  1. I don't think your numbers are correct, though it is possible I am not understanding them.

Currently the xp gained for defeating 1 mob decreases as you add people to the team. This is supposed to be offset by the added team members allowing the team to fight tougher mobs and more of them. Great theory, but it doesn't work.

And you can thank your complete and utter disaster, 'Vision' inspired purple patch.

The xp drops off so fast once you add that 4rth person to the team that there aren't enough mobs to fight to overcome that group xp penalty. It only gets worse as you add the 5th thru 8th. Pre-purple patch you could keep stepping up the difficulty of the mobs, post purple patch you (yes, you Statesman) have told all players that they shall not fight +5 and higher mobs.

So what is the players response? No large teams because the xp sucks rocks because the team cannot continue to fight harder and harder mobs. People solo and duo with the occassional trio for the best xp.

Congratulations, in the most bass ackwards way possible you succeded with the purple patch. You slowed leveling to a crawl with large teams. But that purple patch bred the problems you are now addressing with nerfs. Please just admit you made a rookie mistake and roll the purple patch all the way out. Allow players to form large teams to fight deep purple mobs.
  2. Wepps, you don't need to worry about influence for your level 32 upgrades. At level 30 you will notice a decent increase in the amount of influence you are recieving. At 31 it takes a big jump. That plus the amount of xp needed to level will ensure you have plenty to afford your entire set of level 35 enhancements when you hit 32. And influence only comes faster past 32. You will be able to afford to give away millions soon.

    - How long before the first EVRY HERO NEKKID MOD? Remember what Richard Garriot(?) said to Statesman, "first thing players do if they can move stuff is spell f**k"

    [/ QUOTE ]

I wouldn't think that would matter. The potential problems by allowing people to distribute copyrighted images on their forums I can see, but who cares if someone wants to make CoH full of nekkid pr0n stars? The mod only makes it visible on the comp it is on.

I know AC had a few mods like this, one that turned people into aliens, one that gave them real peoples faces, and one that made female avatars naked. No biggie, just don't post SS's.

After seeing client hacks destroy Asheron's Call I'm glad to see Cryptic taking a firm stance early on.

One thing's for certain about the hack community - give 'em an inch and they'll take a mile. Cryptic can't stop the hacks entirely (check an above post about moving to the Vault) but the Dev's at least won't condone the mods here.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There are very few client hacks in AC. Those were done with a hex editor that removed restrictions on actions. I remember being able to cast 'other' buffs on myself once upon a time. It was handy to demonstrate it to a sent and it got fixed in the next patch.

    GEAR isn't a client hack.
Decal isn't a client hack and none of the decal apps are client hacks.

Decal did way more good for AC then bad. And it kept it in the open. Devs could see the majority of the apps and even said which ones they didn't like and which ones would get you banned for using (remember Revenge, the one that spammed tells to someone?).

The stuff Cryptic just stated as against the ToS aren't client hacks. Most of them are purely graphical, like the skins for the AC client are. Map patches and removing looping sounds and graphical changes (I like my new assualt rifle look) are great. Anyone comes up with a mod to rework the GUI and make it better (the map becomes translucent, the enhancement screen is no longer full screen) I will use them.

umm...you guys realize that they are adding controls for loops/particle effect..as well as stores on maps in patches soon right?

..or am I stil lthe only one who listens to what the devs say

    [/ QUOTE ]

Everything is coming 'soon' for CoH. There is a mountain of goodies coming 'soon'. That is just how it is with Cryptic. Nothing has been delivered yet, but just pay that next months subscription because it will all be here 'soon'.

Soon after launch, it quickly became clear that it was still too good. We neglected to consider that Hasten Hated itself, which was allowing players to keep it on all the time. I dont have a problem with it being on all the time, but I do have a problem with it being on all the time with only a handful of DO Enhancements. So we were wrong. It was not working as intended. Accelerate Metabolism was only adding to the problem. So we made a change. If needed, we will be happy to make another change.

Nobody lied, and no promisses were broken. Anything in the game is subject to change at any time. More changes will come. I appologize if I didnt put it in writing that I will not lie, but if that will somehow help, then ok:

    I will not lie.

I am not sure what you are looking for, or what can be said that was not already said.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That is what I was looking for. An explanation (you gave it), an admission that you farked up/were wrong (regarding earlier statements, not your current position), and a statement that you aren't gonna come to these boards and feed us a bunch of crap.

If that was there from the day the patch was first propped, I wouldn't have had much to say about the whole deal aside from the respec issue.
  7. The Devs knew how good it was in beta, because lots and lots of people told them how good it was. They were specifically asked if it was going to be changed for retail because it was just that good.

The answer geko gave? "It is 100% working as intended and will not be changed".

And they nerfed the snot out of it barely 2 weeks after that statement. Why? And why no "we farked up, we admit it"? Why no "Here is why we made the changed, despite what we told you"?

I place honesty from the Devs way up the list on what will keep me paying and playing. It didn't even make Geko's list of things he would do. I hope it was an oversight
  8. I don't see how it wasn't a balance issue in beta and became one in two weeks. Either way, and explanation would have been nice, coupled with a "we farked up, we admit it".
  9. [ QUOTE ]

So, with that said, let me give you my 10 Commandments of Geko:
*I will always listen to the community (that goes for the boards, in game, and thru mining data and statistics).
*I will not be scared to be wrong.
*I will react as quickly as possible, but not sooner than needed.
*I will not be scared to be unpopular.
*I will not make a change to the game simply because it is popular.
*I will do my best to continue to make this game fun.
*I will not intentionally stealth nerf.
    *I will not reduce Accuracy.
*I will try my best to give you detailed information.
*I will make Statesman wash my car.

(well, 9 out of 10 aint bad)

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Why isn't this on there?

*I will not lie to the players

    or

*I will be honest at all times regarding CoH game systems and mechanics

Obviously there are some things you aren't allowed to reveal, so the appropriate response would be "Not allowed to answer that". I think all rational people can accept that answer. I would hope people wouldn't ask for the why of it and just accept you have limits to what information you can dole out.

    BUT

It is entirely unacceptable to say "100% working as intended, will not change" and then change it barely two weeks later. I think it is unacceptable to change it ever, without explaining the reasoning behind the change but that is just me.

Just please treat us better then you (Cryptic) did with the TF and nerf patch and I will resubscribe. I like this game, I plan to play it for a long time if I am convinced enough to resubscribe.
