Tundara

I see and hear often about how people can't defeat Mako. The trick is to treat him like you are in PvP. That means Tactics, Focused Acc, Yellows, and anything that buffs to-Hit or debuffs Def.

My recommendation, before starting the final mission, everyone should purchase or get 4-8 Yellow pills. These will give you enough +Acc to break through his Elude long enough to counter his regen rate so you don't enter an Elude Loop.

And we were on the boat - we got a tactics buff then from somoene or something. I noticed the accuracy icon in my power line while we were hammering away at him, and I checked.

But that was just wrong. The rad controller was debuffing, I was debuffing, we had two sets of pets on him, plus two scrappers and two blasters (actual blaster and pb) ...and nothing.

I don't think we got him below the final 20 percent, at any time. And of course, his elude lets him heal it all right back thanks to the regenning.

Uh... Rad... We got Mako in the end... And we weren't on the boat fighting him... And I'm all confused now.

But yeah, the trick to getting past Mako is Tactics, Geas, Mid-Big Yellows, Dropping shivans BEFORE he eludes. If the Shivan can't hit Mako, they can't apply the -Def Debuff. Or, you could get a bajillion +Acc set bonuses. Those will help too.

Why are people making a big deal of how I am keeping score? Of course it's not going to be every time he knocked me down, I got back up again! Does he get up? No. Recluse stays on the ground curled up whimpering for his mommy.

So, My Record stands pure and clean! Tundara 4, Recluse 0.

Other teams I've joined are not so lucky. >.> I suppose I'll be nice and call those two 'draws' losses if you want. I just can't count a STF we should have won if not for people D/Cing as a loss though.

Recluse: Nada, zip, zero, the gooses egg, a big fat nothing.

And 2 draws, but they don't count as I didn't make those teams, just joined them. (for purposes of my record only Teams made by me count. )

The Team this time:

Tundara: Ice/Ice/Pyre Tank
Power Wolf: Inv/EM Tank
Kick People Gal: MA/SR/Body Scrapper
Berkana.2: Ill/Rad Troller
Shadow's Grip: Dark/Dark/Elec Defender
Radical Girl: Ill/Kin Troller
Rigo44: Energy/Energy Blaster.

An awesome team all around. Only time we had troubles was when fighting Mako, Ghost and Scir decided to join the fun. After getting kicked around a smitch (we did manage to make Mako Elude once even under the attacks of the three AVs), Mako and Scir went off for cofee and donuts while Widow stayed for some last minute gloating. Since she was on her own, we did a PA dog-pile on her and bonked her on the noggin. Afterwards, having refined the pulling technique, we got single pulls and they fell one by one.

Next was the Flier, which got kicked out of the air then taken apart. Didn't find this mysterious 'Beacon' I'd heard about, but oh well.

The Towers were taken down the good old fashioned way. Phantom Army makes an excellent and perfect foil to Recluses insane buffs. With Recluse only occasionally killing us we could concentrate our own attacks on the techs as they spawned and knock out the towers. We went Green then Yellow. PA's lost recluse at that point and he ran around ganking us. A quick re-group, then it was on to tower Red and Blue. Afterwards all on Recluse for Standard AV beat-down and then drinks and Martini's in Pocket D to celebrate 'Saving the World' for another day.

For tanks, with the right Buffer/Debuffer Fire and Invul both are very good. Stone as always is good on its own, but the extra nudge wont hurt. The tanks left out in their cold are Ice. We're entirely defense on our own with a modest -Dam debuff. So, it kinda goes like this: swish swish swish swish squish. It takes a lot more buffs for an Ice tank to be able to 'Tank' the AVs without a sudden case of non-living.

Personally, and please remember I myself am an Ice tank, I would take in order of preference for 'Tanking', Stone > Inv or Fire > Ice.

I'm surprised at how many teams are falling apart or unable to crack the last mission. I've run the STF 3 times, 2 with "Sub-Optimal" teams, all of them a success (though the first one we should have lost, but Recluse decided to go get stuck in a wall, so we are not complaining).

I have absolutely loved this TF. I love it so much I did something I thought to be a little unthinkable for me, I wrote a true piece of fan fiction about the STF. It can be found here: A Gift for the Devs. if your interested. People seem to love it, so I'm happy.

For me all the fights have been perfectly balanced on the razors edge between fun and agrivatingly hard. In the end, every time Mako or Ghost Widow falls I give a triumphant laugh. Every victory over Recluse is a happy dance. At first I was worried that the Towers were to hard, but I've come to think of them as perfectly fine.

Well, the first time I did it we only had 7 people, and a venge baiter who had to go AFK. We also weren't going to complete it until Recluse had the sense to get himself stuck in a wall. The bug is not repeatable though, Iokona has tried to replicate it with no success.
