Hi all,
last night Everest did something VERY VERY wonderfull for us - he spent a few weeks preparing some of his toons so he can help us unlock the Invader Accolade in 1 night.
It is recorded in a seperate thread in this Forum (http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=273958).
Snaps for Everest. -
Hi Gavin,
I forgot to add a smiley at the end of my MARTy statement - I was being a smartmule and having a joke.
But you are right - it can be smartmule comments like mine that other ppl take for gospel and then the forums get swarmed with 'I heard someone say MARTy does this and that...". -
Thanks for organising this Everest - my KM/EA Brute (and I) really appreciate it
I was considering bringing a few toons and swapping them in and out but with all the disconnects occuring I think it was smarter to stay on 1 toon and not risk annoying the GM's that have a data-mining tool to detect fast Bank Mish teams with lots of toon swaps. I mean why else did we have so many ppl disconnect?
Ahhhh - I think we finally got a show of power of the new MARTy (I can hears the devs evilly chuckling in the background).
Plant glad to hear you've upgraded to 8GB - hopefully no more Memory Crashes -
Ill be there for sure (barring some crap like loss of Internet).
Just got to figure out WHICH toon to bring.
Decisions decisions... -
WOW its been a while since I updated this page. My apologies.
Monday 26/09 Hard was good enough to run me through the mew Signature Arc "Who Will Die - Part 1". This is a great story and also can be done very fast for some awesome rewards - so its a bit of good for everyone
He then ran a Renault SF - so thanks to @Hard for the night
Last night we ran an Eden trial with a full team. Ive only done this a few times myself so there were a few "woah back up" moments but in the end we got it done with only 1 death on the Titan.
After that enw to the Aust Channel ZARTAIN ran a Manticore which was a breeze
Keep an eye on this Wednesday as @Everest is running an Invader Accolade starting at approx 9pm. -
Hey Deathscythe,
Ev is right that most of the team arranging, chatting etc has moved from SG/Coalition chat to the Aust Channel.
A LOT of ppl now a days have their own SG's for personal storage and with the 10 coalition limit it made if very hard to keep in touch with everyone so over time it just migrated to the Global Channels.
The Aust channel has a 3day silence auto-rule to avoid problem flamers but any of the Mods will be happy to unsilence you after that point.
If none of them are on I will be before 8:30pm EST tonight - when you see me online send me a tell (@Metacore) and I will unsilence you
Also every Monday we run Hero side events, Wednesdays is a Villain RPish night (you dont HAVE to RP but it is encouraged ;P) and Fridays have recently changed to a Villain night on the Exalted server.
Each event has its own thread in the Oceanic forums.
Welcome back and hope to see you gaming. -
Yes this is the Exalted VG but its not a SG.

Here is my new take on my KM/EA Brute (i21).
Its softcapped to S/L/F/C/E.
NE is at 37.8% with no Incarnate.
Energize is 17 secs off perma but with the high Def values this shouldnt be needed all the time.
Im going for the Nerva alpha for the +Acc (and the smaller +Def doesnt hurt either for -Def foes or running at +2, +3)

Hi all,
here is another Ranged build that Im after help with.
Ive only done a few Defenders before and never really tried to make an ideal build for one but all the -rech in Time/Ice just makes me all warm inside.
Farsight is perma which keeps my Ranged and E/NE Def at almost softcap.
Hasten is not perma.
Any ideas to improve (and why?).
Cheers

Hi all,
Im not much for building Ranged toons but I think what Ive done is a fair job.
Can I get some thoughts on what I could do better (and why)?
Im near the Ranged softcap and took SS so I can place Trip Mines without causing agro.
Cheers

Correction:
Quote:Deflection Shield grants (for Brutes) +11.25% Melee Def only - there is no S/L Defense.Example: Deflection Shield gives a Defense bonus against Melee Attacks, Smashing Attacks, and Lethal Attacks
It does grant +11.25 S/L RESISTANCE.
I think what EJI was getting at is IO Sets Defense bonuses now give 2 seperate bonuses.
Melee = S/L
Ranged = E/NE
AoE = Fire/Cold
This is different to the +Def your POWERS gives you.
Whichever Def the IO Set provides it gives half that for the linked Defense as well.
Example: Mako's Bite 6-slotted give +3.75% Ranged Def and +1.88% E/NE Def.
Touch of Death 6-slotted gives +3.75% Melee and +1.88% S/L Def
Kinetic Combat 4-slotted fives +3.75% S/L Def and +1.88% Melee Def
I think you have overslotted Stamina.
I have a SD/BA Tank (but yes he is IO'd to the gills) and I only 4 slotted it with the PerfShif EndMod, EndM/Rec, EndM/Acc and %End.
I also use the Numina++ and Miracle+.
In terms of cost - Tip Missions are your friend (level 20+).
You can do 5 a day. After the 10th you grind for a special Tip mish that you can run on that same day. If you confirm your alignment (ie: as a Villain do 10 Villain tips) you get 50 Merits. The every other time you confirm your alignment (10 Tips + special tip) you get an Alignment Merit. These are VERY good.
Two A.Merits can purchase ANY Recipe except Purples/PvP's. This includes the Numi/Miracle uniques and things like the Luck Of the Gamble +Rech and Quad IO's (Oblit +Acc/Dam/End/Rec) which can be VERY expensive on the markets.
Depending on the Tip mission and your toon a lot of them can be done in under 5 mins (some take longer).
Some prefer to get a Unique via A.Merits and sell it for early cash to help with the leveling costs. The Miracle/Numi's often sell for 250Mil+ (market prices do vary). This will also help with the majority of your IO's.
Once you have some liquid cash use ur A.Merits for your toons IO's.
I havnt opened your build but a little quirk with Mids and the ForceFeedback +Rech.
When you put this in a power it is auto-activated. This means when you have it in kick it will show the +100% rech automatically. Make sure you click the green button on Kick to deactivate the +Rech as it is not a 100% on power (only when you hit with Kick there is a 5% chance for the +100% recharge and it only lasts for 5 secs).
If you want more Def look at changing the Crushing Impacts for Touch Of Death (Melee) or Mako's Bite (Ranged).
Sciroccos Dervish gives AoE Def at 5-slots and also awesome EndRed.
Eradication gives Ranged Def at 3-slots and AoE at 6-slots (plus a large +MaxHP and some +MaxEnd).
Oblits are good but suffer from poor EndRed. Options options options
I also saw you have both the ShieldWall and Gladiator's Armor uniques - these are PvP IOs so will be VERY VERY VERY expensive (and I mean over the 2 Billion INF cap each expensive). -
The Gods hate FNV - tonight at 11pm Sydney time (EST) their will be a 2hr downtime.
While this will allow at least some gaming it will impact any long gaming sessions.
I was going to be late myself to this as I have a friends birthday drinks to go to but doubt ill get home in time for much gaming before 11pm. -
I use my Level 50 EM/EA Stalker all the time.
He gets all my extra recipes and makes/sells them for money for my other toons.
He LIVES at the Cap Black Market running from there to the Uni and back again.
Recently I made a Inv/EM tank but when I got the top 2 attacks I cried and deleted him (thankfully some friends took pity on my and helped my next Tank get some fast levels).
I love the IDEA of EM, just not the animations (also the pom-poms) and the -health in an attack power.
Each to their own and if you enjoy it go for it -
Welcome back
The reason there are no Brute BS/SD posts is because BS/Kat was only just proliferated with i21 - 2 weeks ago.
Parry provides a +15% Lethal/Melee defence for 10 secs which is a HUGE bonus for a Melee toon.
It recharges in 3 secs (with no other bonuses) and can be effectively stacked twice for a short lived +30% Melee def.
Keeping this in your attack chain may reduce DPS (Ive never tried working our DPS chains) but the enhanced survivability should not be overlooked.
Hover and CJ CAN be used together.
I personally enjoy the Energy Mastery options on my melee toons (whether Brute or Tank or Scrapper) as all my toggles drain my endurance big time and the extra is really good (especially at the later levels when Carnies/Malta come more into play).
I STRONGLY recommend you take the Fighting pool.
Kick vs Boxing = either really. I liek to take Kick so I can slot the Force Feedback +Rech.
Tough grants +11.25% S/L Res without any slots and as a Def toon you need some extra Res (you get ~15% from Deflection and True Grit) for when you do (and you will) get hit.
Weave is a +3.75% Def to ALL (inc Psi) which can get to almost 6% when slotted.
Not sure if you are aware of the defence soft-cap.
This is 45% Defence. (NOTE: Incarnate Content has a much higher softcap [69%] as they are much harder than regular foes and have higher Acc/ToHit values)
At this point a +0 foe only has a 5% chance (minimum allowed) to hit without any kind of buff (or debuff on you).
The same foe will still have a 5% chance to hit even if you have 100% Defence. For another example in DND rolling a 20 on a d20 is always a hit. This is a 1/20 chance which is also a 5% chance.
Higher level foes CON +1, +2, ..., or foes with +Acc/ToHit or when you get Def Debuffed will have an easier time to hit you.
SD is a Positional Def set (Melee, Ranged, AoE).
This is differrent to say Energy Aura which is a Typed Def set (Smashing/Lethal, Cold/Fire, Energy/Neg Energy, Psi).
If you can get to 45% for all 3 Positions thats fantastic.
Id recommend looking in the Scrapper forums for a BS/SD build. Most will be with IO Sets and they can really help a toon out.
The Def/Res values should be fairly similar between Scrapper/Brute.
The only real differrence will be the attack sets damage, the HP you have and the Epic/Patron options. -
Hi MrF,
Plantatia has created a new VG on Exalted.
We are running this group on Fridays at the moment - just hit level 16.
See the FNV thread for more info -
Im in the Oceanic timezone which gets hit by downtime USUALLY around 8-9pm.
(NOTE: I did say usually not always).
This is a really bad time for most people who work the AVERGE hours in my timezone.
But this time is also early morning USA time which is the biggest market so while it does annoy me I can also understand it. Less impact on the majority of customers.
Yes recently there have been some USA morning/midday downtimes but the vast majority of downtime is when the majority of the player base is asleep.
(In all fairness I will say that the above is an assumption as I dont know how many ppl in the American timezones play at 3am USA time). And yes I know there are multiple timezones in the USA.
But back to my point (and yes I do have one somewhere around here) the recent two downtimes started at (or will for tonights downtime) between 6:30-8:30pm in my timezone. Tonights is 3:30am USA = 8:30pm NSW (Australia).
If you dont play between 3am-11am USA (expected downtime) why should YOU get anything? What have YOU lost?
The OPTION to play the game at whatever time you want? I want to play the game when I get home for work after dinner but I cant as the regular weekly Maint starts 9pm my time. Should I whinge and ***** and demand payback? Hell no. Why? Because I know that things have to happen and sometimes things happen that werent planned for. So I deal with it. I understand NCSoft has to have downtime that affects the least number of customers. I understand that unforseen stuff happens that causes problems and if they are bad enough time needs to be spent to get it working again.
Well in that case Oceania should get regular paybacks as WE are much more affected than Americans. And yes I was being a ******** there.
Give everyone dbl xp weekend? When? Based on the forums posts for the last one ppl need 4-6+ weeks of prior notice so they can arrange leave.
But I cant play on that weekend. Sorry ive got something on. So I miss out on my payback. Wahhhhhhhhhhhh I get nothing you all suck.
As for ppl having issues with the EULA - you signed it. Deal with it.
I work for a company that provides support for a propriety software.
We do not offer support on our Sundays. We state this in out SLA (yes I know its diferent to a EULA but is similar enough for my point).
If a customer's database crashes on Sunday or after hours on Saturday they have no way of contacting us.
Dont like it? - dont agree to it which means dont play or use it. It is your choice. Find another game that doesnt have that type of disclaimer in their EULA (good luck) and play that game.
Have fun. -
These questions and more have been answered (or will be?).
Time heals all wounds given enough Time.
When travelling through Time there is no Time like the present as it is always the present for the Time traveller.
Time is understood by those who understand Time. If you dont have the Time to understand Time there is no better Time then now.
You need to have Time to make Time.
Ok its Time for me to get back to work.
Thank you all for your Time.
Enjoy tonights downTime which is expected to last for 12hrs - thats a lot of Time. It will start at approx 6:30pm Sydney Time. -
I have a Beam/Traps Corr stuck at level 11 (damn team locked) and a Beam/Dark that I have soloed to 19.
Both have the benefit of a -speed power at low levels (Caltrops and Dark Pit) which helps keeps mobs off you for a while. Caltrops has better -spd of course but Dark also has the PBAoE heal at level 1.
I find the 40' Piercing Beam/Ray (?) stun power a bit short ranged. As a major source of mitigation its VERY hard to use safely.
I also tried Beam/Sonic but it wasnt to my taste (YMMV) as the secondary was too active for me. I want to focus on my Beam attacks. Again thats just me -
Ive made 2 new toons on Exalted but Justice will still be my main Server.
Monday Night events will still be on Justice. -
Got my BR/Traps Corruptor ready to rock!
He is sitting in the tutorial as I didnt want to get the ball rolling and be unable to stop and end up too high of a level.
Used the new IDF Costume Set with the D.U.S.T rifle and the Blaze path aura (both these are new to me so wanted to give them a try).
See you all tonight at 8:30 (remember it CAN take time to come up with good name/costume so ensure your all ready by then) -
Are there Information Kiosks in Rogue Isles?
Maybe those Patrol Points (little yellow phone thingies)? -
As someone who has also posted this as a request YES PLEASE!!!!
Can someone who attends those USTREAM sessions bring this up at the next one?
Id love to see some options such as:
- Invite @Local (send the email/voucher/etc to THAT local account only).
- Invite @Global (Obviously will need some kind of Server and Alignment checking but send the email/voucher/etc to ALL existing/new toons on that Server/Alignment. If you change servers/alignment nothing happens - no auto-emailing - that toon will need to be Invited normally or using Invite @Local).
- Invite @Global_2 (As above but if a toon is already in another VG/SG DO NOT send the email/voucher to that toon) - OK this most likely will not be done but is an option. -
I didnt mean KB foes that exceed the Tanks aggro away from the Tank.
Sceanrio (and not unrealistic based on my experience):
Tank has aggro of a mob but too many foes are in melee or a ranged toon steals aggro (hello WP/ tanks).
A squishy attacks (damage, debuff, mez, etc) and draws the excess agro from the Tank.
The Tanks agro is still saturated.
Using my KB powers I can knock those foes away from the squishy. -
The problem isnt Knockback powers.
Its the USE of those powers.
Can KB be detrimental? Yes.
Can Rad Debuff be detrimental? Yes
Can Confuse be detrimental? Yes
If used poorly.
Can KB be beneficial? Yes.
Can Rad Debuff be beneficial? Yes
Can Confuse be beneficial? Yes
If used correctly.
However - if you join a team and they see ur a KB toon (whatever AT) and you get kicked for it thats a kind of griefing.
MANY people try and use KB in a positive light such as knocking foes INTO damage/debuff areas. Ill often find a loner bad guy and KB them TOWARDS the damage dealers. "Hay Tank - got a pressie for you. Catch."
I dotn know how many times Ive seen a Tank have too many foes which goes over the Agro cap (not the tanks fault) and so a squishy all of a sudden has 1 or more bad guys running for them. I fire off Power Push and knock them away and the squishy lives. If more than 1 foe Energy Torrent.
I look at KB as a psuedo-control set. My Nrg/Nrg Blaster uses his KB for the team.
It is very similar to saying that WP tanks cant hold Agro because its Taunt is only 1.25sec.
Saying KB IS BAD is just like saying a Tank without Taunt is bad cause they cant grab agro at range. When used properly BOTH are fine.
If someone is KBing foes in a bad way (TOWARDS other mobs, scattering a group) all the time then TELL THE PERSON!!!! Ask them to change their tactics and explain why.
Dont just be a jerk and get the 5H175 and get upset.
