  1. RP Center

Description - Need a few more members for your silver age-themed SG? Gearing up for a big RPvP event in Bloody Bay and want to get word out? Or are you just looking for a couple other like-minded heroes to fight crime with? Look no further than the RP Center. We're a OOC global channel created to help strengthen Virtue's RP community, build ties, and get word out to players in game about up and coming events and recruiting SG/VGs.

Rules - All we ask is that conversations are kept PG-13. We don't need players talking about things that might offend others, and should keep in mind that younger, impressionable players may be around.

We're a Public Channel, so you're welcome to join at your leisure anytime. If you have any issues or questions, send me a PM via these forums or contact me in game at @X-zero. I'll be happy to help in any way I can.
  2. Looks great. Can't wait for it. No complaints.
  3. New patterns for tights that aren't too busy. Take a look at the Arctic pattern, for instance. That has far too much going on in it, and I rarely see anyone use it because it just looks plain awful as a pattern to wear on one's costume. It doesn't do a good job meshing with existing options, either.

Now look at the Alpha pattern. Very simple. Meshes well with other existing patterns. Doesn't try to recreate Mona Lisa on your body. We need more patterns like this.

Interestingly enough, we don't actually have any basic trim patterns for anything, either. Gloves, boots, and every cape except the Magic Cape don't have any basic trim options to go with them. It would be nice if we could design capes like this.

  5. Love everything about this update so much, except that dog. Kinda just wish we could summon a shadow version of ourselves using the Doppelganger tech, or at least the shapeless Fluffy that Dark users normally get. The dog makes me feel like my dark controller/dominator will also have to absolutely love dogs so much it seeps into his powers.

He's in the new tutorial. Hero area, helping and directing civilians to safety.

That is insane. It's also not how the game has ever worked, including now. Guess what? The shard is going to be coop zones, this has been foreshadowed for several actual years now, and no quantity of tears can reverse the inevitable at this point.
Chill out a sec, man. Way to over react.

First, when's this been foreshadowed by the devs or in game? I'm honestly curious.

Second, what tears? I'm not raging, only was having a quick discussion with one poster and asked someone else an honest question.

Third, I'm not totally against co-op. In fact, I even suggested making one of the four Shard zones co-op. I never said anything stupid like "zone fairness". What I do expect, though, is for the Shard to continue telling a good story that can incorporate villains without the rehashed "Let's team the heroes and the villains up again, and make the villains into good guys the entire time" plot. Best way to do that, take one of four zones that aren't being used, give it to the villains so they have something special to call their own. I still don't see how anyone's being punished if no content is being removed, and we're all going to get more content overall if the devs decide to focus some time on the Shard.
  9. Mission Architect changed this game for me.

It's one thing making your own characters, designing their appearances, their stories, backgrounds, etc. But actually writing a story yourself and getting to see it all come to life right in front of you? Too awesome. I've made so many AE arcs for myself and friends to enjoy, that alone has justified my subscription. I just wish the devs would focus a little more time on adding cool new features to the AE.

Chill out a sec, please, for starters.

Second, you're missing all the other Praetorian zones, which are co-op as well. Might not have co-op content, but heroes and villains can still enter, mingle around, and do zone events. Not to mention the new Dark Astoria will be co-op.

Third, the whole "heroes and their sworn enemies band together to fight a common foe" shtick is getting real old. It's been used against the Rikti, 5th Column and Romans with aliens, Snaptooth twice, Lord and Lady Winter, all the Incarnate content, the dark god Mot in the upcoming Dark Astoria, and the First Ward story arcs. It'd be great if the devs took a break from having villains and heroes be best buds.

All ribbing aside, I can speak for at least one blue-side player who would hate to lose any of the existing Shard zones, even under those circumstances... Me. I'd like it as much as anyone to have some kind of Shard access for my red-siders, but I'd much rather see the place go co-op (or even new zones added-) than to lose any of the current zones for my hero-side characters.
I'm being honest and not trying to have attitude, but what exactly is it about all four zones that makes you wish bluesiders get to keep 'em all? If it's the content, it doesn't have to be removed, but instead moved into one central zone, like Firebase Zulu. And if it gets updated, the devs have been huge on keeping the original version in Ouroboros so it's never really gone.

If it's the scenery, although I do agree it's nice to look at every now and again, you can still wander the zones in mission maps that I'm sure would be made or if one of them is turned into a co-op zone with a new storyline. The zones look relatively the same anyway, though.

Or is it just you don't want blueside to have less? I'm honestly kind of curious what your specific reason is.

Setting aside what everyone would want or like, the easiest thing for the Devs to do is to rework the zones so that villains have access to co-op zones, and leave it at that. Anything else might be more cool and more desirable but at that point you're talking about using a lot of developer time on it.
I never said get rid of the content. You can easily just move existing TFs to the one hero Shard zone, which would make them more easily accessible anyway. Maybe they could even update the TFs themselves while they're at it so they aren't 12 missions that are all the exact same as the last. That'll definitely interest more players into wanting to actually consider running them.

And how would it be any easier that way? They would still have to do the same work to set up entrances and exits, and the current content is geared towards heroes, so they'd have to rework the missions and TFs so that you aren't treated as a hero regardless of your status, both in mission text and alignment. I mean, I guess they could just open the doors and say "Here's your shard, but it's only hero content." but that'd be horribly sloppy and half-*****, considering villains and rogues wouldn't be able to actually play anything, just fight the random spawns.

Best option I can see is move all existing content to one zone, make that the hero base. Have Arachnos occupy another zone, make that the villain HQ. Story could be they're tapping into Rularuu's power. The other two zones could be, like someone mentioned, Incarnate PvP and Co-op where heroes and villains fight back Rularuu himself. Much like it'll be in the new Dark Astoria, there will be choices you can make along the way if you're heroic or villainous so that you aren't railroaded into being the good guy.

Thing is, all these zones being lost is really just the old unused clutter being cleaned out of Blueside. The only people that used GC were people that didn't want the massive popularity that was AP. DA was rarely used, and many people complained of the fog impeding travel. The Shadow Shard has four zones, only one of which really has anything going on in it. I'm pretty sure no bluesiders would lose sleep losing one or two of the zones if it meant getting actual, legit, fun content there.

Because the villain and hero Ouroboros's actually are different. Aside from the 5th Column TF and Ramiel's arc, all the content given out is geared specifically toward you being a hero or you being a villain. That would require new tech that has contacts give out different missions based on alignments, a heap of work to actually combine the zones, not to mention the whole echo of Galaxy/Dark Astoria thing, which I believe, though could be wrong, is only supposed to be available to heroes.

Plus we just do not need a new co-op zone. We have too many as it is.
  16. Any chance of making these part of a rotating set of login screens so we don't have to constantly watch States fight a lieutenant-class robot?
  17. No. No more co-op. However, I'm not opposed to Arachnos trying to take control of the Shadow Shard, causing one of the Shard zones to be taken from heroes and given to villains. Another can be a strictly hero zone, one of the zones could be PvP or something. Have the heroes vs. the villains vs. Rularuu.
  18. In the past, not every movie to come out of Hollywood was a gem, either. Turns out, movies have always, overall, "sucked" like they do now. lol @ Plan 9 From Outer Space. Stories have been rehashed all through out history, actually. Books, plays, bards telling stories they've heard from other bards, etc. Just how it goes. Things really aren't sucking any worse now than they have in the past. It's just this is the present. We get to see all the suck first hand and in our faces.

    New frontiers

Machine animals. Robotic lions, bears, wolves, etc. Could be an enemy group for some mad scientist.

Elemental creatures, like dogs made of fire, or large spiders made of stone.

Shadow beasts for zones like the new Dark Astoria.

Ugh, I'm kind of sick of dogs at this point, to be honest. They've already busted out two dog pets plus a dog-form for players. Let's use that four legged rig for some other animals/creatures/abominations so CoH isn't over saturated with dogs..

Actual dinosaurs, as cool as they may be, would feel too out of place and silly to me in this game. However, I'm not at all opposed to having the new four legged rig give us some truly dinosaur-sized monstrosities. Like, which is related to your suggestion, an epic Primal DE monster emerges from Eden. Perhaps a giant beast made up of vines chunks of land, with four massive trees as legs or something similar.
  23. It's the new Coyote travel power, which is in Open Beta. It detoggles you completely and you can't use attacks, much like Walk, but if you do select an attack while in Coyote form, you'll go into a sort of attack stance. Which means the Devs are obviously playing around with the idea of making these dogs enemies in the future.
