Quote:See basically what you're saying here is that Stone Spears sometimes works as a poor man's Levitate. But we're Dominators. We can take the REAL Levitate. Our secondary ought to have attacks that are good for Damage, because our Whole primary is devoted to active defense.I would expect a Seismic Attack set before something like "Earth Blast". There are only so many ways you can throw rocks, but extending the concept to the ground in general could -- with a little creativity -- fill a ranged set. But I digress. I've had no issues with Stone Spears, personally. I really like it, actually, due to its knock up. I've survived some sticky early level situations thanks to it.

Quote:I went to Test and was just reading through the numbers/descriptions.
I am surprised that Stone Spear is actually a "foot stomp with stone spike" coming out. I thought it was going to be like throwing a Jarvelin (like those Rome warriors) or something.
My only concern/question is a lot of /Earth's secondary effect is knockup (one knockdown?) so when Domination is on, does it become a knockback? I hope not because I have a lvl 40 Mind/Energy and one thing I dislike about using Power Push as an attack is that when Domination is on, Push becomes a very serious push. Mind has no -kb. T_T If there is a wall, I'll try to push to the wall but sometimes there is no obstacle and Power Push is pushing way too far. I hope Earth Assault has less of this issue.
Other than that, Earth Assault is pretty much what I anticipated = a heavy melee set.
Domination and Power Boost should not be effecting Knockback. If they are you should bug it. -
Quote:Hurl Boulder appears to be second worst, or thereabouts. You're right! it might even be worse
propel = 3.7 cast, 28.02 DPA
Stone spears*= 2.244 cast, 23.54 DPA
*really wish they'd take the "S" off as it isn't plural
Wavicle is correct afaik when he says Stone spears is the worst st attack Doms get in terms of DPA. In fact it is matched by only one other power iirc - Fossilize. But that is a long duration hold with huge -def and not really an "attack".
Admittedly I'd say propel is still worse in actual use because it locks you out of using anything else for so much longer.
IMO if they want to keep calling it Stone SpearS it should have a little 5ft aoe on it.
Anyway, as predicted earth is a horrid ranged set. I wasn't expecting it to be as bad as it is, but was still preparing for something awful and boy did they deliver. However, it has some of the highest DPA attacks possible in the st melee ones so I think that just about makes up for it.
This set sucks for actually killing stuff before I fall asleep. Good secondary effects tho....that will mostly be cancelled by secondary effects of the primary. -
Quote:Yes, sorry for the confusion. This is the only game I've ever played where people don't use DPS to mean Damage Per cast Second. It is the tier 1 attack so it does ~56 damage. The reason it has crappy DPA and DPS is because it has a 2.1 sec cast time, which is 0.77 seconds longer than any other tier 1.
DPA is bad because it activates slow.
DPS is bad becasue it cycles slower than the others.
My only real issue with the power is that I can't use it while I'm off the ground, so jumping, flying, end of a teleport, w/e. That and it uses the footstomp animation which I personally feel should be reserved for powerful attacks like footstomp, fissure, fault, rather than a piddly spammed st attack. But I raised that issue when it was first announced and even commented on how repetitive an earth/earth build would be with 3 "must have" powers using an identical animation.
The Damage Per Activation Time of Stone Spears is butt because of the animation time. That is what I am complaining about. It makes it the worst lvl 1 attack for Doms bar none.
Again, what is good about it? Anything? Beuler? -
Quote:What exactly is very good about it?It's actually a very good power. You don't fight flying enemies all that often, really. Trust me. Unless you derive your entertainment from fighting custom mobs consisting of nothing but Longbow Eagles, I think you'll live. It's not like you'll have your pick of, oh, 17 or so other powers to neutralize that enemy.
Again, it is the worst DPS level 1 attack Doms get. It is worse than Thorny Darts or Psionic Dart. It is about HALF the dps of most of the level 1 attacks like Charged Bolts or Ice Bolt. The knockup alone makes it very good? -
Quote:"Delete all Emails not containing items or inf."That works fine for inf but what happens to enhancements, inspirations, and salvage? It's much easier to go over the character limit on those items.
Remember in the suggested scenario the person doesn't bother to check his emails before deleting them. It's not hard to believe the person in question won't bother to check if he has room to store anything else, so what happens to those items?
He emails a complete set of LoTG to a character but forgets that it is currently carrying 8 enhancements. So he hits "Get All" then cleans out his email list, and discovers afterwards he only had room for 2 enhancements from the set.
There's got to be a better way to do this than emails. -
Yeah, a really crappy power considering it's being expected to be a core damage dealing attack.
It'd be fine as a level 1 attack in a Control set, like Levitate or Spectral Wounds, but it's supposed to be in an attack set. -

Quote:Earth Assault may be ok for higher level toons, but frankly it sucks at the early levels.Just curious... I thought I16 is in Open Beta now?
Maybe I'll check it out tonight.
Stone Spears is like the worst level 1 Dom attack in any set. It does terrible DPS a can't hit flying foes (wtf???). -

Quote:I can only think of one reason why not right now that has not bemm mentioned.
E-mail Spam.
Do you know how many E-mail I get after one day of not logging in. Whenever I log in, I just press delete 20-50 times just to clean out the E-mail box from RMT (Real Money Traders). I can imagine the following scenario :
1) Log into character and and see lots of SPAM on Inbox.
2) Not bother reading, I delete all the E-mail. 1 of them was an influence transfer.
If one was an influence E-mail, I would have lost millions of influence by not reading the E-mail. Then we would gripe more for losing influence whether it came from myself or even a friend. Even if there is a feature many of us would like to have, there would always be flaws.
Except we could have a button that was "Get All Influence" and you'd press that first and THEN delete all messages. Problem solved. -
Still no Field Hospital or Reputation NPC in Striga Isle, and it could probably use a Merit Vendor too.

I...agree with PP. We should be able to mail Inf and ALL tradeable items to any other character on the same faction on ANY server, including our own characters. Make it institute a fee so we aren't evading the AH fees. -
Quote:Both Spore Burst and Sleep Grenade DO aggro. The only other ones that don't notify to my knowledge are Sleep Grenade from Blaster Munitions Mastery, and Spore Burst from Plant Control.
Using those two as a template, it would be a reasonable guess that any sleep power that does no damage would not notify, but those are the only ones I am sure of.
To my knowledge Mass Hypnosis is the only non aggro Sleep power in the game.
Several non-aggro powers, stackable confuses, Psi only tohit checks, these are the benefits that Mind gets to justify the lack of a pet. -
I just find that on the teams my coalition runs people are usually pretty smart about bringing mobs to walls and corners so that scatter doesn't occur.
-
Quote:It's not the only status effect that can be detrimental. Immobilizes can ruin a teams ability to position mobs. Disorients can scatter mobs by triggering panic AI. Sleeps and Fears and Holds can all do the same as Immobs. It's about timing, mostly.I suppose I'm not a fan of knockback. It's the only status effect that can actually be detrimental, and the only real way to get by is to negate it entirely. If the only way I can use TS is to make sure enemies don't get knocked back first, that defeats the purpose of the secondary effect entirely. I feel that way when I play my Energy Blaster. I feel as though I may have well just gone Fire, because I try to party with Controllers who can negate my knockback, at which point I'm not even contributing anything but damage.
KB is also not only workable by negating it. You can AIM it. Not always easy or possible, but it frequently is doable without much time or effort. You can use your knockback as a very effective tool, both to position mobs for additional aoes, and to keep them off their feet and not attacking.
I admit I wish Dom TStrike was knockdown. -
There is nothing in any of the posts from Posi suggesting that they are changing the requirements for starting any TFs. Only the requirements for entering the zone are being changed, so far as we know. Anything contrary is merely wishful thinking and rumormongering.
-
I don't get that. ET is still incredibly good DPS. Barrage is now good enough to replace brawl as your filler. I really don't see why people hate the set so much, unless they just can't let go of where it used to be.

Level 10s cannot do Dr Qs TF.

Quote:I don't know why people think that Scrappers are likely to get what has gone in Stalker pools. Scrappers and Brutes have much more in common. Shadow Meld and Hibernate were given to stalkers to let them be a little more defensive, Scrappers don't have a defensive weakness the way Stalkers do.I was thinking dissapointing. Mind you, I could find use for the power if it turned out to be a regen/recovery passive. I would rather it be a def power like a clone of shadow meld. I find it cheaper to slot for recharge exclusively then it is to go for recharge and def. This would work well with /regen and res based sets. Unless the 5th power in darkness mastery is shadow meld. If that be the case, then I'd be able to deal with that. Even though I'd rather have to get foc acc or conserve power over pet gaze or torrent. But that's just me.

Dom secondaries are frequently kinda AoE light. Also, the scatter on Thunderstrike can be completely mitigated with area -kb available in most primaries.

No, I was commenting on the difficulty you have managing your endurance before Stamina.
