BABs has commented that an Escrima type set (re: Dual Blades as smashing with flavor tweaks) would be much more likely than a Bo, Staff, or Polearm based set simply because of the animations.

The reason for this is derived from how weapons are generated as visual effects. They're all only held in a single hand and the location that the weapon is held at will never change. For a polearm/staff set, it doesn't make much sense to have a very close grip on it and wouldn't really allow BABs to generate powers that players would want (you know someone would want to spin their weapon in front of them as an attack). If the grip was spread out, there's no real way to ensure that the second hand will actually be holding on to the weapon while simultaneously ensuring that the weapon won't be bent strangely to the additional hand that it is anchored to (not to mention that it would need to be permanently anchored meaning that you wouldn't be able to shift grip).

If you want an example of this, make a Katana/* character that is as large as possible with shoulders as wide as possible. Enter the game, enter combat mode (re: activate an attack power with no target), and zoom in on your hands. The right hand won't actually be holding on to the weapon. This is because the Katana is actually anchored to the left hand and the right hand is simply in roughly the right spot.
Just thinking out loud: But certain characters use the but of their gun to attack, and it could be similar to how a character with a staff would use the end to smack an enemy. Plus i think the only problem would be holding the staff in combat stance. most attacks could be one hand anchored, with the character spinning the staff in front of him or bracing it against his back while swinging the front end. Maybe even throw in a power where they slam the end into the ground creating a mini shock wave. (again; spit-balling here.) And since all character throw their arms out when they jump just have them hold the staff in one hand like katana.

Probably not as easy as this, but use Dual Blades, turn the hands horizontal and place a staff there
  2. I came up with this idea while waiting outside a mish with one other person, while the rest of the team slowly got to the door. What if we could duel? Only to the low amount of health allowed after a really high fall. This would be a great way to try out PvP without going to a zone or an arena.

Another Idea: my friend plays WoW and he told me characters from opposite sides were allowed to travel around amongst each other and if they were "flagged" they could attack cities and towns and other flagged players from opposite teams. It could be fun to have a way to get to PC or RI rob some banks and destroy some stuff, or take out an Arachnos base of operations and give the opposing side the ability to switch on free roam PvP and defend their side. Of Course this means guards should be vulnerable to attack (like police drones.) Plus we don't want lowbie's getting mowed down by high level invaders which is why being in PvP mode would be a choice and trainers, merchants and mishion givers should be off limits.
  3. Oh, thanks for the grammatical correction. I underestimated how awesome the issue was going to be. These were all old ideas that I thought of when i first started playing. I'm really looking forward to personalizing my characters in ways I only used to be able to do in my drawings of them :-P
  4. Another thought: MA uses mostly kicks, SS and DM use fists but have some powered background. How about a Street Fighting set? punches, kicks, knees to the face and headbutts all combined in a full powerset rather then just as the Combat Power Pool.

    Throwing Set?

The Snakes on Vill side have throwing knives. Also you could add cards possibly and shuriken since the scrappers use those for ancillary sets.

This might give birth to many Gambit makes. I haven't thought through this but possibly bombs as well for a take off the jester in the game Gauntlet: Dark Legacy
  6. I Didn't really look through all the posts to see if anyone had mentioned this. But I thought it would a cool idea to add bow and quarter staffs.

Perhaps even a baton and cane for concept characters.

It's a targeted AoE (or TAoE). PB = Point Blank
I always thought PB= Player Based.

PBAoE's (the powers with a grey circle all the way around it) are great when you dont have a target or you suspect something is there when you can't see it. Or for the instances where your enemy is stuck in a wall or ceiling and you need to kill him to complete the mish.

I find TAoEs (the powers with a grey circle all the way around it, broken in four places by the single target brackets) are best if you want to have a headstart at running when everything aggroes.
