  1. Teh original solo-er eh. Yeah, I was thinkin about trickin him out a bit and doing some venturing into the solo world.
  2. This is all great info guys. Thanks alot. This is a good way to get me started. I really wanted to get into the depth of CoX so I'm taking the plunge. Sometimes it looks like it could be boring without all the other guys doing what they do, but I also find it more gratifying when I can carry myself through some decent mobs in the mid 30s lvl. I was thinkin about maybe soloing my lvl 50 DM/SR toon through some AV type things. But I may also create a new one and have fun building him up.
  3. Hello all. I am gonna change my own pace of CoH and try soloing. What useful information should I know about soloing? I want to also get my toon(s) up to AV soloing strength as well. Could you guys give me the low down? Also, this could turn into duo-ing as well since my GF plays.
  4. Thanks for the opinions. My DM/SR was my first toon and he was fun once I revamped him, BUT I didnt revamp him with all the set bonuses that many ppl in the CoH community seem to have.

I haven't done DM/SD simply because i never got around to it, but it does sound rather good to an extent. I'd get my heal which would have to be accuracy checked of course.
I got my fire/SD up to 41, but only because alot of ppl are farming, so I farmed him up there. Not sure how he would fare out alone in the world. My DM/SR had a hard grind to 50 back when everyone wasn't into the big AE farm hype. I may just create one and ignore the hype and just gring him to glory. But how does shield defense compare with the other secondaries? Why the taunt aura in against all odds? That sucks.

Also, I wanted to roll with something that I already had. But the DM/SD option does sound alright.
  5. Hey all. As alot of you have, I've grown bored with AE teams. I've been on CoH on and off for about 3+ years and sadly admit that I've barely tapped into the depth of CoH. I've don't a few task forces, killed like 4 arch villains with a group, done countless radio mishes and a few arcs. I know I16 will change the current state of the game. I want to get into more arcs and Archvillain killing! With that being said, I have a decent stash of INF saved up and I want to dump a bunch of money into a killing machine. Which build would you probably make your killing machine?

    DM/SR scrapper
    DB/SR scrapper
    BS/DA scrapper
    FM/SD scrapper
    Kat/WP scrapper

And I'm not to sure how tanks translate into AV soloing. Maybe in team beneficial, but solo is that an good option?

Also, as sucky as it sounds I refuse to go spines anything. Though it is powerful, I am just not attracted to spines at all.
  6. See, I like both side of this discussion. With a good build though that is alot of INF to build up in order to get IO'ed out. Some people will say "play the market and you luck up on something. Be patient" I have like about 100+ mill in influence spread amongst all my lvl 50s. But these days the market is ruthless. Maybe a market reset or something is in need. I don't know if they do that. I've been doing numerous boss farms to try to come up on some good finds in the AE vendor store. Haven't seen much that would go into my scrapper build.

FYI, I haven't tapped much into the AV killing. I've only fought a few, but would like to get more into it. And I wouldn't really solo either, my GF plays support roles alot so it would at the very least be duo-ing an AV.

I've found a nice love for tanking mainly because I think alot of tanks out there suck so I show em how I gets down, but I love scrappers as well. I want to get just ONE AV killer and Task force type. My DM/SR is 50 and is nice. My DB/SR is coming along. I also have a BS/DA at lvl 30, but I haven't really taken a firm liking to him because he is an end hog.

All in all I guess the majority of you would say save up, get IO'ed out, skip aid self. I'll spend my millions and see where it gets me.
  7. Well, I'm usually getting healed by someone, but sometimes those healers die. There always that one time though where I'll take a big hit and I lose like half a bar before I get healed. I'll get really low and take a step or two back and aid self and jump back in. I'm lvl 37 right now and I haven't got into the set bonuses for this toon. Especially since the market is being gouged at the moment.
  8. I have a DB/SR scrapper in the making. right now she is at lvl 37. I was looking at a few builds and I was a bit surprised to see that some of the /SR builds had no self heal. Why is this? Are you dependent on that defender or controller to heal you or is your build that IO-ed out that you just really wont get that one devastating blow to the head and go down for the count? Plz do tell. I saving up alot of money....for what I don't know. I have alt-itis and I'm lookin to get that one toon that I can resort to as my AV and task force go to hero. I have a 50 DM/SR, but he has siphon life.
  9. I actually found a little hustle for myself to keep my toons up to date to a degree. I use AE tickets to buy certain items in the at the AE vendor and sell those. I made a decent little stash to keep my toon up to snuff for a while.
  10. I have a DM/SR scrapper at 50. I loved that dude. He can wreak havoc when he doesn't get hit. But even when he does get his, I have a little added resistance.

My Fire/shield isn't the greatest right now. At the same time, at lvl 20 it's hard to get a good team to merc some villains with. How do you think fire/shield plays in PvP. I haven't really got into PvP much, but I'd like to.

I haven't played CoH in a while before a few days ago. I can't seem to come up on enough INF to get some serious IO action going on. I usually try to farm up with my 50s and then transfer INF. Gets to be a little tedious sometimes though.
  12. So far this toon I am rolling is nice. Was end hog until I finally hit 20 last night. Thanks for the info/reassurance guys. This toon ought to be fun to run.
  13. Hey guys. I just came of another long CoH Hiatus. I am back now and I am rolling a fire/shield scrapper. I have him at lvl 18 now. I fell into a nice farm yesterday in AE and got there rather quick. SO, I've looked at the guides for shields and fire melee, but no combined guide. It sucks that in this game certain builds are favored way more than others. Anyways, what are you opinion in this type of scrapper? Also, sorry for the title typo.
  14. I had an Ice/Dual.....I played him to like 24....I scrapped him. Maybe I'll give it another go in the future. He just seemed a lil too squishy. Dual blades doesn't give much on the stun/KB side. So enemies just keep attacking you. Savior of the Ice build would be the ice patch. I forget though it that part of ice armor or ice melee? Any how...dual attack don't really help with mitigation like stone, ice, or many other secondaries. I think dual has one attach that lowers the enemy (not enemies) defense. I think with dual you need a primary that give -res or -def or something to enemies. I have a WP/Dual I may re-roll.
  15. I had to do a little digging for this guide since it isn't on the scrapper guide front page. Is this up to date with I13 standards? Thx for the guid though man. I have a BS/DA up to 24 now....soooo much fun so far.
  16. Maybe I have over looked this slightly, but anyone ever thought about a Yeti primary? Maybe later I will come up with a power scheme but I'd go Tier 1 Yeti protector, Tier 2 Yeti Crusher, and Tier 3, Abomidable (spelling?) snow man or for copyright purposes Devastator Yeti. Highly resistant to cold, high prone to fire damage.

    OR

    Reptiles
    Tier 1 Snakes, Tier 2 Komodo dragon/Gila Monster, Tier 3 Crocodile/Gator.

This is just surface though. I might go into detail when I get home. Im at work.

Ahhhh Ok. Cool. Thanks for the info.

    Mac Open Beta

I have a reallu dumb question, so I'll proceed to put on my flame suit now. I've never used any betas or training room. Been running CoX on my Mac though. With us MAC users using open beta in the training room, will any progress be transferred or saved? I assume not, but just so I am clear.
  19. Good guide man. Thanks for the post. I have a lvl 32 fire/stone that might need some slight tweaking. This seems like a decent guide to follow.
