  1. I'm hopeful they've fixed the no power awarded when SK'ed issued when the Aspect Gm is taken down.

    Thank you for the time...

I actually posted it in General Discussions shortly after I got the newsletter. AFAIK, there hasn't been an official forum announcement yet.

    Thank you for the time...
  3. I'm apart of a Elemental Dragons theme group on Liberty.

Link to original post about the group. We try and meet on Thursday nights from 7-9ish Central Time.

Global is in the Sig, if your interested.

    Thank you for the time...
  4. Um... ZM...

_Wyll_ was refering to a fan contest Bubbawheat was running, not the official one.

No offense GG, but honestly how many higher up Characters are gonna want to hand the star off to the lowest member of the team they've formed just to make sure that everyone gets the pop-up reward? I'm not suggesting it's a bad idea, but the overall effectiveness of the team isn't gonna make up for getting everyone the Aspect GM award.

I feel this problem "should be" resolved before the event goes live. I personally don't have a 50 and if what happened on test is any example of what'll happen on the Mains, a lot of Characters are gonna get screwed out of those powers.

    Thank you for the time...
  6. My only problem (and the only reason I logged on) was to see if the bug of not awarding a power after the Aspect GM is defeated while SK'ed was fixed.

    It was not FIXED!!

If this goes live on 10/20 as is, I might as well wait till next year to enjoy this part of the event. I can imagine the howls of non-Level 50 Players complaining about this if it doesn't get fixed.

Otherwise, I liked the tweaks to the UI when the Aspect shows up. The measurements are a little off, but it's a nice addition to finding the beast.

    Thank you for the time...
  7. Just got a e-mail in stating the running times for the Halloween event:

    Quote:
Brace yourself for the apocalypse as our annual Halloween Event returns to City of Heroes® ! Legions of Zombies, Werewolves, Jack-o-Lanterns, and other foul denizens are preparing to descend upon Paragon City™ and the Rogue Isles™. This year they're bringing even more powerful allies! The apocalypse is deadlier than ever as mysterious monstrosities are joining forces with the Eidolons, Shivans, and others. Paragon City and the Rogue Isles could be in terrible peril, and only the greatest Heroes and Villains can turn back the tide.
    - Starts: Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 8:59 a.m. PST (11:59 a.m. EST)
    - Ends: Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 11:59 p.m. PST (2:59 a.m. EST)
So it will be starting before Hero-Con!

This should be a interesting two weeks...

    Thank you for the time...
  8. Just ran through "OMG, it's the LOLBAT!". It's ok.

I liked Croc Pot's minions though. Using the Science Pack's Lab coat for a Chef's jacket, very nice.
Overall though, it's a solid Arc. One warning though, Monsier Ronguer is a Extreme set thug MM. Not sure what Secondary he has, but throws everything out at you if you're not careful.

    Thank you for the time...

    Umm... No.

I was getting Halloween Salvage with a full Invention Salvage bin. My only issue was getting no BAB Gloves.
I got 3-4 Hamis, 3 Recluse, and 3 States over the course of about 35-40 ToT doors in Brickstown.

    Thank you for the time...

A howling wolf sounds in the night and players are alerted, via Global Alert, that the event is happening in a City Zone (Trial Zones, Hazard Zones, PvP Zones, and Co-Op zones do not have the event running in those zones).

As the Halloween Deadly Apocalypse occurs in a zone, the sky changes to a different color.
    • If the Deadly Apocalypse Event is not already running in a zone, Costume salvage redemption at Annah / Granny Beldam has a chance to trigger the Deadly Apocalypse event across all viable zones
    • 4 Haunting Banners (destructible objects) appear across a zone, but are surrounded by a magical barrier (they appear on the MiniMap)
    • Each Haunting Banner is protected by one of four Haunting Defenders/Ambushers who protect the magical barrier
    • There is a chance that Elite Bosses appear as Defenders, depending on the size of the group
    • Players must defeat Defenders (of each "type") before the magical barrier goes down and they can attack the Banner itself
    • If all 4 Haunting Banners are destroyed before the timer runs out, an Aspect of the Sigil (Giant Monster) appears
    • If all 4 Haunting Banners are not destroyed before the timer runs out, the Aspect of the Sigil does NOT spawn and the event cleans itself up
    • If either condition is fulfilled, the event cleans itself up

    NOTE:
    • Players who are within 250 feet of a Banner will have their User Interface (UI) taken over by the Event UI which shows the timer and their status
    • If players travel outside of the radius of the Banner, the UI goes away
    • UI displays a progress bar which shows how close they are to defeating the themed type of mob
    • The status of each Haunting Banner is represented by an Icon in the Event UI. When all Banners appear in the zone, they are shown in the Event UI. Once a particular Banner is defeated (i.e. Transparent Terrors), its representative icon is “blacked out”.
    • The Red Progress bar indicates how close the player is to bringing the Banner to “vulnerability”. As blue creeps in and takes over, that shows the player is making progress towards making the Banner vulnerable.

If the Players do not manage to defeat all four Banners in time, the Giant Monster will not appear and the event will clean itself up. The Player will be alerted to the end of the event because the zone will revert to "normal" and a closing sound effect will sound.

    Badges

The following badges can be earned by participating in the Deadly Apocalypse (Halloween) Event:
    • Dark Fiend - participate in defeat of Dark Fiend Banner
    • Hell Hath No Fury - participate in defeat of Women Scorned Banner
    • Terror - participate in defeat of the Transparent Terrors Banner
    • Monster Masher - participate in defeat of the Monster Mayhem Banner
    • Monstrous - participate in the defeat of the Aspect of the Sigil Giant Monster
    • Hell and Back (Accolade) - receive Dark Fiend, Hell Hath No Fury, Terror, Monster Masher, and Monstrous badges to earn this Accolade
Of every thing I've seen with the '09 Holloween Event, I generally like.

All was run with a Lvl 35 Katana/Fire Scrapper (So I was SK'ed in every team I was in...)

    Quote:
    • We hope you have enjoyed the 2009 Halloween Event Test, and are looking for feedback in the following areas:

    *******************************
    • Are objectives clear when the Event is running?
Wasn't too bad. Didn't know about the specific defenders though until I looked at this posting. Something to remember...

    Quote:
    • Are rewards being handed out correctly?
    • Are all badges awarded correctly?
    For the most part.
Missed the Aspect GM on the first team I was apart of, but I don't think that's a issue.
Got all 6 badges for this one by the time I was done with the third go around. (missed the GM 1st time, Got DC'ed when Atlas Crashed the 2nd time...)
I did get XP/Inf/Prestige/Merits on each GM Kill I was apart of, but did not get any Temp Power or Insp. I did get the Reward pop-up and was able to select, but no reward was given. I believe that there is a bug reguarding this, so I've said my piece on this matter...

    Quote:
    • Are there any problems with the event occurring in any City Zone? (Note: The event will only be present In Paragon City or the Rogue Isles City Zones, and not in any PvP Zones, Hazard Zones, Trial Zones or Co-Op Zones)
Since I ran only hero side, I can't say I had any particular issues with this.

    Quote:
    • Are there any graphical effect bugs?
    None that I can see...
    Quote:
    • Do banner icons appear correctly on the MiniMap when the event is running?
    • Do waypoints correctly appear when the event is running? (Note: Navigation waypoints of active Missions orient players to the Halloween Event objectives when a player’s character is near one, and should disappear when they leave the area.)
The banner Icons came up after a 10-15 second delay of the transition effects. But they did show up on the mini-map just fine.
The waypoints also worked as intended.
    Quote:
    • Are enemy NPCs appearing at the appropriate level? (i.e. a Level 50 should be able to fight side-by-side with a Level 5 character).
In my first outting, I was unteamed, but as far as I could tell, the spawns were running GM Code.

    As to the ToTing...

    I like the changes.
The fact that you earn Costume Salvage off of Critter Defeats should help with the Click and Running that was happening the last couple of years.
I slao liked the fact you could face Bosses when Solo as well.

    Thank you for the time...

    Bolded for point...

Kinda sucks though. I wanted to submit my one arc for both best hero and best villain group.

Still haven't decided which one I'll put it into yet...

    Thank you for the time...

I tried to make up for it by fetching him beer and snacks, and during double XP weekend I ensured he had all he needed to keep on killing.

Anyways, he felt I would really like it and the more questions I asked about what I was seeing over his shoulder, the more confident that I would indeed enjoy the game.

Sooo....He bought me a copy of the Good Vs Evil edition, paid for a year's subscription fee, installed the game on my computer, and even bought me a new video card and power supply when it was found my computer was lacking in that respect...all the while I was yowling like a scalded cat that I did not want to play.

I finally caved in because he had spent all that money...for the video card, he went to Best Buy and asked the salesman which video card he would install in his mother's computer if she were to take up City of Heroes....it was not cheap.

And, I decided this was something we could do together.

That was almost 33 months ago, actually, 33 months at the end of this month!

Those who want your wives and giirl friends to play.....beware.....she is going to want to kick off her shoes, and play the game upon coming home from work...your house or apartment will never be sparkling clean again, you will start to eat more take out, you might have to take up doing laundry, and she will wake you up in the early hours of the morning with a simply wonderful idea for a toon

    Lisa-Looking forward to Blackwand
What was bolded is no joke. Again, not that I mind...

For the love of all thats holy, what the freaking hell is up with people who emply ******* 'Artisitc Liscence'? I'm an artist, that doesnt mean I run roughshod over perfectly good stories, ideas and character histories.

Artistic liscence is EXACTLY the sort of junk that takes great books, great stories and the like and murders, rapes and fouls them on the big screen. Yes, this is a major, major issue for me, given what I study and what my field is (Art and writing, mostly)

'Artistic liscence' is what was used on the 'Golden Compass'...I mean, for pity sakes its the Northern Lights! It was a great book, with an interesting plot and some really, really well made bits. But no, It got the once over for the movies, making it all twee, sparkly and kiddy friendly...
Bayformers is another one, with a great backstory and years of awesome material discarded in one swoop by a man fixated with T&A and explosions and awful camera angles, who wouldnt know plot if it jumped up and bit him in the face.
'Artistic liscence' is the cause for all the gung-ho, trampling all over history war films, the stupid, implausible sci-fi's that dont even attempt to make sense.

When you look at films like 300, for example, which stuck like glue to the source material. Lord of the Rings was very close, for the most part. I can't really think of any others right now that were based on things, but the ones that stuck close to the source material are, invariably, better. Batman Begins, Dark Knight, two more. Slight changes, sure, but they had all the old elements, all the old enemies, the things that made Batman Batman.

    /rant
I would also consider Watchmen and the Anime OVA Hellsing Ultimate in that collection of Films that "Got it Right", as far as keeping true to the core material.

As to weather or not keeping true to the CoX Lore for a full length film, I'm not too entirely sure. Considering the scope of the Lore, some of what Noxilicious suggested wouldn't be bad to use, if for nothing else than to make State's and Recluse's backstories a little more accessable. Because, truthfully, the overall conflict of these two would make for a good film.

While the aftermath of the first Rikti War makes a good starting point for the MMO or a Series of some sort, I'm sure it wouldn't work for a single full length film (Let's be honest here. Unless a CoX film did like Iron Man numbers, a sequal wouldn't happen...).

Though now that I think about it, "Smoke and Mirrors" Arc of the Top Cow Comics would make a decent film as well. Wonder if Hickman did it that way?

  18. The Arc in my Sig might be of interest.

Should take about an hour (4 missions). One EB and a couple specific Bosses in the last mission. Good amount of Mezz and Psi type stuff though out. Mostly Custom Critters though with most on Standard-Custom/Hard-Custom. I look at still as a Work In Progress.

    Thank you for the time...
  19. <--- Male with a Gamer, Otaku, Fen mix of hobbies

I tend to play Characters of either Sex because I like to.

Thing is, my GF also plays Characters of either Sex as well. So you may never know who is who unless you do a /globalplayername . And personally, that's fine with me...

You may be out of disk space or you may be trying to install to a
location where you have insufficient permissions
after checking the space left on my drive I checked permissions for the COHTest folder, the Piggs folder, and the file with the issue. I've got more than enough room on my HDD, and the security settings match what's set on the live install.

Also, I'm having this problem on both the desktop I use and my laptop.

Good, I'm not the only one getting this.
Funny thing is, I just updated the test on the GF's Rig (which is a year or two older) with out any problems. Go Fig...

    I'm Bummed...

I have a little Fire/Kin called Lil Devilina on Pinn. Went through and got the PC for her first slot and was happy.

I got to her second slot and I get a shock. Not from the PC angle, but from the Costume Creator...
She has the Bare Witch top and Monstrous legs with the Witch Bare Bottom. I worked this up about 5 - 6 weeks ago, FYI. Now the Witch Bare for the Monstrous legs has been pulled from the Creator. This does not make me happy in the least!

As it stands, I may never be able to PC that particular Costume.

And before anyone asks, yes I did bug it as soon as I discovered it.

    Anyone else notice that?

    Thank you for the time...
  22. With the release of I16, I have gone through and tweaked the Arc.

    Known Issues

    • The Two Defend items in Mission #2 still seem to merge together
    • The Collection Glowies in Mission #2, while set for Middle, always appear in the final room of Level 2 of the Map

    Custom Critters

With the changes done to the way Custom Critters give XP, All of the Customs in this Arc are a minimum of Standard/Standard, with a number of them being either Custom/Hard or Custom/Custom. Also, both Custom Villain Groups have at least one Minion/Lt./Boss, so you should get at least 75% XP per Critter.

    General Notes

    • Added [SFMA / MLMA] tag to Arc Description
    • Added Group listing and Description to Arc Contact
    • Cleaned up a couple of typos across the Arc

    Missions

    Mission 1
    • Changed trigger on one ambush
    • Removed a triggered patrol and increased the number of non-triggered patrols
    Mission 2
    • Made sure all CoT references were for actual CoT Standard Goup
    • Tweaked Ally Rescued Clue
    • Adjusted Ally Rescued Emote
    • Pulled Kiosk Glowie (It was doing nothing at this time)
    • Adjusted Curator placement
    Mission 3
    • Added Defeat Clue to Boss Fight
    • As mentioned above, a Minion and Lt. Critter have been added to "The Mystery Magician" Group. They will be with the Placed Bosses of "The Mystery Magician" Group.
    Mission 4
    • Added a Defeat Clue to first Mystery Magician encounter
    • Tweaked Radiant Glinda's encounter
    • Adjusted Ally Rescued Clue and Rescued Emote

    As always, feedback is welcomed.

    Thank you for the time...

I'm actually glad I turned mine off. A little bit ago, I posted a thread, on the Protector Board, looking for a SG to belong to. I get this comment as part of a Negative Rep:

    Quote:
Play on Virtue or Freedom instead for good SG
Now I'm thinking "WTF is this person's problem?" Besides being a total A-hole who doesn't have any reading ability what so ever.
It's unwarranted garbage like the above that makes me glad I did turn it off.

    Now I feel better...

  25. I've sent PMs to those who have offered SG membership.

I await for your replys as I can get Base tours, if nothing else. Also that thank you for the quick offers of membership.
