Quote:To make the blanket statement that heals make a Peacebringer more survivable than a Warshade because they don't need bodies is, well, irresponsible.
I like every single part of your post but I felt like this particular line deserved to be quoted for sheer cleverness. Well done sir. -

Quote:People around here can be a bit snippy. Don't let it discourage you too much. Don't let it turn you snippy. I've been in your shoes, oh boy, have I been in your shoes. I tell a lot of jokes, bad jokes mostly. People laugh (mostly), I attribute it to timing and delivery. But there have been plenty of silent stares, and some awkward, embarrassing moments. Not all in the same week (not this week anyway), I mean just throughout my life. There are certain moments from my life that still make me cringe ten years later. (I'm of the opinion that you haven't lived enough if you don't have a few of those.) You can usually save yourself with a little self-deprecation, if you do it before they dog-pile you. Telling good jokes is a valuable skill, but recovering from poorly delivered jokes is a fracking art.
FYI, I emboldened the most important part.
I try not to be snippy, sorry if I'm coming across that way. The tone I was hoping to carry over was more "bemused" than anything else. I guess we differ in some respects because I actually still think my joke was funny. I don't mind stupid, heck I have been known to indulge in serious in-depth conversations about meticulous creation and handling of fictional video game characters (and all of their pros, cons, and the like...) Silly keeps me content. -

Congratulations you pwnt me with your cleverness. You now win 5 paragon points, thus awarding you this smiley face:
Anyways, just for the record my last post was only an observation. I'm not butthurt or anything, I just think it's peculiar (and sometimes perplexing) how things work sometimes.
I just picture like, one of you guys working as a cashier at a store I shopped in and I made a joke you thought was sort of silly.. So instead of just going "keke," you gave me an analysis of why my joke was not funny and told me what could be done to improve upon it in the future. -
This community is so interesting sometimes.
There is currently a 13 page thread discussing the hot topic of an all female server and I get told my leetle joke is pointless.
There is definitely a bit of a trend here of taking the most dramatic approach to every single situation to prove how much more awesome you are than the last person to say something.
Everyone jumps at the chance to let everyone else know how dumb they think something is instead of thinking to themselves, "Oh that is not interesting to me. Perhaps I will post elsewhere."
It's one thing when someone posts something totally retarded (like suggesting an all female server) but I just posted this because I thought it was kind of funny. No harm no foul, I would think.
But anyways, sorry that you guys did not like my joke. I am sorry for wasting your precious forum space and I will let you get back to calling each other stupid in different, more productive threads. -
But all Nemesis plots include multiple Nemesis plots.
There is never just ONE. More are implied with the presence of any!
-
It was supposed to be funny because of the idea of nemesis plots inside nemesis plots in the context of the meme.
My friend thought it was a winner.
edit--
Xzibit wasn't named 'car' either.
He also wasn't named 'flames' at any point.
Including his picture is just part of it.
Never mind.
*sigh again* -
Quote:edited.I might've found this slighly amusing if I knew the man pictured was named Nemesis without having to infer it from contextul clues.
I'm not sure what you're saying.
Are you not aware of this joke?
Or are you saying you are aware of it, but you don't think it's good because not everyone knows who Nemesis is?

Ugh, X Fire isn't working either. I installed it and everything just fine, but of course it did not detect COH. When I went to uninstalled games and located my COH directory I got this error:
Quote:I am doomed to never be able to make videos.Unable to find the following files:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cryptic\COH\Installatio n Directory
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\{5F8E2CBB-949D-4175-AC98-5ADE7F6C9697}\InstallLocation
for game City of Heroes.
Please double check the path, and try again. -
Quote:And yes! It is rather quiet, I too would love to team regularly through some non-50 content with people to keep that aspect of our home server a nice and fun time throughout all 50 levels!
Savior, what days are good for you? I would be glad to devote a couple of hours each weekend to livening up Praetoria on Protector. Like I said, we were able to get a good team together for a fun time. -
Quote:Or they should learn to cope with being in high pressure situations and use all the tools available to them to survive more often and get more mileage out of their characters.Because when some people die they get annoyed. When people die for something that had nothing to do with their choice, then many people are even more annoyed.
My death is inconsequential, there is no death penalty in this game worth mentioning. Other people care when they die, especially for no reason.
My fun should not come at the expense of another's fun.
And "they should have built better" or "should learn to deal with it" or "there's no real death penalty" or anything else isn't a worthy answer for if my actions caused someone else to die and they found it annoying and since I can't predict when they'll find it annoying easily, I prefer not to cause any death to my teammates
I have a Blaster that pretty much lives in melee. He takes alpha strikes, he doesn't have a self heal, and he doesn't have a self rez power. He's also one of my favorite characters to play. There is nothing that can't survive in high pressure situations if played correctly. Obviously, no one plays perfect all the time, which is why it's nice to have things like Vengeance (which is how this whole thing got started in the first place.) -
Quote:When it comes to getting extra aggro there is really no AT or powerset that doesn't have the ability to survive the onslaught. I take the brunt of the alpha strikes when I do this, and often find that some other players can't handle it. I also find that very many others can handle it. It's not like I go off trying to solo Marauder during a Lambda trial... I just like the thrill of taking on lots of enemies at a time. If I die or someone else dies, so what? It's not like they can never play their character again.I said "our ultimate" and was careful to say "our" in order to specifically limit it to our playing philosophy.
and as to your answer...I do not go off on my own in group play because I do not feel I have the right to put other people at risk....as long as it's my own neck and no other at risk, fine, I am not got going to indulge that desire when amongst others who may or may not appreciate it
which is to say, I admit that some people do not have my own playstyle and do not find it as fun to do things the way I do, and thus, I will play the way they desire to.
and the reason for the limits is because this game, by and large, is too easy
Maybe you find the game to be too easy because you have these kinds of regulations set in stone for yourself. -
Quote:Why would you only test your limits when you're alone? To me, there's nothing like going off on your own during the last two missions of the ITF and eating an entire group of Cims all by yourself. That's just one of many examples...Indeed, it is personal preference.
I prefer to test my limits, bite off "more than I can chew" as well.
If I'm alone, fine.
Quote:And yes, Keyes (which I have yet to do, unfortunately, circumstances always get screwed up when I try to get a trial, plus been leveling a brute a lot recently), and Apex have designed things that pretty much guarantee death.
Two situations where death is less than unexpected do not warrant putting in powers which encourage sloppy play in the rest of the content.
Quote:If I'm on a team, and our team likes to push its plans up to the point where the first two spawn encounters pretty much occur for the purposes of powering us up via soul drain, fulcrum and so on, before tackling the last. And we much prefer to play at +4, x8, AVs.
In the early days, we refused to use SOs until they started adding in enemy groups that justified them. The ideal is purple boss trying to run for it within 1-2 seconds of contact.
Quote:If something has M o content, we make a go for it on principal.
We also have a team of alts where if someone dies and is not resurrected by either a secondary or primary power within 5 minutes, then a new character must be rolled for that team.
But our determiner of ultimate success is perfect survival, not mere completion.
The perfect tactic, the perfect preparation, no one lost. -
I personally find Vigilance to be very active.
it is the only channel on Protector that I use. -
Quote:yes, but it's not worth a place on my build for a situation that doesn't occur all that often
unless someone screws up
You're right. Every time someone gets hit by Anti Matter's god mode gun, they screwed up. Same thing with Nova Fist and that blue stuff on the ground during Apex.
Dying isn't even that big of a deal in this game. Sometimes it can be fun to get in over your head and test your character's limitations. The only way to find out how much you can handle is to bite off more than you can chew.
After you start to play this way and find out your character can take the heat nine times out of ten, it becomes addicting. You'll constantly be testing your limits. A lot of the time it works out great for you and everyone involved. Other times one or two people die, and you utilize vengeance. Other times, you die too.
In my case on my Warshade, this is when I hit my self rez button that recharges about a thousand times faster than I know what to do with it before I go and get in over my head again.
There is no "right" or "wrong" way to play this game. It is all about personal preference. It seems like you have a very safe and conservative playing style based on your posts here, and that is fine, but it doesn't give you the right to expect everyone to play exactly like you do. The dev's gave us vengeance for a reason, and for myself and many others it is a glorious thing. -
Quote:Wow, I really hate so many things that you say. Dwarf form while not ideal is not "useless because of light form." First of all, Dwarf can be activated any time and that alone makes it more versatile. Second, there is no endurance or HP penalty for using Dwarf.
This is the kind of thing I don't understand. Human is actually the most survivable form to use at least at high level once you get LF. Dwarf Form is the one that becomes useless at high level cause of the relative lack of damage. You can teleport out and drop to human form for Build Up and Hasten and then tp back in but that greatly reduces your DPS compared to what Black Dwarfs can do. Rigging up a macro or bind to drop to human and hit SF or Build Up before switching back to tanking works also but it is riskier.
I am leveling up my PB in a tri form build for the status protection and pinch survivability in Dwarf and the second attack chain from Nova as I won't be slotting IO bonuses (for recharge in this case) to get a fluent human attack chain for a few more levels.
It's not a matter of the forms, or any of the function of a Peacebringer being unusable, or even ineffective. The problem is that it is underperforming in almost every respect. That doesn't mean that all the forms and powers can't be used effectively if played right, it just means they need some tweaking.
Quote:Not using Nova as an opening strike and closer to pick off stragglers really just gimps your damage output for no good reason if you are triform. It's like people are playing another game or have never really taken a PB to 50.
Of course it isn't ideal for me- The Dark Nova is just as survivable as a Peacebringer in Light Form because of the fact that Eclipse carries over to forms. This is why I'm only using the forms on my PB until I have clarion status protection and a high recharge IO build to keep me in a human form attack chain (amongst other things.) -
Just so everyone else knows, we were able to get a full team of 8 together in Praetoria today for a nice long run and a good time.
I posted in Protector Vigilance before we filled up, but didn't get any response. I think this would be a good thing to try and do regularly- Praetoria on Protector is much too quiet for my taste.
Usually there just seems to be 3-4 people around at a time, quietly soloing their missions. This was a nice change of pace. -
I might be out of line here so feel free to put me in check if that's the case... But does the OP strike anyone else as someone who goes out of their way to let everyone know that they are female because they enjoy the attention?
This thread is case & point. I find it hard to believe that this is actually something that anyone realistically feels should be implemented. I'm willing to bet that the OP's in game behavior is in the same vein which could cause a combination of A.) Over-reaction to trivial things for attention ("Your outfit is pretty!" "STOP HARASSING ME!") or a tendency to make underdressed female characters and hang out in Pocket D a lot ("I'll get those pigs now...")
I could also just be over thinking it... But that's really the impression this is leaving for me. -
Quote:Yeah it's never gonna work on bosses unless someone else on your team has a power to stack with it but it takes minions out of the fight like crazy once you have it properly slotted with accuracy, recharge, and disorient duration and it can easily be made perma with Hasten.
You don't need Maneuevers for Vengeance either if you have Assault and Tactics.
Like I said: Defense is much more important than a chance for a stun.
