  1. Any given power set from any other archetype can be run many ways. Focusing on AE, Single, emphasizing your control stuff or not, defense vs offense in power picks along the way.

The pet sets kind of create their playstyle and hold you to it, with all the mandatory picks slimming down what else you can take to the bear essentials. The nature of the sets, cramming three pets, two buffs, and a three attack group, is just not conducive to variety. It is my opinion that this should be a dev focus for providing whole new sets, as well as sets in different spirits such as a melee primary with a majority of close combat minions and a trio of close combat attacks for yourself instead of ranged ones.

Shield defense is a good starting point. IMHO You've already got the groundwork for passive AE buffs in the shield set that could be combined, the cool shield charge move, disorient bash, a simple one-two attack combo with a set weapon type. Or just open up the other hand to 'any' one handed weapon graphic. Why restrict it when the shield can do all your themed moves and the other hand just needs to hit things?

    Your Blasters...

Always wanted to do electric melee and assault rifle but didn't like the combo itself. Nothing felt 'right' when paired with either, not even both together. Now I come back to the game and find a new subset for blaster that I love, and dominator has /electric with three melee moves. XD

    Win.

My main, VKhaun, is now an AR/MM blaster on Freedom. I think I hit 9 last night before work. Having trouble logging in right now... gives me a firewall error but I don't use one. I was headed for bed anyway. hopefully things work when I wake up and I can try and get my concentrate+sniper shot tonight.

Not sure what to do with my primary set on my dom.
New thread for that though don't want to hijack.
  3. When I left we still had the defiance thing, where as we took damage we got more damage to send back. Now I see each power has a small damage increase associated with it. Playing my new lowbie blaster (LOVE LOVE LOVE the mental subset list.) I find any given power's bonus is short and that I usually can only stack up two such bonuses at a time. Controlling and utility powers seem to have much larger bonuses then standard attacks.

So, just out of curiosity, does anyone actually CARE about their attack order? Are there any combos that shine as being a good loop for constant high +% on damage? I love doing subdual on a runaway, then catching up for a telekinetic thrust to put them airborne for a nice skeet shoot with slug on the high +% damage from the two control-ish powers.

  5. When I start up my CoH updater through the PlayNC launcher or direct through STEAM's non-steam-game shortcut path, I don't even get the web screen on the updater. It's just a black box with the empty progress bar at the bottom. It says "Connecting' #1... #2... #3... and never connects.

Front page shows servers as up.

Worked for me last night before work. (I work nights)

    What gives?
  6. Just got the game back this last friday (boosted xp was a coincidence) and when I first got on Freedom it was near unplayable. Teams I joined as I checked out my old alts all disbanded after one mission because they couldn't really play. Loading onto the server and switching characters took a long time and costumes did not load, just black blanks of my characters standing there at the selection screen.

This improved dramatically for me after the downtime and it was quite playable. I even bought the magic booster and was logging in and out and remaking a few lowbies before I settled on one to play for a while, with no connection issues at all.

what does development tea taste like exactly?

I think this is a very good point that has been overlooked.
I am also curious as to the taste and possible extra effects of development tea.
  8. Super speed. ZZZZZZZZZZOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmm mm

    Wuwuzat? O_O

Super jump + Super speed is good good times.

If your still reading this thread Lighthouse, I agree 100% with what you said about trying to hit buildings and other terrain features on just the right spot. Did you ever play the old Megaman Ledgends game on Playstation? I rented that one night out of pure boredom and got some slidey-dashy-skatey leg attachments, and had a real blast just flying through the game just jumping off of things. That sort of speed and freedom didn't exist anywhere else until I tried CoHeros and got combat jumping+Hurdle. I think that early experience jumping and running around in galaxy city and atlas park are a big part of why I even stayed with CoH among the other options.
