As someone who has been playing since DaggerFall, I can't wait. It's literally the only fantasy MMO I'd play. Which is good news since I can finally play something with my GF.
Of course, my entire decision still rests on whether or not it has speech bubbles.
So...still waiting on that bit of information before I get too excited. -

More cute generic anime fantasy games yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

Honestly, I just wish the incarnate powers had more "judgement" powers and less "alpha" powers
I'd farm all day for more bad *** uber offensive powers before I'd lift a finger for another "increase a stat by 1%" power. Hybrid included.
Just wish they produced more of a variety of Judgement powers before they released them. -

Before the pictures, DO YOU KNOW HOW ******* HARD IT IS TO GET A SCREEN GRAB OF THE TALK POOL EMOTE. WHY ON EARTH DID THEY DECIDE THAT THE EMOTE NEEDED TO BE MOVING EVERY DAMN SECOND ON A CYCLE THATS 20 TIMES FASTER THAN ANY OTHER EMOTE
*cough* ahem
Artsy!

Quote:Don't forget the Uncanny valley. The closer you get to realism, the less realistic it looks. This can easily been seen in DCUO, and a little big in CO. Their engines and lighting are a higher quality, yet someone make the game look worse, and more fake than even the early art from COH. Especially if you're not running it at the highest setting.Everyone keeps saying they would love an MMO built around some high end FPS engine. The problem with that is it significantly reduces the number of machines that could possibly run it which in turn means you will need a fairly large percentage of owners of those machines to buy the game. And those who don't have the hardware will complain that the game looks ugly when they are forced to crank all the settings to minimum simply to get a playable frame rate at a non-native resolution. One of the reasons for WoW's success was that it played well on the integrated Intel, nVidia and AMD/ATI graphic solutions at the time, that you didn't need an expensive gaming desktop or laptop to play the game.
Couple that with the fact we have total freedom of movement in all 3 dimensions as oppose to the "run on rails" style that many FPS games with modern engines use to hide the fact that many of the buildings are nothing but a facade, a Potemkin village that only looks good from the angles you are allowed to view it from. -
Quote:I might be wrongI don't hold my breath for many reasons. The only way a game called "City of Heroes 2" will happen is if NCSoft develops it themselves. It CAN happen. The SaveCOH may have given them the idea there is potential in there for a new game, and a game done by them, their way, may be marketable in Asia. But it would hold zero resemblance to what we play today, not without the same lead team.
but im like 95% positive that when people say CoH2 they're simply talking about a successor to it, especially post sunset.

Quote:Son those are the kind of damn fool chances that are going to get us all killed.I don't need it. I'm gifted with a certain moral flexibility that will allow me to survive during any kind of societal collapse.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be welding a plow onto a Hummer. -
So who here actually knows parkour?

Just be warned, if you have a lovable side friend, who, while is not an important part of your life, is incredibly funny and relatable there is a good chance that they will die in order to push you on to your future dream.
Just forewarning everyone -

Whoa whoa whoa. I thought we were talking about silly faces.
I have no idea what you're going on about.
And Joss Whedon made Buffy and Firefly.
You could at least get that right. -
Quote:I know, I know. But the MMO itself is drenched in comic book aesthetics. From the word bubbles, to the action bubbles, to the outline option, to the comic sans.CO was designed to be the online version of the pen and paper RPG "Champions".

The idea, in the paper game was to let you recreate any character that you have seen in the comic books, movies or any other media and they succeded fairy well. The computer game try to do the same but it is more limited in that way
It doesn't matter what it's based off of, its a silver age comic book game. -
Quote:Haha Jay, you're really the only troll here. You're being about twice as insufferable as usual in this thread.
Seriously? Look at this suave gentleman!
And here's Romney about to murder everyone on a plane. It even has dutch angles!
And they can't escape, because you can't roll down the windows on a plane.
And thats one of the largest problems in America right now. -

Quote:Fox actually had a right-wingish comedy news show once. For what it's worth nothing's stopping anyone from trying to make a center-right TV show similar to the Daily Show that caters to the "youth vote" with funny material that ultimately paints Obama as "evil". If people like you don't like the Daily Show you should stop complaining about it and support an effort to make something you think is better. For instance I'd honestly think it'd be funny to see a clever "liberal" version of Stephen Colbert. *shrugs*
They ran out of material pretty quickly. -
Quote:which would be a pain in the butt since you would have to download a hefty update every time someone changed something. That's an awesomely cool idea. The Paragon City we're now familiar with would be the base, as the game comes out-of-the-box. And you could add to it. Your own missions, your own contacts, your own NPC groups, your own zones. Or you could change other things you didn't like in the default game, or remove them altogether.
Full scale buildings take a bit longer to load than 16 bit cubes.
Even then, only playing with a scant few friends at a time? eh, I'll pass. City of Heroes without the city full of heroes wouldn't last for me. -
Quote:Yeah, CO is and was designed to be a comic book game and nothing elseYeah...Champions Online is like the cartoon to the City of Heroes movie.
while CoH was merely a "super hero" game that could be whatever you wanted it to be. I've seen people play it as a comic book, a detective drama, or the Avengers Movie. -
depends
usually pvp-only games have minimal...everything else. I mean Exteel had a glorified waiting lobby between matches and once the games start you dont have time to do anything else besides survive.
It's pretty a trivial request
the game looks fun though! and if the customization is as deep as they are proclaiming then I might have to pop in and play -
so basically
its mechwarrior: exteel
interesting
is it just pvp though? that was the worst point of exteel for me, even with my giant hardon for mechs.
I'd love to roleplay as a mech pilot or something to that effect -
I think you underestimate how stubborn corporations are. They would rather burn and bury the IP than risk the chance of someone else making money off of it.
