This, more than anything. Frankly, if having swag is your deciding incentive to staying, then I'll go as far as to say, "I don't want you here." I'd rather lure you back with Praetoria, Incarnates, improved PVE/PVP and Architect 2.0 rather than with "o look u got sands of mu lololol".

    A salient point, SwellGuy.

    1. Pay to Catch Up: For every 3 months they have been a member, they may pay another $10.00 (Or what ever the devs/marketing decide) to gain another 3 months advancement in their veteran rewards alone. They would probably not gain any spare time, and this would probably exclude any name changes, bonus slots, and respecifications (again up to the devs). The actual Veterans would be still getting these things for no additional cost, rewarding them still more, while this would keep people from just JUMPING up to full veteran at a cost.

    2. New Veteran System: We will have a secondary system start up, call it "Tier Two Veteran Rewards" People joining when this starts will start at square one, and also gain the original veteran rewards; however the current veteran system will stop progressing. This should probably be done every few years, creating a new tier of vet advancement. As things progress there will be progressively greater reason to start playing City of X, and stick around, while the current older veterans are still rewarded.

    3. Somehow combine the two, by paying per 3 months in all three tiers, or by per 3 months of one tier, for additional veteran advancement.

So ether of these systems would help improve the money revenue and membership of City of X, and help the coming members not feel completely left out and with out recourse for not being here from the start.
Your argument is predicated on the presumption that people are being left out. They are not. They are gaining the rewards at exactly the same rate as the veterans did years ago.

The system isn't broken, and in fact is working exactly as it was designed half a decade ago. There is no need to fix it, especially with your two solutions listed above.
  4. Okay, I've decided. Gun Father, DP/Fire Blaster. If we need something more scrappery, I have Ultima Ratio Regum, BS/Shield Scrapper.
  5. I'd be down for this. Toon TBA, but I imagine it'll be Gun Father, DP/Fire Blaster. Thanks as always, Luna.

Don't blame all NAers for this. I have enough trouble managing my 28 toons on Freedom. I think I have one other off-server toon, plus a stack that I rolled back when the Devs were offering prestige bonuses for SG populations a few years back.
  7. Heya Twig:

As an aside (and in no way detracting you from a SG search), you might also want to hook into the global channels more often. I'm in a similar position that you're in: My SG (Iron Phoenix) is currently in "sleep" mode pending GR's release, leaving me as the custodian for the SG. I fill out my gaming time with E-Man and Luna's "Freedom Horde" mission runs that are organized through the Freedom forum. It's a loose collection of players that stay in touch via the forums/globals, and I have to say it's A-list talent and top shelf personalities.

Something to think about to supplement your gaming diet. Kinda like fiber.

Ugh. The whole last mish, I spent /telling that GM about the stability issues. Next thing I know, "mish complete" pops up... Wickedly awful run (because of the stability issues), but the teaming was solid and the people were sharp. Kudos to your ability to endure the miserably epic experience! XD

Hey, it was for your protection, I wanted you to get in an instanced mish before the next mapserve bout hit the zone. (Of course, didn't help us much after we entered either..)

That's basically what was happening to a bunch of people, yeah. The ones I knew of were all in FBZ (we had two Dr. Q teams running at the time), but someone mentioned that Talos players got a similar response. And then the mapserves started dialing out to all the other zones...

Glad you got a fun tour out of it.

Freedom was having bigtime issues last night around the time she'd posted, Noj. See her other thread for more info.

No. As Spiky notes below, I have lower arms.

Too astute. I also do not slouch.

Anyway, Icelanders, don't be discouraged by this ravenous rabble of raving roosters.
  14. I got an update from a GM earlier. To sum up: They resolved it last night, so all "should" be well now. See my threads here and on Freedom regarding server instability for more info.
  15. Some hope: A senior GM sent me a response to my petition and qualified last night's events, and their resolution of it. Waiting on permission to copypasta here, as it's significant to the server playerbase, but to summarize: They saw it, said it should be all fixed now.

Wasn't discounting what you said; read what I wrote in full. To reword it: In the past, it's always been more likely that you'd be rock solid in an instanced map, BUT last night we saw that challenged by getting MSDC messages while within several missions.

That's what my point was; "yeah, it should be stabler like that, but even that got *****'d last night." Which is very unusual.

I'd have to agree with MB here. Freedom's been seamless performance wise for a long time now. Last night SEEMS to be an aberration of some sort, but without GM/redname commentary, we're just floundering in the dark here, making up reasons. Barring last night, though, I've hardly seen server blips on Freedom. I know Virtue and a few other servers seem to have an odd cycle of disconnection issues, some more frequent than others. Maybe we're just catching up to their brand of cool.

Please try to keep commentary in this thread related to stability issues, what you saw, and when you saw it. Thanks for keeping this thread productive, everyone!

I don't know if I ever mapserved or lagged at all, but it never fully disconnected and the server has not been reset yet.
Because of how the instanced missions work, you're likely to be more stable inside those than in a common zone. We saw a similar behavior last night where we'd just finished a hot Rularuu fight, we all Exited... then kaboom. Oddly, after we reconnected 40 minutes later, we hoofed to the mission, went in, and ALSO saw instabilities inside there too, which AFAIK is very unusual based on what we saw.

I dunno. I know Virtue's been having stability issues for a good while now. Maybe we caught something from them.
  19. E: Put me down as an alt/filler for this? The Q run + serverside fubars has just kicked me in the jimmy way too hard for me to wanna game for a day or two. Sorry, burned out.
  20. FYI: This is still ongoing. I was contacted by a GM on it, and "higher support" is investigating. I asked multiple times for a forum post to that effect so people have a clue that the GMs/serverhamsters are indeed looking at it, so let's see if it happens.
  21. Please check this thread out and add to it with your evidence, let's get some GMs aware on this.

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=224215

We saw the Shard go down around 1045pm Eastern, and mapservers were hitting server-wide about 1105pm onward. Try to login to a toon in the Shard and you get "Character X is still logging out", or "cannot connect to DBserver".
  22. We had two TFs running in the Shard (Quaterfield) when it suddenly went down about 10:45pm Eastern. Toons who were in that zone are getting "Character X is still logging out, please try again", or they can click the toon, then get the "cannot connect to DBserver" error msg.

FYI as a reference, if you're having similar problems, state your server, the zone you were in, and what time it went down. Thanks...
  23. E: I'm stuck at the login screen, keeps telling me "Character X is still logging out, try again in a few minutes". Are you guys seeing problems? I never fully loaded FBZ... and I just got a Lost Connection to DBserver"... hrm...
