fighting brutes tended to be a very evenly matched fight before, and I think I'm in real trouble now. *sigh*

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, it was real fun fighting fotm Blasters that could detoggle multiple defenses with every other hit. You'd spend the entire fight retoggling, while not gaining any significant Fury in the process. Good riddance.

Get some range and <gasp> Blast.
  2. I've been on these forums since CoH beta and dude, we all have our bad days, but you are the single biggest jerk I've seen butt their way into a serious discussion about how powers work in this game. Stalkers are controversial to many, but we could actually be making progress towards a good evaluation of tactics for avoiding AS and thwarting Stalkers if you didn't constantly distract from the thread with your false-absolutes, half-cooked theories about how others play and personal insults to anyone and everyone who disagrees with your completely subjective assertions.

You've criticized other people's arguments with mis-used terms randomly pulled from your debate 101 textbook, and then make personal insults in the same replies - as if the two tactics are not a self-defeating contradiction within the framework of a discussion. Good Riddance to your nonsense posts.
  3. Mal, that was an excellent, excellent post.

You're doing the typical thing I see in the stalker forums. You argue inconsistent points and march out endless armies of strawmen. Someone refutes A and you switch to B. Someone refutes B and you argue C. Someone refutes C and you argue A again...even tho it was already shot down. It's pointless.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Understanding how debate works doesn't necessarily make you right, just like knowing the names of your power-tray buttons doesn't necessarily mean you know what to do with them in combat.

    Refute this:

The devs have given heroes all the tools they need to defend themselves against Stalkers and defeat them, including inspirations, AT powers, pool powers, temp powers and team combinations.

    True or False?

I know that all the necessary tools are there because I've seen good hero teams use them with GREAT success. So.. why can't you?

If you are too lazy or incompetent to use the provided tools, then what you are complaining about is inconvenience and your completely subjective 'fun factor', not balance.

I bet Castle and the dev team cry everytime they read a 'nerf stalkers' post. I believe the dev team went to some length to insure that there were ways to thwart this (guaranteed to be) controversial AT, and I see Stalkers as a testament to how powerful the devs view the hero ATs.

But I guess they have over-estimated the ability of many players. And here we are.

thow all the "but everyone can see stalkers" and "it's easy to avoid AS's.. just keep moving" [censored] all you want, my main villain IS a stalker, I know how it is

keeping moving doesn't do jack [censored] for an AS.. all the stalker has to do is not move and have it que'd when the hero comes close enough

    [/ QUOTE ]

Dude, you are either lying, or don't play PvP, or are just plain wrong. Two falsehoods in one post, stated with such bravado..

You can't queue the power. Stop telling me how easy it is when you don't even know how it works.

Moving saves lives. If you don't believe this, you are either a novice player, or have never actually tried to strike a moving target.

It's stuff like this that keeps disinformation alive, and convices the already-uninformed to accept outright MYTHs about how Stalker powers work. You aren't helping anyone by proving your ignorance.

PVP requires no skill now if all a person has to do is make sure their victim has no perception powers/defense and one shot them. This becomes even easier when your victim is preoccupied with another opponent.

    [/ QUOTE ]

DOesn't that also qualify as being without awareness?

A person without perception or defense or battle-awareness and readiness might want to consider coming back to PvP after they've selected some PvP-oriented attributes, such as perception and defense, battle-awareness and readiness. That, or they can come to terms with the fact that they are going to be facing opponents that are harder to fight than mission AI, who might have built their powers around PvP-oriented combat and actually prepared for this type of battle. Then, defeat won't hurt the pride so much that you run screaming to the forums looking for nerfs.

Heroes can and do thwart my assassination attempts - why can't you? Has it occurred to you that perhaps the problem is not in the design, but in your tactics and playstyle not being anywhere near where it needs to be to compete with people who actually built their characters for PvP, and practice it solo and with teams nightly?

    Patience does not = skill.

Neither does you saying = true

Here's the problem that I see. On heroic in a 5 man team during our testing I really didn't see the need for anyone to "tank" for the team.

    [/ QUOTE ]

On Heroic, even with 5 people, there's barely a need for anyone other than the mission-owner and a buddy. I think higher difficulty settings for your missions really do make the game more fun.

    Anyway, how about this:

    Heals generating aggro.
    Is that crazy?

I'm just wondering if the problem could be that the people who should need a tank most just.. well, don't need one?
  9. I miss the good ole days when Brickstown was infested with wolves and vamps. Mobs of 10+ vampyres on street corners, whole packs of 10+ Nightwolves stalking alleyways... it was like Halloween-land, a dangerous and extremely fun place to hunt. The day that zone became dominated by Crey in their place was very sad
