Personally, I think this is a great, unexpected marketing angle. Kudos to the Marketing team for thinking outside the box (pun intended).
It's clever, quick and hits the mark. Granted, it targets one user at a time - unless NCSoft is going into the cereal making biz, I doubt this'll impact the grand scale of things. However, for targeting journalists and other high volume entities, this is a great way to catch the eye of that person.
And, just because I have a need to lay claim on this idea, my buddy in IRON, "Weazel", came up with this idea waaaaay the heck back during Planetside's hey-days in 2003. I give you proof:

Suggesting this for Customs' sakes, but it really applies to anyone whose primary badgers are in need. How about tweaking the format for these, when a member is in viable "need" of a badge, where the rest of the team brings their A-game toons to the field to help the brother in need?
I roll my alts because they're generally useful, but if someone's been stuck because they missed the badge rush when it first came out, I'd vote to turn it into a "one for all, all for one" mentality to get the job done for that user.
If anything, it would ramp up our success rate. If we did five Master runs with our A-list toons, to get one person each time the badge, wouldn't that be more successful if we did it ten times with our alt list toons, trying to get the badge, and running amuck of it every time? -

I do want to kick this one in the jimmy, but if we wanna guarantee the Master win, we might want to bring more complementary AT builds to the team.
Going on record in saying that I already have this badge on my mains, so if you'd rather fill it with someone who can bring more to the team, I'll step aside. No worries in that regard. I DO like doing the runs for my alts, but they're alts. Badging is Srs Bsns(tm). I'll give up the seat if it means a win for our side.

I have this nasty habit of controlling where my real name appears in games I beta for. So I use a fake name for the trial period, and if I decide I want to stick with it I'll start a new account with the real info. When I beta'd for COH back in 2004, it started with the fake name, but that account became my primary. By their rules at the time, the name on the acct couldn't be changed.
It took several years; they never wanted to do it. However, when I inquired a few years ago about it, the redname in question (no longer here) checked, and they had a process in place where I could submit the info to them for ID verification. When I did that, it only took a day or two, but it was definitely done.
I don't know if that's still the policy now, but it was definitely feasible a few years ago. -
I'd like to be a "maybe" for this run. Toon TBA, but considering my track record, it may be superfluous.

There should be, I think, TWO aura colors for customization, to address this exact issue. The older auras look better with one color than the new ones: Say you have a light, bright blue as your gaseous eyes aura. The center of your eyes can be almost blinding white, fading to the bright blue around it. Makes for better apparent luminosity. With the newer auras, you don't reach nearly that peak.

My grip is that the color for the aura is only one color. The previous baked-in auras had more luminosity to their glow effects (say you chose "gaseous" vs "cryogenic", gaseous seems to have a brighter "white" to it on the higher colors than the newer ones do).
I'd love it if you could give auras a two-tone aspect, like how you can change the colors of the animations for Demon Summoning. Something for the Suggestions board, I suppose.

Fox smirked. "Yeah, but it's the way to go if you want a reliable online experience. It's like Planetside for teaming, but you can solo a lot of material yourself. No PVP yet though, not sure what they're doing with that."
Turgenev steepled his fingers at his desk. He was a huge comic book fan, back in the day, and he saw some of the public release screenshots of the game. He dug the PVP scene from Planetside, and the gaming crew that he and Fox ran with was ten degrees of awesome; but a lot of the game tweaks there had spoiled the fun lately, and he was jonesing for a new fix with his fellow guildies.
Turgenev looks up wryly. "Can I make a hero that refuses to defend rich clients?"
Foxtrot nodded sagely. "Of course you can."
Turgenev smirked. "WELL then, that cinches it. ...sure, I have a few months to kill. I'll try it. Got a beta key?"
Fox made a sour face, pulling out his Blackberry to email Turgenev. "Please. I always have a beta key to stuff like this."
And six years, seven months later, he's still here. -

They were layoffs, yes. BAB is a great guy, but that sometimes happens to great people. One thing does not indicate the other, and the fact is, population has been great since the release of GR.
Are other games on the horizon that could threaten this one? Sure. Will they? Depends. Let them be released first before you make that determination. We've been there once already.
We're also still very much here.

The capes and auras are quite nice. I kinda wish there was better aura color control for colors, because having it monotone makes it a bit flat. (It'd be lovely if we could give it a hot bluish-white inner, with an orange-red trailing outer, for instance.)
The capes themselves are excellent, and I keep finding reasons to put it on my toons. Nice job. -
