  1. What Kong says......cuz he has context and understanding into how I think.

    *golf clap*

Bonus points! I hate red side so much I have a 50 of each type, plus doubles and triples of more than one. I can't stop myself!
  2. If that concerned me, I'd gladly whip some up.

If you set up an arc such that a high power solo scrapper is forced to chomp down insps more or less constantly, it means that other than tanks, brutes, and maybe Masterminds your arc could easily be unplayable.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wouldn't that also mean that anything a scrapper can breeze thru would essentially be a snore-fest for a halfway decent team?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Of course, it's always a little more complicated than that. Scrappers have powers that are much more solo oriented than team oriented. Sure, they have the damage to take on AVs and stuff like that, but they don't have the massive nukes to take out overflow mobs that Blasters have and in exchange have more survivability. Scrappers also have better mez protect than most ATs (counting Kheldians).

Depending on your definition of a halfway decent team (which probably includes a tank and one or two defender/controllers when full up), you're spawning more mobs, not to mention higher ranked mobs (I've run Invinc and Unyielding both and unless a MA mission actually has a boss objective, there are no bosses). The Scrapper can breeze through the Mastermind summoned stuff and Controller summoned stuff solo, but on a team, those can start summoning large amounts of mobs that are too many for a Tanker to keep taunted, especially fire controller bosses that may end up locking down your controllers with group holds and even blasters who can't use their AoEs until they figure out and defeat the NPC locking them down.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which is kind of my point. Judging an arc on the basis of "soloable with a defender" is rather arbitrary. It really doesn't tell us much about the arc.

    [/ QUOTE ]
FWIW I solo'd the arc in question with my 48 widow using Diff #2 (same as my Blaster). While the defense is higher (I believe) than an SR scrapper, the damage is far less. The -rch and -spd debuffs do help as you stack enough it messes with the AI and they'd rather run then fight. But they can't.........cuz they're slowed and stuff ain't recharging. >.> I made my last AV a flier and that [censored] took full advantage of it While the Widow's mez protection offers a substantial resistance to Fear, I was never feared that I could tell (no icons from either fear attack popped up). Hell of a lucky streak or defense was playing a part.

I did go ahead and changed the ally from aggressive to defensive; he was blastering away from a longer distance than when I first made the arc even. Hell, I think his range is greater than my actual character Not sure if that popped up with the last patch or not.

Anyway, I'm sticking with the notion "If you're having trouble solo, get help". That's just how I play this game and for the most part, what the Devs intend.

Way more than I wanted to go into.........happy "reviewing"
  5. The easier it is for a scrapper to solo, a team will easily mow through it. My blaster also did not have a problem with soloing it (with a lower diff). I will continue to do MA missions that offer a real challenege compared to the run-of-the-mill snooze-fest found in 99% of the rest of the game.

I will change the description to read "Created for team-play" and will take the Dev stance of "if you're having trouble, get help".

I'm honestly done trying to defend why I did what I did. The pros have vastly outweighed the cons, as well as the people who didn't have such dire problems compared to those that did. If anyone else would like to comment on this particular arc, do so in-game or PM or I'll just consider it noise.

    Cheers
  6. Thanks for trying it. It sounds like you completed it and didn't just steam roll through it? What difficulty did you use? Did you find the custom mobs different to fight than what you fight in the normal game? Did you find yourself having to use inspirations? That's what I want out of my missions. Running through it solo on my Scrapper, I was afraid the mobs were too easy and teams would just laugh their way through it. I've been surprised by the comments....and I like it.

(edit: I have not seen what the latest patch did to my mobs. I will be checking that out when I get time)

As for stars in-game, rate what you think it deserves, not what a badge calls for *shrug*

    [rant]
I really wish people would get away from being negative on AI issues. The ally is NOT necessary, he's there for flavor, on purpose. If I had him as an escort, I would gladly take any negativity about it. But since I know that the AI is wonky (for allies, NPCs, mobs, etc), I chose to not go this route. As for the MM, that's how MMs are. I wanted an MM and he does as is expected (now if he rez'd and/or was using RTTC, then yet again the settings on him were changed and I will gladly fix that).

And no, I still hate public comments/reviews. I'd have preferred a PM to get more details as to what issues specifically you'd have liked to see.

If you think your mission is worthy of being advertised to the general Victory populace, by all means post it in that thread. It's supposed to be a representative sample of the best that Victory can do.

I would like 2 full sets of each purple. I will eagerly bring you all the salvage necessary.

I know that when I look at arcs I've played, sometimes it doesn't show me the "you rated this arc *****" note, even when the other person confirmed receiving the tickets from my rating.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yes, this is definitely a bug. I see this occasionally, where I'll do a few missions and one will not show that I've rated it (even after searching again to update the listing).

    [/ QUOTE ]
Bug or not, what should we recommend people do first? Star first, then comment, then hit "finished"? A different order?

I might be the victim of this bug, or even faulting myself when starring/feedback others, as I've only had one person who's arc I played play mine in response, though I've played 10 - 12 arcs this past weekend commenting via the feedback (and knowing that is going through) *and* giving what stars I think are appropriate for the missions.

I've been trying to keep track through the "# of people that have played your missions" badges but tickets that should also correspond to others playing and rating aren't showing up.

I could care less about the tickets, or even the stars per se, I just want the badges

I also wanted to take this opportunity to say that "What the VuDu?" is an example of a well written / well balanced arc that is also fun to play. I have pointed it out to a few who have run my arc and asked me for recommendations for "not too long, but not too easy" arcs.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Aww thanks bug man. Not sure when you ran it, but I made some tweaks over the weekend to make it more solo-friendly if you aren't a debuffer, but should still offer a challenge. Wish there was a tad bit more customization for power selection for mobs based on solo/team sizes.

[edit] Hmm I say that then see patch notes for Test:
    [ QUOTE ]
Extensively revamped the Custom Critters powers Rank and Difficulty settings. Power selection for custom critters should be better standardized, more flexible and provide finer control over the difficulty of custom critters.

Will have to see if it allows what I was thinking.[/edit]

I'm 50/50 on my procedure in getting the Editor to actually save and update published missions for any charcter edits (text/costume/power changes) and other mission changes correctly. *rolls eyes* FYI, even if the editor *shows* the changes you made and supposedly updated (via the MA channel saying so) your already-published misison.....doesn't mean the changes are actually reflected... yet. I've had similar changes take anywhere from 5 min to 24 hours before the changes actually showed up in-game. FUN STUFF!

    500 Badges

I did the ozone ones before flashbacks gave anything useful out of em I'm really annoyed that they added merits after-the-fact like that.

My badger is closing in on 700. I've not even tried for the epic tier dmg/inf ones because they are beyond nonsensical; Bug hunter because of it's nature; and so far, Dev Choice/Hall of Fame because they, like so many others, are implemented in the dumbest fashion.

Gratz tho. Don't let them take over any of the fun from the game.

    a new joke....

FYI cuz I found this interesting:

    [ QUOTE ]
The mission you are reporting appears to be part of the Mission Architect system and, as such, much of the content is created directly by a player. Because of the nature of the Mission Architect, game support would be unable to advance the mission for you. You can however, quit the mission through the "Architect Options" button in your Navigation bar or with the "Quit Task Force" button found in your Team window.

    [/ QUOTE ]

3 people (out of 30ish) have had a problem with my Forum mission not spawning the last boss at all. I was running it last night with the Cow who had the problem. I petitioned the mission hoping a GM could tell me what was/wasn't happening with that last spawn; my hopes were to learn if the boss *was* spawning but outside the map or something like that. Suffice it to say, I got no response other than the email and I'm a little disappointed.

I've tweaked the mission to avoid the 2 variables that I think may have caused the issue, but I won't know if it's "fixed" for good until someone else runs into the problem

    a new joke....

The leveling has gotten faster and faster. Going to different zones has gotten faster and faster (via the numerous damn TP powers now).

  18. VoodooCompany

    a new joke....

If I were to quote/sig "[With MA mission] You aren't a part of the city and saving it, you're just .... playing [with] yourself in a game" would that be too far out of context to not be accurate?
  19. IDs in the sig-

First is an intro arc to a custom group and should offer you a real challenge while the 2nd is a humor misison for my home server.

I'll gladly run through anyone else's on the weekend, let me know via the feedback for easier listing.
  20. If it's to or about Mental, no need to apologize.

    Ever.
  21. Speaking more for the original content. But even for MA stuff, the layout/spawn placements are random, and mobs still increase per team size. There is a better approach to deliver a story aspect than "defeat all".

Funny enough, just last night we had a defeat all. A particular person chimes in with "gay" IIRC. I had to laugh.

edit: Regardless, this is getting retarded. I don't like Defeat alls. I will skip over any MA arc that I see that has that listed because *I* want to. No one is making MA missions *for* me, so my skipping over yours (general) can't possibily be a big deal. If you (again general) want me to play your arc specifically, don't put a defeat all in it. No matter how hard you want to believe your "reasons" for the defeat all fit in, it will not change the simple game mechanic that I despise and associate with a time sink and as taking away how one can choose to play the mission.

If anyone would like to continue this with me, take it to PMs if you must.
  22. I *complained bitterly* about? lol News to me. I scoffed at it, and I gave my reasons why.

Also, I didn't even try your arc Kong, for the reasons I already stated.

Wait, AND you don't have a good story for it? awesome. Try not to take it so personally.
  23. Sorry Pilgrim, I disagree. If on a team, the map scales/changes completely as well as the number of mobs to defeat. If you want to make your objective "easy", you specify X number of objectives. "Everything" isn't a number.

Regardless, the reason behind the defeat all does NOT make up for it being a defeat all. It's still a defeat all; the "story" reason does not make up or alter the game mechanic. And please don't try to tell me why I don't like something in this game......

    IMO and all that.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Any arc I give a 4 or 5 star rating to in here can be considered recommended.
