  1. Woohoo, I did it. Omega Maneuver is now in the build. I had to drop Leadership, but made up for it with a Kismet tohit IO. All numbers remain in tact.

Obviously Barrier would boost pet survivability, but with all the pet unique bonuses included their survivability is high already. There's a good chance that the attack chain would be sustainable without ageless, the recovery ratio is already high and so it's perfectly plausible that Ageless would serve no purpose and barrier could be used all the time in order to bring the pet survivability up and bring the Crab itself close to the incarnate softcap at all times. edit: also don't forget that the stacked maneuvers is adding on to pet defense if the Crab stays in the proper vicinity.

I'm saying I win. I met all the criteria. I'll take the Armageddon set, you can even keep the Acc/Rech.

I didn't make the rules. The OP said if softcapped without Barrier win double moniez.

Well, I believe I have met all the required criteria in the OP, plus the bonus criteria of a sustainable single target attack chain and softcapped defense without Barrier. I know you didn't expect this to be able to happen, and I am nice so I will accept the doubled infamy (500 doubled since I softcapped without Barrier) and since the attack chain is endurance sustainable I will accept only one of the 3 earned purple sets out of humility.

  5. You already have a 2:1 recovery ratio which will mean you're fine 95% of the time. Since the build doesn't need Barrier like I mentioned earlier, you can take Ageless +recovery to completely guarantee no endurance issues. This also means no need for end slotting in HB.

Edit: As for HB's slotting, you will be able to replace the Dam/Rech IO with a regular damage IO without gimping your attack chain and to boost the values to above average. A perfectly great slotting if I do say so myself.

I'm showing 3.65 end/sec recovery on the last revision, before we even consider Ageless. The 3% res IO is back in as of my last revision. Yes, I'm posting fast. I like to win at things and I'm pretty sure I did just now.

If you are forgiving the loss of Omega Maneuver, I've already addressed the other issues. Ageless means that your end issues are moot and I win the "softcapped without Barrier" prize too. I will play around for a little bit more and try to get the SBA proc into Spiderlings, even though that was not under "required."

I know I've been rapidfire posting, so once again here is the revision to which I am referring. Turn accolades on, you'll need to collect the passives but any character worth their salt gets those anyways.

Bah, my last revision meets all of your criteria except having Omega Bomb, which could be swapped with Frag Grenade as I had it originally (and the last poster also mentioned that the KB is bad.) I even softcapped all positions without Barrier. I'm pretty sure I won already.

I think it would quite struggle with endurance though unfortuantely.

Good call with the Touch of deaths, I think I had it in the build at one point. Doing that and swapping the defense generics in the maneuver powahs, you would have a 2:1 recovery/usage ratio so you'd be fine. One of those 2 slots could be used for a Numina unique in health to guarantee no endurance issues, plus this build softcaps positions without Barrier (+2 boosters in defense toggles make up the half a percentage, not that it matters) so you have the option of Ageless +recovery or DDR depending on which you want more.

Making those tweaks, plus you said you had +5 boost in your recharge IO's in hasten so that saves a slot, we end up with a Numina unique in health and the Shield Wall 3% back in the build. What else is missing from your criteria, aside from Omega Bomb, and is that a sacrifice you're not willing to make?

  8. And here's how I'd get the second assault back

I just realized I must have made some dumb decision that I can't pinpoint at the moment because the pets aren't perma anymore. Maybe I've been staring at my computer for too long.

But don't worry, I fixed it. Edit number.. 5. I think. Fixing stuff keeps breaking other stuff and I don't notice until too long after.

Okay, nothing is broken now. This better be good enough! >

  9. I made some changes and now I have a version that I'm pretty sure meets all of your criteria, plus the bonus and the "nice to have." Again some power choices are different from your template but 90% is the same and the important stuff is all there. One of the assault powers is back, Frag Grenade was easily removable in my book because it does KB but ymmv

  10. I just focused on the important stuff. I think I pretty much got everything though... I just had to fix some of your power choices. I hope you're not going to begrudge me the less than 1% melee defense, hah.

  11. Yea your power choices are too restrictive but the important goals are attainable and I think the general functionality you're looking for can be had, but it's pretty hard to work on something like this in Mids with exact power choices laid out like this.
  12. Ok, a little late, but here are the results for today.. I just finished up. The Stalker got wrecked today. Both characters died once on the way out of the bank after defeating the hero, they just got rushed by Longbow. The Stalker struggled against Goldbrickers though... I knew my endurance couldn't sustain the ranged defense toggle at this point so I went with Caltrops at level 10 (endurance is already rough on the Stalker.) This lead to getting hit with ranged energy (I think it was energy) damage and dying twice. The Blaster was able to immobilize them and debuff their tohit, and that combined with hover meant that they didn't present as much of a challenge to him.

Cold does not compare to Dark at SO levels. Fearsome Stare is far more reliable as an alpha opener no matter what as well. Sleet still gets you opening volley'd. Twilight Grasp is a good buffer to mistakes, which Cold doesn't have. Tar Patch does Sleet's job "Well Enough".

Dark is better at SO levels, and arguably better against enemy groups in general. Cold is above and beyond superior against AV/GM's, and at extreme recharge levels, in general.

Argue it if you want, but this was an SO post, not an IO post >_>

Wtf are you talking about? That guy was talking about high end performance and the capabilities of corruptors. Obviously if that's what you're talking about, you assume high end builds for both. Max potential, Cold beats out Dark. If you want to continue this conversation that's cool with me, but please PM me instead if you don't mind.

I already told you, I don't want to have to kill off everyone's characters before the plot can develop. It wouldn't be fair.

    Also, shut up Meg.

I'll give you a few example, I'm not accusing just showing what I mean:

What if your blaster was stocking up insp between each mission and your stalker wasn't.

What if you were using temps on one but not the other. Heck maybe you're just playing differently or measuring differently.

In the end you have something you want the results to prove, which hurts the credibility of whatever results you do produce. And yes, someone eventually might say, 'well thb, i think you're lying because you're obviously biased.'

Anyway, to the point. If this is to prove to you what you already think then more power to you.

But you really can't call it "statistics"

It's a single data point, by a biased player. I'm willing to bet you'll prove to yourself what you already think true, but we'll see.

If you wanted statistical samples you'd need a much larger group, and the people in it need to be controlled to some extent. For example, putting this on the forums limits it to forum readers, which I might infer are better players. So whatever results we'll get are skewed toward how a blaster vs melee plays for the good players vs. average.

TLDR: I guess my point. Saying "This is what I experienced." Is fine I suppose. Claiming it as statistical data to prove your point doesn't really work and really shouldn't in and of itself convince anyone.

I've been using inspirations equally on both as they're needed. No temporary powers on either, no XP boosters on either, veteran powers and ninja run on both. Like I said earlier, I'd welcome it if others wanted to participate in this also playing different sets. Just because I'm expecting to see a certain result doesn't mean I'll necessarily see it. So far the Stalker has technically been better since he hasn't died at all and they've both been taking just about as long to complete the same exact things on the same settings. I'm not stacking the odds either way.

The presumption made on death was that the debt was only part of the problem, and the extra travel time was as much a factor in slowing down blasters as the incurred debt, and also why there was a performance gap below level 10 when debt doesn't exist. I cannot easily tell what the penalty for dying was in the mission it occurred in.

Noted, thanks Arcana. I'll keep track of that going forward.

I've been posting the results very objectively and with detail covering exactly what I did and how long it took on both characters. Unless you're accusing me of lying, I'm not sure what you're trying to say.

Oh I wasn't trying to point to the deaths as some sort of proof blasters die more or anything. Especially since it's not indicative of my experience playing blasters at low levels. I was mostly just surprised.

Honestly I think my only 'real' issue with the two characters you chose was that Ninja Blade really seems pretty single-target focused in the long run and at least on my DP blaster I tend to use my AoEs a lot. Not that it's a huge deal or anything; people are comparing ATs to each other so any combination should be fair game
Not sure if you saw but it was suggested that I use an Elec/Ninjitsu Stalker instead due to the AOE issue which I decided was a good idea. Difficulty levels will be the same for both characters at all times.
  20. I would say you can have my Warshade be the villain in your story, but that wouldn't be fair for everyone else, since the only logical conclusion would be that he kills you all within the first three pages.

If the two do ever end up playing on different difficulties it might be easiest to just note it in the bold section with the powersets and AT.
Yeah, I was thinking I'd turn the difficulty up on both characters at level 20 when I respec and slot enhancements.

As an aside, I am surprised you've had more deaths with the blaster at this point. I was expecting them to be about even until the late teens or so.
They've really been inconsequential deaths though. I've felt the Blaster has played much more smoothly so far, the Stalker is a pain with his endurance and he's more prone to miss, plus the AOE as of now on the blaster is much better (Bullet Rain and whatever the cone is called, the Stalker only has the melee cone that's way harder to get good use out of as an AOE power.)

Hospin' out and ninja trotting back.
  23. Once again, the Blaster died once, but it didn't have an impact on the experience gained. It was actually a fluke death during the (I think) third Dr. Graves mission, I didn't remember that a Hellion would spawn in the beginning of the map, I went to run straight to the computer half-paying attention and reading help and he stomped me. >.> I played the Stalker second so I didn't make the same mistake twice. I'm still counting the defeat in the interest of fairness though.

  24. I was doing some street sweeping in Sharkhead Isle for tips the other day on a level 50 character and I had a converter drop. Just wanted to let everyone know that converters can drop off of gray con enemies if you want to farm them instead of spending your merits. I don't know if this has been mentioned already, but in case it hadn't, now it has.

Hey, I just meant I wasn't going to post my builds anymore. I don't mind helping out new players on a Crushing Impact budget. They'll hardly step on my toes.

And this is why. It'll be hard for me to resist the temptation of correcting people for posting build suggestions to new players that I could do just as good or (more likely) a better job of. This troll can keep trying to antagonize me, but I'm pretty sure everyone else in the thread can vouch for this being a true statement (except maybe that other troll.)
