  1. Thanks for the info.

Copied most of the files to another folder in anticipation of that.

Video Card is GeFroce 4 MX
    OS is Windows XP

Sorry for limited technical info, I don't have access to the computer to look at it.

I hesitate to blame the video card because it's worked otherwise fine with CoH for 5 years. Unless it's possibly overheating?
  2. A friend of mine has recently started having a problem. No changes have been made to the hardware but suddenly started getting green lines accross the screen and the game would crash a few seconds after launch. The computer would have to be restarted to get anywhere.

For a while it only did it sometimes and just trying over and over again would eventually work. Recently it's been doing it every time the game is launched. Sometimes instantly, sometimes after a few seconds. Always pretty quickly though.

    Two part question:
    1) Will uninstalling and reinstalling the game likely fix something like this?
    2) If so, will doing so have any negative effect on any AE creations? I assume published arcs will remain published, but will they be editable? Will unpublished material be lost?

    Thanks in advance.

    Impale vs. Focus

I have a 31 Claws/SR stalker who's very close to getting the SC time badge, and I love Focus almost more than my grandmother. I also have a 40 corruptor who's spent more time in Warburg than you can shake a horse-beating stick at.

Impale could have a 5 second animation time and do 1 damage, and I'd still say Impale is better just because of the immob.

Hell i still outta force of habit find myself toggling to hover to attack though it really does nothing.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well, hover does take considerably less end.

but for a year it wasnt an issue until the arenas opened.

    [/ QUOTE ]
For a year it wasn't complained about, then the arenas opened. It was always an issue, it just wasn't a big enough of one to devote resources to. Arenas came around and it became a big enough issue to pay attention to. When the solution for PvP was implemented, there was no reason not to implement it for PvE as well, since the same situation existed in both places, and it didn't require any extra resources.

So they did the "since you all hate it so much" kinda thing, and came up with supression that is like 1000 times worse to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I agree. An insurmountable accuracy penalty would be MUCH better than restricted movement in a power who's sole purpose is movement.

It was fixed awhile ago. It should reach you guys in the next patch or two.

suddenly each and every single miscommunication between Dev's and the Forum community becomes clearly explained.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not really, it was perfectly clear to many of us that the devs have an internal test server nearly two years ago, and people still insist upon misunderstanding.
  6. I know, I was joking...

I don't know why, but "Blood of the Black Stream" has always sounded very "piratey" to me...as in "Aaaargh, we be the Blood of the Black Stream, Matey!"

    Shiver me timbers.

    Pirates of Dark Water?
  8. To my knowledge, nothing has been said about it other than that it's a future epic AT.

If it's been officially said that it's vampyric, that's news to me.
  9. I remember asking blasters to group with me before smoke grenade was fixed, and getting a reply along the lines of "I can kill entire groups of reds without getting touched. Why should I group with you when I don't get anything out of it n00b?"

I remember after smoke grenades were fixed and blasters were screaming about how nobody would group with them, and didn't understand why.

Come to think of it, I remember when being able to kill a group of reds at all was an accomplishment.
  10. I remember when 99% of players didn't take stamina or hasten, and weren't weak.

I remember 40 people standing in a circle around the mythical "lvl 30 hero" oohing and aahing.

I remember when Brickstown had wolves on every corner.

I remember when people discovered the stores.
  11. Caliban was a character in the Tempest. Also the 17th moon of Uranus.

In Scandanavian folklore a "Nisse" is a small, trollish, "household spirit" Other names for nisser are "Tomte" and "Gardvord" (side note and Nordic Mythology appreciation moment: Nisser are described as short and wear red caps with tassels. They are hard working master craftsmen, and require a night time treat on a certain day in December.(except where not leaving santa milk and cookies means you won't get presents, nisser were more likely to just kill you ) When their stories extended into Germany, they were adopted as part of the stories involving St. Nicholas and renamed to a nicer creature that also originated in Scandanavian mythology, Alfen, or Elves. So next time you are looking for a well made christmast gift, remember, Troll goods, best goods. )

    In reference to Malta Titans.
    Hercules is the smallest
The father of Hercules was Zeus
The father of Zeus was Chronos, sometimes spelled Kronos.

There is a movie (and book I think) called "The Warriors" which is about a gang that lives on Coney Island. Throughout the entire movie, they are always getting attacked by other gangs, just like the warriors from Talos Island in game. Spanky's Boardwalk could also be a reference to the boardwalk on Coney Island. They also dress similarly. A trademark line from the movie, said by a rival gang member, is "Come out and plaaaaay." which is often said by another gang in COH, the Skulls.

Nosferatu is a somewhat famous Vampire.

Back when they were the 5th, this made a little more sense, but the real Nazis were involved in occult research, looking for a weapon to use against the Allies. Seems the COH version found that weapon in the Vampiri and Warwolves.
  12. I'd vote on a list of potential features, but the 80%+ of the total players that don't come to the forums wouldn't.
  13. Yes, I did, all you posted was definitions for words. After I replied, you went back and provided very, very, simple explanations to how it applies to COH, but still haven't really said anything about what these Epic ATs would be like.

Neither gazelles nor Greek or Roman goddesses have wings, so I don't see the connection there. Nor do I see what the -lax part of the name has to do with the suggested "ethereal angellic" AT.

As for "Incarnate", that's extremely vague. "Good Incarnate" or "Hero Incarnate" could have any powers. What sort of stuff did you have in mind?
  14. So, a negligent gazelle and <nothing> personified?

(<nothing> because you didn't say what incarnate. your example suggests evil, but umm, City of Heros)

Forgive me if I don't see the attraction.
