For me, I don't write a thing unless they are spectacularly good or woefully bad.
I'm just grateful that I can't see what notes others have written (about me or whoever I'm looking at. ) -
I see some names that I recognize from way back. Wish I could have been there. Tonight's my last night, maybe unemployment will allow for more attendance in the future.

Quote:I plan on starting on Gold side. With the new tutorial giving you a choice as to whether you want to be a hero or a villain which side are you going to do said regen brute superteam.
Upon level 20, I am leaning towards going to redside. Red side is a brute's natural habitat. But the good guy in me leans towards the blue. So, I'll head there after 50, regardless. -
Quote:I might suggest a faster way. Perhaps not easier, but definitely faster.A buddy of mine just got one of these with Hero Merits. I think it cost 35 and not 30. He chose to earn all the merits rather than buy any of them, so it took him 70 days of doing 5 Tip missions per day. If you have enough regular Reward Merits, you can buy a Hero Merit for 50 Reward Merits and 20 Mil, so you can increase to getting 3 every two days, so you can earn/buy one in 12 days.
I've saved up about 12 Hero Merits on one character so I'm thinking about doing it myself. (I'm too cheap to spend 2-3 bil on one enhancement, but I don't mind taking the time to earn one over a long period of time.)
Use 2 hero merits - buy either a miracle or 7.5% global recharge from the Lady Grey defense set.
Sell either one for 200 million. Do this 10 times.
Take your 2 billion and buy what you need. This way, you only need 20 hero merits instead of 30.
It should save you some time.
Oh, given the cost of trading on the markets, you might need 22 merits instead of 20. -
Quote:Well, that is a mystery revealed. Thanks! No, the slider is only useful for DIRECT PURCHASES. It never has any effect of any sort on rolls. The group of recipes that you can get is determined by the category you roll in; that's why there's 10-14, 15-19, etc categories.
Now that you explain it like that, I am left wondering why I didn't put that last piece of the puzzle together myself.
Thanks again. -
I must confess. I get mixed up on this every other time I opt for the random recipe roll in Fort Trident.
Why am I allowed to slide the level indicator to level 30 when I'm level 28? I wanted the level 30 IO recipes - and they gave me level 28 recipes - except for the one that isn't available until level 30.
If I wanted level 28 IO's, wouldn't I have slid that slider to level 28? Why does it even allow for movement if it defaults to whatever level the toon is on?
I just don't get it. Who would want any recipe that wasn't 25, 30, 35, 40 etc.? More importantly, why would they want it?
I guess I've got to remember not to trade merits in except at levels 25, 30, 35 etc. -
Matt,
You raise a good question. The simplest answer I can give is that I have no idea.
****************
Busy people will find the following an unproductive waste of time. Bored people, however, are urged to continue.
******************
There may very well be some things the group won't be successful in doing. However, my thinking is that on any given team of 8, when some of those teams have a debuffer, that particular toon may only be doing somewhat less than average damage.
Although a brutes base damage may not be in the class of a blaster or scrapper - with enough fury, it should be able to get there, or even pass it.
Given that premise, I'm thinking that a brute's fury will overcome the regen rate of just about anything in game, except maybe Hamidon(with mitos) and it's silly little range/melee/hold requirements.
If I could pull out a regen brute along with 7 others and find out, I would. As it stands, this is a question that will be answered when 21 hits. I'm not wasting my game time to play around in Beta or test, leaving a toon with time invested in it in beta/test limbo.
(this is what you get when you choose a leader who is selfish with his time)
Questions on this topic are not only welcome, but encouraged. I am NOT the brightest bulb in any bunch. Be prepared for disappointment. However, I can promise at least one stale joke each outing. And, if life finds me busy, I'll just tell the same jokes over again. (Hey, people are still watching repeats of all kinds of shows - the same lousy joke might get funny after awhile, who knows?)
As for the villain group name - I was thinking of something like
Ill-tempered Toddlers. (hyphen optional)
Disgusted Caesers
Questions? Comments? Derogatory remarks? -
So, they want me to lead.
Silly people. They should know better.
Anyways, since this has been dropped in my lap, I figured, before I get all crazy dictator like, I'd seek some input from those that would join in this */regen brute foolishness.
First, a time should be established so that people will know if they can participate, if they decide to do so.
I am thinking of a 2 night per week run. Once on Tuesday, Once on Saturday.
Tuesday 9:00pm Eastern
Saturday 10:00pm Eastern
I think it would be good to go gold, then red, and then blue if the team would prefer it.
Now, I'm accepting submissions for the name of the VG. I anticipate having one started before Issue 21 hits, then the toon that makes it will drop out, leaving the lead to some of the */regen brutes.
I'm liable to pick something loopy like House of Donuts or something like that unless I get some suggestions from you good people.
I suppose, I should get a rough idea as to who's interested in this before I do anything else.
So, who's in? -
Be careful what you wish for.
<insert eerie laugh from Vincent Price in Michael Jackson's "Thriller" here> -
-
I couldn't possibly pick a time - yet. Let's wait until the issue hits. Besides - everyone knows you're the superteam leader. I lag and page load far too slowly to be burdened with such responsibilities.
-
Don't ya just hate it when real life gets in the way?
Seriously, so far, it's going to be at the time you say if noone else chimes in. -
Historically, these have taken place on weeknights, around 8pm Eastern time. Still, those times are not cast into stone.
Forgive me, it was an impulsive post - I'm sure if it will be done, we'd want to take a peek and consider how durable a regen brute would be during the teen levels as well as the 20's, 30's, and 40's. (Everything is durable pre-teen)
But given that the primary sets I'm familiar with have a self-heal, I wouldn't think they'd be too dependant on buffs and debuffs to get through most of the games content.
Some of you may know - I'm about to be unemployed because the folks I work for say they're not making enough money. (this should be a lesson for me - never drive a car nicer than your boss)
So, I should have all manner of free time, at least until I find something else. That being the case, I won't express a preference for any time.
Anyone else have a time preference? I think it should start on the gold side, then, everyone should go red side - and then go blue side. Just my two inf. -
What? Did you say it was time for another Liberty Superteam?
That's what I thought you said. -
Ok, so you want a trial.
First, a couple of friendly tips.
Tip 1. Instead of waiting around for 45 minutes, try recruiting. (using the LB, LFA and Sisterhood Channels)
And I do understand that the server population doesn't always lend itself to doing a 12 man trial. I can only assume that these times are when you're on.
Still, what times of the day are you on? I might be able to help you out.
Well, Hazy beat me to Tip 1. As for my second tip, that was basically me asking what time of day you're on, so the rest of us can know if we can help. -
Quote:Thanks. I am a bit uncertain about it, as LFA (which Matt is a mod on) doesn't mention it at all, and LB says that Matt is leading it. (@its me matt).According to the LB MOTD, there is a hami raid tonight at 9 pm est
Still, it'll be worth showing up just in case. Thanks again. -
Aerik,
I do appreciate your perspective. Thanks for the link.
I do enjoy a speed run - from time to time. I even like an almost speedy run from time to time.
But, for the most part, I prefer to do things at what I would call a normal pace.
There are different preferences for different folks.
Some of my toons I know very well. I know their strengths, and their weaknesses. I know that my blaster has no status protection. When solo, I can use my bitter freeze ray followed by freeze ray to get the jump on whatever mezzers there are. In a speed run, most teammates are scrambling around so fast that ol' Rex is on his own. When the Breakfrees run out, they're out, until I can combine three of some other kind of insp.
Other toons, I leveled to 50 back in 2005 or 2006. But, I only play them sporadically. This is yet another reason for me to pass on most speed runs. -
Well, I will park my toon there to oversee this festival, but I myself will not be there. It seems a shame that I have to miss this for work, but a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.
-
Server status page says the servers are up, yet they are not.
Aren't computers just lovely? -
I guess I was just missing the old days when a real savvy tanker by the name of Everything Nice would herd up the entire circle of skittles and a couple of us blasters would just take turns using our nukes to blow them up. Even back then, the colors, graphics were just ...amazing. This run was over before I could even see three colors.
But you're wrong, Camo. I may not have felt physical pain, but it did cause me some disappointment. I felt like my time was wasted, because I didn't get the experience I expected and had hoped for.
But, that's life in the big city. I suppose I should be overjoyed that Liberty had the population to be running not only the Eden trial, but there was an ITF and a BAF also forming at the same time. That's a lot of activity for non-prime time. -
Last night, I did the Eden trial with a global buddy, a few others who I've teamed with before and some who I didn't know.
I've done this trial several times in the past, although most were pre-2006.
I've always enjoyed this trial. It was the first time that the game introduced allies to me in game. Slade, Gale, Quill and Tundra. NOTE: It was the first time I recall seeing an NPC as an ally. They might have been in the game before this trial, but I don't recall seeing them until this trial.
In any event, we used to follow a fairly straightforward method to succeed. Either defeat the first quarry or lead him into a hole, get through a couple of walls, collect some ambrosia, tackle some Lichens, clear a large bunch of skittles (a bunch of Devouring Earth critters) free some heroes and then tackle Titan.
This effort usually took us about 2 hours. This latest effort took less than an hour and I'm stunned. I feel cheated. I got twice the merits in half the time - but there was no "fun". I had 6 ambrosia and never even saw the titan. I was clearing the skittles from around his large post, and then the reward table popped up.
I never realized that there was a "speed" option for the eden trial.
I do understand the need for speed. Some folks want to be efficient and move on to the next challenge. Some just only have so much time before they have to log. I get that, I understand it, I really do. But what's the point of doing this brilliant trial in 30 minutes? Shouldn't there be a comment at some point, asking if folks are ready to tackle the big monster?
This speedy trend is taking some of my joy of this game away. When you're on the server, and you see all these folks that are on a mission map, and you're wondering why it's so hard to find a team - it could very well be because of instances like this one. You may have had absolutely nothing to do with someone's less than savory game experience - but because of it, I will likely solo more often because I can do so at my own pace, rather than at the pace of someone in a rush.
Mind you, in some cases, I don't mind a speed effort. A kill all ITF is going to be quite lengthy and likely dull if not teamed with some silly or funny people. But, c'mon- 20 minutes for a task force? That's not efficiency, that's a personality disorder.
Just my two cents, folks. Slow it down, and try to enjoy the game. -
I do arcs all the time. I typically don't do any tfs until that toon hits 50. Arcs are how I get most of my reward merits, also.
-
Quote:Some excellent points. <sigh> I guess I'll have to re-sub my second account before it expires, just in case. And that's why I'm very seriously considering starting a 3rd account before this starts to snag VIP status on it. I'm almost maxed out on slots now, but have been reluctant to start a new account due to the vet reward lag. However, it sounds like under the new setup I can purchase the rewards I want/use and catch up on the new account.
As to staying or going, I prefer small servers and the enjoy the folks playing here. I plan on staying on Liberty provided both those conditions remain. I'm guessing the new VIP server will turn out to be more Freedom-ish than Liberty-ish in size and flavor. I'm also hoping that Liberty's smaller server size will buffer it against the more unpleasant aspects of F2P.

Well, I'm looking at it as a seriously extended free trial period for those that, for whatever reason, can't or won't pay.
The pay to play server fills me with a zillion questions which just can't get answered until it goes live.
I wonder if it's a "newer" server, with more power and resources that just might allow for a full league MSR without lag.
I don't think they'll allow us to transfer the base, but I suppose for a "VIP", anything is possible, such as the prestige transfer you mentioned.
I am also wondering how the populations of the servers will be impacted.
As for me, my sub just renewed for 6 months. I'll be able to take a peek and see if it's worth the money. I've already gone on record as saying that the game never needed any new content, the game was fine as it was. Maybe now, I can save 15 bucks a month and still have my fun. I have a hunch though, that I'll miss out on a host of badges if I don't keep paying.
