Viv Verandi through the broker, but the broker is being uncooperative. Do I need to complete the rob bank mish to unlock the contacts? Is there any way to get the contacts without running the safeguard and having thousands of Longbow kill me repeatedly?

They'll probably come up with unique demons for the set.

I hope so, but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't...
