Finally completed Left and Right today. Hope it's up to snuff, but a few things about it bother me. (I'd point them out, but I'm hoping ya'll miss them!) ...and yes, I know that -technically- you should see Right's wing behind and between them, but it just didn't look right with it there...too cluttered.

Anyhow...

Basic anatomy discussion, followed up with how to distort the basics into template forms found in fantasy settings, (hulks, cherubs, sveltes, etc.).

It also discussed extreme posing (such as exaggerated punches and so on), and I think it might've had a section devoted to showing photographs of real-life models demonstrating extreme posing as a reference guide. Hard to recall exactly though.

I'll probably look at picking it up sometime, but that bookstore was out of town, so I'll have to track it down locally all over again.

Still somewhat frustrated with my tablet, and needing both something simple enough to practice tablet-inking on...as well as something to entertain me while helping my daughter with her report on Patrick Henry...

...I grabbed the pencil and decided to practice some various angle/expression portraits.

What we get is Leo, Isa, and Al in pencil.

(Characters are siblings, and make up Chimaera, a VG on Virtue.)

Having just gone looking for this a few days ago myself...

I was told that "Anatomy for Artists" by Barclay was a staple, but when I found the book...it just wasn't what I was looking for. It was ridiculously complex in areas I didn't need, and stupidly simple in parts where I needed complexity.

(I ended up walking out with a copy of Anatomy for Comic Book Artists and Dynamic Figure Drawing (to help with posing, which is my weakness)..)

I suggest firing up the Barnes & Noble website (or visiting a store), and just searching for "Anatomy for Artists" - you'll get about four pages of art/anatomy books (they all seem to have similar names)...but you'll really need to preview them at a store to see if the information they offer is something that will help you, because the range/style of information seems to be -very- different across the board.

That turned out -really- nice! Great job.

Servers/Powersets/ATs are listed directly on the image, under each character...Some names are duplicated (I went through a phase), but the characters are unique...Only the Virtue characters really get played, unless I'm really bored, or it's down.

Characters with * appear in civvies in the login screen, which stinks, because they all have awesome 'working' costumes. Anything not on Virtue could be potentially parted with, if someone sees a name they like.

If you can have little kids being violin or piano virtuosos, I don't see any reason why one can't be a spectacular artist.....beyond the fact that most parents would never set their 7 year-old up with paints and a canvas...

I...um...don't honestly know? I just cropped the character out of the basic game screenshot, then ran 'em down to 600 pixels tall for the piecing-together portion (each character has their own individual set), then slammed the sets together and shrunk it all down to 3000 pixels tall.

No quality alterations or anything. *shrugs cluelessly*

You know, this was looking really daunting until I realized that I could just let the computer alphabetize them all by taking screenies for everyone at login....

Expect a full (yes, full) list later tonight.

I swear I haven't forgotten mine! I've just been....distracted...by other art...and stuff...

Thanks! I was going for "stormish" colors on Kumiko (the Daughter of Storms), although her green/black outfits are Mantis colors *cough*L5R-based-character*cough*

I can't take credit for Phaele's colors, as they're taken from her partner's green/white color choices. *likes them anyway, though*

I think the far right costume of Vixen Valor is my favorite. That's a fresh look I haven't seen before. Very crisp and high-tech "superfuture." (Are those the new costume pieces from the GvE edition?) The first one of The Daughter of Storms is the runner-up. It has a very mystical Far East look. I expect her to appear in a puff of smoke.

The far right of Vix is the Savage tights pattern, and government glasses, which are new in I8. The second of Vix (from left) is the Justice armor (also seen on Ruby Fusion) and is from the GvE edition. (The Sinister pattern from GvE can be seen on the second costume for Sweet Cyanide.) Vix usually fights in costume 3.

...and yes, the Daughter of Storms does, in fact, appear in a swirl of mist. Her entire form is mist of varying degrees of solidity, clothes included. *justifies Invuln because it's hard to hurt non-solids*
