  1. Allright thanks, I had a great concept + costume lined up for either rad/rad or cold/ice

Not convinced on the defender yet though. I tend to solo alot, and after my earth/fire dom I'm thinking a corr would be more refreshing than a defender considering the corr has offensive spells as a primary.

edit: kinetics looks like something I could work with aswell, think ill go that way. I once made a mind control dom and really disliked the effects, I thought sonic attack looked the same. It does look rather nifty with the some costum colors, my apologies
  2. And how is rad/rad or rad/energy corr or def?

Hehe, I'm a rather new player though. So things can get confusing. I found out asking people their opinion everywhere I can really helps me narrow down what type of character fits what I'm looking for

The actual look of the spells. Feels like I'm throwing a slinky at my enemy.

Any suggestion on what could replace Sonic? Really don't like the way it's visuals work :P
  6. I think I'd like the defender more then. Just not sure on what power pools would suit my needs most. Any thoughts? Since my cousin is new, I figured I could use a heal. But I'm not a bad player, so I could keep him safe without one I think.
  7. I started playing not too long ago and now I convinced my cousin to play a bit with me. He wants to go stone/fire brute and I've been looking for a new AT that looks appealing to me and fits well with him.

I'm not too sure on the difference between def and corr, some people claim corr does what a def does, but with damage added.

I'm looking for a jack off all trades character, that can solo safe and relatively fast but still very useful to my cousin and in team. Something that doesn't make me pause every 5 seconds. I'm really into thematic characters, so I was looking into something with either cold+cold, cold+storm, rad+rad etc.

Any suggestions? I don't really enjoy the visuals of dark and I've already played a lot of fire based characters.

    Much appreciated!
  8. I think I'll reroll Scrapper then. It fits my concept a lot better, I don't particulary like the fury mechanic on a Brute (I find it really annoying to start up if I wait too long reading mission text etc) and I haven't played one yet!

    So thanks for the advice!

I don't mind some character progression in PvP games (which seems to be the trend nowadays with a lot of modern games) but in MMOs character progression is the focus and I'm just not interested in PvPing that way.
100% agree with this. I played fps games competitivly for some time and I enjoyed it. But when it comes to MMORPGs, it just doesn't interest me for exactly those reasons. It clashes with everything an MMORPG is about. The fact that there are so many different classes (or AT's and power pools in this game) really just tones down to importance of skill so much. Unlike in fps games, where better reflexes and strategy are the only possible advantages you can have.

Some characters will always outperform the others, no matter how bad they are. It's like playing a basketball game where you get to play with a deflated ball against one team and a normal ball against the other. But ofcourse people are entitled to their opinion, this is just why I don't enjoy PVP in MMORPGs.
  10. So I'm making a new character and I've got the concept and power pools down. I want to make an Electric Melee / Shield defense character.

So far I made him a Brute. But I've heard that Scrapper is alot better with that set. From what I heard there is barely (if any at all) any difference in survivability between the two while the Scrapper profits more from the shield than a Brute does. However a Brute can tank.

Is this correct? A Scrapper would fit my concept better and I'm not THAT fond of the rage mechanic. However : eventhough I intend on solo'ing a lot and I'm not sure how big of a bonus being able to tank is? My main priority is leveling for now (ofcourse ).

    Thanks in advance!

EDIT: please keep in mind that I'm a rather new player who lacks a sufficient amount of funds for anything expensive.
  11. I've settled on earth, but not too sure about my secondary yet. Is energy any good combined with earth? I've read it's good single target damage but lacks aoe, which could both a good thing or a bad thing with earth I recon.

It would fit my theme better, but I want something aggressive and with good damage.
  12. One more question, if I unlock a costume piece on the new European account (which is on the same master account as the other one), is it available for the US account aswell?
  13. It worked! Thanks so much
    NCsoft owes you money, hehe

Bit of a confusing situation. After I read about the game I googled it and automatically got referred to a US account.
  14. My highest level is like level 20 so I don't mind starting over, if I get paragon points I'm starting over anyway because I want to buy some costume pieces. If I make a new account through this one :

    https://eu.cityofheroes.com/en/freedom/signup/

Would that get me a european account? Or is my email stuck to US accounts now? (I have a few email adresses though)
  15. EDIT: Just city of heroes freedom. Do I need to download a new client?
  16. I did exactly that, but the option doesn't show. Could it be that I have a US account? I wouldn't know where to check. My location is put to Belgium atleast, when I first logged on to this masters account however, the top right language setting said (English GB) if that helps.
  17. I've read on the support forums that you supposedly can pay with a paysafecard. I don't own a credit card since I'm still studying.

I'm from Belgium, it's one of the countries on the list where it should be available. However, the explanation of payment methods isn't all that clear. Could anyone tell me if I can buy points with a paysafecard? Or buy anything at all, because I'm not getting the option when I try to.

You can also only buy 10euro and not 15euro, but tbh I wouldnt actually mind paying 5euro more just for the convenience because I'm incredibly busy atm.

    Thanks in advance!
  18. I think I get it
So as a new player with no access to the invention system (for now atleast), it would be a safer bet to go earth. But if I want to kill things faster when solo'ing, plant is still better even for a free player, just less safe?
  19. So in terms of min/maxing on a dominator, how does plant as a primary compare to earth? I made a costume and character that could go both
  20. Thanks for the help! Yeah, I can see how they are very different. Seldom already answered my question though. The reason I wanted to choose between these, was purely because I had 3 or 4 hero concepts I wanted to work on. Was looking for the one that is good for a beginner. Works out perfectly, the one that appealed most to me is the one that Seldom mentioned as the most noob-friendly

Thanks, ill start creating one right away! (seems to take me a couple of days to get them right haha)
  21. Hey, I'm a rather new player and I wanted to give one of these 2 AT's a go.
I'm a sucker for rp and looking like a true hero/villain. With this in mind I wanted something that looked and felt powerful. This brought me to either Dominators or Defenders, so far I've stablished both look awesome when playing, but Dominators feel stronger for solo play.

The ones I've been most interested in, from most to least interesting:

earth/fire Dom (lava!), storm/energy Defender, rad/rad Defender or ice/ice Dom.

Which one of those are good and rather fast at solo play/leveling?
    Thanks in advance!
