Brawler, I'm really sorry, I somehow totally missed your awesome review. Old age I guess...in any case thank you very much for the great detailed feedback. I think I may have already addressed most of the points you made in responding to others, however I don't think anyone else has raised the question of it saying "Defeat Blight Angel" in the last mission and that is an interesting thought. Maybe something like "Defeat New ILRecruit" or something. I have to think on it a bit. Again, thank you!

  3. Thanks for the play and for the detail feedback. 5 stars on Christmas, what more can I ask ask for?

Known MA BUG. He is set to remain in place and about 75% of the time does, but when the bug kicks in he follows.

Mission 4: I actually found Blappy to be the easiest of the 3 bosses. Berle just about owned me since I was in the middle of fighting another spawn and didn't realize he was the one hitting me until they went down. Where I'm left confused, however, is why is he attacking me? I could understand it if he turned when I fight Blappy, although that would make it one hell of a tough fight. I'm left scratching my head when he attacks me after Blappy is dealt with.
This must be part of the known betrayal MA BUG. I've never had it happen to me or even heard of this happening in this arc before (you must be "lucky" I guess). Berle is set to turn when Blappy is at 1/4 health which is in line with what you thought and of course makes stopping Blappy tougher.

    Quote:
(By the way, at one point Blappy says "I'm really like the injustice legion so far", which sounds like a typo to me.)
You, that's a typo and will be fixed by the time you read this.

I also didn't get the way caps were used on certain letters in Blight Angel's speech. It didn't look like it worked as emphasis so I kept looking for a code. Couldn't figure it out if it was, though.
It's to illustrate her state of mental unbalance and her total slip into madness.

Thanks again for the feedback and for playing the arc!

Actually, when they introduced the ability to control what powers your custom characters have and therefore increase/decrease their reward values, in general rewards went up. I know most characters in my arcs are at 90-100% when they used to be set at 75%.

In the past I have ticket capped on a dozen groups many many times. Then I go buy salvage for myself to use in crafting
What enemies were you fighting before that gave the superior ticket drops?

  6. Thanks very much for playing he arc and for your feedback. I was not expecting any plays at all having my arc fall during this hoilday week, so it was a very nice surprise! On to your comments.

I agree, it's not really much of a humor arc (so much so that I thought of removing the humor tag from it). It's really a origin story with drama and a little humor thrown in. This was one of the reasons I thought about removing the humor tag, people see it and expect non-stop jokes which is not this arc at all.

The gameplay is balanced. I did not feel particularly overwhelmed and the bosses seemed to be just challenging enough. You have a menagerie of custom enemies in your custom groups. It is hard to imagine all these enemies joining up together to fight you but on the other hand it works with the overall story.
"Henchmen for Hire" are not a group at all, just a bunch of out of work henchmen. The Injustice Legion has a clear back story that is mentioned numerous times through out the arc in a variety of places. Did you feel the group was not clear in what sort of villains it was made up of or is there something else?

One thing I would do is make the boss Junkyard Dog have larger profile. He looks very similar to his minions. Maybe make him larger or give a different fur color.
I will definitively take a look at him.

    Quote:
The writing is a bit much on the eyes. I say this for two reasons. One, you have walls text thrown at you at times. Break these walls of text into 2-3 paragraphs and your writing will be far more readable. Your mission 2 send off is a prime example of this. Two, your enemies sometimes shout a paragraph out when you are in the mission. I would cut these down as well. It puts an unnecessary break into the action since I have to start reading a chat log to figure out what they are saying.
This arc is by far the most text heavy arc of all of my arcs and that was on purpose due to the fact it was for one of Dr. Aeon's contests. It's well known at this point that he wants graphic novel type stories over comic book ones, so I added more information than I even like reading myself. That said, some people like that sort of writing like Dr. Aeon, and others like us don't. So this is my arc for the over the top detail lovers out there.

Overall, I think this is a great arc. It was more enjoyable then the radio and T.V. missions created by the developer’s. For that, I am giving it 5 stars.
Thanks so much, I'm happy you had fun playing it.

In the City of Heroes folder, find two files: one ends in PRV and one ends in CHECKSUM
    Delete them
At Start, click Run. IN the box, type CMD
The Command Prompt black screen appears. In the command window, type :
IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS <--- notice the space before /

After it runs, type EXIT in the command window and the black screen goes away.
    Restart COX
It will checksum and then fix the broken files
    It will verify
And then you can log in

This did not work for me.

UPDATE - I did the above and in addition rebooted the computer after and was able to log on.

  15. I didn't till just now realize that you can get a Gr'ai Matter incarnate component every 18 hours with Vanguard merits. This component is equal to 4 incarnate shards and is purchasable with 150 Vanguard Merits.

This makes me wonder why something similar is not doable with MA tickets. I know, I know people will say "but WN if you make it so you can get incarnate stuff in MA it will get abused!". In my opinion, no more or less so than Vanguard Merits if you put the same restrictions of a time limit to how often you can turn them in and make the cost high enough. Honestly, I think 18 hours is a bit short and would not mind seeing 48 hours or even 72.

    OK, let me have it.....

No one else does either as far as I know. At least I certainly don't as demonstrated by the various threads I have started to addressed the many issues in MA like the ratings system, HoF and the search feature.

As far as people right now being busy with I19 goes, while that is true it's neither here nor there since there is always new stuff like I16, I17, I18, etc. Bottom line is if MA problems are not addressed and if MA is not included in new issues, it will crumble more as time goes on.

Given that it'll probably take a half dozen fives in a row to put either of them back, I think I'll just shrug and walk away from the AE for now. It's become obvious that, despite the efforts of Wrong Number, Bubbawheat and others, the powers that be simply don't care. The battle's just not worth fighting any longer.

I'm having far too much fun with Dragon Age, and far fewer headaches. You guys have fun. I'll be lurking.
I'm really sad to hear this, but completely understand where you are coming from being fed up. I suspect this will get more common as we move forward if actions are not taken.

Even though a couple of my arcs are hanging on for now, I've been out of arc slots for going on six months now. As Eva hinted at, new maps or NPCs are low on the MA want/need list and not so useful to many of us that are out of slots.

I've really hoped that some comments would be made about the numerous critical issues in MA. We have discussed them to death and come up with lots of creative solutions. Some of these, like lowering HoF would be easy to implement. It's hard for me to understand why what many consider a jewel of CoX is seemingly ignored.

  20. A mini-update since I've never seen the numbers drop this low before.

As of right now there are only 6 arcs with over 100 plays and still at 5 stars. This is an all time low with the previous low being 10 (which was at the start of this month).

5 of the 6 arcs have over 200 plays. The 1 with just over 100 plays is one of the post I15 published.

The split is 3/3 with half the arcs coming from 4/09 (the first month MA was released) and the other half all published all after I15 with the oldest published in 11/09 and the newest 2/10.

  21. I've been meaning to do this for sometime since on occasion I get a comment asking about a word or phrase the Firecracker Kid uses during the arc.

A Guide to the Firecracker Kid’s Jargon

Dollars to doughnuts – A certainty. Betting dollars (money) vs. the much lesser valued doughnuts because you are certain of an outcome.

Double Time – To move or cause to move at double time: Very commonly used in the military.

Fritz – Slang term for German soldiers commonly used in WW2.

Half-cocked – To speak or act prematurely.

Hoof it – To travel by walking.

“Loose lips sink ships!” – A WW2 slogan that that meant to remind people to be careful what they said because you never knew when an enemy spy could be listening.

Nancy - If someone is being pathetic you would call them a nancy or a nancy boy. It is the opposite of being hard. For example in cold weather a nancy boy would dress up in a coat, hat, gloves and scarf and a hard guy would wear a t-shirt.

"Son of a Bee Whacker!" – This expression comes from my uncle who I loosely based the Firecracker Kid on. It was his way of not cursing around kids. Bee whacker replaces b***h. I’m not sure if this was his invention or if it comes from somewhere else.

On the QT – QT is short for quiet, to keep a secret.

Hopefully that clears up some of the questions.

Well, I can certainly speak to successful MA promotion. To promote MA I have:

    - Created the MA Arc Finder Channel

    - Created and ran the MA Super Team. For the first six months I was leading the team through MA arcs three times a week.

    - Hosted PERC MA related events

    - Helped with several others to run the Bubbawheat created PC Awards

    - Ran review threads

    - I've also run events to promote my own arcs. For example the "Death to Disco! 400th" that incorporated promoting some aspect of MA too (in that case the MA Arc Finder channel)

I have many, many more ideas for promoting MA including forming a player run MA Promotional committee. However, I've been holding off because of lack of Dev interest in MA and my personal lack of slots despite authoring some of the highest player rated arcs in MA. These have caused my interest in MA and CoH in general to wane. I don't think I'm alone in these feelings.

    WN
  23. I will check it out. I tried this a few months ago and my husband loved it, but I felt that no one would really care enough except maybe for a few of the MA regulars so I stopped after doing 1/2 of an arc. That was part of the problem too, even playing through it quickly took a really long time and I was worried no one (but my husband of course) would hang in there. Let me know how this works out. If it does maybe I will post a link to the one I did.

  24. December 1st update. Lost a few this month.

As of December 1st we now have the following breakdown of arcs with 100 or more plays and that are still rated at 5 stars. Of note this month is that 8 of the 10 arcs have over 200 plays.

Arcs Published Pre-15 - 7 (6 of these were published in April 09)
    Arcs Published Post I-15 - 3

Total Number of arcs out of 69,296 arcs - 10

Put another way: .0001443% of the arcs in the system have more than 100 plays while still maintaining a 5 star rating.

Percentage of current HoF Arcs Published in 4/09 - 100%

    History
    May - 12 (11/1)
    June - 14 (11/3)
    July - 14 (11/3)
    August - 11 (8/3)
    September - 11 (7/4)
    October - 10 (8/2)
    November - 13 (10/3)
