I've stated before that Forcefield is handily outperformed by multiple other competing sets, regardless of AT

[/ QUOTE ]
Put together a video of a Sonic soloing 3 groups of Nemesis at once in a 7 man unyielding mish and surviving for over 7 minutes without using anything but Sonic, power pools, no attacks, and an Epic shield and then I'll believe that some other primary can possibly _equal_ what FF can do.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, YOU'RE the one who keeps telling everyone to go roll a Stormy.

EDIT: P.S. This doesn't really have anything to do with the discussion about changing the FF Defender primary.

[/ QUOTE ]
Sure it does. These are more examples of capabilities I don't want to lose when (if) any changes occur.

And of course I used the Medicine pool when soloing 3 groups at once on a 7 man unyielding mish without using inspirations, temp powers, vet powers, attack powers, or my primary.

When we "fix" the "broken" FF set, I want to still be able to do that.

[/ QUOTE ]

So what's your suggestion for the change? I've stated before that Forcefield is handily outperformed by multiple other competing sets, regardless of AT. How do we make them better?
3. Some thoughts on changes after thinking about it a bit.

<ul type="square"> [*]PFF and the big 3: No change. Working as intended.
[*]Force Bolt: MAYBE add a 50% chance of a mag 2 or mag 3 stun.
[*]Detention Field: I don't have a simple fix from this one.
[*]Repulsion Field: Again, no simple fix.
[*]Repulsion Bomb: Significantly reduced animation. Lower knockback magnitude to knock-down.
[*]Force Bubble: Add a resonating, non-stacking effect of -recharge, -to hit for 10 seconds for any enemy hit by a pulse from the Bubble. Any enemy not thrown clear gets a continuous debuff and any thrown clear are still debuffed for 10 seconds after they leave the area.
I still think some non-simple solutions could also be used, but then I like thinking out of the box. For example:
<ul type="square"> [*]Detention Field: A mag 3 or mag 4 toggle hold with a -speed, -recharge, -damage effect so that it will be useful against AV's and GM's.
And just to be clear about the Forcefield set, I've tested it in all its available venues (Defender, Controller and Mastermind), and in every case there are always multiple sets that provide better mitigation and versatility, not just Defenders.
4. &lt;QR&gt;

My thoughts repeated again, major and otherwise:

1) Leave the big three, plus Force Bolt and PFF alone. Working as intended.

2) For Repulsion Bomb, lower the kb mag OR increase the stun frequency. Either would help. Both would be awesome!

3) Leave Repulsion Field as is if....

4) Change Force Bubble from a KB/KD/Repel aura to a -dam, -speed, -rech aura. Make them push their way through like their moving through jello and make their damage suffer for it. It's all win here.

Inspiration lost

Sounds like what those of us in the alternative religious community (i.e. pagans, wiccans, etc.) call a "Dark Night of the Soul". It's where a person basically loses connection with the powers that be and why they began that path in the first place.

And creativity and inspiration are definately things I would consider sacred and magickal.

Sounds to me like it's time for you to take a sort of quest to figure out where things turned for you. Look inside. Meditate upon your past works. Let the emotions that caused you to create them in the first place flow into you. It may help you to find that bond with your creativity that you lost. It may not be the same as when you left it (it rarely is; art is ever changing), but it will be just as vibrant as you remember.

I know it may sound like I'm trying to sell you something. I'm not. I've been where you are. You aren't alone. You never were.

x) Learn you team mates powers / tactics

Inv Tanks/Scrappers and Stone Tanks can not move when in Unyeilding Stance / Rooted. So whilst the combat is going be aware that although the Tank is acting like the Anvil that you will crush the bad guys on - that Anvil may not be moving far. If you run away from them they will be unable to taunt/provoke the bad guys that you have aggroed onto yourself off you.

[/ QUOTE ]

Update! For new players JUST getting to learn the game, the bold part above is no longer true. Stone Armor Tanks and Brutes are able to move albeit slowly and Invulnerability Tanks, Scrappers and Brutes don't have movement penalties at all anymore.

However, it is important to know the capabilities of your team.

EX 1:If you're teamed with a level 10 tank, and he/she only has one power out of their primary, chances are it's a bad thing to let them lead a charge into an enemy group.

EX 2:Be aware of what your controllers and defenders are capable of so that you aren't disappointed later if your expectations are, for whatever reason, not met. (i.e. if you are expecting an AoE control from your controller, make sure they have it; also, don't look for healing or a rez if you have a Sonic Resonance defender)

Scrappers have no 'signature' powersets.

[/ QUOTE ]

Then what's Broadsword?

[/ QUOTE ]

Do you honestly consider Broadsword to be signature?

I know I don't.

Now, if Scrappers had Street Fighting, I could consider that as a 'signature'. But BS? No way.

[/ QUOTE ]

Okay, educate me. How is BS not signature?

Pretty lame. I was really hoping the community wouldnt vote for another lethal set but they did, then to top it off I prayed that the devs would be creative and not make another sword set............. just great. We had our chance as a community to get a really cool set made and this is what we wasted it on. I really like Willpower but id rather choke then play another crappy sword set.

[/ QUOTE ]

Don't blame me. I voted psychic melee.
11. Sorry, but I stated that Mr. Fish was probably Mako for the same reasons, and I stand by that.

15. Based on the articles alone, this is what would happen to the various major hero/villain contacts:

Back Alley Brawler is dead. New trainer in Galaxy City.

Manticore has defected. If his TF still exists, it will be given out by someone else.

Swan is in exile in South America and in questionable health. New trainer in Brickstown.

Lord Recluse did not win the Rogue Isles and did not form the immense Arachnos organization. Currently on the run with Manticore. New upper end TF's for all villains?

Captain Mako Currently a CIA liason under the code name 'Mr. Fish'.

This is just going to be bizarre.
16. One interresting thing that hasn't been brought up yet: Mako

Let's look at the evidence:

CIA Operative, Mr. Fish, with a "shark-like grin"?

Hmmmmm....

Mako's been remade too.

[/ QUOTE ]

Time could be moving relatively slower or faster on any given parallel Earth as compared to Earth Prime ('our' Paragon City Earth)

[/ QUOTE ]

A couple of things:

1) We keep talking about the "Rikti homeworld" as a parallel Earth. Why can't it be the same Earth, just different times. We're still talking seriously about time-travel, right? Maybe the Rikti believe that something done in our time will permanently unmake theirs. That would mean they are the ones messing with what has been.

2) Assuming my above statements are correct, Rikti AT's anyone?
20. Good guide and a fun read. A few things though:

1) Under Vines, you say "Unlike many other AOE Holds, Vines does no damage at all." Actually, this is the norm, not the exception. If I remember correctly, of all the AoE holds available in Controller and Dominator primaries, only Earth Control's Volcanic Gasses does any kind of damage and it's minimal damage at best. But damage isn't the reason you take an AoE hold is it?

2) Something about cone attacks in general, brought up by your discussion about Frost Breath. Once a player is experienced enough in knowing the limits of their various cone powers, putting a single range modifier into them allows for you to hit larger groups (at least up to your cap) at safer distances, since longer cones also cover a larger area at the far end. This means your 'narrow cone', Frost Breath, becomes a lot more useful.

3) As someone who has played with Ice attacks extensively (after more than two years, I'm finally going to have my first 50, an Ice/Dev blaster), I will say that Ice attacks are End hogs. I'm surprised you didn't put more emphasis in putting End reducers into the heavier Icey Assault powers.

Thanks again for a great guide!

Pet Damage

Have any of these values been tested against the pets and pseudo-pets of other AT's, such as Auto-Turret, Voltaic Sentenel and Dark Servant (yes I know he only has one damaging attack in his arsenal, but still)?
