"Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I'm DYING here!" - Han Solo during his first argument with Princess Leia
I had an problem once that did show up in orange error test that drove me crazy. How I finally tracked it down was by doing this:
1) Edit the arc and save it to local as "test123" or something.
2) Exit the editor.
3) Bring up "test123" in editor.
4) Pick a mission and delete it then try to save as "test1234"
5) If that narrows it to a mission go back to the unedited "test123" and start one at a time deleting objectives, then try saving.
If this does not work another approach using "test123" is to delete all but one mission and try to save. If that works delete all but two, etc until you figure out the missions that are the issue. Then compare them and look for commonalities.
Hope that helps.

Bubba,
Thanks very much for the kind words. Happy you enjoyed the arc and thanks for carefully avoiding the spoilers.

P.S. - You are correct about Fred, Zamuel and Backfire's names all came from MA Super Team members. I went through the roster and looked for names that I thought might work for the intended groups. I just couldn't figure a way to fit a Bubbawheat in. -
I17 Update.
- Revamped Steel Guy's costume since several parts of his old costume are no longer available.
- Modified all bios to make it clear that each character represents more than one person.
- Added SEVEN completely new Wannabes. This brings the group to 12 minions, 6 lieutenants, 3 bosses and 1 special boss for a total of 22 Wannabes.
- Changed the level range from 30-54 to 35 to 54 since I felt squishy AT types might have a problem without access to their tier 9 power.
- Change one of the tags from Kid Friendly to Challenging.
- Modified the entire group to have a minimum of 90% exp at level 50. Before I17 all MA custom characters were worth 75% max exp so this is a 15-25% exp boost for across the board.
I don't want to give away all the new characters, but here's one to wet your appetite:

Quote:Did you read what I wrote at the top of the page??? Check out the second post on page four of this and you will find a post by me saying:
So what if some peeps walked away with 1bil, 1000 merits, & 5 LotG's. Grats to them.
"Sadly I just got back from something that I had to do for work that took 2 hours longer than expected. GL to everyone."
The post is time stamped 4:53 (forum time). Cai sent me a note which I got at 4:59 saying no one had won yet and it was going to take people time to figure out. So I logged on Miss Jersey and went to work. I was by myself, an hour late and came in 27 minutes after the first place team. Had I been on time (damn you work!), I would have finished 34 minutes before the team. So, I'm not sure teaming was any great advantage.
In any case, this was an awesome event and as an MA author I know how much work went into it. Thanks Cai, it was loads of fun.

Quote:I started almost an hour after everyone else, ran it solo and was the second to finish. it was certainly doable solo.If I was hoping to win a prize I'd be a bit peeved if a team did it and claimed all the top prizes. Whether it happened or it didn't sometimes the bitterness will be there just because the optics don't look right.
Kinda like being second in line for tickets and then the guy in front of you lets in 7 of his friends before the sales open up.
WN -
I have 1000 merits to spend on rare rolls.
Normally, when I buy stuff in AE with tickets I pick 30-34 bronze because it covers all the good stuff that ends at 30, but catches most of the good higher level stuff, but that is uncommons.
I know many say 10-14 range, but that means no LotG, Miracles or Numina. So I was thinking 35-39. Is this a good choice?

Sadly I just got back from something that I had to do for work that took 2 hours longer than expected. GL to everyone.

Another Update.
It appears that character's with certain "armored" costume pieces like "Chest -> Armored" have lost these and set to defaults. They will appear as they normally did before in the mission, but if you try to edit them their costumes will change to default pieces. What it looks like to me is that some of these were updated making the old versions no longer selectable.

I didn't have anything before, but just published:
Old Dog, New Trick #402429
It's an arc about a PPD Dog becoming a super hero and facing his Arch-rival.

A little update.
I realized that another of my arcs, Trademark Infringement, had a custom with a shield (named American Shield no less!). I checked the arc and he was still there. So, I am guessing now that it is only certain shield types or maybe shields combined with something else. FYI - The Invalid character in my other arc was War Mace/Shield.
I went through all of my arcs in editor and found two of them with the same error. The error was created in both cases by the use of /scale html tag.
This error did not seem to have an effect on the arc's playability, but they will need to be fixed before you are able to make any changes to an arc with this error.

My arc "A Hero in Need...is a Friend Indeed!" #375018 has happily been very well received since I first published it on 2/11. Since that time it had gotten 81 plays of which I would estimate that 65-70 were 5 stars and the rest were 4 stars. To my knowledge it hasn't gotten anything less than a 4. The day I17 was published it got 2 3 star ratings and no feedback. I assumed that it was due and that you can't please everyone so it was bound to happen. This morning I had 2 more plays a 1 or 2 star and a 3 star. Red flag alert! I play through the arc all is fine until I hit the last mission and this:
Ugh! One of my custom characters has become invalid!
I exit the mission and pull up the arc in editor to see:
The really bad part you can't tell from this screen shot is that besides the one invalid custom character, there are two other issues.
1) The big secret boss in the last mission (and another boss) that were set to not autospawn have had that removed. This means mulit-copies of the boss could have been appearing in the missions.
2) The custom group that was made up of dev created recolored/named characters and full custom characters has had all of the dev created characters removed from it.
Though the dev made recolors were still appearing in the mission, I know if I edit the group they will be gone. So I replay the arc, took sceenies of all of them and copy all their bios.
I then edited the group and with the help of the MA Arc Finder channel was able to determine that characters with shields are the ones coming up invalid. I'm not sure if it is all characters with shields or only certain shields. Once the character's shield was redone (it had turned solid black) and went about recreating every recolor I had done. I saved it, republished the arc and did another play through to confirm all was well again.
So if you have either custom characters with shields or recolored/renamed dev created characters in a custom group, check your arc asap.

This arc was originally created by my husband @Jail.bird. He decided to delete the arc for several reasons which was a decision I didn't agree with because I really loved the story. So, with his permission I took the saved files and did a total revamp on it and republished it under @Wrong Number since i had the spot available. Some of the changes I have made are as follows:
- M1-3: Added several new clues
- M 1-3: Added color to mission briefings
- M1-3: Added and modified character dialog
- M1-3: Changed mission level to 30-54
- M1: Changed Ally to Escort To
- M2: Added Defeat Boss
- M2: Added Collection
- M3: Changed Map to a more linear one
- M3: Added EB warning to briefing
- M3: Gave Ally additional dialog
- M3: Tweaked many custom character powers for maximum exp (within reason)

None of my arcs fit your theme, but I can recommend:
Drakule vs. The Werewolf Bikers From Hell #340316
which I think is more in line with your theme.
WN -
I like all of them. Of course the biggest hot button for me is the review system overhaul.
WN -
Now back on subject.
My arcs that were unaffected and give full exp:
The Golden Age Secret of the Paragon Society
Hero in Need...is a Friend Indeed!
Arcs that were hit and now give less than optimal exp are:
Death to Disco! (Many battles in last mission)
Trademark Infringement (Captives)
Have a Blap, Blap, Blappy Day Kids! (Captive and Battles even though they contain no friendly NPCs)
In Poor Taste (Ally and Captive in last mission)
WN -
Chained events are a great tool in MA and can be used in all sorts of ways to make a story more interesting. Some examples from my arcs:
Death to Disco! - Dr. Disco Fever does not spawn to confront the player until a certain amount of Disco Records, 8-Tracks or Cassettes have been destroyed. Classic villain stuff.
The Golden Age Secret of the Paragon Society - A safe glowie containing an antidote does not activate until the person holding the combination is defeated. I also used this in my Blappy arc when the player needed one of the bosses passwords to get into the computer.
Another arc I used chained events to spawn a puzzle type game using destructible objects. The puzzle needed to be correctly done to send the Big Bad away.
I use chained events and enjoy coming up with interesting ways to use them. I have been impressed with ways they are used by others that I may have never thought of myself. It would be crazy to remove such a great tool from MA imo.*
WN
* Note - People may notice I always use imo rather than imho. The reason is my opinions are never humble -
Quote:Another simple answer to this problem is when importing a group always add a custom minion, Lieut and boss. Since custom mobs are 1-50, you will never have 50% experience problems again.
I ran into the same problem with Carnies. I wanted to create a group without the bosses (particularly Master Illusionist who is a squishy's nightmare solo, tons of damage and you can't fight back half the time). I ended up with a level 1-50 Carnie group.
The solution is above. Many of my arcs don't (currently) has the luxury of space.
