Anyone recall if they had to log back in to cohtitan's assets this weekend since it started? I recall doing this, but in light of the compromise I wonder if our IDs/passwords have been similarly compromised.

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood when you're back on the scene, KK! Welcome back!

Quote:Ugh, sorry to hear it, E.I'll need to delay the Lambda run by a week Turg - my nephew's wedding is next Saturday, so I will not be on.
Great job everyone & thanks for joining - I will do a better post tomorrow - very tired after a long, bad, failed underground trial...I tried to requeue, but I just sat there, so I gave up (I set the group as closed originally). How far did you get?

Two runs, four badges, one Master. Superbly done by everyone.
You guys make this easy. Thanks for coming out! Next up, Master LAMBDA!

Quote:My home town. Wish I knew, I'd drive up from DC just to say hi.So this is happening.
Saturday, November 5th. People who are interested, please contact me via global tell or board PM and I'll give you the details.
Plan is meet for dinner in restaurant that serves both food and rapscallions, then go on to a bar of some description. People are welcome to join for either or both, go nuts.
If you haven't decided on a place yet, consider the Jekyll and Hyde pub in Greenwich Village. My entree of choice is the Jekyll Steak, with some Old Peculier to wash it down.

Signing up with Dr. Turgenev (Illusion/Storm) for this run.
For anyone who hasn't run this before, please review this strategy guide for the mechanics of the Trial as a whole:
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Behavi...Trial/Strategy
Some notes for general consideration on badge work:
1. There are four badges total to qualify for Master status. Two of these (Not on My Watch and Alarm Raiser) can be done easily, and at any time. In fact, most players are SO used to doing them for the extra astral merit that this shouldn't even be a goal for the runs, as you can get them whenever (and probably already have it if you've run BAFs before).
2. The two naughty badges are "Gotta Keep 'Em Separated" and "Strong & Pretty". The former requires rooting Siege and NS at their initial spawn spots, and keeping them there the whole trial. The latter requires killing the two AVs when ALL other support mobs are dead.
"Separated" and "S&P" really should be done separately, with each run focusing on one of these badges.
Besides having the right mix of +2/3 level shifted players with damage/debuff for AV takedowns, we'll need at least two tank types for each trial run (one for each AV), and 3 teams. The tanks should be able to take the AV-sized damage bursts AND know when to break off if they're too close to being Sequestered.
Quote:Bottom line: You should know how to manage the ring warnings for ANY BAF run, but for how we'll be situated for each run, an AOE Hold on our gang will be a negative.Sequestering - Nightstar and Siege have a special attack they do during this trial called sequestering. Basically, if you gain too much of Nightstar or Siege's "attention" while you are fighting them, they will give you warnings, and then sequester you if you don't heed their warnings. You will see warnings for you in red letters, and a ring will appear around your character for each warning. You can also see warnings for others in white letters. If you gain a third ring, you will be "sequestered", i.e. unresistably held, for a fairly long duration. Even worse, the hold is a targeted AoE centered on you, so if you are careless you may cause other people to be sequestered at the same time you are. The key point is this: if you get a second warning, back off and kill adds until the rings fade.
I'd say max out the total to about 18-20 instead of the full 24 if we can, to keep the spawn numbers lower and more manageable. (If we get more, fine, but if we hit lower for all the signees, we'd fare a bit better on the spawn counts.) Each tank team should dedicate to either one of the two AVs, with the third team dedicating to keeping the ambush mobs dead (they all spawn from the barracks Helipad area in the north). Four or five players should manage this, with the rest going to help with the AV kills.
Any suggestions, things to discuss? Chat it up here, I can amend any crap that I say. -

Quote:Hero: Throw the sidekick out of the death trap, raise a fist at the sky, angrily calling righteous vengeance on the villain.Your sidekick and friend are in a death trap by a master villain who is escaping in a rocket pod. go after the villain or free the side kick?
Vigilante: Throw the sidekick at the villain's rocket pod. Sidekick haltingly agrees it was the best solution, but never looks at you quite the same way again.
Rogue: Lasso the villain's rocket pod, tying it to the sidekick to pull him/her out of the deathtrap. Sidekick swears he/she will give up the spandex life for good.
Villain: Step on the sidekick to give yourself better purchase to leap after the rocket pod. Hey, it's a twin-ion burst Celestia Systems Mk VIII, you'd pick up chicks galore at the Giza drivin' this buggy.
New scenario: The media has informed the world that you are the reason for all of its ills. -
Quote:This isn't quite what you were asking for, but it's definitely related, just inverted....to make a character that is inspired by an existing intellectual property?
Now this thread isn't about ferretting out those "generic-able" costumes and names, but instead to inquire about the WHY of making a character in name, appearance or bio that is inspired by such characters as Batman, Spider-Man, Spawn, Neo and Green Lantern.
Myself, I have always preferred to make a character as unique as possible with my own (somewhat limited) creativity, so I am just trying to understand the idea behind doing otherwise. For me, there have been only a few characters that I have made that are inspired by existing comic characters.
- Schwarzpunkt He was inspired by Batman and Ozymandias... and as such became an acrobatic, smart, gadgety, villain who really thinks he is doing the right thing. His costume is all black, but that is about where the similarities end. I made him because I wanted to make a Stalker, and Batman sprung to mind...
- Hard-Light This dude was inspired by me looking at the Vanguard sword and the Energy Shield and immeadiately thinking Green Lantern. However, I chose to make this guy's dominant colors yellow, and significantly alter his costume. I just liked the idea that the sword itself was his power.
What are your examples, and why did you make that character?
I penned up the character "Dr. Turgenev" waaaay back in spring 2004. A Russian, magic-based illusion/storm controller, I themed him up as a modern day mage, a la "Mage: The Ascension" from White Wolf Studios. Personality was modeled somewhat after my own: Serious, with an acerbic flair to his humor. Driven in the war against evil, and some would say a bit too driven. He commanded shadows to do his work, and knew how to speak to the elements to favor his goals.
I rolled this toon for several years, and by chance, came across Neil Gaiman's reinvention of the "Eternals". One of the characters he tweaked for the reinvention was "Druig".
Who is, by look, personality and combat behavior, a direct clone of Dr. Turgenev.
I've contemplated suing prior art. =D Then it occurred to me... it would have meant I've teamed with Neil Gaiman... and he liked my concept enough to steal it... and then I was mollified. Rage gone, calmness ensuing. XD -
Signing on as a maybe, with Gun Father.

Heya Virah, and welcome to Freedom/COH!
I don't have a SG that you can join, but if you ever need help or wanna few nickel tours of the city, look me up.My global's @Turgenev. I'm around in the evenings EST, and I'll F/U if I see a msg waiting. Cheers!

Well my office is in pieces. Window installers going quickly but will finish around 2 o'clock. Then I gotta put all my stuff back together. Joy.
-
I'll have a better idea around 6pm tomorrow night if I can do this. I may be putting my office back together from scratch...
-
Run around the graves with a pbaoe aggro trigger like hurricane. Trust me.

If you advertise a contest, I'd aim on holding it somewhere NOT AP, so it's not a constant gridlock. Since the trains now go everywhere, Croatoa would be a nicely themed and safe location, out of the way but simple to get to.
The kicker here is getting the funds for it. Try reaching out to PERC (Freedom contact is @LSK last I've heard, but you can try Madame Pistachio as well) to see what they can bring to bear to assist. We had a profitable auction here a few months ago, they owe us. -
Heya, Treuwart.
I'm not familiar with groups or channels for german users on Freedom, but you might want to check the German-language forums for more info. That can be found here:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/forumdisplay.php?f=560
There's also a German language server named Zukunft. However, since you stipulate you're looking for a server with a solid population, that might not be your final destination (their population is comparatively low when you consider Freedom, Virtue, Infinity and a few others).
Good luck on your search! If you know of any public German language channels on Freedom, make sure to post it on the boards and I'll add it to the master channel list! -
Quote:Well, there are new Alpha options coming "soon" with Issue 21 Special Update, so you might want to wait to see what they release before you commit.Thank you!
I've unlocked the alpha slot but my team sped through the mission so I missed lots of the dialouge...Im not sure what Im supposed to put in there....or if there are options, what would be best for my archtype (blaster).
For Alphas, I ask with each build, "where do I lack the most?" Say it's my illusion/storm controller: That answer is Endurance, so I slot Alpha with Cardiac Core to give me the most boost, with the right side-effects to really raise the bar with him in combat.
You can preview the specs for each slotting before you create it (rightclick on the power in the Powers tree and you can get detailed info on what each one gives for benefit). The way I build my toons, I max out damage output while giving me endurance breathing room, so Cardiac is a natural choice. YMMV, but the two Alphas I hear most commonly used are Damage and Endurance. -
Given that he raged for an hour straight the day he submitted it, but has no further followup, I'm guessing they got back to him and restored his SG data. Could be wrong, but I'll throw 2 INF down on this bet.
I had a similar base restore problem about 3 years ago. It was a base that I purchased for side storage for personal purposes. About a year post-purchase, the base got blanked, and it took just under a week for the restoration. But it DID get done, and the process was fairly painless (they ask a question, I answer, wait a day, they ask few more, I answer, wait a day, they put it on their radar for restoring, etc). -

I think I might try for this tonight. Got home earlier than I expected.
