Yep, st martial is a good place for sorceror hunting I usually stick to the SE part of the map unless I see someone else hunting the same mobs.

Agreed, solo-ing any dom is slow before getting a pet. You learn to be cautious and take bite size chunks of mobs, learning exactly what their aggro radius is. You hold one at a time and beat them repeatedly till they're down...(or aoe, beat and run). Progress is slow and steady, but the hold is also a safety net, giving you time to run if you're losing.
When pets come along, tactics change. Let them soak up the aggro whilst you aid them with holds, and pummel out your key damage attacks before you need to fire off more holds. With fully slotted pets, you can do missions, larger mobs and higher bosses much faster, as long as you know your limitations, and vary tactics according to your opponents strengths/weaknesses. Now I usually only take debt when teaming, or meeting an opponent whose powers are unknown (such as AVs, EB or higher level mobs).

In I7, domination builds faster in PvE. Apparently.

You dont even need to wait in the mission. I ran it for some peeps and they just popped onto the map and straight back out again and it was awarded when they exited

Ive still got shrouded on an alt, and she's not my main, so I have no problem keeping the mission till they patch it.
